Dates and numbers:
There are 38 days until your due date on November 19, 2008.
You are 242 days pregnant.
You are 7.9 months pregnant.
You are in your 8th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: February 13, 2008 to May 13, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: May 14, 2008 to August 26, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: August 27, 2008 to November 19, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)
Your baby's crown-to-rump length this week is approximately 12.8 inches and the total length is around 19.8 inches at this time. Your baby now weighs almost 5 pounds. From your bellybutton, it is about 5.6 inches to the top of your uterus. Measurements of your uterus vary from woman to woman. You should not worry if you do not measure the exact same as your pregnancy friends or family members as long as you are growing appropriately. When your uterus grows and gets larger at an appropriate rate, it shows that your baby is growing well inside of your uterus.

Braxton-Hicks contractions are going to get stronger and more frequent within the next few weeks. Braxton-Hicks contractions feel like a tightening at the top of your uterus that spreads down and then relaxes. Many women mistake Braxton-Hicks contractions for true labor contractions, but this is rarely the case. Braxton-Hicks contractions will diminish if you get up and walk around and they should not be painful.
Your baby's hair continues to get longer and thicker. Your baby's hair color probably is not going to be the same color from birth onwards, so you should expect it to change in color. Your baby is shedding most of lanugo, but the amount of vernix caseosa is increasing. Your baby is taking calcium from you to lay down lots of bone. Continue to take your prenatal vitamins and drink milk to ensure that you receive enough calcium.
If you were to deliver your baby now, it would probably be called a pre-term infant instead of premature. The only difference is in the maturity, particularly lung maturity. A pre-term baby is less likely to need intensive care because its lungs have developed. Doctors can test lung maturity with an amniocentesis that checks levels of surfactant.
The baby now rests on your uterus and is no longer floating.
Fingernails now reach over the finger tips and the baby can scratch itself.

Just reading through some of the comments posted and the main topic is sex lol! Which is where im having problems at my house. I'm way way 2 tired for it but my 1st pregnancy i was all for it. I had a boy the first time and same for this baby... another boy! But my sex drive is just not there at all this time. I feel awful cuz I know my hubby is being left feeling what he calls 'neglected' but it feels better knowing that im not the only one not wanting it. EriksGirls08 -

Hey Everyone, I'm new! I've been eavesdropping on the message board, but finally decided to join in! I'm soooo anxious just like I see all of you are!
I'd have to admit that the comment that finally made me join was LacyLou's-- since I have been sex-deprived myself! hahaha... sucks, but hey, I finally came to terms with it.. I'd expect nothing less than for my boyfriend to respect my discomfort if I was the one not wanting sex- besides, it has increased our intimacy in other ways, that I think are very special...
Anyways, glad to finally be here with all of you, even though I'm moving on to week 35 in two days! masonnickey -

Since everyone else is on the topic of sex, I'll jump in! I haven't lost an ounce of my sex drive but my boyfriend is too scared to even touch me:( We went from everyday, to 2 times a week, to me begging after 2 weeks! It's driving me nuts! I still look good and am not in any way overweight...just preggars! He said the thought of the baby in there just really freaks him out. Let's just say I go to sleep pretty upset all the time. No wonder I only sleep 3 hours a night!4215anita -

I can't stand sex right now, it must be so awful for my bf. But I get the feeling that I have to go to the washroom after and it never goes away, similar to the feeling you get from a UTI....it's really weird...i hope this doesn't continue after I've had the baby!!kirvia -

Hey mommas just wanted to contribute to the issue on sex.
My bf and i still have great sex lives.he still finds me attractive and my libido hasn't gone down,i think it has increased or its just the same. The only problem we have is that he just cannot ejaculate in me because it causes me to have contractions. It's not an old wives tales it actually happens to me before i actually realized what was happening and that was from i was 5mths.the doctor said we should use that as a natural induction method when im 36 weeks or above ..lol.Semen contains prostaglandins which softens the cevix,it's true look it up.Good luck to yall.sarahxx -

Hi Ladies, quick question, When I have a Braxton Hicks, I notice it tingles really intensly in the lower part of my belly then it tighten up all around but the main feelings are lower not high up like they are described. If I feel my belly when I have a BH its rock solid, doest hurt at all, How would you describe your feelings of BH? billo -

hi girls, good to hear you're all doing okay, i feel like a quick chat, hope you don't mind. We're still having sex too, my libido has been pretty low most of the pregnancy but in the last couple of weeks it has rocketed lol! Glad that dp doesn't mind - although he did go through a moment back there where he thought he was going to put me into labour by doing it, but i persuaded him to try and it didn't so he isn't worried now lol! The other day I was wanting to put some stuff in my loft, so opened the hatch, and did a mini jump to get the loft ladder (which i've done many times before) but this time I fell off the stool as i landed onto the floor, hit the ground with my shoulder, bruised my foot and cut my hand. And i was in total shock, bab moved pretty soon after but I really have learned to slow things down now and not to try to do too much, I feel so stupid for trying to do normal things at 34 weeks pregnant and considerably heavier than ever before! It scared me actually. On happier notes though the babs room is now ready, I just have to wash all clothes and nappies, and I'm starting to put my 3 hospital bags together. In fact our house is ready now, we finally got carpet everywhere this week so we're really nearly done, it's very exciting and finally feels like home. Anyway, I wish you all good health for the next few weeks, and luck for all the early's out there! This is a super exciting time! xxxharrison mummy -

LacyLou - My first baby used to measure 1 week further than I was which is normal, never thought I would have a big baby but he he was 9 lb 12 oz, but I didnt seem that big. I am pregnant with my second and measure around the same 1 week ahead but I look smaller than before. They are keeping a closer eye on me this time because of his size but I think its a hard one to actually tell the actual size of your baby. I was told that they can scan me to guess the size but there is a % error either way.
When any of you ladies have been told the weight of your baby so far how have they measured them and did they say how acurate it was? x xnellie -

gladekjeez 1-2 a week? I wish!!! I'm still having sex but it def slowed down a lot. He is always afraid to hurt the baby. I keep telling him how crazy he is but he is still paranoid about it. Silly boys! I need his donation too my doctor says seamen softens the cervix because it has something in it. I heard that was an old wives tale but then she told me it, so ::shrug::mle -

i hear from alot of people that full term is 37 weeks and since i have to have a c section anyway i asked my doc if i could have it at 38 weeks. his response was no because even though 38 weeks is full term 1% of babies 'taken ' at 38 weeks have premature lungs. so i asked well what if i go in labor at 38 weeks? he said that what happens is the hormone that causes the babies lungs to mature when enough of it is produced it triggers another hormone that causes labor. so if you go into labor it will be likly that the lungs are ready. he also said when you have a c section you are saying ok baby ready or not you are coming out so he waits till 39 weeks if there are no problems to make sure the babys lungs are matured. may be useless info to some of you i just found that interesting and tought i would like to share it. also he said girls lungs are more likely to be mature at 36 weeks than a boys.......sabrinarai -

I know everyone is excited to meet their wee one, and I am too for sure...but isn't it still a little too soon to be wishing them out? I though full term was 37 weeks. A friend of mine had a baby 5 weeks early and the baby had to stay in nicu for 3 weeks. I think I would rather just hold out a few weeks more than have to go home from hospital without my baby...I think that would be heartwrenching...just my thoughts.LacyLou -

Hi all! Had an appointment yesterday and and baby is measuring 6lbs 7oz and 36.5 weeks instead of 34! This is my 3rd and I've never had one this big before! We had already planned to induce a week early on 11/11 but he said we could do it earlier if the baby keeps growing so fast! I'm freaking out! Anyone else have a large baby?!cynsolis -

Good Morning ladies... So last night i had, what i'm almost 100% sure were 2 REAL contractions... not BH. These were different and hurt! :/ It made me really nervous- but they were 30 minutes apart, so i'm not worried about going into labor just yet... Anyone else having any??raechelle -

cant sleep at night and so so ready to have my baby. getting nervous not about the baby or anything just that i am only 1 month away from my c section and hoping the next month goes smoothly. my pregnancy has been good so far just nervous something will go wrong. my baby goes on strike and will not move or wiggle for hours and hours on end. i know she is ok because i use my doppler frequently to check her heartbeat. that thing is a lifesaver if i didnt have it i would be in my doctors ofice everyday requesting to listen to the heart beat. lol mumzy -

claireanna-I had a natural childbirth with my first...actually we didn't even make it to the hospital. I assumed I was in the early stage of labor and kept telling my husband that I was definitely going to need drugs when we got to the hospital and active labor started. I was coping with the pain, but I couldn't imagine it getting worse than it was. Well, after all was said and done and it was clear that that was the active labor stage right before delivery, I didn't think it was so bad. I thought I'd go natural with my second, but because of how quickly the first came I was induced and instructed by my doctor to get the epidural. Getting the epidural placed was one of the most painful experiences of my life (only took four or five tries!). I will not be doing that again! colombianbee -

I also got a flu shot at my last appt 2 days ago! I'm not sure that I've had any side effects but I had a terrible headache like sinus pressure. I'm not sure if it's just coincidence but I am feeling a little better now.
My midwife checked my cervix too and said I am 1cm dialated and she also found that I have a bacteria in there so she prescribed some meds that I have to take for 1 week. She told me not to worry because it's normal for bacteria to grow in there with all our changing hormones.
What I did notice after my exam was that I was spotting (bleeding) but they said it's normal too after you've had your cervix checked. (thank God!)
Other than that everything is going great! Just waiting for my little angel to come!! * * * * Baby Dust 2 all * * * * kayleejane -

claireanna07 - i'm pretty sure the only way to tell if you are dialated it to have your doc get up in there and check lol. i am having weekly u/s to determine cervical length and my u/s tech said she can't even tell if i am dialated from the ultrasounds. kind of a bummer. my doc said she would do her first check to see if i'm dialated at my appt that is scheduled for 35wks 5days.blackliner -
