Your baby now weighs over 5.5 pounds and its crown-to-rump length is approximately 13.2 inches. Your baby's total length is around 20.25 inches at this point. Your uterus is now 6 inches from the bellybutton and the average weight gain is approximately 24 to 29 pounds.

Most pregnant women begin to feel cramped and heavy around this time and often become tired of being pregnant. Some women feel like they do not have to room to breathe or eat. You should eat small, but frequent, meals and rest as often as you can throughout the day. Your cervix will begin to dilate and efface within the next few weeks to make room for your baby's head to emerge from the birth canal. Your cervix needs to be 10 cm dilated in order to deliver your baby.

This week of your pregnancy your baby's fingernails will have definitely reached the tips of his fingers. When your baby is born, his nails may look long and pointy. Your baby is less likely to scratch himself at this point because of the lack of room in the uterus. Fat deposition will still continue and your baby is getting chubbier and rounder. Your baby's shoulders are plump at this point.

The baby begins to develop its own immune system.

my dad says that i might have the baby soon..he thinks the end of may and that i wont make it to middle of june!! because ive been having really hard pushing and pressure on my stomach for about 3 days..and sometimes i get small tiny contractions that dont hurt too much but im thinking i should try to get ahold of my doc soon..got an appointment on tuesday though so shouldnt be too abd...wish me luck ladies!

breecole...and everyone else...I just want to say that WE CAN GET RID OF THE STRETCH MARKS!! if you have a dermatologist that you can go see there is a prescription cream called Retin-A that you can use starting the day you give birth IF you are NOT breast feeding. My dermatologist gave me a prescription for it and he told me that as long as they are reddish still and not white yet than they are treatable...If your worried about stretch marks or your self confidence may be low because of them then I would look into it, because I am only 20 yrs old and I really don't want to have too bad of marks so I asked and he gladly wrote it out for me!! I hope all is well with everyone...and WE ARE ALMOST THERE!! YAY!!!

False labor sucks!! i've been experiencing some episodes.. i just know its false labor cause my doctor told me if you walk and it makes the contraction worst its false.. if you walk in real labor it should help some.. anyways i know we have 5 weeks left and everyones saying were almost there da da da.. i think my little bug is going to be late. i dont know why i just gotta feeling :( I just hope everythings okay and healthy.

star- me too! since i had sex today, all through birth class, ive been having em too, back and period crampy feelings. trying to ignore it, working pretty well. i will give it till tomarrow, or something major like water breaking, mucous plug etc. or if they hurt worse, closer together etc. freaking me out though...

Here I am 35 weeks and 2 days pregnant.. my contractions are 30 mins apart for the past hour and 1/2..I already took a trip to the ER 3 weeks ago.. and it was false labor.. these contractions are just very uncomfortable right now... not really painful..so if they get any closer and start hurting then I will have to take another trip to the ER. BLAH.. anyone else having this problem?

I will be going back to work as soon as I feel up to it-might be 2 weeks after baby gets here or it might be 6-8 weeks..lol..Probably start going back here and there within a month though....Also my hunny is hoping to switch to 2nd shift which would leave him free to watch the two little guys (my 4 yr old and new baby)while I work in the mornings..I hope that works out since then I wouldn't have to worry about daycare...I don't like putting my kids in daycare:(

I am making a small mixed loose chocolates and cookies pack for them all. I have 5 games and brought the same gift for each prize, just a little tea light candle holder ... ;-)

my partner has put me on a no sodium diet, because of my high blood pressure.... so i'm eating only raw foods. it was ok the first day, but i'm starting to feel emotional now... i want carbs and cheese and sweets. on top of that its blazing hot here, i feel so miserable.

I just want to give some of you 1st time moms a little advice. I know they all say drink lots of water and keep hydrated, but you really should. I learned the hard way 1 of the things that can happen if you don't. I went in with preterm labor and they couldn't start an IV. My veins kept rolling. They blew 3 veins while trying to give me an IV. It was the most painful thing. They would get the needle in and dig around under my skin until they would finally hit the vein, then it would blow up. They finally got the IV started. But I am bruised and more sore than ever!!! They told me if I had been hydrated they don't think they would have had as hard a time starting the IV. I didn't have any problems like that with my 1st. So it's so easy to drink more water and PowerAde and spare myself the pain when I need an IV again! Good luck to all!

im going to shoot somebody.. I can handle stretch marks on my belly and sides.. I can handle the constant heart burn.. the 3 months of morning sickness.. and all the body aches... and the emotions.. but i was just looking in the mirror.. and i was in a pair of shorts.. my legs(the back of my kneees) have stretch marks!! their little but bright purple. I wanna die. I love wearing shorts and skirts and i haven't even gotten big.. its just from swelling.. ive gained 19 pounds. I just hate this. theres nothing i can do now that i've got them. they dont go away. i feel so ugly and so unattractive right now. really did a blow on the self confidence.

In Japan they say you are pregnant for ten months. So does the Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy. It all works out to the same so I got used to it but it drove me crazy at first too. Can't believe we're almost finally at the end and by next month will be holding our sweet little babies!!!!

According to this website, I am 35 weeks today! Yipee! I just thought that I might write to first time moms about getting prepared for baby. One of the smartest things I did as the days to delivery got closer, was to pack an extra bag of clothes in my car when I went to work. I was so fearful my water might break while I was out. I also started to wear a pad (not panty liner) about two weeks before I was due. Thank goodness I had the foresight to be prepared, because my water did indeed break at work, but I was completely covered. Oh, I also packed a bath towel in my bag, and it was really handy...I didn't leak onto my car seat at all.

So I work in a hospital and they just called code pink over the intercom. Code Pink in this hospital means infant abduction. For you moms to be, be sure to ask what form of security they use with newborns in the hospital you will be delivering at. Here at this hospital there is a sensor on the tags/bands that are placed on our newborns and if a newborn becomes abducted the alarm will go off once the abductor/suspect reaches the elevator. I know it is scary to have to think of the possibilites but it happens.

Notesfam: I am jealous. I am having a C section as well and I still had to get one. I was told that the chances are very rare but the bacteria can still go up through the vaginal cavity. Not that it was bad or anything, just a swab, but thats not fair.

melsniff~ I agree that we are only prego for 9 CALANDAR months but I know that in LUNAR months we are pregnant for 10 because the lunar cycle is only 4w, but most people live by calandar months not lunar months so it is more correct to say 9 months. Just My Opinion :)

On a more exciting note, my new stroller got here today!! Does anyone else have a phil and ted? If so, how do you like it? I can't wait to get my 2 year old in it to try it out! The best part is it can be a single or a double and there's 4 different ways to position the seats for the kids to ride! Now I just have to sell my old stroller!

we are only pregnant 9 months, not 10. Yes, 36 weeks divided by 4 weeks is 9, but that's only allotting for 28 days in a month. Each month has 30 or 31 days, not 28. So if you account for those extra 2 or 3 days in each month times 9 months, that gives you your extra weeks. The easiest way to figure it is every 4 1/2 weeks is another month because 4.5 weeks times 9 months = 40 weeks! Sorry to go off on a tangent, but it drives me crazy when people say we are preg for 10 months! Lol, hope that made sense! In any case, we are almost done!

The best gift for baby Justin is diapers, money, or gift certificates to Wal-mart, or Target.' Let me tell you, It turned out really well. so ive been really lazy lately... i know ur suppose to be moving around and walking and stuff so u dont have a hard labor,but im so tired and i cant move around,plus i live in a tiny town where there is only a few of my frineds who live here,everyone else lives in the next town over and i dont drive,so i never see people becaus etheir always busy and lots of my friends are still in skool...so i dont really have anybody to walk around with or do stuff with and im kinda scared about the whole hard labor thing,ive been laying around the house forever,almost everyday except the little walks to the store and stuff and i cant just sit out in our yard cuz we dont have a very big one or any lawn chairs for that matter...wat do i do??

So I had my Dr appt today and they did the Strep b swab and a pelvic exam. I was not dilated put she said my cervix was soft and thinning out, 70% effaced, and babies head was engaged at +1 station. Then, she decided to send me to L&D because my B/p was slightly elevated. UGH! So I spent 2 1/2 hours over at the hospital hooked up to a monitor. They drew some blood and all turned out well, and they sent me home. Not much longer now, going every week, so i'm excited!

I had my 35w appt today and things looked good, I had my GBS swab today and my OB checked me, he asked if I wanted to be checked and I told him he could but I felt like I am still high, hard, and closed and I was right LOL We talked about how much pain I am in, how I can't sit or my legs fall asleep, I can't roll over by myself, I can't walk without being in pain from the SPD, and how I am having trouble catching my breath because she is so big. He said 'Let's get her out!' then he looked at my chart and said 'oh it's still a little early.' He did tell me that if I go into labor on my own he wont stop it and he will just deliver so I am starting on the EPO to see how far that gets me and then next week I will start doing some black cohosh root. fingers crossed that I can get something started, I really want to deliver on the 7th! He gave me a Rx for fioricet for my migrains, they are soposed to be really great at getting rid of all signs of a migrain but the pharmasist said they may make me dizzy, tired and a little loopy LOL. ok? I didn't see how much I have gained by my OB said it is so late in the pregnancy now that he doesn't really care how much because I am still in the negative from my pre-preg weight. I see him agian on Tues morning then the 29 then the 5th then I deliver!!! 3 more appt, 4 weeks from today and I will be holding my baby girl!!!! It can't come soon enough

Also, I have gone the 1st half of this pregnancy barely showing if at all. I was told so many times 'you look good, you dont even look preggers....' but just the other day some damn Asian woman said 'my god you are big, are you carrying twins'. Why is it that the damn boney Asian woman always make rude comments like that. I am not racist, I am half Filipina and half Mexican and my hubby is Blaxican (Black & Mexican). I work in a hospital and I see these women 6 times a day, everyday when I walk to the restroom and now that I am popped out they are going to make a rude comment about my size........

People are just idiots. But at the same time when I was a teenager I would watch tv or movies and they always referred to pregnancy as lasting 9 months. I usually just tell people how many weeks I am but now that it is getting closer I just say, '5 more weeks left'.
