Dates and numbers:
There are 31 days until your due date on August 25, 2008.
You are 249 days pregnant.
You are 8.2 months pregnant.
You are in your 9th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: November 19, 2007 to February 17, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: February 18, 2008 to June 01, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: June 02, 2008 to August 25, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)
Your baby now weighs over 5.5 pounds and its crown-to-rump length is approximately 13.2 inches. Your baby's total length is around 20.25 inches at this point. Your uterus is now 6 inches from the bellybutton and the average weight gain is approximately 24 to 29 pounds.

Most pregnant women begin to feel cramped and heavy around this time and often become tired of being pregnant. Some women feel like they do not have to room to breathe or eat. You should eat small, but frequent, meals and rest as often as you can throughout the day. Your cervix will begin to dilate and efface within the next few weeks to make room for your baby's head to emerge from the birth canal. Your cervix needs to be 10 cm dilated in order to deliver your baby.
This week of your pregnancy your baby's fingernails will have definitely reached the tips of his fingers. When your baby is born, his nails may look long and pointy. Your baby is less likely to scratch himself at this point because of the lack of room in the uterus. Fat deposition will still continue and your baby is getting chubbier and rounder. Your baby's shoulders are plump at this point.
The baby begins to develop its own immune system.

Random question - Ladies with boyfriends, husbands and/or partners...how do you split the finances? Do you do 50/50 or do you pay for things according to the ratio of your earnings? Or does one of you pay for everything?Mizzy -

some plugs have a little blood stain on them but this isnt the same as a 'show'.Alot of woman have a 'bloody show' usually just before labor begins.its usually just a little bleeding or spotting thats a little mucusy.i have never had this myself though.stmarys04 -

Hello ladies, has everybody started to pack there hospital bags yet? I've not even thought about mine yet.Mizzy -

jadarae- unfortunately losing the mucus plug isnt a sign of impending labor.most woman start to lose it a couple weeks or more before going into labor.I always got real exited when i lost mine, thinking it wouldnt be long yet the doctor would always tell me this.although it is a sign of a softening cervix! some woman lose their plugs just from having internal exams as well...adriennella -

So regarding hiccups - My baby gets hiccups EVERY time I eat yogurt. Have any of you noticed that your babies get hiccups after you eat a particular food? I hope my little girl doesnt turn out to be lactose intolerant or anything like that!amber9684 -

My first baby (who's now 4) got the hiccups all the time in the womb, I mean like at least 4 or 5 times a day, and while I never thought anything bad of it at the time, I can say that after she was born, it didn't change and she was not only colic, but she also had reflux real bad, so I'm thinking that obviously had something to do w/ it. She's fine now, but it could be an indication of how they will be once they're born (from a non-medical standpoint of view). I believe it was for me anyway. LilMamaC -

For any of you ladies living in California, I'm looking into the Paid Family Leave thru the state. My employer does not cover anything for maternity. Do you know if i can also apply for regualar disability insurance if i have my Dr diagnose me properly? Disability insurance can cover for a year (Which i won't need but would like the extra weeks) but paid family leave gets me only 6 weeks total. Dr may have me stop working as early as next week- 3 weeks before delivery due to high BP.honeys mummy -

YEAH, THAT HAS BEEN MY WHOLE PREGNANCY. I TAKE A MEDICATION CALLED KLONOPIN FOR ANXIETY AND HAVE FOR ABOUT 4 YEARS. WHEN I GOT PREGNANT THEY SAID THAT I DID NOT NEED TO GO OFF IT AND THAT THEY WOULD MONITOR BABY CLOSELY. NEXT THING I KNOW WERE LOOKING FOR CLEFT LIP AND CLEFT PALATE. NEXT THEY WERE LOOKING FOR LONG LIMB DEFECTS.THEN A 1% CHANCE OF DOWN'S. I THOUGHT I WAS IN THE CLEAR, BUT NOW RAPID HEARTBEAT AND HICCUPS. I JUST PRAY FOR A HEALTHY BABY. isabels-mom -

HELLO ABOUT THE AGING PLACENTA. MY BEST FRIEND'S WATER BROKE ON JUNE 3RD AND SHE WAS DUE ON JUNE 22. SHE HAD AN AGING PLACENTA. THEY EXPLAINED THAT IT STARTS TO GET CALCIFICATIONS. SHE ALSO HAD LOW FLUID VOLUME, I AM NOT SURE IF THE TWO ARE RELATED. BUT THEY NEVER DISCUSSED DEATH OF THE PLACENTA- NEVER HEARD OF THAT ONE. HE WAS A HEALTHY 7 LB 7 OZ WITH NO COMPLICATIONS. THEY ARE DOING A BPP (PHYSIOLOGICAL PROFILE) NEXT WEEK TO CHECK ME FOR THE SAME DUE TO MY RAPID HEART RATE. SHE ACTUALLY SCHEDULED IT BECAUSE I SAID THAT THE BABY HAS HICCUPS MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY (2-3)AND SHE WANTS TO MAKE SURE THAT THE DIAPHRAGM IS INTACT. HAS TO DO WITH BREATHING PATTERNS. ANYONE ELSE'S BABY HAVING HICCUPS OR HAD A BPP? SHE IS DOING STREP B AT NEXT APPT (36 WEEKS)AND SAID THAT SHE'LL CHECK ME WHILE I HAVE MY PANTS DOWN LOL!!

soon2be- a labor and delivery nurse told us in class that if you get on your hands and knees and do pelvic tilts (like a cat arching his back) and release and do a couple of times it might incourage the baby to move. supposedly this position makes more room in your tummy so she can move easier!MamaTash -

ldybug1752, yeah I read that, I tried it yesterday for about 10 mins, it's about all I could stand! I'm not giving up on any of it though, b/c anything's better than having them bruise my stomach all up to move her externally! I also heard/read to put an icepack where the head is and that the baby will move away from it, hopefully into the right position-so tried that yesterday til my tummy was numb on one side! She never moved! Next item on the list to try might sound silly but I'm gonna try it anyways-doing a handstand in a pool! lol Hey-I'm open to anything to beat out a c-section! If you hear of anything else that works let me know!!! :)lnd22 -

soon2Bmommyof3Amy - I've been told by a midwife that if you lay with your butt elevated higher than the rest of your body for 20 minutes a day your baby has a good chance of turning into the correct position. It doesn't always work, but she said I'd be surprised at how often it works. I've been trying it for a week now with no luck..ya never know!r1020 -

Isabels-mom, your doc sounds real bright huh? lol Face swelling is a big deal, especially if you have it in your hands and feet as well! tdotali, I've never heard of that before! Wow. Learn something new everyday. So how does that work-your placenta aging faster? That's weird. Hope all goes well w/ that-good luck!Isabels-mom -

I tell my doctor my face is swollen and he said that isnt anything we worry about, but before i said that he said... ' the only thing we worry about the most if swelling in the face, hands, and ankles, but face the most 'tdotali -

So it looks like I'm most likely going to be induced early. No date yet but probably in two weeks!!!) I can't believe he's coming so soon.
I was really hoping to avoid an induction, but in my circumstance I just want him out sooner than later. The reason for my possible induction (unless he comes early on his own) is becuase my placenta is aging faster than the baby. It's really rare, especially considering that I'm perfectly healthy.
I had trouble sleeping last night becuase I feel like a ticking time bomb. Right now, even though my placenta is 'old' it's still working properly, but I'm so paranoid of it dieing. But when I have those thoughts I do my best to visualize it working, giving my baby all the nutrients he needs:) I now have to go into the hospital to have weekly biophysical's, just to make sure that my belly is a viable place for him to continue to grow.
We're almost done ladies...we'll soon have our wee ones in our arms!!!soon2Bmommyof3Amy -

Bedrest sucks! I've got the biggest case of cabin fever you ever knew! (our local fair is this week and I wanna take my girls sooo bad and can't!) But sometimes it's totally necessary, it's just no fun. As if there's not enough stuff a preggo woman can't do anwyays, top it off w/ being able to do NOTHING at ALL, then it really sucks. I was on bedrest w/ my first also, due to Hypertension and swelling but I don't remember it being as bad then b/c I didn't have other kids to tend to. Now it's horrible! Anyways, I'm almost there! If this baby would get out of transverse position, I'd already be there, but I'm hoping she'll turn in time before I'm induced. I don't want a c-section. If she turned today though, I could easily go into labor b/c I'm having to take meds to stop it as it is..they will try to turn her at 38 wks before I get induced..anyone had an external version? Not looking forward to it, but would rather try it at least than chance a c-section! Also, anyone know any moves that WORKED to get their little stubborn one to move outta breech or transverse position?lnd22 -

THANKS, YOU GUYS! I ALREADY SAW THE MD YESTERDAY AND NOW THEY ARE DOING URINE STUDIES ON ME>>> I AM THINKING PREECLAMPSIA TOO... I AM JUST WONDERING IF I WILL ACTUALLY BE INDUCED AS SHE HAS SAID MAY HAPPEN. MY PRESSURES ARE ELEVATED, BUT THEY GO BACK DOWN IF I AM LAYING IN BED- I THINK I WOULD RATHER BE INDUCED THAN BE ON BEDREST UNTIL AUG 22!!! YOU KNOW??!!?tasha08 -

MY FACE IS TERRIBLY SWOLLEN ALONG WITH MY HANDS AND FEET. MY FINGERS ARE SO SWOLLEN THAT IT OFTEN HURTS TO BEND THEM. I CAN EVEN FEEL THE EXCESS FLUID IN MY FEET AS I AM WALKING>>>YUCK! ARE ANY OF YOU EXPERIENCING THE SWELLING TO THIS DEGREE? I ALSO HAVE AN ELEVATED BP SO THEY MAY INDUCE ME FAIRLY SOON. ANYONE GOING THROUGH THIS OR HAVE ANY FEEDBACK? I AM CURRENTLY HOME ON BEDREST AND DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO THINK! IM VERY ANXIOUS!jadarae -

Dr appt. yesterday-they did my group b strep test and checked my cervix; it was a one and soft she said and she said she could feel his head. So exicted I hope he comes a bit early (although I was a 2 with my daughter for like 3-4 weeks), not like this week but like maybe around the 11th or so:) How are some of you remiding your swollen feet? Mine are killing!! I try to get them up as much as possible and I even iced them last night but that didn't seem to help. They are so tender, almost like I have a sun burn on them.scorpgrl20 -

The fiance was born a little over a month premature at 8lbs 2 oz and 24 inches..he was a big baby for being born early. I was 8lbs 9oz so I am expecting 8lbs something for me too and that doesn't scare me..it is over 9lbs that scares me. Well I guess it can't be as bad as my aunt...her second child was 13lbs at 38 weeks when he was born through c-section....She was on bed rest from day one of her pregnancy due to complications with her first and an incompetent cervix..I guess the lbs just kept adding on being in bed and eating all day. lacywalk -

2:45 AM here...just woke up...more contractions but I am too tired to track them right now. I do not want to jump the gun and pay a hospital co-pay for false labor. I am drinking my water and moving around to see if they go away...we shall see. I went past my due date with my son (9 days over) and had a c-section becuase of his size (11 lbs 3 oz). My c-section is scheduled for Aug 20th. My doctor gave me the option to deliver vaginally but I do not want my baby to have shoulder distatia (however you spell). OK...need to go back to sleep if possible.Jenni927 -

Really need to vent.. 1st I'm scared tht this baby won't make it to his due date and I need him to stay in there just a little longer so I can prepare more. I had an appointnment and missed it due to not having any gas and money and Gas is so friggin expensive it's killing us over here! Hubby went to work on empty cuz he would get fired if he missed today.. He does stocking and they have to do 2 trucks poor Hubby.. Then when I tried to stand not too long ago I had to sit right back down cuz it feels like the baby's head is right there! Ugh so much pressure I need to use the bathroom but too scared to get up now lol.. Today I finished cleaning the whole damn house all I have left is the basement and yard which I will finish later when the sun's back up.. lnd22 -

Hey - I bought a rainforest high chair on clearance at Target today if anyone is looking for one. Regular price $110 on clearance for $54!!! I was so excited! They still have lots left too. Just read the reviews on Amazon and they are good. Yea!mommynicolem -

I don't want to hear anything from you ladies and your 5-6lb. babies!! :) When they estimated Evan's weight on Tuesday when I was 35w5d, he was measuring about 8lb.11oz.!! His head measured 42 weeks!!!! Doctor says they can be up to a lb. off, but still even a 7lb.11oz. baby is HUGE for this point!!
