Dates and numbers:
There are 49 days until your due date on November 30, 2008.
You are 231 days pregnant.
You are 7.6 months pregnant.
You are in your 8th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: February 24, 2008 to May 24, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: May 25, 2008 to September 06, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: September 07, 2008 to November 30, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)
By week 32, your baby weighs nearly 4 pounds! The crown-to-rump length of your baby is approximately 11.7 inches and the total length is about 18.9 inches. Your uterus is now 5 inches above your bellybutton. Some doctors do not see their patients every other week until now. So, if you were going to the doctor monthly, you may begin going once every other week now.
Sleeping boy. the baby sleeps 90-95% of the day, and sometimes experiences REM sleep, an indication of dreaming.
Now that your baby has grown so long and your uterus is higher, you might notice a new discomfort. Your baby is probably head-down and may occasionally stretch out and kick you in the ribs. The pressure on your rib cage can make you sore, especially if one of your baby's feet becomes caught. You can prevent this by sitting up straight as much as possible. Because your baby's demands for vitamins and minerals are higher than ever right now, you should continue to take your parental vitamins for the entire pregnancy.
This week your baby's movements will peak. You should continue to monitor the fetal movements daily and address any concerns with your caregiver. The wrinkles in your baby's face are disappearing and fat is still being deposited throughout the baby's body.
The body growth slows down from now on.
Because of the lack of space in the uterus, the legs are drawn up in what is known as the fetal position.
As a preparation for
breastfeeding, your baby has learned to root for the breast. The baby will turn its head if touched on the cheek and open its mouth if the bottom lip is tickled. By this time the baby can also suck and swallow in a coordinated way.

Ladykife-I have been told that I am measuring over as well. 5 wks ago I was measuring 37 weeks, my last appointment, which was last week, he didnt measure instead he did an ultra sound telling me the baby was 5lbs (what!!!). I have been having lots of pain, hard to walk and hard to sleep. If this little girl is already 5lbs she is almost the size my oldest was at full term which was 5 bls 4 oz. So hang in there you are not alone. ladykife -

I feel pretty lucky. I'm a teacher and my district currently provides FREE insurance to their employees (if you add family members it's no longer free). My maternity insurance rocks. When I called to check on it I was told that all visits and necessary labwork (including ultrasounds) were covered 100% as long as it's deemed medically necessary. Then the hospital stay is covered 80%, so my total out of pocket is a ONE TIME $25 copay and whatever is left over from the hospital stay. All this and I pay no premiums. Baby is covered under my insurance for 31 days after birth, then I'll have to add him (which will make insurance go from $0/month up to $345/month). Still, it's been nice while it's free!In other news, tomorrow I'm off to week 33! Crazy stuff! Next Saturday is the baby shower and I'm PRAYING that this kid comes a couple weeks early (I do NOT want to be induced!). Hope everyone has a great weekend!

As far as the whole insurance thing.... thank god for medicaid. otherwise i probably wouldnt have been able to go to a dr or anything. and if it werent for the medicaid i wouldnt have the money for the high risk dr im seeing and i damn sure wouldnt have enough for my medicaitions which are $1400+ a month. i looked at how much they have charged (the specialist i go to) and they have charged medicaid 7k i asked how much their dr visits were they said $300 for an office visit and up to $1000 for u/s which have been every month and now are going to be every 2 weeks. thats not including my ob/gyn or my other dr. i think the ob/gyn after everything is said and done after the baby is born is like 2k. thank god the baby will be able to get on medicaid right away otherwise i wouldnt be able to afford all of her appts although i think i would find a way to get her to one. bannahsmommy -

I know that sugar does not offer anything to my baby but that is all I can eat! I have gained only 8 pounds so far and my blood sugar tests was actually lower than normal. That means that my body has huge ammounts of insuline which is good and metabolizes sugar very quickly! But I suppose that I can make an effort for the shake of my little baby!!!luckywhite -
17.7 hours ago
at 4.5weeks i was in hospital and my pregnancy was confirmed and at that point i was told no sugar allowed by the doctor. my previous baby was 10lbs. im only a little person and it wasnt easy so i pretty much have done what im told. all the sugar you eat gets laid down as fat on you and your baby which is not healthy!!

kristy2- I had my scan too and the doctor said my baby weights 2.3 kilos which takes me two weeks ahead with my pregnancy! The normal weight for this week should be 1.9-2 kilos! He asked me to stop eating sugar otherwise I will have a very big baby!!! Can you believe this? Did your doctor tell you that you might give birth earlier?new-mommy-to-be -

Kate, no hospital here will turn you away! They'll just put you in debt for the rest of your life....unless you have insurance! However, there are gov't aid to help with pregnancies and babies if you fit in the pay bracket and qualify. For example, some people make too much money to get gov't help. It sucks! The economy sucks!katechris -

I take it in America their is no free healthcare for a pregnant woman?. In Australia it is all very different. I honestly do not know how i would cope if I had to pay for everything myself. The Government also at the moment gives you 5 gran when your bub is born to help you along. The only thing I have had to pay for is my 4 d ultrasound. I attend a clinic at the hospital which is totally covered so their is no outlay of the mighty dollar.I guess if I wanted to go private , I would pay through the nose and be left out of pocket. I have heard nin America if you don't have health insurance and you have say a asthma attack a hospital will turn you away without treating you is this true?Tmamma -

My hubby, daughter and I went to the food court in the mall tonight and I had an Auntie Annie's Pretzel AND Sweet and Sour Chiken! What the heck? By hubby thought I was nuts!!
My hubby get 2 weeks paid of when the baby comes. WE are actually looking to move to a different area of our state to another job--but now that I am so far along and he gets that time off paid--we are waiting on the job search until the new year. How can you pass up 2 free weeks off? Plus, I don't want ot have to start an insurance deductable over again this year! Best to change jobs with the new year! Is is just me-or is medical bills the crappiest? We have GREAT insurance and still are in debt because of medical crap. uggg. I hate this economy. elaine3181 -

Andante, my significant other went as far as saying he wants to take my baby home from the hospital if for whatever reason I had to stay in for a few days after the birth!! I told him unless he managed to grow breasts in the next couple of months it wasn't an option. He's taking 6 weeks off after too.......I get 6 months mat leave though so I'll get baby to myself for some time before returning to work. Wanting to spend so much time with me and baby can be a bit overwhelming, and weirdly a little undermining esp as he's SO much better at all things domestic than me, but all in all I think its sweet that he wants to be so involved. I'd rather this way around that some of my friend's partners who seem to take little or no interest whatsoever xxxcblack -

Thanks for your opinions about my comment last night. Many people told me that I should be happy that he wants to spend so much time off work with us. What I failed to mention is that we work opposite shifts - even when he's working he will still spend half the day alone with the baby (and I get the baby for the other half of the day). He'll have plenty of time to bond. I'm afraid he'll either a) get jealous that I'm spending so much time with the baby or b) become a baby hog and I'll never get time alone to bond. I guess that's a bridge to cross when we get there. I'm done with that whole thing. I told him to take off as much time as he wants. I'm anticipating some frustration on my part during those postpartum weeks and it'll be nice to have support. Anyway, thanks again for all your comments!samsara625 -
