Dates and numbers: There are -2 days until your due date on May 11, 2008.
You are 282 days pregnant.
You are 9.2 months pregnant.
You are in your 10th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: August 06, 2007 to November 03, 2007. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: November 04, 2007 to February 16, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: February 17, 2008 to May 12, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)
You are definitely considered full-term now and you are probably anticipating the arrival of your newborn. The crown-to-rump length of your baby is around 15 inches and your baby is now about 21.5 inches long total. Your baby weighs about 7.5 pounds and your uterus is about 8 inches above the top of your bellybutton.
Your official due date will be sometime this week and you probably have a prenatal check up this week to check for labor progress. Try to stay calm while you are waiting for labor to begin. You should have all of your bags packed and ready to go and your birth plan should be in place. Your labor coach should know what your wishes are and you should be able to get in touch with your labor coach at all times. Use false labor contractions to practice breathing and relaxation techniques that you will use during the actual labor itself.
Your baby continues to move further down the birth canal and this is measured in stations. Station describes the degree to which the presenting part of the baby has descended into the birth canal. The 0 point is a bone landmark in the pelvis, the starting point of the birth canal. If your baby's head is at a -2 station, it means the head is higher inside of you than if your baby were at a +2 station.
After your baby is born, she will be weighed and measured. Your baby may cry loudly or she may be dazed from medications. The doctor will suction your baby's mouth and throat with an aspirator. The nurses will dry her off and place a hat on her head to help keep her warm. Security tags will be placed around her arms and ankles and your baby will be swaddled in a blanket. You will be given the chance to hold your baby right after you have delivered. Shortly after, the nurses generally take the baby to the nursery for a bath and other routine procedures. Your baby will be given Apgar scores according to her condition at 1 and 5 minutes of birth. A total of 10 points can be scored. A score of 10 is unusual and most babies receive scores of 7, 8 or 9. A baby with a low 1-minute score might need to be resuscitated and usually the 5 minute score is much higher after he has time to adjust to life outside of the uterus.
APGAR SCORE:
*Heart rate of baby-If your baby does not have a heart rate a score of 0 is given. If the baby's heart rate is less than 100 bpm, a score of 1 is given. If the heart rate is over 100 bpm, a score of 2 is given.
*Respiratory effort of the baby- If your baby is not breathing, a score of 0 is given. If breathing is slow and irregular, a score of 1 is recorded. If your baby is crying and breathing well, a score of 2 is recorded.
*Baby's muscle tone-If your baby's arms and legs are limp and flabby, the score is 0. If some movement is observed and the arms and legs bend a little, a score of 1 is recorded. A score of 2 is given to babies that are active and moving.
*Reflex irritability of the baby-If your baby does not respond to stimulus, a score of 0 is given. If there is a small reflex when the baby is stimulated, a score of 1 is recorded. If your baby responds vigorously when stimulated, 2 points are given.
*Baby's color- If your baby is blue or pale, a score of 0 is given. A score of 1 is given if your baby's body is pink and the arms and legs are blue. If your baby's entire body is pink, a score of 2 is recorded.
At the time of birth, the baby has a total of 300 bones. Some bones will fuse together later, which is why an adult has only 206 bones.
Almost there! Did you know that we also have a month by month calendar for babies? You can find it in the menu under `Babies`: Month by month

KevinsMilf - does your midwife suggest doing anything other then waiting it out? like evening primrose or something like that..

Just got back from the dr. Had an ultrasound today to check my fluid and I'm ok there. Only thing is they told me that baby is weighing in at 10 lbs. I know that's give or take half a pound but still is huge. Even though my first was 9 lbs 2 oz, I'm freaking out over this one since this time I know the size. Last time was a surprise. Not to mention the dr. explained all the complications in having a big baby and that just freaked me out even more. I'm so depressed right now and am really not speaking to anyone. I feel horrible for it but I really don't want to talk to anyone until I can come to terms with this news. 10 lbs. Induction is scheduled for Wed as much as I don't want one. I almost told her to schedule it for an hour from now. Any words of encouragement would be much needed at this point. I cried all the way home from the dr.
KevinsMilf08 - 23 minutes ago
OH! But... After the internal exam (and the midwife was very gentle!) instead of seeing a couple small globs of mucus, there was bright red blood! I know they say that it's normal and whatever after an internal, but that's the first blood I've seen from down there in 10 months!! HAHAHA!
KevinsMilf08 - 25 minutes ago
Well, I just got back from the ol' midwife office. *sigh* No changes in the cervix - still 1 - 1 1/2 dilated, thick but soft, can feel baby's head, blah blah blah... So I'm going back on Thursday to do an NST and schedule a time for induction next Wednesday (the 21st). Ugh. I really hope baby comes before I have to be forced into a stupid induction. That's the last thing I friggen want at this point. >:(

good luck to you both homebysunset and mammamissy - though I must admit I'm really jealous that everyone is having their babies, its making me quite weepy now - I would just love the drama of my waters breaking/going into labour or even losing my mucas plug, I'm not even sure whether have had any BH's - I'm such a novice, I'm crossing my fingers for all of us who are overdue it's getting to the stage where I'm losing the 'oh my god! I could go into labour at ANY MINUTE!!!' mentality xx sorry to rant I'm longing to hold my son xx

Hi everyone, lately I've been having 'period like cramping' but the cramps are not that painful and I know they are not contractions because they don't come and go, but are consistant. Has anyone else felt like this? I'm hoping that it might be the beginning of something?
homebysunset - 1.3 hours ago
Just got back from the doctor and now I'm waiting for L&D to call so we can head in and get induced. My hubby is repacking all the bags and I'm just sitting here deciding what to eat before they cut me off LOL He has to be at work at 1AM so my friend is taking my to the hospital and sitting with me. So here's to having a baby, better late than never :)
MamaMissy - 2.1 hours ago
Some really intense contractions woke me up at about 5 AM this morning, but they were only 20 minutes apart. They're about 15 minutes apart right now. I'm really hoping this means something. I lost my plug a week ago today, had the show that same night. Been in 'early labor' since May 1. I really want to do this completely naturally so it would be nice if we could get this party started. I'm getting tired of all the fake-outs. =)

Week 41 does suck, just all mommies saying they had their babies... too depressing for us 41 weekers! I am so frustrated:-(
sarahjk - 3.8 hours ago

shelle5683 - 4.1 hours ago
hey ladies.... im sitting here at the hospital going outta my mind.... hopefully something will start soon... lots of luck for you loves to start having y0ur babies!!!!
DanaLee - 4.2 hours ago
jme0115 - it could just be the baby putting pressure on your empty bladder and it makes it feel like you really need to pee? not sure.. i know that when i pee i get crazy pressure pains, and sometimes its just a trickle.
jme0115 - 4.7 hours ago
does anyone else feel like they can't empty their bladder? i know i got to pee, but i just can't go like i need to :0(
DanaLee - 4.8 hours ago
thanks! week 41 is lonely times lemme tell ya
KevinsMilf08 - 4.8 hours ago
And welcome back Dana!! HA!
KevinsMilf08 - 4.8 hours ago
Lisa - hopefully we don't have too much longer to wait!!! I thought I was impatient before 40 weeks - yeah, it was nothing like this. Each day that passes with no signs of real labor is so disappointing that I'm actually accepting that tomorrow will probably not be any different than today, meaning no sign of baby! I'm happy that bub is getting stronger and having all of her needs met in there. It must be a sign that I'm not entirely ready just yet... Maybe my ta-ta's need some prepping or something?!? HAHAHA!!
DanaLee - 5.2 hours ago
k i know today i am 41 weeks, but it is dead over there so i'm posting here instead! last night was up every 10 minutes for about 6 hours with bad pains, then this morning they went away.. had my doctors appointment, i am 1-2 cm, 80% effaced and 0 station! i really think the evening primrose oil has something to do with it. have an induction date for thursday but i hope i dont have to go to it.. will do mega walk and sex tonight :P
KevinsMilf08 - 5.6 hours ago
And where the heck did everyone go? There's all these names to the right of the screen but no one's talking anymore!
KevinsMilf08 - 5.6 hours ago
Lynn - I've been having the same symptoms since Thursday night. I called the midwife because they started to get painful and the midwife acted like I was insane. She had me in tears on the phone. But, I'm right there with you on the tightening and everything. They are irregular for me most of the time, except every once in a while when I time them they will be 10-12 minutes apart for about 2 hours. Then they slow down to once every hour or so. I've read that this is called Prodromal labor...try googling it. :-D

I am 3 days over due. I have been having back pains all morning and then my stomach get rock hard. Is this what a contraction feels like. The only thing is they are not consistant. I just wish I would go into labor. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks

Top ten things no one told me about pregnancy:
1. Morning sickness lasts all day and all night.
2. You will stare at her ultrasound pictures for hours, trying to recognize anything familiar. You will compare them to ultrasound pictures of other babies and secretly think 'Mine is cuter'.
3. All the down syndrome testing is a stressful pain in the ass that confuses you even further.
4. You never forget her first kick and you never get tired of them.
5. You will freak out at least once when she is not moving, you bumped into something or had an especially good sex (if you know what I mean).
6. Your husband sleeps even more peaceful while you get up to pee for 28236th time.
8. Putting your shoes on and shaving your legs will become a hadworking task.
8. Your butt will always look small next to your stomach.
9. The first time you hear her hickup, it will bring tears of amazement to your face.
10. You will fall in love with your husband all over again while he is reading children's book to your tummy.

well... im off to go have a baby... this is just too surreal :)
hklaw - 10.4 hours ago
Hey mommy's. Lost my plug 3 weeks ago, had false labor twise, I'm 3 centimeters and 50% effaced. But my baby still doesn't want to come out. I have a NST today, ultra sound tomorrow to check fluid. My doctor says since I'm healthy she'd let me go to 42 weeks. I'm really against medical inducement for convenience, so I'm praying this baby will come on it's own in the next 14 days. If your little one hasn't come yet.... You must be healthy and your baby is really happy inside of you! Good luck ladies!
jme0115 - 10.4 hours ago
well today is the due date. not sure when keegan is coming, but i think i am going to start my maternity leave today. after a long weekend of being sent home from l&d and semi strong contractions that 'just werent strong enough' the last thing i really want to do is go to work and get the sympathetic looks from the 900 women i work in the building with. hope the boss takes it okay!
winnowillr - 10.6 hours ago
Wow... For the first time in months I slept through the night!!! No potty breaks, no waking to turn my huge body over, no heartburn disturabances.... It was wonderful!!!!!
mummyvicki - 11 hours ago
well todays the day... apparently. lol. ive been waiting for this day for soooooo long and what do i get? NOTHING thats what, i havent had ONE single contraction throughout this pregnancy, no losing of any plug that im aware of anyway, baby has dropped slightly but not as much as id like.. cuz he/sh is still in me lol. Not feeling too bad tho really considering its only about 4 or 5% of women who have their babys on their due date, its a nice day today so i think im just going to worry about sitting in the sunshine for now :) hope your all feeling well, xx

Oh, I didn't mean to upset anyone with the Duggar comment. I actually know nothing about this family...I mean, I know they have a show and stuff, but I've never watched it or anything. I was only expressing my confusion as to why ANYONE would go through this 18 times!! I love children, don't get me wrong. They're great, but 11 years of pregnancy - umm...no thanks!! I am sort of questioning the sanity of someone who doesn't set a boundary or limit after, say, I don't know...8 or 9! AHHH! AHAHAHAHA! Just seems a little unbalanced to me - Jesus lovers or not. I don't know...just me being 5 days overdue and thinking about how miserable I am... lol.
pregokristin - 17.6 hours ago
Hello. Im from week 30, but i figured maybe a few of you ladies further on would remember getting this, and maybe know whats happening..please help if you know anything about this. Last night, i had this pain in my lower abdomen. It felt like a nerve or something going straight down from my belly button (or right around there) to about my pelvic bone was being pulled or something.. Im sorry this is really hard to describe.. but anyways, when i wouldnt move it was fine and didnt hurt, but when i would try to walk it felt like i was about to be pulled apart. I laid down and about 2 hrs later it was gone. I just dont know what it could be.. Anyone else having this/ had this?? Do you know what it is??
MamaMissy - 18 hours ago
I know... it's a tear jerker. I just think it's so cool to watch and think about how our little ones grew inside us. Who knows? This might be the only (or last) time that we do this - so I'm just trying to soak up every thing during the end here.
... or maybe I'm just trying to make myself FEEL better about sitting here at 40+ weeks with a huge belly. ;)
luvdeternally - 18.4 hours ago
MamaMissy - you just made the pregnancy hormones come out in me. I so desperately want to hold my baby. It's so hard for me to be patient.
MamaMissy - 18.7 hours ago
I'm almost 4 days past my due date right now. I've been sent home from L&D twice and told three times by a doctor that she would be here within the day. I was getting really upset about it, but then someone posted a video on this site and it's really helped. I put it up on my MySpace so I can watch it whenever I feel down. Here is it in case you missed it!
KevinsMilf08 - 20.5 hours ago
Wow, that Duggar lady is 6 weeks pregnant with number 18!! WHO THE HECK DOES THIS 18 FRIGGEN TIMES?!?!? Please tell me... that's INSANE.

I just posted a picture of my new baby girl Alyssa Paige... tell me she isn't the most beautiful baby ever!!! ;0)
KevinsMilf08 - 21.8 hours ago
Well, from what you ladies have been saying on my page, I don't think it's amniotic fluid that's coming out. :*( I was so depressed today, with no baby and no signs of impending labor. I was just in the shower thinking that she's already got the Diva gene, in that she has to have her OWN special day, lol. Mother's day isn't going to suffice...it's gotta be her own day.
mommie2be2008 - 22.1 hours ago
well i made it past my due date and i know im not the only one but idk.. it kind of makes me sad that i didnt have my baby yet. but on the upside eventhought i didnt have the baby yet my sister got me roses and a card for mothers day. i go in for my weekly appointment tommorow which is supose to b every thursday but they changed it to monday this week due to my high blood pressurei realy hope they say something about inducing. any news would be ok with me at this point. but i dont think the babys droped yet (not that i can notice i mean it seems lower than b4 but not that much of a difference ) and havevnt lost my mucus plug yet. oh well soon enough ill be in labor and wishing i wasnt lol. good luck to everyone and congradulations to everyone thats already had their baby
aubreyd08 - 22.2 hours ago
Alyssa Paige was born on May 9th at 4:13PM weighing 6 lbs. 10 oz, 19 inches long. Will post pictures and birth story later - at the moment I'm a hormonal mess!!! (Both in a good way - and in a bad - whiney kind of way!) 1st day home is today and I spent most of it crying - without electricity.. thank god for my aunt - who whipped my ass back into shape! Got electic again (obviously or I wouldnt be posting)... and now all is fine and dandy! OH!!! ONE MORE THING - GET THE EPIDURAL!!!!!!! TRUST ME!!!!!

Hello everyone, here i am today on my due date! Exicted but anoyyed as i want my baby in my arms. This weekend has been very intresting i thought something might be happing... i started off having bad leg cramps(which i know arent part of labour) but hurt soooo bad, then on Sat i was having period cramps in my tummy but without any pain & on sunday(mothers day) i started the day again with the period feeling in my tummy, i was shopping and they seemed to be stronger walking around..i went home made lunch for the kids & all afternoon i couldnt walk it just felt like a heavy feeling down there...i also was feeling abit queezy in my tummy and by night time when i was at mums for dinner i started getting strong back pain but it wasent low it was mid range & had no pattern... it was also in my ribs...i was starting to think at this point i hope i dont have a tummy bug..i rang the midwife and asked what she thought she said it could be the starting point of labour & just take a bath & try & get some rest & come in if they become regular...i went to bed and started getting indigestion... i felt better when i sat up, so i was in and out of sleep all night but the pain in my back has gone,I feel good so far this morning.. I know with subsequent pregnancys babies dont usually drop till in labour so unless i was having pratice contractions that were high in my back because of that, does anyone know or have had simular symptoms?
happytobeamommy - 1 days ago
Today I woke up with pains at the top of my abdomen - at 7 am. It is now 5:30 and I am still having them... they do ease and come back but not in any pattern. My stomach has also been rock hard most of the day - could this be early labour?? Any idea what this could be - I am 6 days overdue...
KevinsMilf08 - 1 days ago
Question: If you're trickling amniotic fluid, how much usually comes out in the typical trickle? A teaspoon? Tablespoon? More than that? Every hour or so I have a little trickle of clear fluid, colorless, odorless (I mean, it's definately NOT pee). It happens more when I drink water???? I don't think it's mucus or discharge because (ok, GROSS and TMI, sorry in advance) discharge dries and leaves a crusty appearance in your drawers, but this stuff is just drying into nothing. No sign of it after it dries. Any ideas? I would LOVE to call the midwife, but I spoke with her last night and she seemed REALLY irritated that I was calling her about false labor pains. I don't want to talk to her if it's another false alarm or something stupid like the normal increase in vag discharge that happens. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
weenerh - 1 days ago
I've had my aunt call me 5 times today and it's only 1:43 pm here to see if I've had the baby yet or if I'm having contractions. I told her last time I talked to her that she'll be the first to know since she's watching my son while I'm in the hospital. I'm not answering the phone anymore. I told my hubby that I was sick of the phone calls and he doesn't understand and told me to buck up that they all just care. So he's answering the phone today and is starting to understand what I'm talking about. I think he's getting a bit annoyed as well. I think I hit my limit when my neighbour asked me if I've had a baby yet as I'm walking to my car. Really??? Did I have the baby??? I don't know...what do you think? DO I LOOK LIKE I'VE HAD A BABY YET??? grrrr... I know, I know, soon it will be all over and these phone calls won't matter, blah blah blah. But until then, I need to vent to some women who understand. Thanks for reading.
KevinsMilf08 - 1 days ago
Missy, you took the words right outta my mouth! I'm SO tired of being asked why I haven't had the baby - as if I somehow magically know the answer...??
alex76 - 1 days ago
Hi girls, I just wanted to send my support to those of you unexpectedly passing your due dates. I was 10 days over first time round and know just how stressful it is. I seemed to be plagued by constant phone calls, comments etc that turned me into a coiled spring. I would be in tears for the slightest thing. I know everyone says this but it's true, your babies will all be here real soon and trust me as soon as they are this time is almost completely forgotten! It does leave you with something though - you feel bad for every overdue woman out there. Lots of contraction, waters breaking mucus plug baby dust to you all xxx

Taking a long warm bath today... Went to church this morning and had about a million people say 'You're STILL here?!' Wow, and people wonder why I don't pick up the phone, socialize, or go anywhere. ;)
