Dates and numbers:
There are 116 days until your due date on November 03, 2008.
You are 164 days pregnant.
You are 5.4 months pregnant.
You are in your 6th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: January 28, 2008 to April 27, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: April 28, 2008 to August 10, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: August 11, 2008 to November 03, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)

This week your baby's length, from crown-to-rump, is approximately 8 inches! Your growing baby has finally reached one pound. Your baby is about the size of a small baby doll and looks very human. The baby's face and body look similar to that of a newborn at this time. Your uterus can be found about 1.5 inches above your navel. Your total weight gain should be approximately 15 pounds at this time.
You might notice some Braxton-Hicks contractions around this time. These contractions are not regular and they should not be painful. Braxton-Hicks contractions prepare your body for the upcoming labor and they will get stronger as your pregnancy progresses. You might be able to feel the contractions if you put your hand on your abdomen and your baby can probably feel the uterus gripping and massaging her. It will not harm your baby, so there is no need for concern.
Fat is still being deposited at a rapid rate, but your baby still looks red and wrinkled. Skin is being produced at a higher rate than the fat is, so the skin hangs loosely. Your baby looks red because the skin is losing its transparency and pigment is beginning to form. You should be feeling your baby moving quite a bit throughout the day as she will kick and punch the uterus walls. Babies also run their hands along the umbilical cord and touch their body parts while they are in the womb.

Your baby now can suck her thumb for real, where she was just sticking it in her mouth. Your baby will continue to swallow amniotic fluid and recycle it as urine. The liquids and sugars that the baby retracts from the fluid is a supplement to the nutrients that the placenta delivers. You might be able to feel small `jumps` inside of you when your baby gets the hiccups from swallowing fluid. The pancreas is developing and it will responsible for insulin production, to help break down sugars.
Oily fish in your diet could help boost your baby's health. (Women who eat oily fish while pregnant have children with better visual development, a major study at Bristol University suggests.)
As the baby continues to grow, it has less space to move around in the uterus. Bones, muscles and organs are growing steadily.

Okay, well I am pregnant with my second BOY and I wonder i you girls can help me out... until when is it ok for your kids to see you naked like in the shower? My son is 4 1/2 and he sometimes showers with me, he always had until the other day, my husband made a comment and made me feel totally weird. An hour ago I was in the shower and my son was about to jump in with me with a few of his toys and I told him NO! and he looked surprised and confused. What do I do?firstbunmommy -

I hear you on the recession. I'm really upset, but I'll get over it... my birthday is Friday, and my mom sent me a little $$ early. I had to use it to buy groceries for me and my boyfriend. I can barely stay afloat. The whole financial thing sucks BIG.almightyadam -

I was leaking quite a bit in the first trimester, but not as much in the second. I'm sure I'll have to wear depends in the third! I've always had to get up in the night to pee (before being prego), so it's that much worse now. vanessag7 -

I have had... um... 'frequent urination syndrome' (ha ha!) from about week 10. No kidding. I pee probably about 5-6 times a night, which means I'm not getting much sleep. And yes, I've been leaking... I've learned that if I wait too long, I leak without coughing or laughing or bending over, so I have to go ALL THE TIME to avoid that. Very annoying. Pany liners help. Mini-pads are even better!vanessag7 -

Jury is still out on the saftey of foils etc when pregnant but they do say the second trimester is the best time to get anything like that done. I just get tints currently and then I will go back to foils once bubs is born. I think its a personal choice but my hair dresser wont foil my hair now, I aksed her elizabethf -

I think it's cute that my boyfriend is now coming up and touching my belly sometimes. Our little boy is SOO stubborn already because every time he's wiggly and Jim puts his hand on my tummy to feel him, he stops moving! Of course Jim thinks he's stubborn too and says 'that's my boy!' :)dcarr0404 -

Went to the Doctor today. All looks and sounds perfect. I have gained 7 pounds so far, however I think its all going to my boobs! LOL! If my boobs weren't so darn big (34DD) I think my stomach would look bigger. Tonight I am headed to my first prenatal massage and so very excited. I need a good old back massage for carrying around these watermelons on this little frame of mine.anglsfrmhvn -

Wish it was hot here in the UK, it's all rain, rain, rain and more rain. :(
First day in week 23, can't believe how fast it is going. I'm really trying to take as many bump photos as I can and record my experience in my journal this time as it is so soon over and the memories faded.
Got my midwife appointment tomorrow and will hopefully get the forms I need to notify work of my maternity leave. Only three months to go, I can't wait and am counting down the days!
I'm well though, the pelvic pain isn't bothering me today although baby's kicks and squirms are getting strong now and making me lose concentration at work, not good!
Hope everyone has a good week, will pop back soon. :)

Anyone else not putting on much weight? Not that I'm complaining or anything! I've still only gained about 6lbs upto now. My bump still looks pretty big though. Even my doc couldn't believe I was only 23 weeks yesterday! Anyone else in a similar situation? xtiggerlover -

Hi ladies, I wanted to comment on a couple of things I've read on the page. I don't remember who wrote what so here it goes. One-my baby moves all the time (that makes me happy) and what do hiccups feel like? I can see my tummy move when she moves or is it hiccups? Two- I am in Baltimore, Md. and it is hot today and I also have no air in my car. I've been working on getting it fixed. Uhg! I am dreading the ride home from work. Three-Money is also tight with us, thank God for supportive family members. And, good thing we get to have babyshowers to give us a head start on things to buy. Four-I went to the doctors today and have gained 18 pounds so far. I'm not happy about that. I am a voluptous woman, so I started on the heavier side. But, my doc said to not worry. However, I am still a little dissapointed with myself. And five-thanks to everyone who answered my earlier question about weeks and months. Have a lovely week ladies, I'll be 23 weeks tomorrow.

kaycie1 - You are SOOOO right! Money issues suck so bad right now. EVERYTHING has gone up EXCEPT for our paychecks!!! What ever happened to 'cost of living' raises?? The cost of living is so high, we have no extra money out of our checks after paying all of the bills. I have not had a raise in over a year and it's getting rediculous! Thank God Ebay is a decent second income for me (enough to buy my gas and groceries every week) or we'd be screwed! ~Tania =) xoxovipbaby68123 -

Kaycie1 I am living in South Africa, and I dont think that its only you guys in the US, food, fuel, housing prices are going up rapidly across the world and there are many people who are now feeling they cannot cope, I have not bought a single thing for this baby, my house does not even have a microwave or couch yet because I just cannot afford it. Its ridiculous how much things costs lately, we got married in May this year so that absorbed all our savings We are just as stressed about when the baby comes and how we will afford everything its as if it consumes my thoughts 24/7. Anyway I spoke to someone last night who told me that babies often come at bad time but things always work out in the end so keep staying positive and try your best to stay away from getting in to more debt. kaycie1 -

I finally broke down and bought a preg swim suit. I have been swimming at least once every day. I make my husband go with me and he is always like we have to go again. It is just so relaxing to float on the water I think Abby likes it. Mike (my husband) finally got to feel the baby kick last night. He did not get as excited as I thought he would. Made me kinda sad. He was really sick when it happened so I dont know if that was why he was just like oh ok. Well it is time to try to go to be bed. I am running on like two hours of sleep. Anyone have suggestions on thing that help them sleep?? expecting erica -

Hey ladies! First day in week 23! Went to get a 3D/4D US to find out the sex and they said it was a girl. But I don't think it is! Anybody else disagree with what they told you? It was not a dr. that told us, it was the lady at the Stork Snapshots place...idk, I want a second opinion...kaycie1 -

i dont know about other countries, but USA is in a recession right now, so is anyone else in the US having money problems?? it really sucks right now how expensive everything is and how much money is not coming in. i m just wondering because i am fighting with my husband once again about money. i am so tired of it. he is not even excited about the baby anymore because he is so stressed about money. it just seems that he is constantly like this and it sucks!!i try so hard to stay positive, but it doesnt help with him. i told him that u cant enjoy the good times without the bad, but he doesnt believe me. i wish he could at least be happy to know that we are having another healthy baby girl, and to know that its a blessing and who cares that we cant go out to eat all the time or go on vacations, but he doesnt think of it that way. its hard without me working , but no one will hire me being pregnant, and besides we have 3 other kids too. well if anyone else is having this problem let me know i am really upset about this. sorry to post such a long comment but i needed to get it off my chest. snowbaby -
