Dates and numbers:
There are 43 days until your due date on September 06, 2008.
You are 237 days pregnant.
You are 7.8 months pregnant.
You are in your 8th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: December 01, 2007 to February 29, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: March 01, 2008 to June 13, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: June 14, 2008 to September 06, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)
Your baby weighs about 4.4 pounds at this point. The crown-to-rump length of your baby is approximately 12 inches and the total length is around 19.4 inches. Measuring from the top of your uterus to your bellybutton is 5.2 inches. Total weight gain at this point of pregnancy is usually 22 to 28 pounds.

With the exception of crying, your baby is capable of doing everything that a newborn baby will do. Your baby is restricted now inside of the uterus, but still can kick and move. Your baby sleeps a lot of the time, just as newborn babies do. Your baby's eyes move in the manner of REM sleep and researchers believe that babies can dream vividly in uterus. When your baby is awake, she is listening, feeling and learning. There are billions of neurons in the brain that make trillions of connections. Your baby will probably have settled into the birth position by now and your caregiver can most likely tell which way your baby is presenting. If your baby were to be born now, the lungs would probably be strong enough to function properly, but your baby may still need extra care from specially trained doctors and nurses.
During these last few weeks of pregnancy, most women experience an increased urge to urinate. The uterus puts a lot of pressure on the bladder and can send you to the restroom frequently. Your uterus has actually grown 500 times throughout your pregnancy! Red blood cell production catches up with the production of plasma and physiological anemia may begin to fade at this time.
Your baby's eyes open during alert times and close during sleep. The eye color is usually blue, regardless of the permanent color as pigmentation is not fully developed. The final formation of eye pigmentation requires exposure to light and usually happens a few weeks after birth.

My belly is feeling so big and heavy this week, and I've been very hungry, too! (By the way, is Crunch & Munch good for you? LOL) But when I eat, my belly feels even tighter, and it's hard to breathe! One of these days I'm going to be laying on my back and not be able to get up or roll over and I'll just be laying there like a turtle on it's back, flailing my arms and legs and yelling 'HELP!!!'kytti -

mumsie26- thanx, yeah i am woddling around a bit. Its funny as. Just a not with the blood loss. I'v had a son and with him. I didnt bleed a huge amount. it was just like a usual heavy period so the night pads/maternity pads where more then enough. It just lasted for like 3 weeks. but only was heavy for a week then regular for the rest. I also work with new babies and hear form their mums, and it seems its a bit different for all women. But usually is heavier then ur own normal period. So perhaps for those who usually have a heavy period then the extra precausion will def be good. Big Hugs to all! We've all made it this far Not too much longer to go. Mwah!!tami02 -

YAY! Week 33! Only 7 more to go!
This is our first baby and I'm wondering if anyone has experience introducing their baby to their Boxer babies and how they did it? I know that Boxers are one the best dogs that you can have around children, just curious as to how others have made the introduction ;)
One of our girls is 3 and I have the feeling that she's going to be protective of the baby, the other is 10 months, so I have the feeling that she's going to want to be very playful. Both of them I'm sure are going to want to give the baby lots of Boxer affection, like only Boxers can ;)

For those of you who are not aware but after you give birth you do bleed a lot and will need lots of pads(sanitary towels)when your in the hospital you should have large bed pads on the bed under you which protect the bed and soak it all up.(sorry tmi!!) if you are worried about protecting your beds at home you can get pampers bed mats these are good if homebirthing too..
also make sure you get breastpads even if not breastfeeding you will leak until your milk dries up..
get vaseline for baby as when the baby is newborn his poo (black stuff)sticks to his very delicate skin and is hard to remove, so if after changing the baby you put vaseline around the area it does make a difference.

yessss week 33... sorry some of you are having a hard time :( I am still off work cos of dizzzy and fainting spells but my iron count came back perfect so doc has suggested I wear support tights for a while! I think I am still losing some of my plug, you know its not runny or clear but thick and opaque mucous? Just a sign its getting closer the time I suppose... And the backache has started as have the abdominal cramps... I started crying this morning cos I was thinking of seeing my new baby while i was driving, I think anyone that saw me probably thought I was one of those mad emotional pregnant people :)

tami02> I had a bug a few weeks ago that was same, it was like I had turned into a human urn (hot water from behind). It did last a week, I could barely eat during that time. I def agree with mumsie26 - keeping hydrated is the key, when I finally visited the doctor after 5 days of it, thats what they told me. I was gulping down water every half hour, but doc said its best to just sip it constantly, that way it has more chance to be absorbed into your system / rather than immediately flushed out. Re the swollen fingers and ankles, I'd call your doc just to be safe, as I think this can be a sign of pre-eclampsia - better safe than sorry. Hope you are feeling better soon.mumsie26 -

one thing that does help is keeping hydrated , as you cna get dehydrated easily and the waters are replaced every hour i think now? anwyay lots of water, juice helps..tami02 -

I have gained 9 lbs total yay, and he said that was fine too...i am so shocked, i gained 50 with my first 3 yrs ago! Umm...go back in 3 weeks for the group b strep test and then its just a matter of waiting after that lol. Hope everyone has a great night!!!kytti -

Anyone else feeling super scared about labor? For me it's just 'when and how is it going to happen?' Will I need to be induced? Will my water break in public? Will I need an emergency c-section??? I heard a lot of 3D u/s pictures can come out more blurry after week 32 because your amniotic fluid gets lower. I drank 90+ ounces of water every day the month up until my 3D to make sure I had tons of extra fluid to get the pictures I did for mine.... that is what the lady told me to do, otherwise they can come out blurry.lindseyloo -

Contractions
Is it Braxton Hicks or True Labor?
http://baby2see.com/contractions.htmlmumsie26 -
22.8 hours ago
THIS IS LONG BUT THINK IT WILL HELP SOME OF YOU..
Pre-Labor: Signs that Labor is About to Begin
Possible Signs Labor May Begin Soon.
· Backache: Not the type of backache you have in late pregnancy that changes when you shift position, but a persistent dull ache that makes you restless and irritable.
· Cramps. Abdominal cramping that is mild to moderate in discomfort.
· PMS symptoms: crabby, irritable.
· Nesting Urge.
· Frequent, soft bowel movements. Flu-like symptoms.
If you experience these symptoms, it is important to remember that they are not necessarily signs that labor is imminent. They may persist for days or weeks before labor begins. The presence of these symptoms is a good reminder to make sure you have everything prepared for labor and birth, and to make sure you are aware of what other signs to be watching for.
However, try not to get too excited about things, or start making too many plans assuming the baby is on its way. Continue your normal routines, get lots of rest, eat and drink well, nurture yourself in these precious days before the baby arrives.
Preliminary Signs
· Bloody show. During pregnancy, cervix contains mucus, which may be released in late pregnancy. May be a thick ‘plug’ of pinkish mucus, which might come out when you use the toilet. May be thin, mucousy discharge on toilet paper. If there is more blood than mucus, call caregiver. (Note, it’s common to have a brownish, bloody discharge within 24 hours of a vaginal exam, or intercourse. Don’t mistake this for bloody show.)
· Water breaks:
o Trickle or a gush. If it’s just a little mucousy fluid, it may be mucous plug.
o Pay attention to what time it breaks, note down its color, odor, etc.
o Call your caregiver. Usually (80% of the time), you will go into labor on your own in the next 24 hours. Ask your caregiver what will happen if you are not in labor after 24 hours.
· Contractions. What’s the difference between non-progressing Braxton-Hicks contractions (“false labor” / pre-labor) and the progressive contractions of active labor?
o Pre-labor contractions generally don’t progress: they may be irregular, or may stay same length, strength, and frequency. May last for a short time, or for several hours. Discomfort is felt in the front of the abdomen, as muscles tighten up. Contractions may stop if you walk, change position or change activity, eat, drink, or empty bladder.
o Some women never have Braxton-Hicks, some may have for weeks before the labor. Some may even have several episodes where contractions seem to be developing a pattern: with contractions every 6-7 minutes for 2-3 hours, which then stop again.
o ‘False Labor’ doesn’t mean they don’t hurt, and it also doesn’t mean that they’re not doing anything. Although the contractions might not be dilating your cervix yet, they are helping you to progress in other ways: moving the cervix to an anterior position, ripening and effacing the cervix.
Positive Signs of Labor
· Gush of amniotic fluid from vagina.
· Progressing contractions: Get longer, stronger, and/or closer together with time. Are usually described as ‘very strong’ or ‘painful’, felt in the abdomen, back, or both. May start in the back, and radiate around to front. Usually increase if you walk.
· Dilation of cervix seen in vaginal exam.mumsie26 -

Ok quick question. I just got out of the shower and noticed my boobs leaking a bit. My thing is, my left breast had white liquid and my right had clear(colostrum). I have had one child, and don't remember colostrum being white...could it be milk already? Also, with my first, my breasts hurt really bad when my milk came in so i am just wondering if any of you have experienced white liquidy colostrum instead of just clear? Any comments will be greatly appriciated, thanks in advance! Have a great day!cmmbear -

I'm sure I'm not the only one that is having the awful pain in my hips, have any of you been told what to do to help stop it? It gets so bad sometimes at night that it wakes me up. Our teacher for our childbirth class advised trying to sleep in a recliner or on the couch but I've tried that and it still bothers me. Also there was one lady that posted something about her Dr telling her that when you start having that pain it can mean that you're thinning and dialating...or something like that. Any suggestions for ways to ease it though? I'm going to ask my Dr. about it Monday and see what he says and then probably talk to our teacher some more about it also. halambert -

They just increased my brethine again... Yuck! They really want me to hold this baby in there for another couple of weeks. I am also having loose stool and vomiting, and no fever. I looked it up on here and there is a thing called pre labor flu like symptoms. It can last for days, or weeks before you go into labor. It could also be a bug! They make things so confusing don't they. I have never had this with any of my other pregnancies. The baby is bearing down very hard, which the mid wife noted yesterday. I woke up this morning and she is even lower, and I am having horrible pelvic pain... Good luck ladies! mumsie26 -
