Dates and numbers:
There are 177 days until your due date on November 11, 2008.
You are 103 days pregnant.
You are 3.4 months pregnant.
You are in your 4th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: February 05, 2008 to May 05, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: May 06, 2008 to August 18, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: August 19, 2008 to November 11, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)
You are now in your second trimester! Your baby's crown to rump length is 3.2 to 4.5 inches long and he weighs approximately 1 ounce now. Your baby is about the size of the average fist.
Now that you are into your second trimester, you may be starting the best part of your pregnancy. You will probably start to feel more energetic and you may get the `pregnancy glow`. Your uterus is beginning to swell week by week and you can follow its progress by locating the top of the uterus. The position of the top of the uterus will continue to gradually move up your abdomen, from beneath the pubic line to above your navel. Maternity clothes are probably necessary now. You might also experience hemorrhoids, which are painful dilated blood vessels around or inside the anus.
At this time, your baby's face is becoming more developed. The cheeks and bridge of his nose appear and the ears move from the sides of his neck to much higher on his head. The eyes continue to come closer together. A big development from this week onward is the development of lanugo. Lanugo is the fine hair that grows over almost your entire baby. The hairs grow in whirled patterns that follow the grain of his skin. These patterns later give way to your baby's fingerprints. The lanugo will be shed before birth and replaced by thicker, coarser hairs. Your baby's thyroid gland has matured and starts to produce hormones. If your baby is a boy, the prostate will appear and the ovaries descend from the abdomen into the pelvis in baby girls.
If you are having the Chorionic Villus sampling test (to check for Down's syndrome) it's done round about now.
The embryo`s soft cartilage is now being replaced with ` real` chalk bones.
Your baby has eyebrows, but no eyelashes. Fine, light hair also begins to grow.

found this link if any of you are drinking caffeine like I am! From what I read up to 200 mg a day is safe during pregnancy. This site is great when i'm picking my sodas. I chose Barqs rootbeer so I won't feel bad when I have more then a couple in one day. Here is the link

Went to the doctor 2day, everything going good, but it was still to early to tell the sex, so waiting till about 18weeks to see. The baby is already 14cm and about 80gr., the doc says it is a big baby, little heart is beating at about 140bpm. When i was watching the u/s the baby was kicking and jumping up and down. Started to feel the baby during the week already. Hope everything goes well with all!kismet -

mommyky i am also having bad headaches and have been told to try a few things. laying down in a quiet dark room closing your eyes. also using an ice pack on your forehead or base of your head in back. the thinking that one is that the cold helps to constrict the blood vessles (i think) also try taking a warm shower or eating or taking a nap. i think the thinking behind these things are sometimes you can be sleepy or tired and not realize or you just might be tense and need to relax. i hope this helps some.mommyky -

so I have been reading peoples messages since I first found out I was pregant @ 5 weeks. But I finally had a question I needed to ask. I have had real bad head aches, almost everyday. does anyone know any natural ways to ease the pain. I really do not want to take any meds. Congrats to everyone!!!Huma-A -

i bought the snoogle pillow for my first pregnancy and it helped me stay on my side throughout the night because i was really bad at sleeping on my back... (since they tell u not to closer to the end of ur pregnancy). there are many types of those pillows out there.
and about the baby bump, i haven't really started getting into maternity clothes, but i'm wearing my 'fat clothes' that i had to buy after having my first baby. LOL. it's a size bigger than my usual but it's working... for now!happymommy2 -

My hips have been extremly sore, I flip over & the other one hurts too! I started using a leg pillow and that hasn't worked out too well. Still getting use to how to flip with it. But no complaints here, for this little one it's all ok. :)silverboy -

Oh, and I have one of those Boppy Cuddle Pillows to sleep with. It's not too bad. My belly gets pretty sore, so it's nice to have something to put underneath it. It isn't a 100% fix by any means. I'm still having trouble sleeping, but it does help a little. I don't wake up with a sore belly now. Just a sore back! hahahamommylissa2008 -

Hey there. I had an issue with having a cyct on my ovary in the first trimester, too, but my doctor told me it was probably just where my egg came from and that is was perfectly normal. I think I'm retaining water already, and I've been in maternity clothes almost since I found out I was pregnant. At least since week 10. I've already had people asking me when I'm due, so I guess I look pretty prego!lilbean4me -

about the hair dying... first, you DO want to play it safe and wait until you're through the first trimester. If you don't, you may end up with a totally different color than you want, like I did (I colored it 'blonde' when I didn't know I was pregnant yet... it turned out auburn red-- hint hint nudge nudge.. LOL). After that, you do want to let your beautician know you are pregnant so she doesn't use the harshest thing she's got... but from every doctor I've asked and everything I read, it is 'okay' to go ahead and color/highlight after the first trimester. I've done it, and I know many women who have, and their babies were fine, as was mine.
Thrilled to be in Week 14 with y'all! Hope you're doing well. My bump is not too noticeable, yet... I was carrying some extra tummy pounds before, but my pants don't fit right. They're too tight over the bump, even though they're baggy pants! I can't get the waistband in a comfortable position, so I guess I'll be getting into my maternity pants soon.

Does anyone else have people looking straight at your belly, and not at your face. I have been getting this alot lately. I sometimes want to put my hand in front of my belly and wave high. I think people are trying to figure out if I am pregnant, or just chubby...NovemberBaby -

I went to the Dr. yesterday and the baby's heartrate was 158bpm. But the Dr. did say that he wants to do another sonogram tomorrow to check to see if the cyst on my ovary has gone away. Did anyone else get diagnosed with a cyst on their ovary in the first trimester? I am hoping and praying that it is gone and won't cause any problems later on.Wanda -

Talking about cloths, jeans don't fit anymore, running out of pants. I have a bit of a belly and we know this is also a big baby, the baby was already at 10 weeks the size of almost a 12 week baby. It runs in hubby's family. But to tell the truth I look forward to every cm and bumb i gain. The preggy pillow is an investment on sleep, will never go without one again.I think I started to feel the baby kick, it is still very faint but it must be the baby, i never felt something like it before. Seeing doc 2morrow, then i'll make sure. Good luck to all and enjoy.kismet -

I've got quite a bump already. At the last scan (12 wks) my doc said the baby was already the size of a 13 week baby. My sister-in-law had a 9 pound baby girl, it was her first so it looks like I'm in for a big baby too, omg!!

I will be 15wks on Sat. I have been wearing maternity clothes for weeks. I don't have a really round bump, just a little one. But my clothes don't fit. They started getting tight at four or five weeks. I noticed my clothes were tight before I had a positive pregnancy test. And the doctor says I've only gained five pounds. I can't figure out what's going on. It's like my whole body just changed it's shape entirely. swisscheese50 -

Morning Ladies, hope you all are feeling well. :) my nose has been running like crazy and I've gotten to that point where my limbs are falling asleep on me even if I'm standing. It's so weird. This happened during my last pregnancy and it was because of the baby sitting on some nerves and stuff. ick. 1023mommie -

I have more than a baby bump!! I am already in maternity clothes!! and this is my first baby. I have gained 18 pounds already, but I am not huge. I was underweight before and now I have more of a butt and bb's, not to mention a pregnant belly. But I have to say I love it!! I move to week 15 tomorrow and can't wait. Hope everyone is doing well. preggy08 - i dyed my hair at home the other day. i made sure i was out of my first trimester to do it and kept all the windows and vents open for circulation. they say not much is absorbed into the scalp, although some of it might, but as many times as i cleaned the bathroom during my first pregnancy, i really didnt think the hairdye would do any damage! some doctors even say u can paint while being pregnant, even though paint cans say not to! different opinions i guess.Huma-A -

thatweirdgirl - my doc said i can take Flintstone vitamins (2 a day) along with a folic supplement if the multivitam gives me nausea... which it isn't, but in case if it does. sometimes doctors prescribe a prescription multivitamin that helps. you should ask ur doc.
