Would you like to announce the birth of your new baby? Do so by clicking this link: I gave birth!
Although most women will have already delivered their baby by this time, some women are still pregnant at 42 weeks. You may be thinking that you will be pregnant forever by now! Technically you are considered "overdue" now and most doctors will not let the pregnancy continue past this week. This is because the placenta will begin to deteriorate, which will make for an unhealthy environment for the baby.
Generally, babies that are born this late will weigh approximately 8.5 pounds or more! Some babies that are born now will be closer to 10 pounds. The head and shoulders may be larger than normal, which could cause a harder delivery. Forceps or vacuum assistance may be necessary. Because the baby has continued to grow and develop, his fingernails will be long and the hair may be longer than some babies born at earlier weeks. It is normal for the baby\\\'s skin to become dry and flaky from the constant exposure to amniotic fluid.

Ladies I have a question. My anticipated due date is November 2. (I'm 25 weeks 1 day) At my doctor appointment, I'm measuring only 24 cm. (You are supposed to measure the same # as you are pregnant) If the baby gets bigger a cm a week up to 40 weeks that would put me at November 10. Has your baby measured smaller and caused you to pass your due date? Please post on my page

My precious angel, Alysha Kellie, was born on July 16th. Will post my birth story on my page soon, but here's a brief overview. Went in for induction early Wednesday, having had contractions overnight. Was 2cm dilated, but not in proper labour. They broke my waters (they were tough, so they had to use the 'aligator claw', which actually pulled some of Alysha's hair from her head - poor thing!!) Then they put me on Syntocinon (think that's the equivalent of Pitocin). As I have had 3 babies previously, this got things moving VERY quickly, and I didn't even need a high dose. Alysha was born 3 hours and 20 minutes later. I actually went from 4cm dilated to delivering her within 45 minutes! I pushed her out in 2 pushes. It was amazing. Even though I was induced, it was still a very natural feeling labour, and also my fastest and easiest. Oh, and she WAS big as expected. She weighed 4.32kg (9lb 8 1/2 oz), and was 54cm long (21 inches). I fall more in love with her every day. Feeding is a challenge as always, but she is doing brilliantly so far.

Hi all you new Mommy's! Just wondering what breast pump you are using and if you are happy with it. My friend is renting a Medela Symphony and really likes it, but I would rather buy. This pump is $1300-way more than I plan to spend. Any information you can give me would be great-thanks.

Hi everyone, i would have been in week 42 today BUT finally gave birth Friday night 11:47 pm. Wow it was hard but now I feel great (well mentally not physically yet!) It turned out to be a baby girl: Ainsley Katherine Gray, 7lbs 1/2 oz. I will post photos and a birth story soon, the natural water birth I hoped for didn't happen in the end, wow I must've been through every possible birthing position in the book. Anyways I am home from hospital now and so begins the really complicated stuff!

Hi, its been awhile but I had my baby on 19th June and was 2 weeks late! I had my waters broken at 9.30 and pretty much went into contractions straight away. For me anyway - the contractions were a pain I felt like no other and by 2.00 I was 9cm dilated and was urged to have a natural birth as I only had 1cm to go....so I tried and tried but by 7.30pm nothing had change and by then I was screaming for an epidural (which was sheer relief !!!) buuuut I couldn't push her out for the next hour and half so I had the doctor deliver my baby by vontuse and hip hip hooray Samara was born! Then lucky me my placenta was stuck so spent the next hour having it manually removed which wasn't fun....then another hour of stiches due to second degree burn. But hey there's my story and all I can say is if you want that Epidural then take it as soon as you can...it does make the pain go away! Lol - the birth is easy compared to 1st month of motherhood, breastfeeding etc!!! Good luck!

I am having a hard time picking out a stroller! I really wanted a pram stroller but it they seem to be so expensive. I also looked at the bugaboo bee and I really like the quinny buzz strollers in pink or juice. Has anyone purchased any of these? Please let me know, thanks

This might be a little weird, and may have nothing to do with the pregnancy, but every now and then I get this strong sort of tingling like sensation about an inch to the left of my right shoulder blade. . . not quite the middle of my back. It feels like someone is touching me. When I first started noticing it, I thought my bra strap was just in the wrong place but when I reached toward the place where I felt something, there was nothing there. This sensation started at about 4 or 5 weeks pregnant and used to be just once every other day or so. Now, it has progressed to several times an hour. Has anyone else experienced this? Do you have any idea what causes it? It's not painful. . . I was just curious.

Hey! Just a helpful tip! I had my little boy 10 weeks ago, and he's suffered with colic something rotten. We found that 'Colief' suits him really well, but it would have cost us £80 a month to keep him on it and have it in every feed. We found a we
http://www.foodreactions.org/
If you look under the baby colic heading you can buy a product called 'Lactase Enzyme Liquid'. This is basically 'Colief' but MUCH cheaper. £10.05 for 15ml, instead of £9.99 for 7ml. The Lactase liquid does something silly like 180 bottles feeds as opposed to 'Colief' which lasts about 4 days.
Best of luck girls! XXX

Hello ladies - Just stopping by to say - you can do it you are almost there and to offer you this bit of information. I've just discovered that my precious Ryleigh has colic. *rolling my eyes* So as you can imagine my nerves are damn near shot. I can't take the screaming OMG thought I was gonna lose my mind. So anyway my insurance company has a free service where a nurse will call you every few weeks to check on you and the baby. She sent me this dvd called ''The Happiest Baby on the Block'' by Harvey Karp M.D. I am recommending this dvd to EVERYONE!!! It's great. Trust me. It teaches you how to call your baby whether it's colic or something else. I have to admit it worked. I was just about to give up and I tried one more time and little mama is sleeping peacefully. Thank GOD!!! So if you don't have this DVD go and get it. Order it from Amazon.com or where ever. It's worth it. I'm fortunate to get it for the low low (free) from my insurance company.

HOLY crap ladies! I can NOT believe how bummed you guys must be...42 weeks pregnant!!! I'm shocked at how many of you there are in this week. Sadly, I have a strong feeling I will be following your footsteps:(. I haven't had any kind of contractions, bloody show, or dilation of the cervix. My baby is huge, she's about 9 pounds already. I am scared that I'm going to give birth to a 12 pound baby. I was 11 pounds(the youngest of 6). All 6 of us were huge. The lightest was like 8 15. Good luck to you ladies and I am so SORRY for you all! DANG! lol

Hi Ladies- I hope all of you are doing well- I have a question. My body type is one that has always been fairly slim, but I've also always had bit of a small 'pot belly'. Even in highschool, if I let it all hang out I looked like I was 5 months pregnant- so I've learned to always hold my stomach muscles in. (this isn't a sob story- it really wasn't difficult to learn to hold it in- not a big deal) Anyway, right now I am 13 weeks pregnant and my husband and I started taking belly pictures. We have to take two because he thinks that I should let it all hang out in the picture, but I think I should hold it in the amount that I'm used to holding it in. That really doesn't matter, though- I assume that at some point there won't be a difference anymore as I won't be able to hold or suck anything in. I was just curious- to all of you ladies with bodies that behave similarly to mine, do you remember how far along you were when you realized that it wasn't much of a difference between holding your stomach in and not holding it in- or you just couldn't suck it in anymore? I was just curious- sorry so long- oh, and if you have no idea what I'm talking about- go to my profile, I'm going to post both of my 13 week pictures.
