Dates and numbers:
There are 39 days until your due date on October 17, 2008.
You are 241 days pregnant.
You are 7.9 months pregnant.
You are in your 8th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: January 11, 2008 to April 10, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: April 11, 2008 to July 24, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: July 25, 2008 to October 17, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)
Your baby's crown-to-rump length this week is approximately 12.8 inches and the total length is around 19.8 inches at this time. Your baby now weighs almost 5 pounds. From your bellybutton, it is about 5.6 inches to the top of your uterus. Measurements of your uterus vary from woman to woman. You should not worry if you do not measure the exact same as your pregnancy friends or family members as long as you are growing appropriately. When your uterus grows and gets larger at an appropriate rate, it shows that your baby is growing well inside of your uterus.

Braxton-Hicks contractions are going to get stronger and more frequent within the next few weeks. Braxton-Hicks contractions feel like a tightening at the top of your uterus that spreads down and then relaxes. Many women mistake Braxton-Hicks contractions for true labor contractions, but this is rarely the case. Braxton-Hicks contractions will diminish if you get up and walk around and they should not be painful.
Your baby's hair continues to get longer and thicker. Your baby's hair color probably is not going to be the same color from birth onwards, so you should expect it to change in color. Your baby is shedding most of lanugo, but the amount of vernix caseosa is increasing. Your baby is taking calcium from you to lay down lots of bone. Continue to take your prenatal vitamins and drink milk to ensure that you receive enough calcium.
If you were to deliver your baby now, it would probably be called a pre-term infant instead of premature. The only difference is in the maturity, particularly lung maturity. A pre-term baby is less likely to need intensive care because its lungs have developed. Doctors can test lung maturity with an amniocentesis that checks levels of surfactant.
The baby now rests on your uterus and is no longer floating.
Fingernails now reach over the finger tips and the baby can scratch itself.

i had such an amazing babyshower yesterday and got soooo much stuff! now my big project this week is organizing everything, washing clothes, and packing hospital bags!
oo and a quick question...my feet have been extremely swollen, i mean literally HUGE and my sister in law is telling me i should call my dr because it could be 'toxicity' or something and thats dangerous. I think its just another part of being pregnant, what do you all think???kassyfk -

It sucks that I won't have my birthing class until Sept. 20 - I'm afraid I'll go into labour before then and won't know it!! The BH's have eased off quite a bit in the last hour or two, but I did have a *tiny* bit of spotting once when I went to the bathroom last night. I've been keeping an eye on it all morning, but haven't seen anything since that one time. My plan today is to go out and buy whatever else I need for my hospital bag so I can get it packed ASAP - just in case!!!JenWVU -

I was told in my birthing class yesterday when to ignore braxton hicks and when to be alarmed. If you are before 36 weeks and are having cramps/contractions associated with any kind of spotting, you should go to the ER/labor and delivery. If you are having cramps/contractions at any time and they go away when you lie down on the couch or bed, then they are most likely false labor pains. However, if you are having contractions that are 5 minutes apart from the start of one contraction to the start of the next contraction, and when you lay down they don't go away, you could be having 'real' contractions and should go the ER/labor delivery. I learned alot at the birthing class, and I am really not all that scared for the delivery. What scares me the most is the epidural, but I am definitely not tough enough to go without it!!!tamara4843 -

Does there come a point after you've had so many Braxton Hicks you should go to the hospital? I've been having them pretty frequently since late yesterday afternoon (about 16 hours ago). They're like an all-over tightening of my belly with period-like cramps. I don't think they're real contractions because they're not spaced evenly apart, but is it normal to have so many BH's??uk baby -

for some reason pregnnacy causes ur nose to be stuffed up. i think it has something to do with the blood vessels constricting and not letting it flow easily? or something like that. i noticed that i constantly have a stuffed up nose and have a hard time breathing at night time. it will go away after we have the baby. oh yeah... does anyone else NOT have to pee all the time? with my other 3 kids it seemed i had to pee a lot more. this time i dont have to pee that much. i think i pee more at night time than i do i nthe day... i think its because this baby is higher., my other kids never were in my ribs like this one and never made it almost impossible to breathe the way this baby does,. its so funny how every pregnancy is different/Bangel -

I've woken myself up snoring the past few nights. I didn't snore before either, but pregnancy is giving me this awful stuffy/runny nose all the time that I think is to blame for the snoring.kiwichick -

According to my doctor, an elective induction can be done at 39 weeks. He said it is based on the doctor and the hospital where you deliver. Obviously it varies if it is a medically necessary induction.toria87 -

Sorry ladies i wasnt meaning to brag im just really ready to get this over with. And im not sure in which states you can be induced but i would ask anyways. I ended up with gestational diabetes and because of that you have the chance of having a big baby. Right now he is already 5 pds and some ounces and in 2 weeks he will be at the 7 pd mark so maybe that is why she is letting me get it over with. Also i have went into preterm labor 3 times already, he is really trying to make an apperance. I will ask her on friday at my next appt how early, i know you cant be induced before 36 weeks but after that im sure its your choice if you are having complications! Also i hate that you ladies are having to pay to see how beautifull your babies are, i think its a rip off that they can give you an ultrasound but wont take 2 seconds to flip to the next screen to give you a 3/4D...its all done on the same machine! Some docs make it so difficult!!!scarter -
13.4 hours ago
heavensent or to whoever knows the answer to my question is it a states thing where if our babie is developed enough that we can be induced. or heavensent, did you have complications that gave you the right to have babie earleyer?scarter -
13.5 hours ago
heavensent- haha way to rub in that you didnt have to pay. im from bc and i had to pay $103.00 to have a 3d ultrasound done. i think its one big freaking scam and i would love to slap whoever set it up. i think its sick that people are making money off of our need to know the sex of our babies.janette -

My doctor's office tries to get a 3d pic of the baby's face every time they do an ultrasound but at 30 weeks my little guys head was already down and very low so they werent able to get a good pic of his face. We just went again at 34 weeks and same thing his face is barried too low to get with the ultrasound so for those of you paying for them beware if your baby is head down and low you may not get good face shots.heavensent -

Well ladies i have some great news!!!! I will be going in to have my BABY BOY in 12 days!!!!! I went in Thursday for my Non Stress Test at 10 am and he was so stubborn i ended up going back at 330, eventually he passed with an ultrasound. I asked my doctor if there was any chance i could go a little early and he looks great, his lungs and everything have developed nicely and i will be choosing my induction date after next thursday which is my 36 week mark. Im just so glad to have a piece of mind and to know that i dont have to tough it out for 6 more weeks!!!! Also where do you ladies live that you have to pay for 4D scans, my doctor does them right at the office when she does my ultrasounds. Ive posted 2 of the latest pics, and he looks just like his daddy, but i didnt have to pay anything!melizondo -

Hey Gals, just thought I'd share some information with you. I went for a nonstress test the other day and the tech gave me a large glass of ice water to dringk stating if the baby has not moved in a while, chug some ice water and she will move because the stomach is right next to the placenta and it makes the baby cold and they do not like it. It worked!!! In less than one min from gulping some ice water she was a kicking and a moving. It was fun for my 7 year old daughter and husband to watch my belly move so much! You could even hear it on the monitor.Navy0Wife -

My baby is getting hiccups about 3 times a day. At first I thought they were cute but now they are getting kinda annoying. My Dr told me she gets the hiccups because she is swallowing the fluid. Sometimes she will sleep right through them but most of the time they make her mad and she moves a lot. Is anyone else experiencing hiccups?KarenVG -

i just had another ultrasound yesterday (i get one every time i go) and my doc told me that she thinks my little girl is about 5 pounds right now just by feeling her. so at a half-pound every week...that puts her at 7 1/2-8 pounds at birth :) i can do that! i am so happy that this baby isnt going to be ginormous! a normal, healthy sized baby is all i want. and she also said that she has a head-full of hair! you could actually see all the hair floating on the back of her head! it was so cool! my son was a baldy so this was a shock! i can't wait to see it. only one more day in week 34 for me so i will see you ladies in week 35! we are almost there! :)anxiousfirst -

Do any of you ladies know if the hospital will give your baby the formula that you request? I want my son to only be fed enfamil lipil which is what he will get at home. I don't want my baby to have one type of formula at the hospital and then switch when we get home. I know that with my second they only offered Similac.GabrielsMom7 -

Me and the hubby agree... Girls are easier to buy clothes, shoes etc. for and boys are easier to buy toys, cars, legos. Frustrating, I can't find any cute infant (soft shoes) or just infant shoes that I like anywhere. *sigh* anxiousfirst -

I have my hospital bag ready! Yay! Wish we didn't have to take diapers and things to our hospital they take up so much room especially when packing for a longer stay (c-section). Oh well figured so many of us are having wierd things going on and some already having their baby I better be ready just incase as I am not allowed to go into labour so I would be rushing out of here!!!!LOL
Just a note for those of you who may not know, but coz YOUR BODY LOSES ALOT OF WATER MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SOME LIP BALM AS OFTEN YOUR LIPS DRY OUT... BETTER TO HAVE IT THAN NOT!sproutmomma -
