Dates and numbers:
There are 39 days until your due date on September 04, 2008.
You are 241 days pregnant.
You are 7.9 months pregnant.
You are in your 8th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: November 29, 2007 to February 27, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: February 28, 2008 to June 11, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: June 12, 2008 to September 04, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)
Your baby's crown-to-rump length this week is approximately 12.8 inches and the total length is around 19.8 inches at this time. Your baby now weighs almost 5 pounds. From your bellybutton, it is about 5.6 inches to the top of your uterus. Measurements of your uterus vary from woman to woman. You should not worry if you do not measure the exact same as your pregnancy friends or family members as long as you are growing appropriately. When your uterus grows and gets larger at an appropriate rate, it shows that your baby is growing well inside of your uterus.

Braxton-Hicks contractions are going to get stronger and more frequent within the next few weeks. Braxton-Hicks contractions feel like a tightening at the top of your uterus that spreads down and then relaxes. Many women mistake Braxton-Hicks contractions for true labor contractions, but this is rarely the case. Braxton-Hicks contractions will diminish if you get up and walk around and they should not be painful.
Your baby's hair continues to get longer and thicker. Your baby's hair color probably is not going to be the same color from birth onwards, so you should expect it to change in color. Your baby is shedding most of lanugo, but the amount of vernix caseosa is increasing. Your baby is taking calcium from you to lay down lots of bone. Continue to take your prenatal vitamins and drink milk to ensure that you receive enough calcium.
If you were to deliver your baby now, it would probably be called a pre-term infant instead of premature. The only difference is in the maturity, particularly lung maturity. A pre-term baby is less likely to need intensive care because its lungs have developed. Doctors can test lung maturity with an amniocentesis that checks levels of surfactant.
The baby now rests on your uterus and is no longer floating.
Fingernails now reach over the finger tips and the baby can scratch itself.

kytti: Mine was 145, and my doctor says normal range for a baby is 120-160, depending on their activity level, like garkin said.garkin -

kytti> Mine was 136 this week. I was also a NICU nurse for a long time and it all depends on your baby's activity level. By the time they are newborn, some kids will even dip down to about 100 when sleeping.kytti -

Anyone who has had a doctor visit for week 34 remember what their baby's heart rate was at? The nurse said mine was in the 130's which usually hers is in the 140's, even low 150's so it concerned me but she claims 120's-130's is normal..... but I am still concerned.babymullin -

that's funny- i like boys clothes so much better than girly stuff. i'll have a hard time dress shopping if it's a girl. I love blue, brown, green- i don't like pink, purple, etc... so it should be interesting!

whatwillitbe- me too! my husband leaves at 6 and then i'm out like a light. I thought it had to do with the nice king sized bed to myself, but now I know it isn't that because i've been sleeping on the couch and still sleep best between 6 and 10:30(I've been sleeping in more and more each day it seems!). I have no idea why that is!!whatwillitbe -

my cousin is giving me her sling..it's a really nice one from target i think...her daughter is a little over a year old and they dont plan on having anymore..i've always been a little weary of them but its all one peice so it wont slip, and she says its completely safe so i'll try it.....i can never sleep at night..my boyfriend goes to work at 5:30 am and as soon as he leaves for work i'm dead asleep until 8 atleast lol!! then i pee and go back to sleep until 12 (if i have nothing to do that day) but for some reason i cannot sleep at night!! i guess by morning im so tired i just pass out! or maybe it because i have my whole king size bed to just me and my dog!!MyFirstTime -

That's awesome! I love pink, so if it's a girl she'll be wearing lots of it!! Maybe if it's a boy I'll get him a onesie made that says something like pink is the new black..hahahamaryw -
9.1 hours ago
Well, as a teacher, I've seen boys starting to wear pink more (even t-shirts that say Pink is the new black)- which is fine, when the kid is older, but not when the poor baby doesn't know the difference! However when we went to buy a swing last night I liked the starlight papasan swing which has some bluish/violet color on it and he said it was too girly. So it really is just pink he's ok with. it's funny.MyFirstTime -

Mary-I'm the same with putting a girl in blue...or camo...my husband's a hunter so we already have some! But I don't want to put a boy in pink...and neither does my hubby! hahahaha..Your husband sounds like a pretty easygoing guy!maryw -

I know- most people find out these days. i'm glad I decided to wait, but when trying to buy stuff, it gets tricky. I'm fine putting a girl in blue (not a blue nursery or anything.. but blue accessories), and my husband is fine with putting a boy in pink stuff (like the cherry blossom graco pattern- he really likes it), which i think is very funny and I won't cooperate with because usually you can't tell what babies are anyway and I don't want to have to correct people all the time! I don't know what I'm having, either...we must be the ONLY 2 people in the world who didn't find out!!! But I'm pretty sure this one's a girl. If it's a boy, he's gonna be stylish right along with mama! LOL...maryw -

Libby-I bought a Baby Buddha baby sling. It can be used from newborn up until they're toddlers...you just change the positioning of the sling. There's three parts to it but it's super easy to use. It was a bit pricy but I figured that I'll be using it lots for this baby and we're planning on another, so I'll get my money's worth for sure!maryw -

i hope it doesn't close over the baby's face. LOL I haven't used it yet...but in all the reviews I read, I didn't see anyone say that. plus, the baby is right there, so you'd know if it happened. I found mine at target for 44 dollars. Here's the link: http://www.target.com/Peanut-Shell-Boho-Chic-Sling/dp/B000ROJB5Y/sr=1-13/qid=1217001630/ref=sr_1_13/602-3912606-4603846?ie=UTF8&index=target&rh=k%3Apeanut%20shell%20baby%20carrier&page=1libbysmama -

Regarding sleeping, i've found over the last few weeks I've begun to only sleep for one hour to and hour and a half max, then I have to change positions, and usually am awake for a while. I forget what it's like to go to bed and wake up in the morning feeling like I slept!dcmom2b -

jess0905: I'm having the same problem with staying asleep at night. It sucks because I'm SO tired but then when I do sleep, it's not very restful at all. And I know it will only get worse once the baby comes, although at least we'll be more comfortable physically!maryw -

no- that's one of the reasons I went with this one- it's all one piece, it just slips on. No adjusting, no wrapping, etc. VERY simple!libbysmama -

libbysmama- I ordered a Peanut Shell Baby Sling (goo-ga.com is the website, but I ordered it from Target). I went with this style because it has no moving/adjustable parts and is easy to throw in the diaper bag. Plus I like the idea of using a sling in the house rather than putting baby down when I need to get things done (that is, if he/she likes it- it's always a gamble) When they are little, you wear it like a sling, and when they get bigger, you can carry them on the side, using it to support them- so it should be useful for a while. I did a lot of research first, and it really comes down to preference, both mom's and baby's. But baby-wearing is great for bonding. :)libbysmama -

Is anyone going to use (or have used) a baby sling? Did you like it? How long are they used, and are they mainly just for nursing moms? What is a good website for them?Mattie4483 -

same here- pain in my lower back, and the feeling like my pelvic bone is being seperated at the front. Very painful, also vulvular vercosities. Anybody else suffering from those? It is so painful at night that to even switch from side to side is a challenge. My husband has to help me up in the morning anymore. mommmie -
