Dates and numbers:
There are 66 days until your due date on July 28, 2008.
You are 214 days pregnant.
You are 7 months pregnant.
You are in your 8th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: October 22, 2007 to January 20, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: January 21, 2008 to May 04, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: May 05, 2008 to July 28, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)
You may feel as if you have been pregnant forever at this point. It might be hard to imagine being pregnant for another ten weeks, but your baby still has a lot of growing and developing to do! By this time, your baby's crown-to-rump length is a little over 10.8 inches and the total length of your baby is about 17 inches! Your baby weighs about 3 pounds now. Your uterus can be felt about 4 inches above your bellybutton. Your uterus, baby, placenta and the amount of fluid will get larger over the next ten weeks. You should be gaining about a pound a week at this time.
Because you are getting larger, you are probably becoming slower and clumsier. You should try to be careful to avoid dangerous falls. Good posture when sitting and standing can help you feel better during your pregnancy. You also should be rolling over on your side to get up after lying down because your muscles have stretched to accommodate your growing uterus.
Even though your baby is cushioned by the amniotic fluid, she can feel and respond to pain. Your baby now does `practice breathing` to get ready for life outside of your womb. If you have an ultrasound at this time, you will be able to see this. If your baby swallows amniotic fluid down the wrong passage, she will still get hiccups that are noticeable by you. If your baby were born at this time, she would be able to keep herself warm.
The skin begins to smoothen as fat deposits accumulate underneath. The fat insulates and is an energy source.

My baby girl is going to be Squanto Oglethorpe. Quite melodious, don't you think? (For those of you with no sense of humor right now because of the smoking discussion, this is not really going to be her name, we just haven't made a final decision yet. My students love the name, though. They call her Squanto regularly.)Number2intheOven -

I went to the dr. today because of my nausea and backache and cramping. Can you believe while I was there I had not one ache or pain....no contractions!!! Now that I am home my back is killing me! My doc said I am probably having contractions and told me what to watch for. He said the backache was probably because my body is trying to get my girl in position. Also when I got home and went to the bathroom I had quite a bit of mucous but no blood. I think she is trying to be contrary!!! Oh well, I guess I will take one day at a time and try not to be too cranky!!!bobbysgirl -

Hmmmm..Just an FYI..I personally wasnt offended by people putting there 2 cents worth in about smoking.I just didnt like the attack and name calling.I hope we all can be adults as we are bringing children into this world.Name calling and such is something we preach to our little ones not to do~lets start by being examples.I am far from being perfect and have my own things I need to work on.But I am a sensitive person to other peoples feelings and I felt I needed to say my feelings on what was going on.katcoat -

Yes I am so happy that David Cook won!!!! I really liked him!!! And I just watched the finally of Desperate Housewives and that was really good too> (gotta love tivo) How is everyone feeling? I am going through this depressed feeling of not really being excited about the day she gets here. I know that sounds horrible but I am really truley scared and wondering how I am going to be able to take care of her and my other 2 kids and my husband!!!! I already don't feel like I have enough time to be the best parent I could be with my other 2 kids. Anyone else getting this anxiety feeling? Please tell me I am not alone!!!! becky468 -

cottonaror - first and foremost... call your doc asap! I've been to labor and delivery 4 times so far (ya, hypocondriac first timer, what can I say). First time I had irregular bleeding after intercourse totally freaked me out but it was nothing. Second time I had such bad pains I thought I was in labor and it ended up being round ligament pain. The third time I passed out in the dentist chair and got a ride in an ambulance, seems that time the baby was laying on my vena cava cutting off blood supply. The last time I stood up from a nap and some sort of unusual fluid was leaking out of me, thought my water broke I was also getting braxton hicks and thought oh geeze this is it. Once more, ended up being nothing. Anyway, what I'm getting at is... each time I felt so stupid because lord knows I've read every book out there and should know 'what to expect'... But I don't! The doc always tells me not to worry and always come in if I feel something isn't right... they'd rather I come in 20 times and be nothing then stay home and be something... SO... Call your doc and tell them what's going on... Good luck girl!MT Princess -

I would have to say to all of you mommies to be who smoke, how could you? Your baby doesn't have a choice in the matter. If you aren't going to be quitting for yourself, at least make the change for a life that you are bringing into this world that doesn't even have a voice yet. There are way worse things that one could have to go through being pregnant. Just be thankful that you are healthy! Wouldn't you feel awful if something happened to your baby b/c of your smoking? There are so many people out there who either can't have babies and really want to or are pregnant and struggling without making their baby a smoker before it's even born.aville -

Since I uncounted some assholes this week, here is my new to 14 list: Things you never say to a pregnant woman
1. Twins? 2. Any day now ? (when you are 6 months pregnant) 3. Are you really going to eat this? 4.I only gained 2 pounds during my pregnancy and lost 60 pounds 2 weeks after 5. I never needed any maternity clothes 6. Your life is over, huh? 7. Hope you don't like to sleep too much 8. I felt like I was dying during labor 9. My epidural didn't take 10. Are you going to breastfeed? 11. If I were you, I would...12. I could never imagine leaving my baby with a nanny. 13. We can still call you about work stuff while you are on maternity, right? 14 And finally from a male co-worker...'Is it true you get hornier when you are pregnant?'Cher1108 -

Please go to my page and vote on a date for my baby shower. :)I`m due November 2nd. Should I have my baby shower August 17 or October 5? August is the month of my fiance`s birthday, October is mine. If I have it in October I will be 9 months pregnant. If I have it in August I will be 7 months pregnant. Consider the body and weight changes between being 7 months and 9 months pregnant. Thanks for your help.

I feel sick to my stomach with cramping and a lot of lower back pain. Wow pregnancy is great! I went to the doc yesterday. He is going to watch the babys weight and may induce me a few weeks early if he starts to get to big. I am measuring a little over a cm too big but that means nothing to me because with my daughter I was right on and she was 9 lbs. Found out he is head down though.az-mommy -

Can you provide me with your opinion? we live in the USA and my husband loves the name Elliot Jaxon (as far as the spelling goes- we have not gotten that far so I do not need help on spellings). When I first heard the name Elliot.. I was like 'NO WAY!' It reminded me of ET (the movie). What do you ladies think? We do not want a common name on the top 100 but we do not want a name that would make him stand out and get made fun of. My husband is sold on it... I am not, however, it is growing on me. As far as nicknames, we could call him Eli (pronounced like E-lie), EJ, or Jax. Which nickname do you like best? Do you have suggestions on names that are not common (but not made up)? Can you send me a message on my page? THANK YOU!!!! =)lisasimon -

I'm glad this topic of smoking came up. So much judgement goes around on this subject. I have been a smoker for 16 years now and it's been a struggle to quit even before I got pregnant. I tried to quit, but was unsuccessful during this pregnancy so I cut down from 2pks a day to under a half pack and I only smoke half a cigg. I feel guilty all the time. Let me just say that the more pressure you put on yourself to quit, the more you'll probably smoke. My doctor did tell me that the patch and Nicorette gum is safer than smoking during pregnancy and she suggested I try that to help the cravings. My sister was a social smoker and was able to quit at the beginning of her pregnancy and ended up with an 8lb baby. My mother smoked with me, worse than I am and I came out at 5lbs, 12oz. I understand that everyone has their own opinion about us smokers, but I'm asking that you guys don't beat us down. We could use a little support as quitting is extremely difficult. Good luck to everyone who is trying to quit. I feel your pain!izziebo -

As for smoking, I don't but my sister does. She wasn't able to make herself quit when she was pregnant. And yes the doctor did actually tell her if she found it too difficult to quit then she should just do her best to cut down as much as possible, that stressing herself out too much about it may be bad for the baby as well. Well, she went from smoking A LOT down to just a couple of times a day, maybe 2-3 I think? And when she did, she just smoked half the cigarette. We all know smoking is bad for you, but some people enjoy it & it's not super-easy to quit, even for a good reason like this. Honestly, I'm not for smoking, but I applaude the efforts of mommies-to-be who are doing their best for the baby. Even if that means they're unable to quit, as long as they are doing what they can.
As for myself, the doctor & everyone says I should be exercising more, at least taking walks everyday.. And I don't do that. I work 42 hour weeks, drive 45 minutes in and 45 minutes home from work every weekday and by the time I get home, I just want to relax! I really wish I felt up to getting some more activity in, but it's hard when I'm tired & ache-y. Anyone else having trouble keeping active? I've gained 30 pounds at this point, 1 sometimes 2 pounds a week, and it's making me feel so guilty reading my preggo books that say I should have gained 22-27 pounds by now!
Wow, really long.. Going to take a shower & go to work now! Get to see the doctor today & it's my birthday, so super-busy!chelseaAnna -

hi ladies, with this smoking talk we all know smoking is bad i smoked and gave up when i found out i was pregnant but then started again i have had a lot of atress with this pregnancy and i feel really bad that im smoking while being pregnant... but some people find it harder then others to give up .... its like telling an alcoholic to stop drinking straight away it doesnt always happen like that its hard im sure that people that smoke try and not smoke as much as they use to... thats what i try and do.. good on you mums that smoked and gave up when they found out that they were pregnant itake my hat off to you... but for other like my self its hard and even harder if u have been doind it for a long time..i think that we all need to realise that not every one is purfect and im sure we are all hopeing to have a safe and happy pregnancy... thats just my thoughts.. i dont think there is anything wrong with giving an opion on here but not a nasty 1 or judgemental one any way ladies hope everyone and everthing is ok with u all and all your bubs... chelseaLookitsErin -

I just read the whole smoking drama and I want to tell you that I can empathize with your pain. I am sorry for your loss, I too lost my father (Sept. 26, 2005) from small cell lung cancer -- he was 63 too. Early 60's seems to be the 'magic' age for life long smokers. He also tried many times to quite. I can't help but feel sad that he died so young and our little baby's eyes will never meet his grandpa's. It is a horrible addiction and I feel sad for those who do not have the strength to quit for their own health and the health of their child. I suppose we all make choices in our lives that aren't always the best... And regret will eventually come to those who do smoke, unfortunately. I pray for the day smoking is viewed as the drug that it is. I've watched too many of my loved ones die from this terrible senseless habit. and as Forest Gump would say 'and that's all I have to say about that...' On a more positive note... ONLY 10 MORE WEEKS TIL D-DAY...WOOHOO :) NavinsMom -

YEAH WEEK 30!!! Today my co-workers gave me a surprise baby shower, was totally unexpected! I feel so blessed :)
QUESTION: Does anyone know about chicken pox and pregnancy. I am supposed to visit family this weekend and my niece has been exposed and now everyone is freaking out that I'm going to get shingles and pass it on to baby. I think the best thing I can do is call the doc, but was wondering if anyone has heard anything about this. FYI I did have chicken pox when I was a child.
Have a beautiful week mama's!becky468 -

Wow, Drama. Carolynjh- don't apologize if some one comes on here and post a comment about smoking while pregnant than its bound to happen someone is going to state their opinion. There is nothing wrong with that. I never attcked the girl once saying shes a bad person I said its her body and baby and she can do what she wants... who am I to judge. Obviously what I said mad somebody else mad because I got a rude comment left back to me. You know what though who cares cause its my right to say what I want and it everyones right to say what they want. Its all stupid and yes lets pipe down and squash this topic. Everything is all good.
