Dates and numbers:
There are 153 days until your due date on October 18, 2008.
You are 127 days pregnant.
You are 4.2 months pregnant.
You are in your 5th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: January 12, 2008 to April 11, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: April 12, 2008 to July 25, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: July 26, 2008 to October 18, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)
Thumb-sucking at 18 weeks....
By week 18 of your pregnancy, your baby's crown-to-rump length is 5 to 5.5 inches long. Your baby continues to develop fat layers and weighs about 5.25 ounces. Your baby will continue to grow and develop, but the rapid growth will slow down for a little while. You will be able to feel your uterus just below your bellybutton. If you put your fingers sideways to measure, you can feel your uterus about two finger-widths below your bellybutton. At this point of your pregnancy, your uterus is approximately the size of a cantaloupe. Although weight gain varies from woman to woman, your total weight gain at this point should be 10 to 13 pounds.
At this time if you had an ultrasound, heart abnormalities can be detected. If the ultrasound technician detects abnormalities, further ultrasound exams may be ordered to follow the baby's development. There is still space available in your uterus and your baby will be active for periods at a time. Your baby may sit cross legged or turn somersaults.
Around this time, your baby becomes more sensitive to the outside world and shows her presence through powerful kicks and prods. The bones through which sound is passed to the inner ear have hardened and the parts of the brain that receives and processes nerve signals from the ears are developing. This means that your baby can hear now. Your baby will get used to familiar sounds, such as your heart beating, familiar voices, blood rushing through the umbilical cord and other daily routine sounds. Your baby will become startled if he hears a loud sound.
If you have a stethoscope at home, you can now hear the baby's heartbeat yourself.

Thanks Ladies and God Bless!tlcbaby3 -

Does anyone else feel huge! I was 109lbs before having kids i'm 5'3'. This is my third baby I started at 115 and am already 132. With my other pregnancies I hit 152. I have a subchorionic bleed so I am not able to exercise at all. I feel so much pent up stress, exercise was my out. I can't believe I am only half way. If I walk from one end of a mall to the other I get alot of pain and pressure down low. I feel so not myself. I don't want to sound like I'm complaining as I am thrilled to be prgnant, especially after a miscarriage late last year. I just felt so different with my two boys, I was much more energetic. I am just so uncomfortable already, maybe it's a girl!BlueGirl -

My baby was so active last night! Those flutters are getting a bit stronger. I used to confuse the baby with gas but now I can definently tell the difference. I still can't see anything from the outside though. It is so amazing!herewego -

Hi all - This is my last day in week 18. I have 2 questions: 1) I worked out this morning (after a few weeks off) and my uterus got very tight - almost like a sustained contraction. It simmered down into light cramps for a while afterwards...Has anyone else experienced this?? No bleeding or anything - is it safe??
2) I am making our summer plans and it looks like I will need to be on a plane for 3-4 trips (about once a month). Is flying so much o.k.? Is it safe?
Any advice would be great! Thanks!MrsKiwi -

befroe your ultrasound try and drink as much of the water at least half, an hour before and drink the rest on the way there, it does get really uncomfortable, you may want to put a pad in your undies just incase you leak on the way to the toilet after, it saves an embarressing moment. I told the tech during my last one I couldn't hold it any longer and she let me go and pee a little off but they only let you if you know you can stop yourself from peeing it all. hope that helps!ShannonBeth -

wow..I feel like I just got to week 18 and it's my last day here...I'm savoring this experience. I've been writing to the Beaner in a journal, so I don't forget any of this and so he/she knows what Mommy went through..I never thought I could feel the joy and love for a complete stranger the way I feel for my baby. I can't wait to get to know her/him...little personalty traits, quirks...will Beaner have mannerisms like me or Daddy? All the little things I'm already in awe of. I just can't wait to have those little fingers wrapped around mine. Cause I've already been wrapped around her little finger!!
I'm so sappy sometimes....nikki1982 -

found this link if any of you are drinking caffeine like I am! From what I read up to 200 mg a day is safe during pregnancy. This site is great when i'm picking my sodas. I chose Barqs rootbeer so I won't feel bad when I have more then a couple in one day. Here is the link

If you know that drinking that much water and holding it is 'mission impossible' for you, then wait until right before the appt. I usually have to go 20 min. after drinking something, so I didn't even attempt that time frame! When they finally called me in(15 min. late) I was already too full and the tech. sent me to 'go' a bit. tamara4843 -

We're having our first ultrasound next Wednesday, and my doctor told me I'm gonna have to drink a litre and a half of water an hour before the appointment!! Has anyone had any problems drinking so much water without having to run to the bathroom? I'm not sure I can make it to the hospital without bursting!!!bobswife -

hello ladies, I went to the dr. today, he said I do have complete placenta pervia. I have not started bleeding so he was suprised about that. I go back for an u/s in two weeks to find out if my placenta has moved up, but the dr. does not expect it to move up any. The baby has been very active so I am very happy about that. Well everyone keep me in ur prayers please. tee34 -

Went to the dr. today..my daughter has fifth's disease and wanted to make sure I don't have it. My doc says not to worry. Has anyone else had to worry about this?? When I was pregnant with my last child I never heard of this or not to eat cold lunch meat, tests for quad screens (which came back positve) etc... This drives me crazy!!! ice-maiden -

I would say go for it as far as starting to purchase your baby things! I am buying like one or two things a week. I have bought some jammies and glass bottles, and of course, that super soft blue baby blanket. I prefer to do it this way because then I am well stocked by the time the baby gets here and I don't have to spend alot of money at one time. Girl we have almost made it to the half way point! You should really allow yourself to relax a little bit and enjoy yourself. That baby is happily growing in there whether you worry yourself sick or not, try to have some fun!BabyMomma1008 -

I'm really nervous & trying to stay calm...this morning I felt like I was going to pass out (roo spinning, darkening, blurred vision) followed by some pretty severe cramps...I called the Dr. an hour and a half ago and left work to come home & put my feet up...still waiting, trying to be calm but I'm so scared...has anyone else experienced this?

Hi ladies, 18 weeks tomorrow and I have a question for any of you. I am pregnant with my 4th but am experiencing some feelings that I don't remember having before.
Are any of you having a popping feeling in the front of your belly? Every now and then when I am turning or lifting up my daughter I get this pop (usually to the right of my belly button). It's not painful really, just startles the heck out of me. Megan the lump maker -

I never bought anything with my first. the baby shower covered it all. If you are planning on having one, try not to buy too much bc it is more than likely that you will get it then. I had to take back almost $2000 worth of stuff!KarenVG -

I would start to buy a few things as it is pretty costly to get it all at the end, or just look for deals that would be too good to miss. I guess the alternative is to put the money you could spend away until a bit later but it depends if you are a good saver or not! LOL I got rid of my kids things too! after the first and the second, I was done after each one!!! Now here comes #3!!!nikolajayneB -

Have any of you ladies started buying things yet or do you think it's a bit too soon? I had a bleed when i was around 7wks & it scared me. In the back of my mind i kept thinking that maybe it would happen again & next time i might not be quite so lucky! I wouldn't like to have lots of things lying around to remind me of what i'd lost! Now that i'm 18wks & only 2wks away from the half way point i'm starting to think that maybe it's ok now to start getting a few things. I can't help but keep having a little look in the shops & there are such lovely things out there. My youngest child is nearly 7 & i honestly never thought i'd have anymore so i got rid of absolutely everything. I'm gonna have to start again from scratch so i daren't leave it too late! Let me know what you think xsurprsdmomi -

I'm the worlds worst house wife. I have waisted nearly a whole day just messing arround with this site, meeting people venting stress and also shopping for maternity cloths on ebay. But then after yesterday why not. I hurt my back a few weeks ago on top of which I am suffering with pubis sy thing (very painfull)I think that is causing me to loose my ballence as I have fallen over 3 times in as many days, but yesterday I twisted my ankle and today it is throbbing. So tht is my excuse. Good news is that bab has been wriggling like mad :-) I'm convinced it's another boy! I'll have to start my own sailing team. MSUSpartan -

Has anyone else had a slight jabbing pain in one or more breasts? I've had an odd pain in my right breast off and on this week. It pulses about 7 or 8 times and then goes away. It hurts, but it's not that bad. It seems to feel better if I hold my boob, which my husband gets a real kick out of. :)island-momma -

has anyone been getting streching pains? I had them a few weeks ago and then they stopped, but yesterday they came back and then last night my belly button area was sore. I feel the slightest flutters sometimes but nothing regular. they seemed stronger last week, should i be worried?Swan -
