Dates and numbers:
There are 105 days until your due date on November 09, 2008.
You are 175 days pregnant.
You are 5.7 months pregnant.
You are in your 6th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: February 03, 2008 to May 03, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: May 04, 2008 to August 16, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: August 17, 2008 to November 09, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)

This week your baby's crown-to-rump length is around 8.4 inches and your baby will weigh approximately 1.2 pounds. Although it weighs a little over a pound at this point, your growing baby is still tiny. Your uterus can easily be felt 1.5 to 2 inches above your bellybutton. The fetus does not appear to have much room in the uterus anymore, but as your pregnancy progresses, space gets much tighter!
Because your uterus is expanding and putting a great amount of pressure on your abdomen, you might get stretch marks. Your weight gain may also be taking a toll on your body at this point. Many pregnant women experience backaches, bladder problems, sore feet and fatigue that affect their daily routines. You might also have some nasal stuffiness or nosebleeds.
Your baby's face is basically complete now. The fetus's eyes are close together on the front of his face and they are still shut. Your baby's ears have moved into their final position on the sides of his head. Where they are now is where they will be when your baby is born! Hair will continue to grow on his scalp and his eyelashes are well developed. Most of your baby's features look the same as they will at birth. Because your growing baby is getting plumper, he no longer has room in your tummy to do cartwheels and somersaults.
Now is a good time to ask about prenatal classes being offered in your area. Many local hospitals offer classes for expectant women and their families. You should aim to complete the classes approximately one month before your due date.
You may sometimes get a stitch-like pain in your side from time to time. It's simply the muscles of the uterus stretching.
the unborn child is covered with a fine, downy hair called lanugo. Its tender skin is protected by a waxy substance called vernix. Some of this substance may still be on the child's skin at birth at which time it will be quickly absorbed.
The child practices breathing by inhaling (up to a liter/day) amniotic fluid into developing lungs.

I just got the stuff to drink before my next appointment for the glucose test. It looks like orange corn syrup. Hope it doesn't make me gag! I think it'll be okay though. I'm pretty sure I don't have diabetes but I'm curious about the test since I don't know much about it. I just hope my nephew doesn't drink the orange stuff since it looks like his bug juice! That'd be bad. How's everyone doing with the summer heat? I've been doing okay but some days I feel sooooo lethargic! Yuck!dd1028 -

firstbun- yea I had a glucose done at 20 weeks to double check because I was heavier before I got pregnant, and am so lucky to have it again in 3 weeks. It's not too too bad- it just tastes like orange soda but a little sweeter- depending on the flavor, and then you have such amount of time to drink it, wait an hr and then they draw blood. it's not the most horrible thing in the world though. TO EVERYONE ELSE THAT REPLIED ABOUT THE DOG SITUATION>: thanks so much for your input- I think I'm just going to go and politely (or at least try to) talk to them, and let them know about the situation and then also let them know it is not my responsibility to watch after their dog...i have 2 of my own, plus a baby on the way- def. don't need the added stress...wish me luck!firstbun -

Ok- quick question...this is a little bit unrelated to pregnancy- but just asking what you all would do in this situation...My husband and I just got new neighbors- extremely nice people, and they have the cutest little dog (I'm an animal lover as well, i have a golden retriever, and a miniature pinscher) well they have a little shitzsu (spelling?) but they NEVER take the dog inside, and I mean we always have like at least 50% humidity here where we live. I feel so bad for the dog that I've even taken it in my house to give him water etc. Well today put me over the top- I came home from running errands, and neither the wife or husband were home, and had left the dog tied up outside to their trampoline!!!!, but somehow the dog got loose and was sitting in front of the garage trying to get some shade- so I took him, and tried to retie him back up but the tie out was stuck, so I knew they always left their side garage door open, so I put him in the crate in there- because I didn't want anything to happen to him. I haven't talked to them about it yet- but its so frustrating! Why have a dog if you're going to treat him so poorly! I want to call animal control and report it or something but then I'm afraid they would know it was me. What should I do? any suggestions?twinsx2 -

With my first three babies, I was working full time and this is what I learned about maternity leave. Federal law requires that employers hold your job and give you 12 weeks unpaid leave- however you split it up- 4 wks before 8 after , 6 and 6, etc as long as your doctor excuses you. If you have short term disbility, you collect that, if not, you MAY be eligible for disability from the unemployment office. You will just have to get a doctors excuse and go to the Unemploy. office and fill out the paper work and see if you qualify. I had short term dis insurance thru my employer and never had any problem getting my 60% from them.
Good luck, hope this helps. Maternity leave falls under FMLA( family medical leave act) you can google it and get more info.danieannie -

Hi all... thanks for all the advice I received on the breast feeding question I asked... lots of people recommended using a breast pump, I used one with my last baby but found I expressed hardly anything even though I fed for a year!!! My question now is...was it the type of pump and price??? (It was a boots own electronic one approx £20) Thanks !MYBLESSING3 -

myblesssing3: the best way to find out is call your local unemployment office and tell them you will be having a c-setion on such and such as date will you be eligible.OR you can call your doctor's office and ask them...they are very well versed in this sort of thing and from what my honework had taught me...the doctor must give your a medical discharge not that will be taken to unemployment office anyways, so you may as well start w/ doc's office. Good luck!MYBLESSING3 -

This note had to be separate because it's so dear to me...last night my wonderful husband got to feel his son move! It was only once so far, but his smile made me feel so perfect and pleasing to him-like I 'made his life' by his son moving and being healthfully inside me. This is my living dream coming true having his child!petes wife -

are those of you who wowk already planning on when to take yor medical leave? In NJ I was told you can leave 4 weeks before you deliver and collect diability and then have 6-8 weeks recovery from c-setions. Anyone out there planning on leaving 4 weeks early (before due date)??? I am trying to tough out this hellish job w/ my mother and I'd like a relatively 'sane' persons perspective. tribegirl08 -

Wow, time is all of a sudden flying by! I have a friend who is going through a rough time right now, and I have found myself crying a lot because of what she is going through - there is nothing I can really do, but it has to do with her kids, so I think I feel a bond right now... I cry over the silliest things right now, but I can't help it. Anyone else finding themselves overly emotional?ilovechocolate -

Is anyone here from the States and considering a delivery at home or in a birthing center as opposed to a hospital? A midwife instead of an OB? I have been researching this and just watched the film 'The Business of Being Born' and it is a real eye opener - I am definitely looking into this and talking with my OB about it tomorrow at my appointment. Just wanted to see if anyone had an experiences or advice to give. Thanks!!!tribegirl08 -

Hi ladies! I'm heading to week 25 tonight and am so excited! I was out of town this past week and my husband got our little girl's room painted and it looks marvelous! So exciting - her furniture should be here in the next 4 weeks or so along with her custom bedding - YEA! I also wanted to mention a book that has really saved my sanity, The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy! It is informative, accurate and funny - I highly suggest getting a copy! Love to all!rvblessed -

As far as Yoga is concerned...I wouldn't do a regular Yoga class...they have Yoga specifically for pregnant women. I would look into doing that...from what I understand, when you are prego, you can injure yourself pretty easily by overstretching. So, be careful and have fun!!Wanda -

Hey girls,I've got a question for you .How often do you feel the braxton hicks contraction each day ? I can feel this dull pain around my lower back (its like the one during my periods ) and it happens most of the day i think. Its really irritating .sometimes i feel like i need to buy a new sofa.Yesterday it was really hard for me to get some sleep bcoz of shortness of breathe. This second trimester is suppose to be like second honeymoon. But i think my 1st honeymoon was far far better .Gemma24 -
