Born & Birth stories

Dates and numbers:
There are 17 days until your due date on December 09, 2008.
You are 263 days pregnant.
You are 8.6 months pregnant.
You are in your 9th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: March 04, 2008 to June 02, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: June 03, 2008 to September 15, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: September 16, 2008 to December 09, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)

You are considered full-term now and your baby's final touches are being made. The crown-to-rump length of your baby is now 14 inches and the total length is around 21 inches. Your baby weighs approximately 6.5 pounds. Your uterus may be measuring about the same as it has been and is probably about 6.5 inches from the top of your bellybutton.

This week your baby should engage into your pelvis. If this is not your first pregnancy, it may happen later. When your baby engages, his head drops down into your pelvis and you might feel a slight sensation called `lightening` as the pressure on your ribs eases. As your baby drops into the final position for delivery, you may experience a buzzing feeling and shooting pains in your groin and leg. Normally, you will be able to breathe and eat easier. However, your uterus pushes down harder on your bladder and you will have an increased urge to urinate more frequently. Even if your baby engages now, you still possibly feel his feet in your breastbone around week 40.

Your baby is now fully mature and ready to be born. However, your baby is still growing and developing every day. Fat is still being laid down at a rate of a half ounce a day. If this is your first pregnancy, you can expect to deliver closer to 40 weeks or shortly thereafter. If this is not your first baby, you might go earlier than 40 weeks! Make sure that your bags are packed for the hospital and remember to preregister for admission.

Your doctor may begin doing weekly pelvic exams to evaluate your cervical changes and progression. Your healthcare provider will make sure that you are not leaking amniotic fluid and will also examine your cervix to check for effacement and dilation. Before labor, your cervix is thick and 0% effaced. During labor your cervix thins out and right before delivery it will become very soft and 100% effaced.

Research shows your baby can be affected by stress hormones. Make time to relax, to have fun, and to rest.

Your baby has learned to coordinate sucking, swallowing and breathing so it can do all three when breastfeeding after birth. Babies practice shallow breathing before birth, using amniotic fluid.

Almost there! Did you know that we also have a month by month calendar for babies? You can find it in the menu under `Babies`: Month by month

Deb- last night in the middle of the drama with my sister she basically said she had the 'right' to be there. Sounds a bit like your dad. Do you have a way to contact him yourself and just flat out say you are not ready for visitors. A c-section is major business and you need recovery time physically and an emotional drain right now could lead to higher infection risk. I don't know what your husband's relationship with your dad is like but maybe he could talk to him. It pretty much ended up requiring that for us last night. He had to 'play the bad guy' and tell my sister no. Maybe your husband could do this? Sometimes men hear other men a lot bettter

Okay ladies I asked you all a few days ago if anyone was up to try a challenge and I had no response from anyone but know you have to check out this website and I'm eating for lunch today. Wish me luck http://www.scalinis.com/eggplant_parmigiana_babies.htm

Oh, DK--I think we have the same stupid father (And I mean, I really wouldn't even be surprised if I learned that were the case.) Although, mine never would have asked anyone for their opinion about which day is best! No sense relying on auntie. This guy wont respect boundaries that aren't spelled out with the imprint of a shoe on his head, so why put someone else in the position of relaying that you mean business? 2 ways to go: 1) Ignore it, since he never asked you, and when he shows up, turn him away: 'We are not prepared for company right now, but we'd like to see you when DK is feeling better, so let's call you in a few weeks and make plans. 2) Save him the trip and humiliation and call him to say the very same thing. You can set a time when your 7 y.o. (and half brother) is in school. Make it difficult for them once or twice and they'll learn to follow your lead.

Here's the situation. My father and I are not close. This past March is the last time I spoke with him to tell him I was pregnant. He hasn't called me since then to see how I was doing. He never calls or sees my older daughter either, yet he only lives 45 minutes away. Well, yesterday, my aunt called and told me my father announced 'We are going up to see the baby this weekend; which day do they prefer?' 'We' means himself and my half-brother Nick, who, at 15 years old, has some behavioral issues and is extremely hyperactive. I told my aunt that I didn't want them here, especially my half brother, who chases my daughter and tickles her inappropriately, which my father has to watch for everytime my brother has visited in the past. He runs through our house of antiques and has to touch everything and go through things. I told my aunt we didn't want any visitors right now, because with my post-operative recovery, I don't need stress. My husband doesn't feel like chasing my brother around trying to get him to listen while my father, who doesn't even acknowledge my 7 year old, holds my newborn. My daughter is scared of my brother, and has told me she doesn't want to be alone with him. My aunt won't tell them anything I relay to her, and I've made it clear to her I don't want either one of them up to visit. I don't know what to say to make them understand this! Any suggestions? My dad is the type to just pop up at the door thinking only of himself and his rights, regardless of what I tell him. Why should he see the new baby when my 7 year old barely remembers who he is, that's how much contact he's had with her? It will be the same with the new baby, I'm sure.

Well I went to the doctor earlier today and let me tell you I know more about everyone elses pregnancy than I know about my own. Check up consisted of BP check, Measuring, and HR. thats it. Nothing else. NO violation. WOW how things are so different here. Im depressed.

10selena10 - 8.3 hours ago

mstorres - 9.8 hours ago
I'm trying nipple stimulation, and I'm getting some contractions, my fingers are tired, and my nipples hurt. lmao

rosiejrz143 - 9.8 hours ago
Thanks, def don't want to do that again! Ewwwwwwwww

mstorres - 9.8 hours ago
Rosie, I vomit if I eat way too much, or the food just didn't go we in my stomach. I stop vomitting around 5 months and I started again recently. After I eat anyting I MUST stay still, I cannot lay down after a meal, it will make me vomit everything. After u eat, sit down, don't lay

rosiejrz143 - 10 hours ago
OK ladies, I'm back because I want to know something, I just puked my guts out. I have no idea why? I've had very little to eat the past few days, direhrea, and just kinda lazy. I have been pregnant 3 times before and never threw up at the end of pregnancy, well my last one I did while I was in the hospital but that was because of the morphin they gave me to ease the pain of passing a kidney stone. Has anyone else thrown up? BTW I freaking hate HATE HATE to throw up.

Brandi J. - 10.2 hours ago
Alot of women have no problem with being induced though. I know for some, that is all that they know. And I know quite a few women who have only had c-sections and they wouldn't have it any other way, but it is the same for me, I haven't ever had a c-section so the thought of one scares me, well it is the same for them. We all fear the unknown I guess. I hear that c-sections aren't that bad though. I'm still very afraid of getting one though..lol!

Brandi J. - 10.2 hours ago
mstorres: I feel the same way! I actually have in my birthing plan that I do not want pitocin, my doctor has agreed to it and he signed my plan today. I have only been induced 1 time and I agree the contractions were much worse!

rosiejrz143 - 10.3 hours ago
well ladies, I'm off to bed, busy day tomorrow! Wishing you all labor dust! Good nite

bobeare1 - 10.3 hours ago
I'm just getting to the uncompy all the time point. Its so hard to roll in bed or even get up. Putting shoes on was an adventure til I got my moms old crocks out. And since being off of work I've gained weight to the point of sweats are about it right now. The prego pants are too tight!!! Guess I need to go visit work and walk around bugging everyone heheheh

mstorres - 10.3 hours ago
Yey!!! Congrats on ur new baby!!!! Why do women let them give pitocin, I will refuse it. It makes the contractions worst!!! Everyone wants C-sections and want to be induced. What ever happen to natural birth. I was induce with my first and I was a horrible labor, I don't recommend it.

rosiejrz143 - 10.3 hours ago
It's weird, but I wished we all lived closer so that we could go see one another once we have these babies. This is by far the best support group I've ever had and I think about all you ladies on here all the time.

rosiejrz143 - 10.3 hours ago
I have about 80% packed, but I keep switching oufits...lol. I don't know what I want him to wear. But I did but the cutest winter coast because it IS going to be FREEZING when I bring him home. All my other babies were summer babies, so a onsie was fine. But I made sure that I have my boob pads, good nursing bra, slippers, pajamas, underwear a few pairs, hair brush, shampoo and conditioner, mousee, hairspray, lotion, lanolin for my boobs for nursing, Camera and video recorder, and I think that's about it. Yet, I still feel like I'm missing something...lol

bobeare1 - 10.4 hours ago
yep. after the last 'scare' bf begged me to get it done. hehehe I got one for him too

Brandi J. - 10.4 hours ago
bobeare: don't give up too quickly, that is just a guess. Truthfully, the doctor cannot tell you when your baby will come. I have always gone into labor with little or no change to my cervix, and the latest I have ever delivered is 39 weeks (I was induced with her), the other 3 came in the 38th week on their own. So there is a possibility that your little one will come before your due date, and it could come after, but don't let your doctor discourage you, it is just a guess on their part! God Bless.

mstorres - 10.4 hours ago
Glad to hear ur prepaired. Hey do u have ur hospital bag ready?

bobeare1 - 10.4 hours ago
still at 1cm and 80%. Thats the 3rd week in a row. Now the one doc thinks I'm gonna go OVER by a week or two. Guess Wyatt is really going to be a Christmas baby after all!!! Just when I was starting to count down the days. I like being pregnate yet I don't. I miss being able to breath, eat, move/bend, and not having to pee every hour. He's worth it but I still miss it hehehe.

rosiejrz143 - 10.5 hours ago

Judges are there for a pay check. They dont realize that they hold our livlihood in their hands when it comes to our children!

rosiejrz143 - 10.6 hours ago
Oh I know, plus I have everything document, down from his filth he blasted about me online....awful...to every text and I quote' You are not human being and the biggest mistake of my life, I wish I never ever met you'. To his gambling records of him gambling in our infant son's name at the time! All documented!

nannersmama - 10.6 hours ago
lol. its so funny yall are talking about judges.....I tried to get a restraining order against my mom today, and the judge denied it. Seriously, she even followed us out of the courthouse screaming at us. How could he have not approved it? Everyones been calling to see how it went, and when I tell them it was denied they're all like 'are you serious? how could he deny it?'

mstorres - 10.7 hours ago
What is wrong with judges these days I think will win trial, its too much back and forth for a small baby. Can't he just settle for weekends, that motherf*cker just wants to drive u nuts. And his mother is a bitch for supporting her stupid son. I hate mother InlAWs, they need to learn to stay out of everything. Ohhh and wow, u have so ma goals, u have a plan and thatd great, tell ur lawyer it will make u look good in court, make sure the jugde knows ur whole story !!!!

rosiejrz143 - 11 hours ago
Oh yeah and who got a ticket the other day on here, well guess what I got 2 days ago, a damn ticket for not stopping all the way at a stop sign when I was on my way to drop the kids off at school. $86! I know doesn't seem like a lot, but when you don't get any child support, it's alot! Damn my luck this year huh...I'm praying 2009 does me right. And I've been reading this book that just so happened to fall into my lap about losing faith with God, which is where I have been at these past few months. Pretty good. I think the boys and I may just try a new church on Sunday. I guess I just lost my faith when the court allowed my son to be taken from me full time. BUT my revenge...I'm almost done with my criminal justice degree and I have been planning on going into law school for years now, but I was going to go into criminal law as a prosecutor, now, I'm all about family law and helping women like me who got the shaft. I'm even starting a scholarship fund for young single mothers who come from sever hardships like myself, the scholarship will include an internship, going to school and providing funds for a home, day care and other needs to be able to fuction. I feel really passionate about it and I believe that no woman should ever go through what I'm going through.

beautifulbabygirl - 11 hours ago
Lil-that makes sense..thanks!

rosiejrz143 - 11.1 hours ago
NO the visitation schedule is a crazy unheard of schedule and goes like this. For example, this week Mon and Tues-me. Wed and Thur- Dad. Friday Sat Sun- ME Then next week Mon Tues-Dad. Wed-Thurs-ME and Friday Sat Sun-Dad. And then goes back to the first week. Unheard of I know and they did this when he was 10 months old and they only did this because he 'LIED' to the judge and said he wasn't working and I was a stay at home mother. So naturally when I found out he lied on the record, I pulled the transcripts and took him back to court within 2 weeks and due to shitty representation and a judge who literally was just placed on the bench brand spanking new to family law, said and I quote 'Well, I don't want to mess with the visitation schedule right now, let's just wait till trial'. Which is in Feb!!! So while my ex works, he sees our son maybe 1 day a week, his MAMA gets my son while I stay at home. So basically if you look at the schedule, one week I get my son for 5 days, and then the next week I only get him for 2! Breaks my heart everyday this has happened, especially being pregnant. And the older brother were NEVER EVER separated from their baby brother and the court or should I say that judge didn't even care or take it into consideration. Now I do have a great attorney but it's all up to the trial judge, which WON'T be the ass I had before.

mstorres - 11.3 hours ago
So ur 15 month old lives with his dad?? I can't even be 2 days without my 2 year old, I end up missing her like crazy. Sounds like ur going to have a fun weekend. My weekend will be boring like usual, TV and more TV.

rosiejrz143 - 11.7 hours ago
Boys are good, they helped me clean the house today. And we got hair cuts because I wanted them to look nice for Thanksgiving and who knows when I'll have this baby. This weekend is my weekend with my 15 month old so we are going to watch Wall E, do an arts and craft project for thanksgiving and try and relax! Thank you for asking Tores! I was going into preterm labor too at 31 weeks and they put me on bed rest and I guess it worked too good because other than normal aches and pains and a few BH, I got nothing! Funny how when we don't want baby to come, all these things go crazy and then when it's time for baby, we get nada, zilch, squat! lol

lil-mish - 11.9 hours ago
beautifulbabygirl, I, too, have experienced the pinching thing in my v-jay-jay. Someone told me it is the baby dropping to get into delivery position?

nannersmama - 12.1 hours ago
hey,,,,,quick ?....I was at the dr on tues, and she stripped me. She said to expect light spotting. I've gotten brown stuff. But since last night, I've been getting oooey-gooey mucus stuff that has blood in it....bright red. I know it's not my plug, that's been gone for over a month... Any ideas what it could be/mean???? I never got this with #1, and I was stripped A LOT with her. I'm reposting this, cause I didn't get any answers....

mstorres - 12.1 hours ago

mariettap - 12.8 hours ago
Good for you for saying so! Yes, she is dealing with an illness of her own. But she is not the only one who ever needed a little support. Those who intend to serve in a supportive role need to make arrangements for their other duties (daughter?) to be covered so they can really be there for you as promised.

terrilms - 12.9 hours ago
Never really left any msgs before but so excited. Went to the doctors today and found out Im 2cm dialated and 90% effaced. Doctor told me it could be any day now!! I know it still could be weeks but I'm having high hopes it will be soon!!

preggogeologist - 13 hours ago
So I was waiting for my family to start making drama and here it comes. My younger sister has severe mental health issues that usually result in her being hospitalized for short stays about once every two months. Where we live she would require a 45 minute drive to receive emergency treatment and she is 5 hours from her doctor. So tonight I told her I would rather she not be here for this because to be honest I need my parents this day. In particular my mom and my husband is counting on my dad for support. Needless to say this didn't go over well and now I am worried I will be the next reason for her to cut herself or take too many pills or whatever she chooses to do. I'm not unsympathetic to her illness but she has to understand I can't risk her illness interupting this moment. I feel bad but see no alternative. This is my first child and I need my mom and dad for once.

rosiejrz143 - 13.1 hours ago
