Dates and numbers:
There are 43 days until your due date on November 25, 2008.
You are 237 days pregnant.
You are 7.8 months pregnant.
You are in your 8th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: February 19, 2008 to May 19, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: May 20, 2008 to September 01, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: September 02, 2008 to November 25, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)
Your baby weighs about 4.4 pounds at this point. The crown-to-rump length of your baby is approximately 12 inches and the total length is around 19.4 inches. Measuring from the top of your uterus to your bellybutton is 5.2 inches. Total weight gain at this point of pregnancy is usually 22 to 28 pounds.

With the exception of crying, your baby is capable of doing everything that a newborn baby will do. Your baby is restricted now inside of the uterus, but still can kick and move. Your baby sleeps a lot of the time, just as newborn babies do. Your baby's eyes move in the manner of REM sleep and researchers believe that babies can dream vividly in uterus. When your baby is awake, she is listening, feeling and learning. There are billions of neurons in the brain that make trillions of connections. Your baby will probably have settled into the birth position by now and your caregiver can most likely tell which way your baby is presenting. If your baby were to be born now, the lungs would probably be strong enough to function properly, but your baby may still need extra care from specially trained doctors and nurses.
During these last few weeks of pregnancy, most women experience an increased urge to urinate. The uterus puts a lot of pressure on the bladder and can send you to the restroom frequently. Your uterus has actually grown 500 times throughout your pregnancy! Red blood cell production catches up with the production of plasma and physiological anemia may begin to fade at this time.
Your baby's eyes open during alert times and close during sleep. The eye color is usually blue, regardless of the permanent color as pigmentation is not fully developed. The final formation of eye pigmentation requires exposure to light and usually happens a few weeks after birth.

Okay, so i keep getting this weird pain...it feels like someone is down in my private area just pulling it apart. When it happens it only last like 1 second...but there is a lot of pain in that 1 second. Today i was at work and it would happen atleast once every 5 mins. Does any one else get that feeling? If so do you know what it is?!Pamela316 -

I don't think there's any pain or anything associated with loosing it...read some loose it as early as now and some dont loose it at all. Maybe someone whose had a baby will have a better answer for utaylor027 -

I'm clueless as to which way my baby is lying, at our last scan he was head down but he kicks or punches all over my belly. I must be the only one who still can't tell the difference between a kick and a punch, I get lumps of limbs sticking out but couldn't say if they are arms or legs, bum or head. I've also never had it where the kicking/punching has become painful or taken my breath away. Still no brackton hicks or leaking if it wasn't for the massive bump I would never no I'm pregnant. Packing my hosptial bag at the end of the month less than 50 days left, I can acutally imagine holding him now. xx Hope everyone is well.pintpot -

My little man weigh 4lbs 7oz at our last scan at 32 weeks which is what a 34 weeker should weigh, I'm just hoping he was having a growth spurt that week next scan in 23 Oct, me and BF find it funny because they were worried he'll be small due to the SUA. xwinter-baby -

jules, when my mom had my brother this was a long time ago, she had to share a room with another woman who had herpies. needless to say my mom freaked out. obviusly you dont want your newborn around that. you just never know anymore. so i would talk to your doctor and the pedi about the risk of not gettign the shot and also the positives about getting it. then make a decision from there. :) leanneandbaba -

i thought that it was routine for your doctor to check the position of the baby at every check up after 28 weeks.. at least thats what they have done with me... plus with me i can tell because the kicks are harder and happen more frequently than my little girls punches which tend to tickle and not hurt at all... has anyone noticed that their baby has started to drop... or am i the only one on that boat for this week.. i'm off to week 34 tomorrow but she's been dropping since the beginning of this week...samsara625 -

I hear ya Shauna - when I was expecting my second I was thinking about the labor. My first labor wasn't bad but I didn't know what to expect and I really think that helped me when delivering my second child. You know the pains and how to deal with them and what to expect. No worries. I am now expecting my third and fourth (yes, twins) and I bit nervous about the c-section but am ready to be deflated. I feel like I am 82 months pregnant! Good Luck!ShaunaDear -

I am starting to get a little nervous. This is my second pregnancy and I know what I am in for this time (giving birth, I mean). First went very well, all natural, I was kinda oblivious to what was going on so I think that helped. Now I'm thinking, oh man, I still have to push her out....aaahhh. It's all coming back to me now. I am hoping this one goes as smoothly as the first time around. Hope everyone is feeling good today (: Oh, has everyone already packed for the hospital? EmmaReed84 -

Hello ladies! I want to first off begin by stating I do not wish to start any heated debates, but I understand this could be a touchy subject. I'm just looking for everyones opinions and possible insight...its about vaccinations. I am choosing to have my daughter vaccinated, but am considering forgoing the Hepatitis B vaccine. They are given that first injection within the first 24 hours of life! I know much about infectious diseases as I am a public health professional, but I don't understand why a newborn baby would be given a Hep B vaccine. The means of transmission are ones that my baby will not be risking. No one but me will be exchanging bodily fluids with her, and I'm pretty sure she will not be sharing any intravenous needles with anyone...its just something I have been thinking about lately. What are some of your thoughts?lcoleman23 -

Seems like my breasts have been leaking for months... Not sure why... but oh well.
Especially if I blow my nose 99% of the time they will leak its weird!
My hands are not falling asleep, but my wrists hurt on the big bone in my wrist.
I've had a lot of sciatic nerve pain and one nurse said well if he is still transverse/breach that would explain it. But my Dr won't do another ultrasound so I have NO CLUE what position he is in and I have NO CLUE how much he might weight.
Next appt is Oct 21st.
I can't wait for November.cblack -

Pintpot-hollie4liam is right. You will leak if you miss a feeding, or even if you just think 'it must be feeding time soon' the milk will rush in. With my last one, the milk would rush in even if i rose my arms up...why? I have NO IDEA. Sometimes babe would get a shot of milk in the face while I was fumbling to find a comfy position for her to latch on.:)mommy2bwithtwins -

I had an ultrasound yesterday and the doctor told me that baby has the umbilical cord wrapped around his/her? neck twice!
They weren't worried about it, plenty of time for it to unravel so I'm not worrying about it either. I go back for my next ultrasound in two weeks. Regarding the kicking, my right rib is killing me. It's actually baby's bum pushing into it. My tummy is feeling sore and tender from all of his or her movements and some times the movements kind of shock me...especially when I feel a kick or poke at my hip or pelvic bones. Owwa. Hey girls!
How is everyone doing? I used to think my baby's kicks were precious and now they are uncomfortable! He is kicking my ribs constantly! anybody else having this problem? If insomnia wasn't bad enough when I finally fall asleep I get a foot in my rib cage! haha I guess I am just tired of being pregnant and grumpy from not sleeping. hollie4liam -

pintpot-this is my first baby but i hav lots of nieces and young cousins! Their mums tell me, u still leak when u breastfeed, like if u haven't fed baby for a couple of hours u might start to leak when babe needs another feed! My mum says that if she left me when i was a baby with my nan, my mum would know when i was cryin 4 milk coz she would start leakin-even if she was in town! Aren't our bodies amazing?! X krs9621 -

well first childbirth class tonight. my hospital didnt even offer it during the summerish months, like people stopped having babies then or something. is this late to be starting? they end nov 13...thats like less than 2 weeks before im due.pintpot -

Oh on the topic of leaking, I had a drip about 2 weeks ago and nothing since then not even the crystal, crusty stuff. But I'm told I won't affect my ability to breastfeed, and I'm saving money on breast pads. Oh speaking of that you mums who have breastfeed before if you do start leaking, once your little one is breastfeeding do you stop leaking and the milk only comes out at feeding time or do you still leak all the time? xpintpot -

Hi, only 12 working days left for me thank god, I've moved into a different office and I get overlooked from behind now so I can't sit on this site all day, gutted, and its so warm the baby hates it in there and hardly moves even when I give him a sugar boost. Speaking of that his moves are not as frequent as they were, i'm still getting enough not to panic, but on sun its like he never stopped and now they feel less frequent (she says as he gives her a reassuring nudge). x zozboz -

Response to MLE concerning natural birth: Hire a birth doula, she is trained to help and support you (and hubby) during the pain and navigate the hospital staff away from 'interventions' like epidural, petocin, etc. Google 'doula' and the name of your town and I'm sure something will pop up. We hired one, it's a little pricey, but i think it will be WELL worth it!! winter-baby -
