Dates and numbers:
There are 103 days until your due date on November 07, 2008.
You are 177 days pregnant.
You are 5.8 months pregnant.
You are in your 6th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: February 01, 2008 to May 01, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: May 02, 2008 to August 14, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: August 15, 2008 to November 07, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)

Your baby's crown-to-rump length is about 8.8 inches. Weight has increased to around 1.5 pounds and fat is still being deposited at a high rate. Babies come in all shapes and sizes, so your baby could vary slightly from these `average` measurements. Your uterus has grown quite a bit bigger this week. The top of your uterus is between your bellybutton and your sternum. Your uterus is about the size of a soccer ball now!
If your baby is delivered at this time, it would have a good chance of surviving. It is best for your baby to remain inside of you for the remainder of the pregnancy, but great advances have been made in the care of a premature baby. Ventilators, monitors and medications all help premature babies develop and grow outside of the womb. If your baby were born this early, he would probably have to spend several months in the hospital and would be more susceptible to infections and other complications.
You can hear your baby's heartbeat with both a Doppler and a stethoscope at this time, and your partner may even be able to hear the heartbeat unaided if he puts his ear in the right position. Sex differentiation is being completed now. If you are expecting a baby boy, the testes start to descend into the scrotum. In baby girls, the vagina is hollowing out. Your baby is able to do more with their fingers now and can move his fingers to make a complete fist. As your baby becomes more dexterous, he will be able to touch and hold his feet. Babies also begin to prefer their left hand or right hand at this time. Because babies settle into routines of sleep and activity, you might begin to notice these patterns as well. Some women experience the most fetal movements while they are trying to rest.

danni-i'm sorry that you are going through this right now. i totally agree with luckywhite though. i can't imagine how hard it would be to be a single mom, but i would rather do that than have such negativity in my life. that environment just would not be good for you or the baby..what an ass to do this while you are preg..you owe him nothing..things happen for a reason.luckywhite -

Chloe - They say a firm mattress is best. We spent a little more on one because if the mattress has too much give, the blankets and sheets can suffocate your little one. We got ours at Walmart and it was like $78. It's a Sealy. Just place the mattresses flat on the store floor and do a test on them and make sure they are very firm - not squishy or soft at all.almightyadam -

basically- don't buy the cheapest and don't buy the most expensive mattress. Make sure it is flame retardant (i think they all are) and hypoallergenic.dannii -

I wish I had a baby shower to get excited for. This is my 4th and I didnt have one for the 2nd or 3rd and they are spaced apart. I have all boys and this is a girl now so maybe my family will do something extra special for me. My neighbor also has three boys real close in age and her 4th is due a few weeks before me and she has all kinds of people to throw her a shower. I guess you have to have friends in order to do that:( Not complaining, just real bummed! jenadamandbaby -

Alright ladies...to the ones who don't have children yet and this is your first..let me just tell you what you've got comin!!!! I was in the bedroom a second ago gettin stuff done and I heard my son make a little cry(remind you he's 2) so I walk in the livingroom and he's sittin on the couch with a bottle of chocolate syrup squeezing it ALLLL over him and in this one spot on the couch making a puddle!!!! I almost shit my pants!!! The little turd opened the fridge, came and sat, and start squeezing!!! Its funny when you become a parent you laugh at the little things(it came off and he did get a spankin) I went and grabbed my camera and he looks up and says 'Cheeeeeeese'!!! Luckily I cleaned it all up before my husband got home(5 min before!!) and he says 'why did you let him have chocolate syrup?' ya I said 'here Deegan, take this and go play!' YA RIGHT!! I just had to share this with you ladies!!! What a day I've had =)britteybaby -

Jen Mc- pee has and odor and I believe amniotic fluid has no odor. The only way to tell for sure is to call your doctor and get checked. I wouldn't wait around if you are leaking you can get an infection and have an early delivery. Please call your doctor.
I stepped on the scale this morning and I lost the 4 pounds I gained..... I'll have to keep an eye on that.

Hoping you ladies can answer a question for me...I have some leaking...that reading previous posts on the site I beleive is just pee which I wouldn't be too worried about (other than being annoying). Does anybody know how to be sure it isn't amniotic fluid? I read previously someone had said that amniotic fluid smells sweet but this doesn't seem to have any odor at all.jenadamandbaby -

It's amazing that so many of us feel the baby more during the day than in the evening! From everything I have read this is the opposite of the norm but I am with you! He is so active all day and at night nothing (well not much). I hope this carries over into after delivery and we will have good night sleepers! :)ulala86 -

huntersmommy - our little guy does the same thing. 'look/feel he's kicking' and then he stops - I guess he doesn't like to perform for others. It almost makes me feel special that I'm the one he does it for, and won't for others. This weekend my boyfriend could see my belly moving and he tried to feel him. No sooner did he put his hand on my belly and 'Cletus' stopped kicking. Jim said 'he's such a little shit!!' and 'you know he's going to take after me - stubborn like his daddy'. At least he thinks it's funny!abrowneyedgurl -

tx girl, everyone tells me i'll get tired of the kicks too but i never will! it's the only thing that keeps my smiling all day. and yeah, he's not a night kicker either, i love that! when i go to sleep, he goes to sleep with me. he's always kickin at peak hours and really just all through the day. the only thing is, i ALWAYS try to tell ppl (hubby or ppl from work) to look or feel and immediately when i tell someone, he stops. it's the weirdest thing. i know he doesn't know when i tell someone to look but it never fails. jenadamandbaby -

I think I'm getting kicked 50% of the time too! I've loving every movement. Everyone told me that I'll get tired of him waking me up, etc., but he sleeps good at night and is more active first thing in the morning, then after I eat breatkfast, right after lunch, and in the evening after dinner and right before bed. It SO fun to watch my belly move. I'm afraid someone at work is going to catch me!!!justine4life -

Mine is definatley ona schedule...In the morning my little guy moves usually about 30 minutes after I have my morning Nesquik LOL!!
I have noticed he always goes on a kickign spree between 12:00 & 2:00pm... I guess thats when he wants lunch. Night tiem is so hard.. I want him to kick so my 4 year old can feel him.. but he always seems to kick around 9:30pm when she is sleeping :-( Hunters Mommy -

tigger, my baby def moves on a schedule. i've been telling my husband since about 20 weeks that he moves every morning right when i first wake up, before i really start to move around. it's like he's use to me getting up at 6:30 am every day for work so he does it on his own now. also, during the day at work, he moves constantly. then again at night around 6:30 or so. right before dinner time. i read that babies in the womb should be sleeping about 90% of the time but it seems like he is kicking about 50% of the time! tigger-i def notice this baby moving more at certain times during the day..seems the little bugger is very active at night..or around 2am, 4am..oh lordy.tiggerlover -

Is anyone else taking note and noticing that their baby seems to move on a schedule? It's hard for me during the day because I am at work and he seems to move all of the time, but when I get home at night, I notice he starts moving right about 8:30. I am eating a pepperoni pizza right now, and it is SOOOOO YUMMY! I'm sure that will get him moving. =)
