Dates and numbers:
There are -5 days until your due date on July 19, 2008.
You are 285 days pregnant.
You are 9.3 months pregnant.
You are in your 10th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: October 14, 2007 to January 12, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: January 13, 2008 to April 26, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: April 27, 2008 to July 20, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)

You are definitely considered full-term now and you are probably anticipating the arrival of your newborn. The crown-to-rump length of your baby is around 15 inches and your baby is now about 21.5 inches long total. Your baby weighs about 7.5 pounds and your uterus is about 8 inches above the top of your bellybutton.
Your official due date will be sometime this week and you probably have a prenatal check up this week to check for labor progress. Try to stay calm while you are waiting for labor to begin. You should have all of your bags packed and ready to go and your birth plan should be in place. Your labor coach should know what your wishes are and you should be able to get in touch with your labor coach at all times. Use false labor contractions to practice breathing and relaxation techniques that you will use during the actual labor itself.
Your baby continues to move further down the birth canal and this is measured in stations. Station describes the degree to which the presenting part of the baby has descended into the birth canal. The 0 point is a bone landmark in the pelvis, the starting point of the birth canal. If your baby's head is at a -2 station, it means the head is higher inside of you than if your baby were at a +2 station.
After your baby is born, she will be weighed and measured. Your baby may cry loudly or she may be dazed from medications. The doctor will suction your baby's mouth and throat with an aspirator. The nurses will dry her off and place a hat on her head to help keep her warm. Security tags will be placed around her arms and ankles and your baby will be swaddled in a blanket. You will be given the chance to hold your baby right after you have delivered. Shortly after, the nurses generally take the baby to the nursery for a bath and other routine procedures. Your baby will be given Apgar scores according to her condition at 1 and 5 minutes of birth. A total of 10 points can be scored. A score of 10 is unusual and most babies receive scores of 7, 8 or 9. A baby with a low 1-minute score might need to be resuscitated and usually the 5 minute score is much higher after he has time to adjust to life outside of the uterus.
APGAR SCORE:
*Heart rate of baby-If your baby does not have a heart rate a score of 0 is given. If the baby's heart rate is less than 100 bpm, a score of 1 is given. If the heart rate is over 100 bpm, a score of 2 is given.
*Respiratory effort of the baby- If your baby is not breathing, a score of 0 is given. If breathing is slow and irregular, a score of 1 is recorded. If your baby is crying and breathing well, a score of 2 is recorded.
*Baby's muscle tone-If your baby's arms and legs are limp and flabby, the score is 0. If some movement is observed and the arms and legs bend a little, a score of 1 is recorded. A score of 2 is given to babies that are active and moving.
*Reflex irritability of the baby-If your baby does not respond to stimulus, a score of 0 is given. If there is a small reflex when the baby is stimulated, a score of 1 is recorded. If your baby responds vigorously when stimulated, 2 points are given.
*Baby's color- If your baby is blue or pale, a score of 0 is given. A score of 1 is given if your baby's body is pink and the arms and legs are blue. If your baby's entire body is pink, a score of 2 is recorded.
At the time of birth, the baby has a total of 300 bones. Some bones will fuse together later, which is why an adult has only 206 bones.
Almost there! Did you know that we also have a month by month calendar for babies? You can find it in the menu under `Babies`:

Hey, hope everyone is holding up fine. I had my babygirl on Monday 7/21 (her due date) all went well, I still haven't posted up the birth story, I've been so consumed by my little blessing lately. In short: I was induced the night before when I went in complaining of a headache/swelling, the Dr.s said it looked like the begining of precampsia and decided to induce since I was due the next day anyway. I was shocked as I was just checked for preclampsia (high bloodpressure/protein in urine) on that Fri. before and all was fine, nothing wrong. So, it took about 12hrs to dilate complete on the pitocin but only b/c the baby wasn't responding well to my contracions; her heartbeat was dropping as they got stronger. After a long induction (turning it on/off and giving her lots of rest inbetween) I gave birth and it was revealed that the baby's umbelical cord was actually wrapped around her neck 3 times! It was very scary, but all turned out well THANK GOD!!! I had the epidoral so I was able to sleep between contractions, labor didn't really hurt until the very end (last few pushes). I only got 2 sticthes. Well, just wanted to share with everyone...I hope everyone is doing good. To those who haven't given birth yet, stay strong and positive. I was going crazy the last few days, I feel ya. XOxOXblessedmom2b -

For those looking for any natural way of inducing your labor - I might try this. We have a eating place here where I live called Scalini's and they have a reputation that their Eggplant Parmigiana actually induces labor. They even put the recipe on the website! It's almost an hour drive for us to drive there so I might just try making it at home and saving the gas money! Here's the website for the recipe if anyone wants to try it! :) And if anyone does....let us know if it works for you...please!!!http://www.scalinis.com/Bambino.htm blessedmom2b -

Nesspop - at least you like having them here. My husband's mom and step dad came into town last Wednesday waiting for me to have the baby and it was more frustrating to me becaus I knew ppl were waiting and I couldn't do anything about it. I also have a friend that has been here for a month (she lives out of state) waiting for our baby to come. It's sweet that ppl are so excited but once I reached 39 weeks - it's really been miserable b/c our doc told me at 36 weeks that I would definitely go into labor early. I hope they are able to stay or come back in town when you have your baby (if that is what you are wanting)... for me, I need space...but we are all different :)dawniek -

Hey girls ~ Skylar Grace is here!!! And here's some major encouragement for any of you who are going to be induced. I was dreading it, thinking it would be horrible, long and full of meds. Went in Mon. night to have Cervidil and was scheduled for Pitocin Tues. morning (one week overdue). Dr. checked me and I STILL wasn't dilated at all. He put the gel in at 8pm. At 8:40pm my water broke, contractions started, and by 1am she was born! No pitocin, no epidural. Full birth story & pics to come. Hang in there girls - you're almost there!!!expectingmythird -

Christine ~ I believe it only takes a few hours for the gel to start working.. (some sooner) Then they may break your waters.. If I get induced on Tue they are putting the gel in at 6pm for things to start up overnight..ChristineA -

I went to the doctor yesterday and asked for another attempted membrane sweep. (Last week I was only a fingertip and she couldn't do anything). The doc was hesitant because she said I wouldn't have dilated enough yet, but she did try anyways. I was only at 1 cm which wasn't enough for her to do what she had to do. She did try to stretch but said that it didn't do anything. On the flip side though she did end up pulling out half of my mucous plug (the other part fell out this morning!) She also scheduled me for induction on July 28. I sure hope my baby girl comes out without that! I've been having lots of contractions since Monday so I'm really hoping that they will amount to something soon! fuerteshell -

Hi everyone - I'm still here.. yep...still pregnant. Can you sense the excitement in my writing? . . . I've now change my cell phone voicemail telling people to call my husband b/c I don't want to take anymore calls from ppl 'checking' on me - why don't ppl understand that once you are THIS pregnant you don't want to be reminded everyday with questions about whether you are in labor. hellooo? I tell ppl we will let them know when that happens, yet they STILL call. I had a breakdown this morning over my sister in law and her 3 children coming on this Sunday to see the baby that we haven't even had yet. My husband didn't want to tell her not to come but I need a least a COUPLE days with the baby without extended family around so I can get in the groove and also give this whole breastfeeding thing a go... he didn't seem to understand. I think he finally told her though - it just made me so upset he was worried about their feelings over mine and my needing to adjust to everything. The first week alone is hard - I wasn't going to have any time with our baby without all kinds of crazy family coming in. Okay...well hopefully they are going to wait now. My mom is supposed to stay with me a week or so and I don't mind that - it's the extended family that I can't 'let it all hang out' around or at least I feel that way.
We went and saw the new batman movie tonight - it was great and I haven't really seen them all or kept up with it. I just hope all the bombing and guns firing didn't distress our sweet boy too much - I don't want him to have a bowel movement before he comes out. He was moving like crazy though!! We know a few ppl that have gone into labor while at the movies so I had some popcorn as my own experiment to see if that was the 'trick..' no, really just was craving popcorn and it's not like we could point to that as the reason if I went into labor tonight because I am 2 days past due now. For all those tired of being pregnant - you are not alone!! taysonrex -

Cabbage leaves and bags of frozen peas helped me. Some people say standing in the shower and letting the milk run out, but that just makes you produce more (your body thinks you are feeding). My nurse also wrapped me really tight before I left the hospital, and that helped too. Preggieteacher -

i think today is the first day that i truly got annoyed with people calling. my mil calls every single day during the day. everytime, she calls at the same time and asks me what im doing. i either tell her napping, or just laying down to nap. and even after that, she wants to talk. and the next day, its the same time again. youd think after 4 weeks of this, shed get the hint not to call me in the afternoon cuz she keeps waking me up. shes asks how im sleeping at night, i tell her im not, im usually up from 3-6 every night, and i dont go to bed till 12:30. she says, oh you poor thing. if she feels bad, quit calling and waking me. she calls every evening as well to talk to dh. he keeps telling her that when i go into labor, he will call. she asks me when she calls in the afternoon if ive had the baby, she asks him in the evening. first of all, if we answer the phone, obviously we havent. second of all, WE SAID WE'D CALL!! i told hubby shes pissing me off, he said hed talk to her, but it goes in one ear and out the other with it. my parents will call, but my dad calls me maybe once a week, and im the one who usually calls my mom (i called her lots before i got pregnant) they at least understand! sorry, needed to vent!mommymay -

I've been 5 centimeters since Friday and have no signs of labor. My doctor refuses to induce me. I went to the hospital because of back pain and extreme cramping and they sent me home. I didn't think they'd send you home at 5 centimeters. Are my doctors insane?thing2 -

After being induced at about 7 last night, I gave birth to Isaac James this morning at 4:04 AM. He weighed 8 lbs. 9 oz, and was 19 3/4 inches long. After 6 failed epidural tries, the 7th one finally worked! It was an amazing journey, and I'm so thankful for our little blessing!!!dawniek -

Hey Ladies,
Well I'm 3 days late now. I'm going to the doctor at 3:30 today to see if I've dilated anymore. I was 1 1/2 cm on Mon. and he said I need to be at 3 before we can start or it may not work and would be really painful. Pray for me! I can barely walk at this point because she is sitting so low my pelvis feels like its ripping in half.wandksos -

hi everyone! i delivered a beautiful little girl last friday and couldn't be happier. she was 6 pds, 6 oz and is so pretty! the only thing i'm struggling with is breastfeeding. are any of you going to bottle feed? i'm really leaning to bottle feeding and need some encouragement. i need someone to tell me that i'm not a bad mom if i don't breastfeed. anyone planning on bottle feeding? has anyone exclusively bottle fed any of their previous children? i just need someone to say 'it's okay'...'you're not a bad mom'...etc, etc. i just want my husband to participate in the feedings and alternate so we can get a little sleep. she is much more content with the bottle and i am a happier and better mom because i'm rested. am i bad and selfish?? newmommyj -

Hi ladies...today was my due date. I had baby Kara 1 week ago. I was in such a hurry to have her that now it doesn't even seem like I was pregnant....time goes so fast. You will soon all have your babies in your arms. It is so worth the wait!! Good luck!!lasosky7 -

newmomj So i know what the dr did when he had to reach behind the babies head. It means that your cervix is still posterior; facing your back. When you go into labor your cervix will come forward towards the birth canal so that you can deliver. I know it's confusing but basically it's good that the babies head is low but it means there's still some work to do before you deliver. I'm in the same boat girl. Look up posterior cervix on google. katem08baby -

So I had my sweep done this morning, and for the first time this whole pregnancy I am finally feeling contractions!! Not very close together yet, but I love that I am finally feeling something!!!
