Dates and numbers:
There are 51 days until your due date on September 16, 2008.
You are 229 days pregnant.
You are 7.5 months pregnant.
You are in your 8th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: December 11, 2007 to March 10, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: March 11, 2008 to June 23, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: June 24, 2008 to September 16, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)
By week 32, your baby weighs nearly 4 pounds! The crown-to-rump length of your baby is approximately 11.7 inches and the total length is about 18.9 inches. Your uterus is now 5 inches above your bellybutton. Some doctors do not see their patients every other week until now. So, if you were going to the doctor monthly, you may begin going once every other week now.
Sleeping boy. the baby sleeps 90-95% of the day, and sometimes experiences REM sleep, an indication of dreaming.
Now that your baby has grown so long and your uterus is higher, you might notice a new discomfort. Your baby is probably head-down and may occasionally stretch out and kick you in the ribs. The pressure on your rib cage can make you sore, especially if one of the feet becomes caught in the ribs. You can prevent this by sitting up straight as much as possible. Because the baby demands a higher amount of vitamins and minerals more than ever right now, you should continue to take your prenatal vitamins for the entire pregnancy.
This week you will notice that fetal movements are at the peak. You should continue to monitor the fetal movements daily and address any concerns with your caregiver. The wrinkles in the babys face are disappearing and fat is still being deposited throughout the body.
The body growth slows down from now on.
Because of the lack of space in the uterus, the legs are drawn up in what is known as the fetal position.
As a preparation for
breastfeeding, your baby has learned to root for the breast. The baby will turn its head if touched on the cheek and open its mouth if the bottom lip is tickled. By this time the baby can also suck and swallow in a coordinated way.

I have gained 22 lbs so far and my doctor has not said a word about restricting or adding calories. He just keeps saying perfect. I have not had one thing go wrong with this pregnancy so far and didn't with my other two. No HBP, no GD, no preclampsia, no nausea. I have been truely blessed with very easy uncomplicated pregnancies. I couldn't wish for better. God has truely blessed me and I am very grateful. The only thing I have had is pelvic bone pain for thre weeks, but for some reason this week it has finally subsided. I am scheduled for my c-section in 6 weeks on Sept.4th @ 6:30 Pm. I can't wait to see my little man Liam. Only 5 more weeks of work. Woo Hoo!mommiiDee091408 -

Wow it's been awhile since i've been on this site, here's the latest..All is well so far, this pregnancy in the last stages has been forgiving. I'm sort of getting used to this belly now, the weight however has been a challenge. I've gained 27lbs so far but it feels like so much more. Walking long distances has become a challenge but I have not givin up my power walks. Found my first stretch mark on my stomach, my boobs point in a different direction, and i've recently noticed puffiness in my feet and hands. I wake up with achey hips and hands and feel more bloated than ever. Yep all normal pregnancy stuff, I almost forget what life was like pre pregnancy. I'll miss my perky breasts but going through all this is all so worth it knowing I get to meet my only blood relative in 8 weeks. I'm excited about my baby shower this weekend, mostly i'm looking forward to hanging with my friends and eating cake. It's nice to be back and getting to share all the pregnancy goodies. I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend! ParkersMommy -

Well I rang in the start of my 32 weeks with a hospital stay. I started having Braxton Hicks contractions roughly around 230am on tuesday and then by 3am I was having contractions exactly every 2 minutes and they lasted about 50 sec! We called the hospital and they said to come in. I was given medicine by Iv and also pills to take every 4 hours around the clock. My Dr told me I had a slightly short cervix and I was 50% effaced. I had contractions off and on until about 6pm. So far the pills are working just fine. Now I get to be bored out of my mind the rest of the pregnancy on bedrest. :( but its worth it to have a healthy baby! So... ladies.. even if your contractions dont hurt but are having more than 4 an hour.. CALL THE HOSPITAL! Dont be afraid! mommabrandy -

Evangeline~at my doc office they check my urine every visit and it is to check for protein which indicated pre-eclampsiaand also they do check for UTI. I am not sure if they test it for anything else. I had complained to my doc about me feeling pressure when I use the rest room as well and they didnt seem to be too concerned with it all they asked if I have seen any blood. libbysmama -

They look for protein in the urine which indicates GD. Not sure if they automatically test for UTI.evangeline -

Does anyone know what they test the urine for at the routine doctor visits? Do they test for UTI bacteria etc? I just went last night and everything was fine I guess, they did not mention anything and today I feel so much pressure when I pee not pain or any other symptom just pressure. Not sure if this is a UTI or just the baby adding pressure.I am 32 weeks and the doctor told me last night I was measuring 36 weeks not sure if the extra weight is adding to it. Thanks in advance

I had my growth scan today. Baby weighs about 5lbs and length wise measured about 34 1/2 weeks ahead. The tech kept shaking her head and saying, 'let's not even talk about it' meaning, how are you planning on pushing this out of your vag! Yikes! Baby had his hands over his face for the whole scan so we didn’t get the 4D picture I would have liked but I guess some things can be left as a surprise:) MKsAngel -

I had a sling carrier and it worked great as as soon as I would put my daughter in it and started walking she would go right to sleep. The only thing was it was hard to adjust just right and it really hurt whatever shoulder you had it over after about 10 minutes. MKsAngel -

libbysmama ~ I can.. but shipping's going to be an additional $15-$20. If I think about it, in our currency, that's more than Php3,000 in total. Hubby just might freak out LOL. Good thing I have a couple of relatives and some of my mom's friends there who are coming home this August. *winks3rdtymeround -

libbysmama-I did mine announcements from home. I uploaded my digital pics to my computer and then uploaded them to Sams Club photo Dept. They have tons of birth announcements to choose from and they were ready in an hour. Also They are cheep. I paid $10.00 for 30 or $15.00 for 50 and that includes the envelopes. I do this for Christmas every year too. libbysmama -

Mks-I decided on the 'Peanut Shell' sling at Toys R Us in 'Retro Blue' for $65. It is totally cute. I'm still looking into the birth announcements. The kind I am looking at making are a glossy, flat card style with pictures, like people send out at christmas. They are about the size of a long envelope. I'll let you know what I find out!;.)MKsAngel -

cashmere87-my baby is moving more now that ever, too. It's almost constantly. I didn't notice it as much with my 1st at this time b/c I carried SO LOW with him. This one is much higher and all up in my ribs. The doc also said this was a big baby. He was measuring almost 2 weeks ahead at my 20 week u/s, so that might be another reason I feel everything. I also haven't gained nearly the weight with this one as my first. I wouldn't worry. They're all different!!!3rdtymeround -

cashmere87-Mine is opposite. This little guy moves almost constantly throughout the day and they are big mves, like you can see parts moving acros my belly from one side to the other or up and down. Sometimes he moves so hard and streches my skin so much it makes me jump. He sometimes takes a nap break in the earlly after noon and evening, but other then that he is going and going and going. I don't get woken up by him though. I am a very deep sleeper and if he does move I would never know it. mommy1baby -

SUGARBEAR8907-You can pump and store in the storage bottles or bpa safe bags that can be poured into bottles, so you will need to get a pump, you can get a non exspensive one -a manule one- and just do it yourself and give them to his daddy when you knwo he will be sleeping over his home.mommy1baby -

sugarbear- I am not nursing this time. 3rdtyme is right, there is SO MUCH pressure to breastfeed! A lot of women who nurse tend to look down their noses at women who don't, as if they are abusing their children by denying them 'the best'. I nursed my first 4 and am NOT a good producer, so my kids didn't grow well! Once I switched to formula they got nice and chubby. Do whatever works for you...it's YOUR baby! cashmere87 -

Sugarbear-I tried to breasfeed with my first child. The only reason was peer pressure. I had absolutely no desire to be a breast feeder, but that is all your are pumped with, especially with your first. My son would not latch and I never knew if he was getting anything. My first night home from the hosptial I switched to bottles and I enjoyed my child so much more because I wasn't stressed about anything and I could see exactly how much he was getting each time. With my 2nd child I never even tried. % minutes after she was born the nurse gave me a bottle and I sat and relaxed and fed her calmly and comfortably. I will bottle feed again with this one. My kids were rarely sick even in daycare. Also I used the expensive Enfamil formula with my first, but with my 2nd and I will with this one I used Walkmart and Sams Club brand. Walmart has all the 'special type' formulas in thier brand just like Enfamil or Simalac and it is only $1200 per large can vs. $25.00 for a samll can. My pediatrician says they are exactly the same. If you look at the back it compares them and the store brand actually has more of some of the nutrients.
Good luck with your decision. You need to do what makes YOU and the baby happy, not anyone else. b4bybl00m -

mommabrandy - I have also tried to cut down on my calories although I don't have GD. I've been eating 1800 calories a day and was worried this may be bad for the baby, but if you're doing and the doc is cool then I guess it's ok!!proudpreggers -

sugarbear, i decided not to breast feed a long time ago. i know the benifits, but i was never comfortable with it and kept trying to convince myself to do it for 2 months. finally my mom (who was a pediactric nurse) said stop killing yourself, dont do it if you dont want to. My 2 brothers and I were all formula fed, so i know its fine. anyway, everyone has been supportive of my decision, my doctors included. the first couple months with your newborn will be hard enough already, do whatever is best for you.mommabrandy -

darcy-I am usually starving from my GD diet after breakfast. The doc put me on an 1800 calorie diet and I told him that I am still hungry and they pretty much tell me to add some meat to my breakfast and to add a salad to go along with whatever i eat at lunch. The diet is pretty hard but I have lost 5 lbs in 2 weeks. So I guess I'm doing ok.b4bybl00m -

sugarbear8907-I know what you mean. I was the same way with my first. I wanted to, but then I really didn't b/c I knew I was going to have to go back to work and wasn't sure if I could or wanted to be pumping all the time. I finally decided I would try to BF for six weeks. My son was born jaundice and the doctor said he basically needed to be 'flushed out' and the way they did that was by putting him on the feeding schedule from hell!! He was eating every 2 hours for 45-55 minutes. He had (and still does) have a very hearty appetite! Anyway, all those feedings left my nipples SO FREAKING SORE. I have never been in so much pain before in my life! I would sit on the couch and watch the clock and cry knowing that another feeding was coming up. I decided after a week--yes, a week- that I really just wanted to enjoy my baby instead of breaking down everytime my husband brought him to me to eat. So we switched over to formula. My husband was so supportive..he was about the only one. No one else could understand why I couldn't feed my baby, which made it SO much harder. I think the guilt was worse than the pain!! I know breastmilk is best, but I have a perfectly healthy prior formula-fed 20 month old. I'm planning to try to BF again, but I'm not going to feel bad if it just doesn't work out. I'm shooting for another week (at least he'll get the colostrum), after that we'll just take it a day at a time!!MommySingstress -
