Dates and numbers:
There are 49 days until your due date on December 01, 2008.
You are 231 days pregnant.
You are 7.6 months pregnant.
You are in your 8th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: February 25, 2008 to May 25, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: May 26, 2008 to September 07, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: September 08, 2008 to December 01, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)
By week 32, your baby weighs nearly 4 pounds! The crown-to-rump length of your baby is approximately 11.7 inches and the total length is about 18.9 inches. Your uterus is now 5 inches above your bellybutton. Some doctors do not see their patients every other week until now. So, if you were going to the doctor monthly, you may begin going once every other week now.
Sleeping boy. the baby sleeps 90-95% of the day, and sometimes experiences REM sleep, an indication of dreaming.
Now that your baby has grown so long and your uterus is higher, you might notice a new discomfort. Your baby is probably head-down and may occasionally stretch out and kick you in the ribs. The pressure on your rib cage can make you sore, especially if one of your baby's feet becomes caught. You can prevent this by sitting up straight as much as possible. Because your baby's demands for vitamins and minerals are higher than ever right now, you should continue to take your parental vitamins for the entire pregnancy.
This week your baby's movements will peak. You should continue to monitor the fetal movements daily and address any concerns with your caregiver. The wrinkles in your baby's face are disappearing and fat is still being deposited throughout the baby's body.
The body growth slows down from now on.
Because of the lack of space in the uterus, the legs are drawn up in what is known as the fetal position.
As a preparation for
breastfeeding, your baby has learned to root for the breast. The baby will turn its head if touched on the cheek and open its mouth if the bottom lip is tickled. By this time the baby can also suck and swallow in a coordinated way.

Ok.. I am in need of some help. I go to a small church and am friends with almost everyone and this past week 1 of these people that I know (granted we're not close friends but it's a small church and we have dinners together occassionally), but anyway she gave birth - and she named her son the name we had picked out for a boy. No one knew the name we had picked out and now we don't know if we should still use it or start the tedious horrible process of picking out a new name for if we have a boy...... We have had 1 boys name and 1 girls name picked since we found out we were pregnant. Oye I hope this is a girl now...... Any thoughts??sharonalysse -

The taste messes with my stomache as well, heartburn has been a killer for me. Can't wait to go back on my heartburn and stomach meds. Anyways off to take a shower and relax with my hubby. Tmamma, I hear you about medical debt. My hubby is a nurse, and is taking 19 days off for the baby. A lot of nurses are complaining about it at work because he was supposed to work Christmas and now one of them will have to and the rest will have to take his shifts. It's really sexist, because they would take maternity leave, so why can't he take leave to help me out? The director of nursing told him not to worry about it, but he works with some women who like to push a lot of their work off on him because he's so willing to help out, and they like to complain if he is so busy that he doesn't have time to help them. A lot of the nurses where he works backstab him. He's the type to feel guilty, so it did bother him at first, but now he seems over it. Deborah Kurczek -

I have noticed in the last two weeks , My Charlotte aka baby seems to have be extremely aware of the beyond( outhere). And the other day because we are moving we were taping up boxes and the noise from the tape she absolutely hated and Ithink she flexed and wow it hurt me. Ihad to ask mypartner to stop till I had moved. If she hears my partners voice i have noticed she will kick me quite hard as if to say Daddy I am here!!!, and whenever he puts his hand on my belly she seems to wriggle right over and pushes against it. He actually heard her heartbeat by listening with his ear on my belly last night, and boy did he smile brightly after that. I love these quiet moments where i watch chris beam and get excited about impending fatherhood. He is so in love with Charlotte already , I can only imagine when she is born and the smile will radiate from Australia to America. Take care all of you, today i move.EmmaReed84 -

at 32wks 3days my baby was 4lb 6oz. I have had a crap pregnancy and kept saying i cant wait to get baby out. Now for the next two weeks ive had severe BH, and a show and my babys head is engaged, ive been told baby seems to want to come early and if i do go into labour i may be given meds and bedrest, also if baby is here before 34weeks then it WILL have to stay in NICU there is a very slim chance that after 34 weeks may not....So please dont wish your babies out yet lol. I feel so bad now cos im scared baby will make an early arrival and be in hosp alone :-(kristy2 -

Anyone ever passed a kidney stone? It is literally worse than any of the labor pains EVER with my first child.I so thought I was dying. It was so terrible that I just got out of the hospital last night (in for 2 days), but I actually passed the huuuuge thing. It was about the size of a pencil eraser, with a hook-like thing on one end.I hope no one ever has to experience that.It is absolutely hell!!But now that I gave birth to that stupid thing, I feel a lot better, just a sore side from where it hung out for a while.Has anyone else had any kidney or bladder troubles during pregnancy, but no other time?sdgirljen -

Ladykife-I have been told that I am measuring over as well. 5 wks ago I was measuring 37 weeks, my last appointment, which was last week, he didnt measure instead he did an ultra sound telling me the baby was 5lbs (what!!!). I have been having lots of pain, hard to walk and hard to sleep. If this little girl is already 5lbs she is almost the size my oldest was at full term which was 5 bls 4 oz. So hang in there you are not alone. ladykife -

4 weeks ago my doctor told me that I measured at 38 weeks for my fundal height (which is considered full term)...yesterday I had another appointment and my doctor told me that I am now measuring at 41 weeks!!?? he said that I am having a very large baby over 9 lbs OMG! and that explains why I'm having so much discomfort (I've been having major groin pains for the past 3 weeks whenever I walk or turn over in bed..sorry if TMI) has anyone else been told that they are full term based on their fundal height measurement?

I feel pretty lucky. I'm a teacher and my district currently provides FREE insurance to their employees (if you add family members it's no longer free). My maternity insurance rocks. When I called to check on it I was told that all visits and necessary labwork (including ultrasounds) were covered 100% as long as it's deemed medically necessary. Then the hospital stay is covered 80%, so my total out of pocket is a ONE TIME $25 copay and whatever is left over from the hospital stay. All this and I pay no premiums. Baby is covered under my insurance for 31 days after birth, then I'll have to add him (which will make insurance go from $0/month up to $345/month). Still, it's been nice while it's free!In other news, tomorrow I'm off to week 33! Crazy stuff! Next Saturday is the baby shower and I'm PRAYING that this kid comes a couple weeks early (I do NOT want to be induced!). Hope everyone has a great weekend!

As far as the whole insurance thing.... thank god for medicaid. otherwise i probably wouldnt have been able to go to a dr or anything. and if it werent for the medicaid i wouldnt have the money for the high risk dr im seeing and i damn sure wouldnt have enough for my medicaitions which are $1400+ a month. i looked at how much they have charged (the specialist i go to) and they have charged medicaid 7k i asked how much their dr visits were they said $300 for an office visit and up to $1000 for u/s which have been every month and now are going to be every 2 weeks. thats not including my ob/gyn or my other dr. i think the ob/gyn after everything is said and done after the baby is born is like 2k. thank god the baby will be able to get on medicaid right away otherwise i wouldnt be able to afford all of her appts although i think i would find a way to get her to one. bannahsmommy -

I know that sugar does not offer anything to my baby but that is all I can eat! I have gained only 8 pounds so far and my blood sugar tests was actually lower than normal. That means that my body has huge ammounts of insuline which is good and metabolizes sugar very quickly! But I suppose that I can make an effort for the shake of my little baby!!!luckywhite -

at 4.5weeks i was in hospital and my pregnancy was confirmed and at that point i was told no sugar allowed by the doctor. my previous baby was 10lbs. im only a little person and it wasnt easy so i pretty much have done what im told. all the sugar you eat gets laid down as fat on you and your baby which is not healthy!!

kristy2- I had my scan too and the doctor said my baby weights 2.3 kilos which takes me two weeks ahead with my pregnancy! The normal weight for this week should be 1.9-2 kilos! He asked me to stop eating sugar otherwise I will have a very big baby!!! Can you believe this? Did your doctor tell you that you might give birth earlier?new-mommy-to-be -

Kate, no hospital here will turn you away! They'll just put you in debt for the rest of your life....unless you have insurance! However, there are gov't aid to help with pregnancies and babies if you fit in the pay bracket and qualify. For example, some people make too much money to get gov't help. It sucks! The economy sucks!
