Dates and numbers:
There are 27 days until your due date on August 06, 2008.
You are 253 days pregnant.
You are 8.3 months pregnant.
You are in your 9th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: October 31, 2007 to January 29, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: January 30, 2008 to May 13, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: May 14, 2008 to August 06, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)
By this week of pregnancy your baby's crown-to-rump length reaches about 13.5 inches and the total length is approximately 20.7 inches. Your baby weighs about 6 pounds now. The top of your uterus has moved further up under your ribs and is about 5.5 inches above your bellybutton. Your uterus has grown a lot in the past few weeks as your baby has gained weight. You may have gained about 30 pounds by now and it is common for your weight to stay about the same from this point onwards.

Because the top of the uterus is high as it will be, breathing may be getting very uncomfortable at times. You might notice jabbing pains from your baby's kicks. However, within the next few weeks, your baby will drop into the birth canal and this will make breathing easier again. Most doctors like to see their patients weekly from now on to check for labor progression. Your prenatal classes are probably coming to an end and you should have already made a birth plan and discussed available options for pain control during pregnancy.
Your baby's face has filled out significantly and looks smooth and plump. Because your baby has powerful sucking muscles and has had layers of fat forming for quite some time now, the cheeks have filled out like a newborn's. Your baby's skull is firm, but not hard. Every baby's head has the ability to give slightly so that there is room for her to fit down the birth canal during delivery. Some babies are born with cone shaped heads from the pressure of delivery, but this will go away after delivery. The amount of amniotic fluid is at its maximum amount now and your baby may not be moving as much as she had been. As long as you still feel her movements every day, there should be no cause for concern.
The placenta is now one-sixth of the fetal weight.

So i go in they hook me up to the monitors baby girl is moving like crazy so they cant get her heart rate, so they send me for a bio physical profile by now she fast asleep and they cant wake her up so she gets a 6 out of 8 it supposed to be 8 out of 8 so up to labor and delivery i go for further monitoring. i knew everything was fine she had just tired herself out. so my doctor was on upstairs and i didnt get to see him until i was upstairs for like 2 hrs so he comes in and asks why i was there i was like u were the one who sent me here he was like oh!! so i explained to him what happened and he sent me home but no the less i was at the hospital for 5hrs for nothing had to pay $11 for parking it was just ridiculous!! ughhh i cant wait till the 21st so all these doctors appointments are finally OVER!!!carmendayle -

So I had a doctor's appointment today and had a nonstress test. I am 1/2 cm more dialted than last week which makes me 1 1/2 cm and still 80% effaced. My little girlie did fine for the test, but were doing another one next week. I'm really excited, I did have some contractions this past weekend and did make some progress, but not as much as weekend before. I can't wait to have my baby girl. I washed the rest of her cloths and towels and washclothes today. Her closet is all set up and I put the bouncy seet together. We are all ready. I still think she can wait another week or so though. Anyway I don't think she's coming soon anyway. Well just wanted to update you all... SandraD -

Had my doctor apt early this week, was supposed to be on Thursday but I had to make some changes. They did the strep b test but didnt check me. They did another U/S and we did get some good news. He had moved so he is not head down. Just last visit he was head up. So I am glad to know he had changed. It had been on my mind that if he didnt then we wouldnt have a choice about the c-section. I would rather give it a try and deliver normally. Either way as long as he gets here safe we will do what we have to do to make sure of that. Good luck ladies, we are all just right around the corner from our little bundles of joy. sharri -

elimama- Well because I will hopefully be breastfeeding I'm thinking about 3 to 6 months but it will really depend on alot of things. How the breast feeding goes and how the baby sleeps. If I get lucky and the baby starts sleeping longer I'll change rooms then but if its a eat every 2 to 3 hours for 4 months I'll just keep it in my room. I plan on just playing it by ear. Good luck with your little one :)elimama -

hey all, since everyone is giving a doctors update, I went to my ultrasound yesterday and my amniotic fluid is just getting lower. I was having contractions every 10 min. So they set me up for another ultrasound next tuesday, and if its still low like its been for the last two weeks, i'll be headed up to labor and delivery for induction. Doc says he wanted to wait till I was 37 weeks since the fluids are not dangerously low. I'm a little bummed because I wanted as natural a childbirth as possible, but if its for her safety, I say lets do it! So hopefully, she'll be here by next Wednesday! I have my 36 week check-up and sonogram this Friday!
A little baby dust to all! (Just to get things rolling!)LOL
also, if you didn't see my question below: how long does everyone plan to have their lil ones in bassinets/play yards in their bedrooms. When will you switch over to their own cribs?elimama -

I have to loosen the laces in my runners every time I go to put them on lol. I was supposed to have my dr appt today but they keep bumping me!! Now I have to wait till the 15th! By then I'll be 37 weeks and it will have been almost a month since i've seen my OB. I really don't like her and am glad she won't be delivering my baby. Hope all of you are doing well! :)babeemama -

Hello ladies. Well as most of you know I was finally given an answer to the sex of my baby....ITS A GIRL !! What a long ride that was. Not knowing was driving me crazy !! So doc said hes 90% sure. However since I was told boy so early Im still not able to believe its 100% girl quite yet. Take a look at the U/S on my page and let me know what you think. Thanks !!Heather-08-01 -

I have my strep test & first internal exam this week - yay! Have any of you been having pains in your inner thighs? Every once in a while I get a shooting pain in my inner thighs and I'm not sure what in the heck it is. I've definitely been having some vaginal/cervical pain over the past few days - although I know it's nothing to get excited about I'm hoping to hear that something has started (effacement or softening at least) at my appointment on Thursday since I will be 37 weeks on Friday.wedward -

It might be pain in your rib cage! I have been experiencing terrible pains in my right rib cage since about a month ago and my doctor originally checked to see if it was my gall bladder. The pain has been radiating all the way around to my back though and he said that wouldn't be happening if it were my gall bladder. Apparently there is a nerve there that runs from the the front rib around the back so I think my little girl just keeps pressing on it... anyway, could be what's happening with you!LookitsErin -

Oh wow.....just called my Dr. because after 2 days of this low back ache and cramps I couldn't take it anymore. I just needed to hear it was normal. So, the nurse proceeded to tell me that it 'sounds' like I could be in early back labor. WHAT!???!! Holy cow. I think I might die. I'm not ready!!LOL! So, I don't really think I am but I've been told to go home and rest and that if the back pain stays I really need to focus on whether or not my belly gets hard when the pain increases. I'm not leaking amniotic fluid as far as I can tell and I haven't lost my plug or anything yet. So, I guess we'll see. Wouldn't it be terrible if I went into labor before my baby shower? LOL. That is Saturday. I guess we'll see! :):) I guess if I'm in the hospital, daddy can go to the shower for me. :)MomJo -

bluskywishes - if your u/s scan of August 4 was in first trimester (near 8 to 10 weeks), then it is considered more accurate by doctors. If your u/s EDD (expected due date) was in the 2nd trimester then I would go with august 18 as babies tend to vary a lot in 2nd and 3rd trimester and it is hard to pinpoint. The best judge would be the doctor though. You can call them and ask what due date they have it in file for you.lil-mama-of-6 -

elimama-I like to leave them in the room with me for at least 3 months. I'm not a breastfeeder though so if you are planning on breasfeading it may be different. This is my last baby though and I like she'll stay in my room until it gets uncomfortable to have sex with her there.lolelimama -

My first post! First off, congrats to everyone for being so strong and making it this far. I can't wait for my little girl to be here, my second child. Here is my question : my latest ultrasound showed the little one was more developed, and they gave me a due date of Aug 4th. however my doctor is still saying Aug 18th. that's a 2 week difference! i'm going by the u/s date and taking off for maternity leave accordingly. is that a smart move, or should i go with the doctor's due date? i DON'T want to go into labor at work, i'm sure everyone could understand why LOL ! !Mercer -

Lots of news over the past couple of days.....My Strep B was negative (hooray) I have had every other thing they have tested for so it is nice to get a negative test result. After my appointment and ultrasound yesterday I got a call from my doctors telling me that they are going to induce me almost 3 weeks early on July 16th, I will be 37 weeks and 2 days. The baby weighs 6lbs 6 oz and is doing well with her practice breathing en utero. They have said she will likely weigh 6lbs 12 ozs when she is born. I thought time was standing still before.... it really is now that I have a date. I can no longer see life past July 16th, this is my first and I am incredibly nervous, scared, anxious, elated you name the adjective I am probably feeling it. I am glad the pain is unbearable, I am sure it will seem like child's play once I get to the real deal.bambina2come -

Hello Ladies. Hope everyone is feeling good today. I had my 36 wk doctor appointment yesterday, and from now on I have to go every week. I'm excited because I'm almost done! I had the StrepB test done, it was no biggie, and took all of TWO seconds. Then I had my internal, which was also quick and fine. My doctor told me my cervix is still closed, but softening. I asked him about my sleeping problem, and he told me I can take a Bendryl. I have been sleeping only about 3hrs. a night. I felt weird taking it because I have not taken anything except antibiotics when I was sick in my first trimester. I was still WIDE awake at 1:30am, so I took it, and slept great! The baby gave me the hardest kick ever at 5AM and woke me up, it was so cute. So the baby wasn't groggy at all from the Benadryl, because he/she was up before me!
Mercer~ I have had days like what you are having. I didn't leave the house sometimes for 2-3 days, lol! It comes and goes and is normal. My husbands friend told him his wife didn't leave the house the last month! Just relax and listen to your body.

OMG I have NO energy today... I can barely move. I took my son to school this morning and then went for a 30 minute walk and ever since then I have just been SO exhausted! I hardly slept at all last night because I just couldn't get comfortable and I'm feeling it now... I feel awful. Is anyone else having major lags in energy? I mean I don't even want to leave the house at all. ugh.becky468 -

Babeemama- I feel the same way. I eat then I'm off to find the next edible adventure. I've also been finding it harder to sleep at night-not just because of the hip pain but I guess just for the sake of being up. It's not like there's anything interesting to watch on tv. I've read my baby book's chapters on labor and delivery enough that the pages are frayed...what to do now?? :)
8 More days and the cerclage comes out! Nerves may be kicking in I suppose?tamian -

I also have spinal stenosis, that i had surgery for back in 2005. the doc was going to let me natural if possiable, and just wait and see how my body does...due to the pain if ask him or request for c-section and go ahead and take her now or in the next week or so at 37 wks, do you think it's a good idea, and would my baby be just fine at this stage? Thanks for any advise (much needed)xoxoxoxmommyxs3 -

Someone asked about Dreft... I though Dreft was a little expensive so I just bought the Target brand baby wash. It was much cheaper and I'm sure it's pretty much the exact same thing. Anyway, I started washing my little girls clothes last week and need to finish it up... I have about a load left (I also only had 2-3 loads worth) I think it will be worth it to wash the clothes though, Ladies because they have such sensitive skin at first....babeemama -

Hey fellow mommies to be! I discovered something that I really feel I need to share with other pregnant mommies...PLEASE READ THIS IF YOU HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH GESTATIONAL DIABETES... I was diagnosed a few weeks ago with a very mild case of gestational diabetes (about 6 points and 4 points too high on two of my blood tests in the 3 hour test) where we are simply controlling it through diet and excercise. I found that things that I didn't think would make my blood sugar spike, did in fact affect my levels. So here's my discovery...NOPALES. My mother in law recommended that I eat nopales (cactus) every day. This is an old Mexican remedy for diabetes, and you can take it with a grain of salt if you like, however, after watching my blood sugar levels remain consistently low after different types of meals, I found myself curious. I researched nopales and their effects on diabetes, and found that there have indeed been studies done on the matter. These studies have found that nopales slow the absorption of carbohydrates (the main culprit for my spiking blood sugar). If your diabetes is major, please do not do anything drastic, but if it is manageable through diet, like mine, try nopales! You may be able to have a small amount of those things you have been depriving yourself of to keep your numbers level. Sorry this is long, I was so excited, I HAD to share! Blessings to you all!kassiesheeley -
