Your baby's hair continues to get longer and thicker. Your baby's hair color probably is not going to be the same color from birth onwards, so you should expect it to change in color. Your baby is shedding most of lanugo, but the amount of vernix caseosa is increasing. Your baby is taking calcium from you to lay down lots of bone. Continue to take your prenatal vitamins and drink milk to ensure that you receive enough calcium.
If you were to deliver your baby now, it would probably be called a pre-term infant instead of premature. The only difference is in the maturity, particularly lung maturity. A pre-term baby is less likely to need intensive care because its lungs have developed. Doctors can test lung maturity with an amniocentesis that checks levels of surfactant.
The baby now rests on your uterus and is no longer floating.
Fingernails now reach over the finger tips and the baby can scratch itself.

Hello ladies. Im from wk 26 & have a question...1st off, I'm so stressed right now. I live in Florida, & my brother is getting married in NY 9 days before my due date.By car it's 22 hrs. 2 1/2 by plane, & 28 by train. Seems the quickest way is by plane, but I'm terrified of them & scared of heights. Dr. said its ok 2 fly, but I'm not so sure. If I cant go, my mother & brother want me 2 at least send my 13 & 14 year old by themself. Everyones giving me a hard time about it, but I'm just so scared 2 send them so far away & I'm scared something may go wrong on the plane that I would lose my only 'real family' I have, which are my kids. I'm not all that close 2 my mom.Matter of fact, she just found out last week that I'm pregnant. I was scared 2 tell her cause i knew she would down me 4 being a single parent. But I feel that I've done a better job than her & I'm not a golddigger or depend on men to take care of me. My question is should i not even attempt 2 go?Should i send my kids even though it terrifies me? Am i wrong for feeling the way i do? I feel like i'm going 2 be miserable just 2 make everyone happy. Well yesterday while I was waiting with my sister at the ER for her sprained ankle, I was having some contractions and cramping. I was a little worried. I headed home and took a hot bath and things calmed down. I was still feeling really achy this morning so I went to the dr. My dr was out of town, and I had to see a different doc. He checked my cervix and said that it is still long and hard (so no baby for a while...which..I still have 6 weeks, so I'm ok with that) and maybe a 'fingertip' dialated. He asked me how big the baby was and I said 'I'll find out tomorrow, I have an ultrasound'. 'I think she may be breech'....oh JOY! I hope to goodness she is not breech...I'm not going to panic just yet...but I really really really don't want a c-section ;( Keep me in your thoughts, and I hope little Emily cooperates and is heading for south! Rachel, yesterday was my first appointment with a chiropractor for similar problems. He actually told me that your spine can cause alot of problems for your body, ecspecially with the added weight of being pregnant. I went to see him again today, he ended up taking me off of work for good until after the birth, but he also has helped my problems out alot so far.lilmama17 -

Being dehydrated can make you go into preterm labor too.
As for what you should bring. You really dont need much. Some clothes to wear when you go home, bathroom supplies, a robe if you want to cuz of family visiting. Camera, video recorder what ever pleases you. Maybe a change of clothes for dad. A going home outfit for baby, a boppy if your breastfeeding (it will help even just to hold the baby) ummmm....all your info. birthing plan if you made one. And I cant think of anything else off the top of my mind. Alot of the books and website tell you to bring a lot of other stuff that you really dont need. Oh yea I have read some people bringing there own pillows too. But feel free to add something if I forgot anything which i am sure I did.Rachel918 -

Just to let any new moms know.. Test your car seats out now!! We just got a new jeep cherokee, and we got a chicco carseat for a gift from my mom.. Well the damn thing doesnt even fit in the car lol... So i suggest testing out carseats at the store and put them in your car before purchasing or registering for them!!! On another note... im still sooo swollen and my left foot feels like its going to fall off i am in soo much pain i feel like every bone on the top of that foot is broken, im thinking its from only wearing flip flops and not getting support but wouldnt you think it would be both feet not one??/ ANy suggestions?meggz -

I just want to give some of you 1st time moms a little advice. I know they all say drink lots of water and keep hydrated, but you really should. I learned the hard way 1 of the things that can happen if you don't. I went in with preterm labor and they couldn't start an IV. My veins kept rolling. They blew 3 veins while trying to give me an IV. It was the most painful thing. They would get the needle in and dig around under my skin until they would finally hit the vein, then it would blow up. They finally got the IV started. But I am bruised and more sore than ever!!! They told me if I had been hydrated they don't think they would have had as hard a time starting the IV. I didn't have any problems like that with my 1st. So it's so easy to drink more water and PowerAde and spare myself the pain when I need an IV again! Good luck to all!luvbaby -

I have just been reading some of the post on the size of your babies. did you you know they are not exact. Those ultrasound can be 3-4 weeks of on your weight of the baby. I would not diet just because you are being told your baby are big. To me that is kind of scary. Maybe all doctors beleive different things.yari -

Ok, I have been having dreams that I am going into labor. Each dream is different and different people are there, but each time my b/f is not there and after Mason comes out I am always looking for my b/f and asking where he is at and everyone tells me they forgot to call him and I start freaking out that he doesn't know his son is born. hi all i have not been on here in a while its because i have officially left work and not managaed to get to a computer.34 weeks 5 days today....i had my 21st birthday last week and ended up in hospital as i had been spotting the night before....well the most gorgeous doctor did my internal (how embarrassing) and it turns out i have cervical errosion not really sure what it means but supposidly nothing to worry about and i havent spotted since but they sed spotting cud happen but if its red or fills a pad to go back in...neway baby fine heartbeat and movements were fine got midwife nxt weds.hopefully they will tell me she is guna be born soon cos i am sooo bored at home and dont have anything to do with me not having a house yet!! i can tell she hasnt dropped as even tho she is low in my stomach her bum is under my ribs alot,supposidly tho full term she is guna be 8lb am dreading it, how big!!anyway hope everyone is ok and i am gettin short tempered too and emotional cant win ppl who r helping just irritate me more lol, also seen as tho i have SPD does anyone else who has this know how they are planning on giving birth as wen i was in hosp they said i couldnt deliver laid on my back??xxbellababy85 -

However, that means Labour is getting closer &I am getting scared!! Had a tour round the delivery suite at the hospital yesterday - &heard the women in Labour which scared me - 2put it mildly! I don't know y it scared me so much coz I've watched birthing videos & things but in real life it just seemed so - well - real, i guess!!
I know it will be worth it - I'm just getting so scared :( And angry at my boyf coz he doesn't hav2 do it :) !!

For anyone getting those horrible leg cramps my Dr. taught me a trick today, I haven't tried it yet but he swears it works. The middle part of the bottom lip is a pressure point for your calves and used in accupunture to relieve calf pain/tightness. He says to push your bottom lip out (like you are pouting) place your index finger on the inside (must be in the middle) of your lip and your thumb on the outside. Now squeeze. Sounds silly but I will definitely be trying it if one of those beastly cramps wakes me up again! Can't be any worse than my little dance I do right now.

Our weather has been very cruddy this spring so far...50's - 60's with lots of wind. This weekend it is supposed to make a 30 degree jump and be in the 80's -90's. Holy cow! I've posted this before, but it seems to be getting worse. Anyone else experiencing sharp/jolting pains... down in their croch area? (sry, if tmi) Its been happening the last couple of days... and I was just wondering what it is? It deff. hurts enough to make me jump. I was looked it up on google.. and it said something about starting to dilate. I just wondered if I should call my dr. because I dont go back again till next tues. And I thought maybe it was possible about the dilating thing... b/c I have 2 diff. due dates... one would make me 34 weeks (which is what I go by) and the other one would make me almost 36 weeks.
