Your baby will continue to open and close his eyes in the womb and may be able to see silhouettes of objects or even people in the right amount of light. Your baby should be moving many times throughout the day. Some of your baby's movements will be predictable and if you notice a decrease in fetal movements, you should lie down and do a fetal kick count. You should feel your baby move approximately ten times in an hour. If you do not notice the proper amount of movements, you should contact your healthcare provider.
Research has shown that your baby is not only able to hear, but also able to recognize your own voice. This shows that your baby can already learn, remember and recognize.

its my 2nd day being 29 weeks pregnant.. i went and had my glucose test today they wernt to happy with me as i was suppose to have it when i was 26 weeks..oops didnt taste to bad little bit like diet lammonade.. i also have this pain in what feels like my bone down there.. its painfull the doc thinks it could be pubic problem has any way else had this... i have always had a bad back and thought while being pregnant it would be worse not to bad yet.. been told towards then end it will get worse.. im starting to get a little scared about giving birth any 1 else feeling like this? any way ladies hope all is well with every one and there bubs!!!!happymommy2 -

I had a bad night last night. I kept getting up to pee and couldn't. I called the dr. this morning and went in and of course I have a UTI. I also had blood in my urine. I am now on an antibiotic but I feel awful! Now my back has started hurting and I am VERY uncomfortable. Hopefully tonight I can get some sleep. allyc -

yikes...I've been on zantac throughout this pregnancy. I had acid reflux even before being prgnant, so it got really bad with pregnancy. I take Zantac 150 everyday....uh oh.LookitsErin -

Thank you for the info on that article. I took prilosec and pepcid during the entire pregnancy of my first born, and she has been battleing asthma since birth basically. (my husband and i have no knowledge of asthma in our families)I just filled my perscription for pepcid tuesday with this baby. Hi newmommie25- my doctor said zantac was safe also, but just a heads up that I found an article which links zantac to increased risk of asthma in kids whose mothers took it while they were pregnant. If you are interested you can find the article on webmd.com it came out in March of this year. My doctor wsn't aware of this study...I stopped taking zantac once I read itAngelia -

As far as maternity clothes, since it's gotten warm, I prefer dresses. They are so comfortable and you don't have to tug on them to keep them over your belly and they aren't tight around the waist. My legs, feet, and hands ache everyday. Is that normal? One more thing, Im going to try to breastfeed, but Im not sure if I can due to previous breast surgery. So, if it doesn't work, what kind of formula should I use, any recommendations?cosmomama -

I am in need of some advice...
I am currently a teacher. Our last day of school is scheduled for June 20th (which would leave 5 weeks off until baby arrives). However, for the last three years, I have taught summer school. I am thinking of signing up again this year, (the last day of summer school is July 25th, 3 days before my due date). I talked to my doctor and he says that I will probably be very uncomfortable, but there is no medical reason that I can't do it.
PROS: 1) It is only three hours a day (from 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM). 2) I run the technology session, which means the students pretty much work on the computers the entire time and I supervise (I can wheel myself around in my roller chair if necessary to keep off my feet). 3)It is air conditioned. 4) The pay is really, really good, which will help tremendously when I am home with baby and not getting paid.
CONS: 1) I am very swollen now, which I am sure will only get worse the bigger I get. 2) I could go into labor at work since it will be so close to my due date. 3) It's going to be very hot going outside and getting to work - especially being 8-9 months pregnant in the middle of July.
I just don't know what to do since we could really use the cash, and I would still be able to rest all day after I get home at 12:00. Am I crazy to think I can do it?MommyWonder -

I was so pissed at my bf over him not helping me with his kids and the housework that I just shut down and gave him the silent treatment so I didn't scream bloody murder. woopsiebaby- I'm the same way if someone looks at me wrong i'll either cry or get very angry. Yesterday for some reason I was in a very irratble mood and everyone was pissing me off. I felt bad for the people at work because I was very unpleasent to be around. When I got home from work I started a huge fight with my hubby and I was so mad at him and I didn't even know why. Then I started to cry and that went on for a few hours until I cried myself to sleep. Its almost like i'm going through pms again. Also, my anxiety is through the roof I worry about everything. If I don't feel the baby move every second of the day I worry as if there is something wrong. I know my little man is probably sleeping but I can't seem to grasp that. I hope these mood swings go away soon cause i'm driving myself mad.jerirox -

cosmomama: i would get teh vicodine.. being pain and a emotional wreck because of it along with the stress that it is causing is probably more harmful for your baby that the pills. Babies can tell when youa re laughing and crying and yelling mad or happy... AS LONG AS you take the meds responsibly as prescribed and only when really needed your baby wont form an addiction to the drug... i had a shatter leg when i concieved and had to have surgeries, metal plates etc.. i couldnt eat sleep and was in constant pain ... i finally broke down and took the meds and now i am fine, i am happy, and enjoying the last 10 weeks of pregnancy... i eat well and sleep well and those are so important to baby and beign able to be active as helped the pain go away... so i dont need the pain pills no more... my baby is 100% healthly!!!! your health and comfortablibily is just as important as the baby's... good luck girl...alaskapups01 -

Cosmomama-I have the same pains, like a stabbing pain on my right side mid back and on my right ribs just like you said...although I thought mine were bad, after reading your post I am glad they are at least manageable. I'm so sorry you are in so much pain! My doc suggested stretching & tylenol, neither of which did much. I have used heat and biofreeze gel on my back which at least temporarily gives me relief when I'm at home and can sit or lay down for awhile. Grace -

hey yall. I really need help. I am having a very rough pregnancy. My baby is GREAT, so thats the good news. I, myself, however, have been in so much pain for so long that it has become a part of my life. It started with a pinched nerve on the right side of my mid back since March. It throbs and kills me all day and night. I can get no relief, take no anti-inflammatories, and the only safe methods do absolutely nothing. I literally can't even go down a few ailes of the grocery store without it starting to throb like hell. Then I got stricken with bad sciata going down my right thigh that literally feel like I'm on fire at night. I wake up screaming in pain and I scare my poor hubby. But it is so bad everynight and I am afraid to even sleep. NOW, since, 2 weeks ago, I have been having TERRIBLE rib pain on my right side under my breast. Everything seems to be my right side. The pain is absolutely unbearable all day and my ribs are bending, bruised and feel like they are on fire. It is even sensative to touch, so my shirts even really hurt when I walk around. Ice used to help me, but now I feel that it only makes me throb worse. I have tried everything that my Dr. has suggested, even physical therapy, but at this point, they say that it will not get better until I deliver...in 11 weeks! How am I supposed to live like this for 11 more weeks? I cry everyday in pain and we are moving into a new home in 2 weeks and I can barely pack a box up. It makes me feel worthless to just sit in bed and cry in pain. SO, my DR. prescribed my Vicodin, saying that it is safe enough and the ONLY way I will get any relief. Not only has Vicodin made me sick/dizzy in the past, it is a class C medication, which I have tried to avoid taking for my babys sake. Sorry to ramble, but I need to know if anyone else is experience this terrible pain and if you have found any SAFE ways to relieve it. My baby is #1, so we decided against Vicodin, but in the meatime, I'm miserable and disfunctional. I finally got on disability yesterday. Work was excrutiating. But I'm at a loss, and it seems to get worse and worse no matter what I do. PLEASE! If you know anything that has helped you personally with these issues, let me know. They say rib pain is common,as is sciatica, but not as badly as I am having it. And pinched nerves in the back are fairly uncommon. The combination of the 3 is killing me. I need help/advice. Anyone else giving Vicodin? I have not even picked up the RX, but I'm tempted to. But not if it will hyrt my lil one. Thanks for listening and any help is more than welcome!woopsiebaby -

everyday is a breakdown for me lately. We are in the process of putting up our house for sale. So we've had to do some updates that are turning into nightmares. Now all I do is worry about the house selling. Would you rather move at 7-8 months pregnant or after the birth?? Neither sound appealing to me! I am TOO stressed out! i have found some cute maternity clothes at motherhood (very expensive)and at rosses (very cheap), i dont know if those stores are only in texas or what. the other day i found the cutest two piece halter top maternity outfit at motherhood for $24 i thought that was a bargin for a shirt and pants! i have stopped buying now because i refuse to spend anymore money on clothes i think i have plenty to last me till im through! its so funny because i have learned to keep all my maternity clothes in a laundry basket i have two closets full of pre- pregnancy clothes. i dont even open the door to them because there is absolutely no need! i cant wait to get back in to them though! its gonna be like opening the doors to heaven. i dont even remember what i have in the closets anymore. also i tried wearing a pair of tenis shoes the other day. they were to small on my break i had to come home and grab the flip flops!! my feet actually said thank you when i put them on!! this weekend is our family reunion and its in a park im am looking forward to it but the heat is gonna kill me! i think i will jus grab a pan of food and head back to the hotel!!! lynt -

Hey girls last day in week 29. I just got back from my doctors appointment i'm measuring at 30 weeks, and the baby is in the breach position. He has about 5 weeks to turn around. Now the best news of all i gained ZERO pounds this week, lol. All together i have gained 16 pounds my doctor said the i needed to have gained a total of 15 pounds for now so i'm good. Oh yeah. Best place for Mat clothes is OLD NAVY. Tho be careful with the jeans. They stretch ridiculously. I bought a medium (i'm 5'4 and currently 145-ish) because the smalls were too tight on the thighs, and then had them taken up in the leg, and in at the hip, and I have the saggiest ass in the world. Finally squished back into my pre-prego MAVIs and just leave the fly undone with a neck-warmer smushed down around my hips to cover the fly...
But all their tops are not tents, and are really long and soft, and their pants are gorgeous....dasha -

Okay. So Holy Pain in the $@*$# Batman!
Question for y'all, because this is really hurting me today. I keep getting shooting nerve pain in the opening (collar?) of my uterus. In french its called the 'col' of your uterus. I recognize the pain because once upon a time I had an abortion, and they attach something to that spot to make you dilate to make the aspiration easier, and I'm having the exact kind of pain I did when they were forcing the dilation...Maybe I should just get up and walk around a bit and see if it eases up....I mean, I know that technically we can be starting to dilate minutely already, so maybe thats all it is, but holy crap! this is nuts! Doesn't help that Noah is doing a tapdance right down there too, but jaysus! If anybody else hurts like this, please let me know so I feel better....aville -

You are so right about the stupid elastic in the back of the pants and the regular fronts... it makes my butt and thighs in the back look huge! and also about our backs not being pregnant, and maternity shirts being too short. makes you wonder if the designers even have a pregnant person try these things on before they put them out.
Anyway, i think we should consider ourselvespretty lucky that we are pregnant in a time where the fashion is long, flowing shirts. We can easily go to any store to buy a shirt that fits and looks generally pretty good. As for the pants, well... let's just wear stretchy skirts.Angiepangie -

I just noticed the post about belly button pain, and since the 'belly button' page doesn't really explain why it can hurt,(besides herniation), I'll tell you. As you know, the umbilicus is where our umbilical cord used to be attached, therefore some remnants remain of its vital function. There are 3 ligaments that used to be vessels that run from your umbilicus to various parts of your body. The Median Umbilical Ligament attaches your navel to your bladder,the Lateral Umbilical Ligament(formerly the umbilical artery)goes from your navel to your internal Iliac arteries, and your Round Ligament of the Liver (formerly the umbilical vein)runs from your navel to your liver. So as these ligaments stretch during pregnancy (just like the other ligaments)they can be painful, causing that 'shooting' pain you feel in your groin(the M.U.ligament), or a stitch in your side(the liver ligament).A general soreness from the skin stretching also contributes to the discomfort, since the belly button has its fair share of nerve endings. I hope I didn't make this too boring or technical...I just felt everybody wanted a better answer. Angiepangie -

I gave myself a good scare last night.I was using the bathroom (just #1) and when I wiped I saw bright red blood. I quickly figured out it was from my hemorrhoids! It wasn't a little bit of blood either...thank goodness that's all it was! I almost forgot how bad they can get...I've had no pain or itching from them yet...I'm sure that will change as the weeks pass...ah, the joys of motherhood...I feel so glamorous! ;0)prflava -

I agree with the maternity shirts......THEY SUCK!!! I have 2 maternity shirts I bought from Target and all my other are just normal shirts that are stretchy. I do wear maternity bottoms like capris and shorts as of now because my belly is too big for normal pants. I like the normal shirts better cause the hug on your belly and make you look so darn cute with your bump hanging out all proudly.jessnkirk -

Yeah, I have given up on maternity clothes pretty much. Actual maternity shirts like to look similar to tents for some reason, my back is not pregnant! I just try to find stretchy long tshirts and cotton stretchy skirts. I hate how on maternity pants they have this elastic in back but regular front, so the front digs in to the bottom of my belly and the back is all bunched up!kla2200 -

I can relate to the maternity clothes issue. I am definitely showing but I can still wear a lot of my pants because they sit below my belly. I went to Kohls the other day and their maternity department was really dissappointing. I tried on three shirts and they were so short that my belly would be hanging out of them in a week!
