Dates and numbers:
There are 79 days until your due date on October 26, 2008.
You are 201 days pregnant.
You are 6.6 months pregnant.
You are in your 7th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: January 20, 2008 to April 19, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: April 20, 2008 to August 02, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: August 03, 2008 to October 26, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)
Your baby's crown-to-rump length is approximately 10 inches and the total length of your growing baby is around 15.75 inches. Your baby weighs about 2.4 pounds at this point. Your uterus is a little more than 3 inches above your bellybutton. Your weight gain at this time should be between 17 and 24 pounds.
Blood vessel in the umbilical cord. For several months, the umbilical cord has been the baby's lifeline to the mother. Nourishment is transferred from the mother's blood, through the placenta, and into the umbilical cord to the baby. If the mother ingests any toxic substances, such as
drugs or
alcohol, the baby receives these as well!
You will probably begin visiting your caregiver once every two weeks. Week 28 is an important week for testing. You will probably be having your glucose tolerance test, an iron level test and if you are Rh negative, you should have an antibody test. The antibody test will determine if you and your baby will have any reactions to each other's blood differences. The glucose test will check for gestational diabetes.
Your baby's brain continues to develop and is now forming the folds and grooves of a fully developed brain. The amount of tissues within the brain also continues to increase in large amounts. The hair that covers your baby's scalp is also getting longer. Your baby is now large enough for presentation to be determined and your doctor might be able to find out if your baby is at risk for being breech. If your baby is breech, don't panic. There is still time for the baby to rotate.

With my son I used all my vacation on sick pay and took four weeks off. I went back at 4. My boss was pregnant at the time and gave me two weeks to ween me back in. I only worked 4 hours the first week, 10-2 and six hour the next week. She did it all without them knowing so I still got paid for the 40hr work week. It made it a lot better, especially having a supporting environment. With this one I am a stay at home mom Thank God. I go to school in the evenings when the kids will be with dad and I work 3-4 nights a week from 11-3am. I don't miss out on anything. I think that I will be taking 12 weeks off w/o pay. I don't know if I can go back, my hubby will need the night help.mrskcich -

MissMarina...most of us in the US are allowed but law to take off 12 weeks but I know the majority will return after 6 weeks. I am one of those. My short term insurance only pays 60% of my salary while the dr has me out. Usually after 4-6 weeks the dr's release you to go back to work and then your income is done...so back to work you go.CLAUDiA1stTiMEPREGO -

My cat had her kittens this morning finally! I tried to stay up with her last night but I just couldn't stay awake. good thing becuause she labored until 10am and then the 1st cam out. She was such a champ! She made 2 weird grunt/meows for the 1st one and the other 3 were easy after that. She had 4 in all. 1 grey 1 silver 1 orange tabby and 1 black. She craved some one to be with her the whole time. If I or my fiance' weren't in there with her she would start pacing around and couldn't settle lol.
I guess some maternal hormones were going on becuase my baby kicked the whole time these kittens were being born. I go for an U/S in an hour. I'm really excited to see my baby again!heart strings -

I had the 3d U/S this morning and my son would NOT cooperate. We go back on the 20th to try it again. He is already turned to the birthing position and his heartbeat was 145. rathi -

amycakes, the pack n play's are wonderful to keep in the living room. The one I have has a bassinet part that snaps on top for newborns so you don't have to bend down to the bottom to get them. It also has a changing table and diaper stacker. I love mine and it definitley stays in the living room and if we go somewhere over night, it's easy to close up and bring with us...not bulky at all once closed.mrskcich -

excitedmom2be, With my son, I can't remember but I know with my oldest daughter she wouldn't sleep anywhere other than her swing. She would wake up screaming when the swing stopped swinging. LOL My youngest slept in her crib, which was in our room (this one will do the same). When she would wake up we took turns taking her to the living room and sleeping with her in the recliner. That way one of us would get a good 3-4 hours of sleep.amycakes -

That is funny MM because people keep telling me how much they loved being pregnant and I keep thinking yeah because you aren't anymore, lol. I do love the kicks and knowing he is in there but there is a whole lot that isn't fun too for sure.Benjaminsmom -

I'm not sure how I'm going to arrange the sleeping yet. I want to use the bassinet downstairs I think because that is where we are most of the time and it's accross the house and up the stairs to get to the bedrooms. I think I'm just going to use his crib upstairs and maybe sleep in the spare room with him at first, it doesn't seem right to wake my honey up on nights when he works the next day. I like MALACHIsMOM's idea though too, our couch is really comfy actually. I guess my point was you can really do it any way that works out the best for you so if there isn't room in your room don't worry.MALACHIsMOM -

Ok this is going to sound wierd to many of you, but all the complaints that we have while pregnant we will soon miss. I think my son was two and I started to miss having a pregnant belly and the kicks and jabs. All the misserys of pregnancy quickly faid away.MALACHIsMOM -

I will come up with something on the spot if I have to. We came up with our son's middle name when writting the birth certificate. I will not go home with a nameless baby. Actually I WILL have a name before they are born. I don't want to look into her eyes and say baby I love you but I don't know what to call you.amycakes -
3.2 hours ago
I really thought I had a name but then he decided he didn't like it, so back to square one. I think we both like Julian but I am not totally in love with it yet either. I have this feeling he won't be named until I see his face.MALACHIsMOM -

With my son I spent the first week on the couch with my son. I know it sounds weird, but with my c-section it was easier. He just slept on my chest and I would just sit up to breastfeed. We had the crib set up in our room, we had a one bedroom apt. He eneded up sleeping with me in the bed, I was so exhausted that I would always fall asleep breastfeeding. Especially when I went back to work 4 weeks later. Sometimes we would even be sleeping in the rocking chair. With this baby I have the crib set up in my son's room, but I expect to have the baby in a playpen right next to my bed for the first month. I am now a stay at home mom so I think that I can handle getting less sleep better. And I don't want to cosleep for as long as I did with my son.oneafteranother -

MALACHIsMOM... Hopefully we wont be like those people that wait until a month after the baby is home to come up with a name!.. Good luck! mander7.... usually no news is good news but don't wait for them. Call them if your really curious. I told my docs office to call me no matter what so they put a note on my chart.MALACHIsMOM -

Anyone else having an IMPOSSIBLE time agreeing on baby names? We want this one to be a surprise so it is even harder coming up with a girl name and a boy name. Every name I suggest to my husband he says NO without even considering it. He likes very common names like Jessica, Sarah, Jennifer. These are nice names but I wanted something just a little different. Please let me know if you are in this same situation or have been in the same situation and have any suggestions for me.. thanksBabyEby3 -

Here is a question for all of those who are already mommies... when you brought your newborn home where did he/she sleep? We were thinking of just putting our little girl straight into her own crib in her own room (which is a few feet away from ours) right away. Our bedroom is so small and there is barely a place for the two of us, least a bassinet!bugnjb -

Gestational Diabetes Test - I failed the first one, and the second one was really hard, but I did okay. The one-hour test was one point value above normal, and they told me not to worry, just walk twice a day for 15 minutes to help my body regulate. (yeah, right!) I am starting to swim again. I hate walking, I feel like it's boring, and the walk around my apartment isn't really all that pretty. So, WATER it is!!! For those of you who faile the first one, I believe the second one is simply a bit more sensitive and accurate, so don't worry too much. AND! If you do have GD, be grateful that it was caught in time to keep that baby well and thriving! I'm happy to support anyone in this, as my mother and brother are both diabetic and deal with the real, life-long (not 3-4 months like us), disease every day!!!lorraineg03 -

So far weight gain is 15 pounds :-) Baby however is breech, and I have extra amniotic fluid.. she highly recommends a C-section this time. Which I am ok with I was leaning that way. The really hard shirt jumping kicks crack me up. I think the dog must notice my belly/shirt moving sometimes because he'll come up and stick his nose in my belly button, the other night he got kicked right in the nose and then just looked at me like what the heck just happened to me.danyl -

So this pregnancy really hit me last night. My feet were swollen, my stomach felt large and at its elasticity point (which I KNOW it still has more to go), it is getting really heavy to carry around, I can't sit up by myself, my back hurts and I can't sit without back support anymore, I CANNOT get comfortable any way I move, headaches are killing me...AUGH LADIES!!!! I'm falling to pieces right now! haha. It's so hard carrying around my 12 month old and this stomach of mine...I can't wait till October!!!JustinandBre -

I am soooo LARGE and I feel like I am carrying around a ton of bricks all in front !! I get the worst pains in my hips and thighs while I sleep. I do LOVE feeling her move !! She kicks and punches like you wouldnt believe !! My hubby was laying on my lap last night half asleep and his head was just barely touching my belly and she kicked him so hard my whole belly like flew to one side and it startled him. LOL...It was quite funny but OUCH did it hurt !!!! Also, I feel so out of breath (like tons of pressure in between my ribs) and sleepy all the time which is quite frustrating when you do daycare from your home and have to chase around a bunch of toddlers !! I felt wonderful all through my second trimester...energy back and everything, and now I feel like Ive reverted back to the first trimester !! The past couple days I have just been so anxious to see her. I have her nursery done and travel system all put together, and clothes all hung up and ready for her....Its just so hard to wait...=] Next thing I have to look forward to is my shower in mid September. I'll be happy when that arrives because then I'll really be able to see the finish line. My last progesterone shot is Sept. 29th....then she can come anytime after that !! We'll just have to see how long my body holds out.
Take care ladies and enjoy your day.babbott -
