Dates and numbers:
There are 0 days until your due date on October 11, 2008.
You are 280 days pregnant.
You are 9.2 months pregnant.
You are in your 10th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: January 06, 2008 to April 05, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: April 06, 2008 to July 19, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: July 20, 2008 to October 12, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)

You are definitely considered full-term now and you are probably anticipating the arrival of your newborn. The crown-to-rump length of your baby is around 15 inches and your baby is now about 21.5 inches long total. Your baby weighs about 7.5 pounds and your uterus is about 8 inches above the top of your bellybutton.
Your official due date will be sometime this week and you probably have a prenatal check up this week to check for labor progress. Try to stay calm while you are waiting for labor to begin. You should have all of your bags packed and ready to go and your birth plan should be in place. Your labor coach should know what your wishes are and you should be able to get in touch with your labor coach at all times. Use false labor contractions to practice breathing and relaxation techniques that you will use during the actual labor itself.
Your baby continues to move further down the birth canal and this is measured in stations. Station describes the degree to which the presenting part of the baby has descended into the birth canal. The 0 point is a bone landmark in the pelvis, the starting point of the birth canal. If your baby's head is at a -2 station, it means the head is higher inside of you than if your baby were at a +2 station.
After your baby is born, she will be weighed and measured. Your baby may cry loudly or she may be dazed from medications. The doctor will suction your baby's mouth and throat with an aspirator. The nurses will dry her off and place a hat on her head to help keep her warm. Security tags will be placed around her arms and ankles and your baby will be swaddled in a blanket. You will be given the chance to hold your baby right after you have delivered. Shortly after, the nurses generally take the baby to the nursery for a bath and other routine procedures. Your baby will be given Apgar scores according to her condition at 1 and 5 minutes of birth. A total of 10 points can be scored. A score of 10 is unusual and most babies receive scores of 7, 8 or 9. A baby with a low 1-minute score might need to be resuscitated and usually the 5 minute score is much higher after he has time to adjust to life outside of the uterus.
APGAR SCORE:
*Heart rate of baby-If your baby does not have a heart rate a score of 0 is given. If the baby's heart rate is less than 100 bpm, a score of 1 is given. If the heart rate is over 100 bpm, a score of 2 is given.
*Respiratory effort of the baby- If your baby is not breathing, a score of 0 is given. If breathing is slow and irregular, a score of 1 is recorded. If your baby is crying and breathing well, a score of 2 is recorded.
*Baby's muscle tone-If your baby's arms and legs are limp and flabby, the score is 0. If some movement is observed and the arms and legs bend a little, a score of 1 is recorded. A score of 2 is given to babies that are active and moving.
*Reflex irritability of the baby-If your baby does not respond to stimulus, a score of 0 is given. If there is a small reflex when the baby is stimulated, a score of 1 is recorded. If your baby responds vigorously when stimulated, 2 points are given.
*Baby's color- If your baby is blue or pale, a score of 0 is given. A score of 1 is given if your baby's body is pink and the arms and legs are blue. If your baby's entire body is pink, a score of 2 is recorded.
At the time of birth, the baby has a total of 300 bones. Some bones will fuse together later, which is why an adult has only 206 bones.
Almost there! Did you know that we also have a month by month calendar for babies? You can find it in the menu under `Babies`:

Had my embarrassing walk moment for the day! Took the dog out and Im just walking, minding my own business...... Well some DUMB guys were driving behind me and honked (scared the crap out of me) and pulled up next to me. I wish I could have taken a picture of their faces when they pulled up next to me and saw my belly. It was like 'oh sh**' and they sped off. LOL Kinda funny but kinda NOT! I called my mom all upset and she laughed and said 'I guess you weren't waddling'. hahaha OH BOY come on baby Im ready for you to be on the outside!ArmyWife-n-TX -

HELP! It is 2am here in the UK and I have been having contractions for about an hour that are so painful it is hard to breathe properly. They last about 45 seconds and come about every 4 minutes. This is my 3rd baby and I should know what to do, but I don't know whether to wake up my DH. We would have to get his parents to come and sit with the children and I don't want to wake up the world unless I need to. How long do I wait?hotpotaaaaato -

okay, so I'm looking through the internet to find any new natural labor induction techniques that I haven't heard of, and I came across the 'curb walking.' It says to walk with one foot up on the curb and the other down in the gutter... when you get to the end of the street turn around and switch feet. I think I will be trying this tonight! hehe, worth a shot!amandaellaangel -

Hi ladies. Just a question for any ladies who have given birth, or given birth previously. Has anyone had any pre-labour signs? If so what were they and how long do they normally last before 'real' labour starts. Thanks :)sheanicole -

Hey there Mommies and soon to be mommies.. I just found this really neat product at babies r us, and thought I would share. Sounds to work well! If you go to the babies r us website and type in Germ Guardian it should bring up a little plug-in air purifier. It's got great ratings so far, and seems to be a really neat and safe purifier. Just thought I would pass the info along! Hope everyone is well and progressing!annie and wayne -

Hey ladies! Keegan Michael was born Oct 8th at 6:27 pm. He was 6 lbs 11 oz and 18 1/2 inches long. Labor was frustrating and a bit disappointing due to the fact that I wanted to go natural, decided to get a spinal anyway, and the medication failed. I was so upset! Story and pics coming soon!herewego -

Ok, so I'm leaving a message from my hospital bed. We came in at 7am this morning to be induced. My cervix isn't dilated though so they're giving me medicine every 4 hours until it dilates, then they'll start me on Pit to start contractions. Unfortunately they say the medicine could take 10 hours to 3 days to work to dilate my cervix. Blah, 3 days! The doctor felt my stomach and said she thinks the baby may be around 8lbs... that's a lot of baby to push out! We could use some prayers that the baby will be born today or tonight and not in 3 days. I'll post more later!hotpotaaaaato -

really? I've heard that amniotic fluid was supposed to smell sweet, and urine is the amonia/bleach smell? hmmmmmmmmmmm now I'm confused.sarandoc -
8.8 hours ago
TMAC: can you smell the discharge? If it has a bleach like smell than it's your water breaking. You should go get checked out, but my best friend had this happen for 2 weeks before they finally induced her. Good luck!ashleymarie0385 -

Hi ladies! Question: 39 wks +3...I had a doc's appt, and Im still not dilated. The baby is healthy and doing fine; however, Dr. says his placement is 'higher than expected.' Also said that he's concerned that because he's so high, he may not come down to my pelvis (or something to that extent...cant really recall because I was dreading what he was about to say) and started mentioning the possibility of a C-section--something I absolutely do not want. I started tearing up alittle and trying to play it off by asking other questions about dilation. I asked him what if there was no dilation on my due date, and he mentioned the possibility of inserting some medicine onto my cervix in order to try to make me dilate and induce labor. Im due Wed, and my next appt is Tuesday. I am sad about even hearing him mention C-section to me, but still remaining prayerful that it will not be needed. I really really do not want one (unless absolutely necessary, of course). The baby is healthy and doing well, so that's the most important thing. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I'd grately appreciate it!

Ohhhh hotpotaaaaato, what timing. I'm sorry. Just REST as much as you can and do as little as possible!! Bless your heart!! armymom~ It seriously brought tears to my eyes to know your hubby will get to be home for the birth of your son. Praise God, that is awesome. I guess we can consider this my morning check-in; I'm still pregnant! I was hoping last night would be the night, but it wasn't, so about 3:00 a.m. I got up and ate like a whole king size package of Twizzlers. Now I feel sick, yay. I'm so stupid. marinomonster -

Thanks armymom, it makes me feel a little better knowing that it's normal. My doctor has been making me do pelvic tilts the past week to get the baby low and ready for delivery. They've worked for me, the baby is at 0 station!! I hope this helps.
