Dates and numbers:
There are 108 days until your due date on September 08, 2008.
You are 172 days pregnant.
You are 5.6 months pregnant.
You are in your 6th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: December 03, 2007 to March 02, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: March 03, 2008 to June 15, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: June 16, 2008 to September 08, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)
This week your baby's crown-to-rump length is around 8.4 inches and your baby will weigh approximately 1.2 pounds. Although it weighs a little over a pound at this point, your growing baby is still tiny. Your uterus can easily be felt 1.5 to 2 inches above your bellybutton. The fetus does not appear to have much room in the uterus anymore, but as your pregnancy progresses, space gets much tighter!
Because your uterus is expanding and putting a great amount of pressure on your abdomen, you might get stretch marks. Your weight gain may also be taking a toll on your body at this point. Many pregnant women experience backaches, bladder problems, sore feet and fatigue that affect their daily routines. You might also have some nasal stuffiness or nosebleeds.
Your baby's face is basically complete now. The fetus's eyes are close together on the front of his face and they are still shut. Your baby's ears have moved into their final position on the sides of his head. Where they are now is where they will be when your baby is born! Hair will continue to grow on his scalp and his eyelashes are well developed. Most of your baby's features look the same as they will at birth. Because your growing baby is getting plumper, he no longer has room in your tummy to do cartwheels and somersaults.
Now is a good time to ask about prenatal classes being offered in your area. Many local hospitals offer classes for expectant women and their families. You should aim to complete the classes approximately one month before your due date.
You may sometimes get a stitch-like pain in your side from time to time. It's simply the muscles of the uterus stretching.
the unborn child is covered with a fine, downy hair called lanugo. Its tender skin is protected by a waxy substance called vernix. Some of this substance may still be on the child's skin at birth at which time it will be quickly absorbed.
The child practices breathing by inhaling (up to a liter/day) amniotic fluid into developing lungs.

I hate when people tell you how terrifying labour is, I was so scared when I had my first... Because someone always seems to tell you a horrific story that they or someone they know had happen to them. I freaked out, and had time to freak too because she was over due, and I had to be enduced, which women started telling me was the worst thing ever..lol. I have had such easy deliveries with all of my children thus far. My smallest baby was 8lbs 14oz... I did not even scream during labour with any of my children. I know every women is different, but there is no need to freak your self out! redheadmom -

Being induced is not the best idea unless your baby is not growing properly in the womb and needs to come out for more direct care. Babies should be allowed to come when they're good and ready, and not before as long as everything is going well. I had my daughter 3 days late, and because she was inside longer she's been really advanced for her age because of the extra time she spent in there. I'm not trying to tell anyone what to do, or seem like a know-it-all, but doctors won't tell you this. The best thing for our babies is to let things happen naturally unless there is a medical reason not to.Monica1st -

Since I uncounted some assholes this week, here is my new to 14 list: Things you never say to a pregnant woman
1. Twins? 2. Any day now ? (when you are 6 months pregnant) 3. Are you really going to eat this? 4.I only gained 2 pounds during my pregnancy and lost 60 pounds 2 weeks after 5. I never needed any maternity clothes 6. Your life is over, huh? 7. Hope you don't like to sleep too much 8. I felt like I was dying during labor 9. My epidural didn't take 10. Are you going to breastfeed? 11. If I were you, I would...12. I could never imagine leaving my baby with a nanny. 13. We can still call you about work stuff while you are on maternity, right? 14 And finally from a male co-worker...'Is it true you get hornier when you are pregnant?'Cher1108 -

Please go to my page and vote on a date for my baby shower. :)I`m due November 2nd. Should I have my baby shower August 17 or October 5? August is the month of my fiance`s birthday, October is mine. If I have it in October I will be 9 months pregnant. If I have it in August I will be 7 months pregnant. Consider the body and weight changes between being 7 months and 9 months pregnant. Thanks for your help.

Can you provide me with your opinion? we live in the USA and my husband loves the name Elliot Jaxon (as far as the spelling goes- we have not gotten that far so I do not need help on spellings). When I first heard the name Elliot.. I was like 'NO WAY!' It reminded me of ET (the movie). What do you ladies think? We do not want a common name on the top 100 but we do not want a name that would make him stand out and get made fun of. My husband is sold on it... I am not, however, it is growing on me. As far as nicknames, we could call him Eli (pronounced like E-lie), EJ, or Jax. Which nickname do you like best? Do you have suggestions on names that are not common (but not made up)? Can you send me a message on my page? THANK YOU!!!! =)stephaniem -

ashley211 - what is a tongue ring ball? I am intrigued :) Also I've never been told the weight of my baby (not even height) - then again, I never asked. Does not seem to be a common thing they tell you in Australia either (or maybe just the people I am seeing) I think my doc subscribes to the theory that the less they tell you, the less you will worry.? Also I have found that after drinking a large glass of freezing cold OJ, my boy responds within 30 seconds (esp if the OJ is not fresh squeezed... I suppose the bottled stuff has more sugar and stuff in it). ashley211 -

I always ask the estimated weight of the baby. And they always tell me. But it might be different in the UK, and sometimes the ultra sound techs are not as pleasant as others. If you get another scan ask if they can give you the weight. If not at least you asked...lol.
If you are worried about feeling the baby move drink a big jug of water, and lay on your left side, or flat on your back, you will more then likely feel the baby at least once. Like the page above states it is starting to get pretty tight in there for the baby, so the movements will become less frequent... Good Luck ladies!Mama2Miaplus1 -

Hi hopeful I am from 25 weeks and live in England UK and I asked the weight at my 20 week scan and they said they don't tell you so it must be a UK thing. Good luck with your pregnancy.hopeful2008 -

Hi guys, quick question, im just wondering how you all seem to know how heavy you babies are! How do you know? Im assuming its from yr scans, but when i went for mine they just measured length and stuff and didnt tell us how much the baby weighed. Do you think its different in the UK and thats maybe why i have nt been told?
Would be interensted to find out.
Anyway, hope you are all happy and well xxxlauralou2111 -

I got to have another ultra sound done because my little peanut is being stubborn, she has decided she wants to be head down already...lol. So they are having a hard time getting all parts they like to see. Hopefully this time they got what they needed. She weighs 1lbs 7oz. Her movements are becoming less frequent, but are much stronger. kytti -

I think sometimes us ladies worry a little too much about everything. I think we should all just take a relaxing day at a spa or something. Hehe, I am guilty also. But every day I read about ladies who are worried about their baby kicking less, their lack of weight gain, and so many other things... but I think sometimes what we fail to remember is everyone's pregnancy is different so you really cannot compare. Someone's baby might move all day long while another might have a lazy baby! Hehe, as long as you are keeping up with your regular doctor appointments, the heart beat is nice and strong, the doctor will surely alert you if there is anything to worry about! We'll have plenty of time to worry once they get here... for instance, the first night they sleep all the way through you know we will be up 20 times checking on them! Not to mention all the times they get sick. So, let's all relax a little and enjoy the miracle that is too be! Plenty of time for worrying later. :D Don't worry, I am taking my own advice on this one as well, lol.leeleesmom -

Hey girls, Is anyone worried about deformaties and things like that? When I had my daughter I always worried if she would come out and have something wrong with her (not that I would love her any less) and thank the lord she was perfect, but I seem to be going through this again... Does anyone else worry all the time? I had a co-worker show me photos of cleft lip and now I can not stop thinking about other things that can possibly go wrong. Am I the only one? kammysmom -

Mummatobe Just wanted to say you are so not alone I am there with you it was like when she figured out she could kick, she went to kicking all the time like crazy. I loved that I really enjoyed it, kinda made me giggle at her. Now tho it has slowed down alot, really makes me worry cause I think of all the possible things that could be wrong. I wish she would just give me a kick regularly to let me know she is ok!!! samanthajo -

Can anyone recommend a good brand of bras that I can try out? I swear the only ones that are in the least bit tolerable for me right now are sports bras and those don't really work under the clothes I wear to work -- the shoulder straps are too thick and stick out of the neckline.mummatobe -

hi, im from week 23 and I have a question:does anyone have a horrible burning pain underneath there left breast? It hurts when im sitting mostly, I cant even touch it,it wakes me up at night it burns so bad. I heard that anytime you get a tingling, numbness, burning, etc sensation its cause the baby's sitting on a nerve, just wondering if there's anything anyone heard about that or knows what i can do to relive the pain. It honestly feels like my skin is on fire and I think its to early for it to be a foot or hand. Thanks ladies.

Hi Ladies, I am from week 17. I got some disturbing news yesterday and wanted to see if any of you had insight. Right now our baby has Choroid Plexus Cyst (CPC) and Fetal Renal Pelvis Dilatation. We had a sequential screen done in the first tri and our risk for chromosome was very low. Both of these things are soft markers for chromosome defects. We are going to have a level II ultrasound to check further. Please let me know if you know anything on either of these conditions.
