Dates and numbers:
There are 16 days until your due date on June 03, 2008.
You are 264 days pregnant.
You are 8.7 months pregnant.
You are in your 9th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: August 28, 2007 to November 26, 2007. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: November 27, 2007 to March 10, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: March 11, 2008 to June 03, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)
You are considered full-term now and your baby's final touches are being made. The crown-to-rump length of your baby is now 14 inches and the total length is around 21 inches. Your baby weighs approximately 6.5 pounds. Your uterus may be measuring about the same as it has been and is probably about 6.5 inches from the top of your bellybutton.
This week your baby should engage into your pelvis. If this is not your first pregnancy, it may happen later. When your baby engages, his head drops down into your pelvis and you might feel a slight sensation called `lightening` as the pressure on your ribs eases. As your baby drops into the final position for delivery, you may experience a buzzing feeling and shooting pains in your groin and leg. Normally, you will be able to breathe and eat easier. However, your uterus pushes down harder on your bladder and you will have an increased urge to urinate more frequently. Even if your baby engages now, you still possibly feel his feet in your breastbone around week 40.
Your baby is now fully mature and ready to be born. However, your baby is still growing and developing every day. Fat is still being laid down at a rate of a half ounce a day. If this is your first pregnancy, you can expect to deliver closer to 40 weeks or shortly thereafter. If this is not your first baby, you might go earlier than 40 weeks! Make sure that your bags are packed for the hospital and remember to preregister for admission.
Your doctor may begin doing weekly pelvic exams to evaluate your cervical changes and progression. Your healthcare provider will make sure that you are not leaking amniotic fluid and will also examine your cervix to check for effacement and dilation. Before labor, your cervix is thick and 0% effaced. During labor your cervix thins out and right before delivery it will become very soft and 100% effaced.
Research shows your baby can be affected by stress hormones. Make time to relax, to have fun, and to rest.
Your baby has learned to coordinate sucking, swallowing and breathing so it can do all three when breastfeeding after birth. Babies practice shallow breathing before birth, using amniotic fluid.
Almost there! Did you know that we also have a month by month calendar for babies? You can find it in the menu under `Babies`: Month by month

Hi guys well i'm gonna try and bring some peace to this week :-) i think that since we are full term we ALL have thoughts about wanting our baby's tonight if we could.. I personally don't believe in anything inducing labor if its not by a doc or naturally...but.... Some women do. and i think that if one women says she wants to try castor oil then let her!! we all have our beliefs and opinions and should be able to discuss it without a fight or argument breaking out. At this time we are ALL miserable and ready for this pregnancy to be over with! I don't feel like coming to my week and having to read bad things. :-( i wanna read happy things and read about how we all help each other get trough this together!! I'm hope i don't start a fight but its how i feel... So lets keep the peace as we are all in a fragile state as of now. . . love ya ladies. :-)shortstuff -

okay here we go. Like I said I was not trying to upset anyone but it looks like that didn't happen. First off I've done research and you just said that dr and midwives recommend it for women 40 weeks or overdue. Last time I checked this was the 37 week forum unless I don't know how to read or count. My point is that women should not be trying to induce labor at 37 weeks. babyrae -

Hi ladies i'll be joining you tomorrow but i had a quick question... I'm feeling REALLY weak... I'm taking nap and eating right and drinking plenty water... Does this sound like a symptom of anything? If it continues i think i'll call up to L and D to see what they say.. newmommac -

shortstuff- actually...if you research that information you will see that studies have been done proving that it is not castor oil which causes meconium...typically midwives and drs. recommend castor oil to induce labor in women 40 weeks or overdue. Because these women are overdue, the babies are more likely to have meconium pass and thus this has been attributed to the extended time in the womb and not the castor oil. And when you consider the negative affects of a chemical induction (petocin), castor oil has been preferred by a lot more midwives and ppl who focus on natural birth. MommyRyan24 -

In Oregon you are considered full term at 36 weeks. At full term it is safe for your baby to come out. some babies grow faster then others and some grow slower. Alot of dr. consider full term 38-42 weeks and that is why. They give you a couple of weeks to have then early or late. shortstuff -

While I'm not a DR or a nurse I wouldn't suggest that anyone take castor oil to start labor. I have heard horror stories from taking castor oil. It causes the baby to have a bowel movement before birth. If the baby gets any of that in it's lungs it can cause lots of problems even death if it's enough. Is it worth it to risk having your baby in the NICU because you couldn't wait 3 weeks? That is not a risk I would be willing to take to have my baby early. If I needed to have my baby early my DR would be inducing me or giving me a c-section. The decision to have our babies early is not ours. Your babies will make their grand entrance when they are ready or your DR decides it's time. Not trying to upset anyone just speaking my opinion. newmommac -

I'm just a bit confused....isn't pregnancy suppose to be 40 weeks? So many are trying methods to bring on delivery now as if it's time. Isn't it better for baby to stay in there at least until the beginning of week 38 at the earliest?stschopp -

I've been 3cm dilated since i was 34weeks. Just found that my cervix is 70 to 80% thinned out. I don't post many comments on here. It hurts soo much just to sit up.So sitting at the computer is really painful sometimes. Standing or laying down is the only way to go for me right now...lolmommablom -

I am SOOOO excied to finally know too...BOY or GIRL?!!!!!!carolina -

Okay everyone!!!!!!
Last post until I'm back with our babe from the hospital!!! We leave in the morning around 6:30 am, and if all goes well I hope to be home Monday, but because of the 'growth' issue, we might have to stay longer, or if the induction goes not so well and ends up in c-section. I have NO access to the net until I get home- WISH US LUCK!!! and best of luck to everyone here too..... Keep poppin them babes out :_)

There has not been a boy born in the family for over 75 yrs. My grandpa was the last one, he had two girls, my aunt who had 4 girls and my mom who had me, my cousin who has a daughter and I am on my second daughter. If there was ever a boy born, he would be soooo spoiled!stschopp -

carolina, that is sooo funny.... we had a girl first and there are NO boys in my family... we are all and all had girls, I was certain my second was going to be a girl and told my husband we HAD to try for a boy the 3rd time around but would stop at 3 if it was another girl. He totally agreed since he wants a son. I was so shocked i cried for hours after we found outthis one was a boy. The funny part is after finding out... 3 of my family members became pregnant.... ALL BOYS!! How wild!! I really hope you get your boy!!! But i have to say i will always feel a little bad that my daughter won't have a sister, I have one and if your lucky they will be your best friend throughout life!! My sis's daughter is 9 months younget than mine so i hope they will bond in that way, but just look at it this way.. you are giving your daughters the gift of sisterhood, and there is no greater friendship!!carolina -

it's really because i want to try for a boy, with this one it will be the 2nd girl, and it runs in the family that there are only girls and no boys, and i just want to try till i have a boy. my sister is pregnant with her 3rd girl so the same could happen to me, so i just want to make sure i could try till i have a boy.kerrin -

well i really hope everything goes your way!! :) It would be great if you get what you want... Its ashame that the Dr is having you ahdere to his schedule..... if you REALLY REALLY want to have the VBAC just try the other hospital, if your Dr will be gone anyway is it a big deal to go to another hospital? Im new to my area so Ive never even been to the hospital im delivering at on Wed! I just asked around and found a Dr that delivered at the hospital everyone recomended for c-sections!! I hope it all works out!!! P.S. I love children and always wanted a big family, but my hubby wants to stop at 2 (totally ok btw after this pregnancy) but i admire your strength to ensure you get your big family!! Good Luck carolina -
8.1 hours ago
stschopp- well the only really reason i want to try for a vbac is because i want to have more kids, and if i do the c-section theres a risk of only having 3 or maybe 4, but it's not recomendable. so in the future i don;t want to regret of not trying for the vbac if something goes wrong i just want know i try, but the dr. is not giving me enough time to star labor naturaly.stschopp -
8.2 hours ago
carolina.....ouch! Im having my second on cs on wed... i think im more scared to try vbac... id rather the cs!! But i got over it really quick the 1st time with no complications- my Dr. didn't even give me the option of vbac but it freaks me out for some reason... But its WAY understandable that you don't want to go through that again!! I don't blame you!!carolina -
8.3 hours ago
stschopp- no but with every c-section there a big risk of having complications, and the dr. said that it depends on how is your scar tissue, but like with my 1st c-section i had an infection afterwards and they had to reopened it again till it close by itself, so i don't know how is my scar tissue. stschopp -

stschopp- I have my license in mass Tx and have been massaging the labor points but to no avail, I agree that it may be a good idea to have someone relax me cuz I am not doing a good job myself, Maybe i'll tell hubby that the dr. recommended it so he can pay lolkerrin -
8.7 hours ago
Carolina- I have had a few minor complications and had to go to another hospital for a more intensive u/s so now I have 2 different due dates , so it's only a guesstimate, the other way to induce naturally is probably castor oil but I wouldn't recommend it I am miserable and have tried sex, walking , using my breast pump for nipple stimulation, spicy foods, and doing squats,NOTHING has worked, castor oil is not safe cuz the baby can end up pooping and swallowing it and it can cause respitory probs. stschopp -
8.7 hours ago
kerrin, i forgot to tell you that i went and got a massage too. There is actually special pressure points that they 'say' can trigger labor.... it didnt work for me but was wayyyyy worth the try..... it was very very relaxing and i would TOTALLY recommend it.the woman doing the massaging said she couldn't 'try' to put me in labor, but she really did all she could and although it didn't work for me its a relaxing way to try... hust make sure you go to someone liscensed to massage pregnant women!carolina -

Hi ladies!I need your help!! this is my dilema, ok based on my lmp my due would of have been in may 10 but the ultrasound said that is was june 1st, so i don't know if iam really over due or not. yesturday i went to the doctor and he said that she was still very high and no dilation at all. my dr. is going off for vacation on thursday may 22 and he is coming back until june, 2nd. the problem is that i want try for for a vbac(vaginal delivery after a c-section) and he is the only one who would do it in that hospital, so if i don't go into labor monday night he said he would do a c-section on tuesday may 20, and idon't really want another c-section. does anyone know what could cause to induce labor naturaly, the doctor said only sex and that he knew another thing but but he woul'd tell me because it wasen't save for the baby. so i don't know if my dr. is doing all of these things so that he would have to do a c-section because he dosen't want to take the risk. so i don't know what to do if to have a c-section or to do something to star labor before tuesday or just go to another hospital to try for a vbac, but it does concern me about if iam really over due or not, because if i would be i guess i would just go for the c-section because i don;t want to risk my baby if i am really overdue. does anyone know how accurate are the ultrasounds. please give me your advice i would really apreciated. sorry for the long post, iam just so confused and i need help!!kerrin -

hey have any of you tried reflexology? I was over due with my first baby and had it done and I went into labor the next day. I dont know if it was a coincedence or if it really worked but the lady who did it for me told me that they have had good luck with it as long as you are close to your due date or overdue. A friend of mine did it to and it worked. I was going to do it with this one but im getting induced thursday so I think I can wait it out. Just thought I would throw that idea out for you all who are trying, its worth a shotstschopp -

I did it ALL!! You name it - nipple stimulation - primrose oil - teas - sex- walking for hours - squats - stairs -spicy food! NOTHING worked.2 of my girlfriends at the time were also prego with thier 1st and they partook in these tasks also - none of us had any luck!! Not to discourage you, but i went 2 weeks late and i started trying all these ways to induce at 39 weeks. The baby just comes when it is ready. I know thats not at all what you want to hear!! I was sooo mad after all of my failed attempts! It may be different for your but just be careful, you don't want to push your body for something its not ready for.. My dr is taking my baby at 38.1 weeks instead of 39 like normal cause i am sooooo unconfortable, he is so heavy i can barely walk sometimes, so try appealing to the Dr.'s human nature for an inductin. If its your first you may be unlucky in asking but it couldn't hurt!!! Good luck!!! You've got my prayers!!jadeysmommy -

37 weeks~may 16, 2008 ...
appt went well, finally met the last Doctor in the group and by far he is the BEST!!
i am thinning but no dialation, go for nst and fluid checks twice a week and will be getting induced probably by the end of May. He said if any changes like dialation starts, movements decrease or fluid gets low they will just send me that day to the Hospital. She, he thinks will be over 6lbs so thats great! Her belly is still 3 weeks behind and my belly measurement (which he said isn't accurate anyway) is 35 weeks.
So he said definalty wouldn't go passed June 2nd, due date, and prob will be induced before then anyway.
