Dates and numbers:
There are 127 days until your due date on November 28, 2008.
You are 153 days pregnant.
You are 5 months pregnant.
You are in your 6th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: February 22, 2008 to May 22, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: May 23, 2008 to September 04, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: September 05, 2008 to November 28, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)

Your baby's blood circulation is completely functional. The umbilical cord system continues to grow and thicken as blood travels with considerable force through the body to nurture the baby. The placenta is now almost equal in size to the baby.
Your baby will be getting much larger during the second half of your pregnancy. Your baby's crown-to-rump length at this time is 7.2 inches and she weighs approximately 10.5 ounces. Your growing baby is about the size of a large banana. You should be able to feel your uterus about a half of an inch above your navel. Your weight gain so far will be around 10 to 15 pounds.
As your baby begins to lay down more fat, your weight will also increase. During the next 10 weeks, you will gain about half of the total gain for your entire pregnancy. Strangers can now tell that you are pregnant! You might notice an increase in appetite because you need 500 more calories a day to support your charged up metabolism. It is best to avoid processed foods or foods high in fat, calories or sugar. Some women also get strong cravings for foods. If you notice a craving for something unhealthy, you should contact your doctor. Craving for unusual things is known as pica. Some women crave cigarette ashes, charcoal, beer and other non-food items during this time.
Your baby's different organs and systems are maturing. The fetal digestive system is functioning in a simple way and your baby can swallow amniotic fluid. After your baby swallows the amniotic fluid, she is able to absorb water and sugars from the fluid and then the waste is passed as far as the large bowel. Your baby swallows the amniotic fluid in order to prepare itself for life outside of the womb. Some babies consume as much as 17 ounces of amniotic fluid in a 24-hour period. Your baby already has a high number of red blood cells and the white blood cells are beginning to be produced. Taste buds are being formed on your baby's tongue this week also.
Don't be surprised if your legs and feet become swollen throughout the day. You should try to get off of your feet some throughout the day and prop your legs up. If you notice a substantial amount of swelling, you should contact your healthcare provider for evaluation.

RICHARDSWIFEY, hi ya, i had a scan and asked sonographer about movement and she had the best way of explaining it.....You know when you go to the fair and get a gold fish in a bag??? well the fish has loads of space to move about and sometimes hits the side of the bag....If you imagine that you baby has loads of room too and moves around you only feel it when it hits your uterus wall...but as baby gets bigger and more squashed you will feel more movement.....I thought this was a great way of explaining it....hope it helps (and put a smile on ya face lol) i pictured a fish in my belly when she told me ha ha harenapbe -

Olivia seems to think it's cute to kick her mama's cervix...mama disagrees though :~P
I love it when she moves anywhere else but not on my cervix...which is her new favorite spot!!!

I have been SOO sick to my stomach (diarrhea) the past 6 weeks. My dr said she wasn't worried about it and that I just need to eat more fiber. The diarhea makes me feel nauseous and dizzy, so I need to make sure I'm drinking plenty of water too.helen-p -

Pintpot - I too have bought a number of stuff off ebay. I have bought Next maternity trousers at £2.49 etc. Yes they maybe second hand but still in excellent condition and just wash them before you put them on. Its saved me loads and what someone doesnt want is the other persons gain. Saved me a fortune anyway just for a short period of time xxhelen-p -

Hi, anybody know where to get nice cheap maternity clothes in the UK can you believe Tescos, ASDA and Next have stopped doing maternity wear in the shops. I'm sick of ordering on-line and having to return the clothes cause they don't fit/look right. Its costing me a fortune in postage and packaging. pintpot -

New-mommy-to-be, I'm not sure which country you live in but in the UK we have the choice between private and public. The private hospitals are expensive and you could end up with the same doctor as you would in the NHS hospital. The public run NHS hosptials is where most people give birth this is a free service avail to all UK citizens the care I have recieved so far has not given me any cause for complaint and everyone else I know has had good service from the NHS (you only hear about the bad stories in the press). You can on arrival at the hosptial(depending on your local authority) pay £100 for a private room for the duration of your stay, should any be avail. Hope this helps enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.CuteMommy2B -

New-mommy Where I live a public hospital is a noh noh, especially if can afford otherwise. They treat people badly and their care is low standard, the facilities are old and babies get stolen easier I'm personally going for the private hospital, besides I have a medical cover to cover the costs and yes I will pay some of them in cash but it's totally worth it in my part of the world. In your case though it does not sound too bad.If the two is the only difference I think rather spoil you baby with the money that you will save by going public.new-mommy-to-be -

Ok, this might be an odd questions but I just found out about a couple who were known to be the perfect couple/perfect family - always did great outings with their children then when their children became adults and moved out the parents got divorced because they no longer had anything in common because they focused all of their time and attention on their children and not on their relationships... Any tips from anybody that already has children and has managed to keep their relationship with their partner not 100% focused on the children? Don't get me wrong I want us to have a fabulous Family life but don't want that to become all we are.. does this make sense?? My 2nd totally not related question is are any people using this website from a country where you have to choose between private and public hospitals for your delivery? Do you think it's worth the extra 3000.00 (well that's what it is here) to get to use a private hospital which pretty ensures you get your own room but that's about the only difference - and maybe better food.. I can't decide if it's worth it... Any thoughts are greatly appreciated :) Hope everyone is feeling well!HaleyD -

EmmaJD, I did consider it but as you say £130 is a lot to pay, apparantly its cheaper the closer to London you get but then there's the cost of travelling to get there. We decided to wait until the baby is born maybe for the next one they'll be cheaper.samsara625 -

lulu31, to be honest i am sure most women feel like 'oh but i wanted the other one' its natural, it doesn't mean your horrible, i found out i am having another biy, a girl would have been nice, but it true what they say, as long as baby is healthy you wont really be bothered what the sex is....Congratulations by the waylulu31 -

I'm 21 wks & 3 days. My last 2 u/s my ob thinks it's a girl. 'she thinks' I do think it's a girl because a couple of women have mentioned since the beginning of my pregnancy that it's a girl. I wanted a boy. I feel bad sometimes because I keep on thinking I wanted a boy. Is there someone out there that was told the same thing and ended up having a boy?? Does anyone know if gatorade is unhealthy to drink?sexyp3473 -

Hi everyone! I enter 21 weeks tomorrow and I was wondering if anyone had sharp pains (I call them crotch pains...hee hee) that start in your crotch area and go all the way up your behind. They are most painful when I walk and sometimes I have to stop in my tracks because I will fall down if I take another step. I am also suffering from hemerrhoids (lovely) and I wonder if this is a side effect of them or something completely different. Any help/advice would be appreciated!!EmmaReed84 -

Do you all find that once you get to one milestone you always seem to find another! my first one was 12 weeks like most people then the big ultrasound and now i will feel better when i get to 24 weeks because this is when the baby is deamed viable! Is every one else like this i suppose we all are in some way are we not?? No matter how much we are all enjoying it there always seems to be another milestone when we will feel just that little bit less anxious!!!MDL -
