Dates and numbers:
There are 74 days until your due date on October 21, 2008.
You are 206 days pregnant.
You are 6.8 months pregnant.
You are in your 7th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: January 15, 2008 to April 14, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: April 15, 2008 to July 28, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: July 29, 2008 to October 21, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)
At this point in your pregnancy, your baby\'s crown-to-rump length is approximately 10.4 inches and the total length of your baby is around 16.7 inches. Your baby weighs about 2.7 pounds and continues to grow every day. If you measure from your bellybutton, your uterus is 3.5 to 4 inches above it. Total weight gain at this point is usually between 19 and 25 pounds.

Babies that are born prematurely can be very tiny. Even a baby that is only a few weeks early can be very small. Your baby will grow rapidly from now until week 36, and then at a slower rate thereafter. Generally, boys weigh more than girls at birth. The average baby\'s birth weight at full term is 7 to 7.5 pounds.
You might notice some leakage of colostrums from your breasts around this time. Colostrums is a sticky, watery substance that provides your baby\'s first food if you choose to breastfeed. Milk does not come in immediately after delivery and colostrums is high in calories and enough for your baby\'s first few days of life. Your baby is stimulating the production of colostrums. The baby\'s body is ensuring that there will be a readily available food supply after delivery.
Your baby will continue to open and close his eyes in the womb and may be able to see silhouettes of objects or even people in the right amount of light. Your baby should be moving many times throughout the day. Some of your baby\'s movements will be predictable and if you notice a decrease in fetal movements, you should lie down and do a fetal kick count. You should feel your baby move approximately ten times in an hour. If you do not notice the proper amount of movements, you should contact your healthcare provider.
Research has shown that your baby is not only able to hear, but also able to recognize your own voice. This shows that your baby can already learn, remember and recognize.

hey dani and mrskcich- I'm glad to hear where you guys are in your weight gain! I just had my dr appt this morning and I've gained 5 pounds in the last 2 weeks. I started out pretty small, 107, and had a goal of only gaining 25 pounds the whole time, but that's obviously shot now. I've already gained 22 pounds! I guess my late night icecream cravings are going to have to get squashed out here pretty quick! =) But I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one having a hard time with the weight gain. And glad to hear that ya'll are in the same boat as me!baby.cakes -

I just got the results back from my one hour glucose tolerance test. They said I was at 164 and they require a second test if it is higher than 140. When I researched it on the Web I found that 180 and up on the one hour is usually when they run more tests. UGH!!! So anyway, I have to go in tomorrow for the three hour test. Have any of you went in for this test? Please let me know any information would be helpful.mrskcich -

about the weight ladies. With my first one, I went from 125 - 185....60 lbs. I know how devastating it can be believe me. Luckily...with this one, my 4th, I have only gained 22 lbs thus far. I was wanting to not gain more than 25 but obviously that isn't possible.DebDer -

shana, dont feel to bad, i personally am only at 24lbs as of my last appt but my best friend gained 60lbs in her pregnancy, my other friend gained 65lbs, i know a girl who gained 80lbs, my mom said she gained 65lbs when she was pregnant with me, so its way more common than gaining low amounts i think!Shanaaaa -

So back from my check up and everything went well. Even though I feel like I'm as big as a small volkswagen, I'm measuring right at 29 weeks! I've put on 6 pounds in 4 weeks, but she said most of that is probably fluid since I have had some swelling in my hands and feet. She is not concerned with the swelling because my blood pressure was great and no protein in my urine. We both agreed that it's probably the heat. But I'm still going to try and watch my junk and try to eat more fruit and crackers instead of the bad stuff I've been snacking on!! I would get out and walk, but it's been so dang hot, that I wouldn't make it far with out passing out!! It's much cooler today, but it's raining. But the next few days are supposed to be cooler, so maybe I can actually get out and walk a little bit in the evening. Baby's heart rate was 154, which she said was good. He was wiggling around in there good today. So it seems like I'm right on track! Just ready to meet this little guy! Hope all you ladies are doing well today! TTYLMrsKiwi -

Found out that I passed my 2-hour glucose test! (I guess they have compassion at the office I go to and don't make it 3-hours!) I was so worried after failing the 1-hour test prior to this one. The good thing is that it made me much more aware of how many carbs I'm actually eating in a day. It's far too easy to get more than enough!Ashley19 -

I am soooo LARGE and I feel like I am carrying around a ton of bricks all in front !! I get the worst pains in my hips and thighs while I sleep. I do LOVE feeling her move !! She kicks and punches like you wouldnt believe !! My hubby was laying on my lap last night half asleep and his head was just barely touching my belly and she kicked him so hard my whole belly like flew to one side and it startled him. LOL...It was quite funny but OUCH did it hurt !!!! Also, I feel so out of breath (like tons of pressure in between my ribs) and sleepy all the time which is quite frustrating when you do daycare from your home and have to chase around a bunch of toddlers !! I felt wonderful all through my second trimester...energy back and everything, and now I feel like Ive reverted back to the first trimester !! The past couple days I have just been so anxious to see her. I have her nursery done and travel system all put together, and clothes all hung up and ready for her....Its just so hard to wait...=] Next thing I have to look forward to is my shower in mid September. I'll be happy when that arrives because then I'll really be able to see the finish line. My last progesterone shot is Sept. 29th....then she can come anytime after that !! We'll just have to see how long my body holds out. Take care ladies and enjoy your day.

We had our 4D scan yesterday and our little girl kept her hands in front of her face the whole time! She is very shy! Anyway, I have a question. I had what I feel might have been Braxton Hicks contractions yesterday but I'm not sure. It was so tight and painful across my whole belly about 4 times in 5 hours. Everything I read though says these are suppossed to be painless? Mine were pretty painful so I am a little concerned. Anybody else have this?madam -

With my GD test, the bottle of orange my Dr. gave me had instructions right on it. Drink and hour before your appointment. Eat like you normally would. Don't want to cheat the test or pretend like you don't eat as much sugar as you normally would. Of course, you should ask your Dr. I assume the tests and drinks are probably different.dani1020 -

Ok, a little bummed today. Went to my OB and I am gaining weight like crazy...I'M HUNGRY ALL THE TIME :) I gained 6 lbs last month and in two weeks, I gained 5 lbs...for a total of 29 lbs. They want me to only gain 35 lbs during the pregnancy. Everything is perfect though, my belly is measuring great, blood pressure is great, etc. The weight is going right to my hips and butt :( firstaz -

So I learned y'day that I passed my 1 hr glucose test...yay ! But I had mine done on July 23rd and when I didn't hear from them at all since then, I called the hospital lab to find out. They said that it's normal (136) and they don't usually call and inform the patient if it's normal but rather wait for the next OB appnt for the doc to tell ya. Didn't know that. Anyways, have a good nite mommies !suhana -

MommyToGirls, the best answer you can get is from the lab you are visiting or doctor's office. For me the doctor didn't say anything but then I called my doctor's office and as well as the lab I was visiting for my test. And then they both asked me to fast for overnight and can have water in the morning before the test.
Good Luck!!!

I was told I could eat a light breakfast 2 hours beofre the test but to watch my sugars. Then they gave me the drink when I got there, I drank it in 5 min and then had to sit in waiting area for an hour (and could not eat during this time). After that they took my blood and then sent me on my way. They called me the following day with my results. I passed! :)derra1976 -

I think it depends on your Dr. and how they do the test. They told me not to fast. I had mine done at like 10 in the morning and she told me to eat breakfast, but not to eat like maple syrup or anything like that. I had oatmeal and then a banana about 20 minutes before going in for my appt. I drank my stuff and waited for an hour and then they drew my blood. I passed mine with no problems. Now my SIL's Dr. gave her the drink to take home with her and she didn't have to fast either. But I remember with my son they told me to fast, and my appt was first thing in the morning, but that was 7 years ago. Baby Keelin -

I have an appt. in a week, and I am so nervous they are going to rag on me for my weight, and I am nervous I will have high blood pressure since my feet have been getting so swollen now that I am sitting at a computer or in conferences all day. I think I have gained 3 lbs in the last 6 weeks, but I am a plus size mom and they only wanted me to gain 15 lbs the entire pregnancy. I am not sure how that is possible, but I have surpassed that. I am at 20 lbs now:(KarenVG -

I was told to fast for 8 hours before my gd test and not allowed to eat or even sip water in the hour between. Thye make us stay there for the hour and then took the blood... wierd how everyone is so differentBaby Keelin -

I had the same experience as Rathi. No fasting for the first one, stayed in the office to get my blood drawn, failed, and fasted for the 3-hour, again stayed in the office for 3 hours, so the initial 1 hour is no big deal. I should mention I passed the 3-hour:) No GD. I am planning on my last day being Friday, Oct. 17. I am due the 21st, and because I am a teacher, I have had the last 2 months off. I am ready to meet the kids and get things going for a few months before I leave them in the hands of a sub. Of course I want my mat leave to count so I plan to suck it up and endure the discomfort up until the end because I want my time to be spent with Keelin!rathi -

And regarding the topic on GD tests, when I went in for the 1hr test, I didnt have fast at all (they specifically said NOT TO FAST), and after I had the sucky sweeeeeeet drink they didnt allow me to have anything for an hr except for water until they poked me - I failed this test and had to go for the 3hr GD test in which I was asked to fast for about 8-12hrs before going in and was not allowed to eat anything after the sweeet drink (3hrs)...and they poked me every hour :)rathi -

Ok...I try to never complain on this site. My mom raised me to believe that I wasn't whining and complaining while I was MAKING the baby, therefore I should not be whining and complaining when I'm carrying the baby LOL! But this pregnancy (my 4th & final) is taking it's toll on me! I am already waddling and I still have 11 weeks to go! My pubic bone is killing me, and all my muscles are stretched out and it hurt every time I get up and walk! I have a desk job, in my own office, but I still get up every hour or so and walk around. My boss (who is a woman) teased me about the way I was walking. I took Monday off because I am so sore! Is everyone else going thru this too? And I am so TIRED all the time these days! I crave to be at home laying on the couch and watching Judge Judy! LOL!NorthWave -

Did any of you ladies not get the GD test done? My doctor never mentioned it to me... and said i'll see him in a month... so obviously I don't get to do the test... why not? Is it because everything is fine with the pregnancy so far or what? Just wondering if anybody else is not getting it! Tx guys mrskcich -

Mommy, for my test..they sent the drink home with me for me to drink before my next appt. I had to drink it in it's entirety within 15 minutes and note the time I finished. They would prick my finger exactly one hour after I finished. I didn't have to fast at all. As a matter of fact, my hubby and I went to breakfast and I drank it while I ate. courtenay -

mommy, i dont know maybe you should call for clarification because it seems like everyone's doctor does it differently and the test is administered different so that could affect things. from my experience i didnt have to do anything different. i went to the lab, after having breakfast etc, drank the drink but couldnt leave for an hour, had to sit there and wait for my blood to be drawn.MommyToGirls -

ok, all she told me was not to eat or drink an hour before. so do I take the drink and then go back an hour later? sorry, she didn't explain much...courtenay -

i should add, that maybe the hour fast people are talking about is AFTER you drink the drink? because i know i was not allowed to eat or drink anything else for an hour in between drinking the orange stuff and getting my blood drawn.courtenay -

i was told i didnt have to fast or anything for the GD sugar test, and i didnt and i passed with no problems whatsoever. i asked and my doctor said fasting can screw it up just as much as eating an entire cake right before, because they are trying to check how you process sugar on your normal diet. if your specifically told to fast for reasons then do it, but if you werent then i would go about your normal diet before the test.MommyToGirls -

I just got back from my check-up. I have to do that sugar drink to test for GD. So how does it work? I didn't have my regular dr. and this one just handed me the form and told me to do it in the next week or so. Do I not eat for one hour before and then take the drink? Then what??
