Dates and numbers:
There are 60 days until your due date on December 12, 2008.
You are 220 days pregnant.
You are 7.2 months pregnant.
You are in your 8th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: March 07, 2008 to June 05, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: June 06, 2008 to September 18, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: September 19, 2008 to December 12, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)

Your baby is continuing to grow each week that you remain pregnant. Your baby's crown-to-rump length is nearly 11.2 inches and total length is approximately 18 inches. Your baby weighs approximately 3.5 pounds at this point. Your uterus is about 4.4 inches above your bellybutton and continues to get larger. An average weight gain at this point is between 21 and 27 pounds. The weight that you gain is made up of your baby, placenta, blood supply, uterus, breasts, fat, water storage and amniotic fluid.
Because the ligaments and muscles supporting the small of your back relax and loosen in order to get ready for childbirth, your back may be aching from now on. There is usually nothing that can be done to prevent backaches, only to make them more comfortable. Many women get heartburn during these last few weeks of pregnancy because the oversized uterus leaves less room for the stomach and the contents within the stomach. Eating smaller, more frequent meals can help relieve the discomforts of heartburn.
This week marks an incredible milestone in your baby's lung development. Before now, the air sacs and branches in your baby's lungs were present but not functional. The lungs were not able to inflate properly. However, now there is surfactant being produced in your baby's lungs. Surfactant prevents your baby's lungs from collapsing outside of the uterus and the baby is able to take in air and breathe properly. The fetal ear is almost completely developed both inside and out. Your baby can hear your voice and other familiar sounds that she will recognize after birth. Your baby is putting on white fat under the skin and the skin's color is pink instead of red at this point. Your baby's fingernails have grown to the end of her fingers and she may scratch herself while she is in the womb.

Thanks you guys, I know but I still can't help it when I think about it too much. I try to just stay educated and remember that I'm not the 1st woman to do this. :) I know I'll make it it's just scary venturing into the unknown!nannersmama -

sorry guys, I had to shower. lol. So, I've been reviewing answers, and evaluating the sit. It hasn't happened since, but I will be wearing a liner for the forseeable, so I can check color, etc. JIC. We live over an hour from the hospital, and we're military, so they really don't want to see you unless you're sure. My pants didn't get hard, so that's a good sign. I'll call my dr on mon. Thx for the input, and all the info!!! I wish pharmacies would sell tests for this....I'm thinking plenty of preggers do this! lolGbaby3 -

fern test determines if any fluid is amniotic (sp) amniotic fluid makes a pattern that resembles a fern pattern on a glass slide. Cool huh!!drhelmer -

Liz- I remember that about my breaking too!! It gushed with every contraction. With my daughter I went in after it broke and the nurse didn't believe it. She said 'are you sure you just didn't have sex?' little did she know that I had the night before... But my water had broke too. She was sure I wasn't in labor... Then the dr came in and told her that I was at 3 cm and the fern test was positive. She shut up after that.Liz3 -

Just let them know up front that you may want the epi afterall!!!drhelmer- my water broke with my son and the ride to the hospital was horrible. I was gushing in the car with every contraction. when it dried it was extremely hard and we had to have the car detailed.. We didnt have time to grab anything for me to sit on..

Crystal- Dont worry most of us have gone through labor before and were preggers again.... So its obviously worth it and it didn't bother us to the point where we wouldn't do it again!! drhelmer -

Nanners- I was told by a frend that her water did smell sweet and also that the clothing that got wet dried very hard so her pants were ruined.
I had an epidural w/ my first son, I was induced b/c of low fluid levels. After 16 hours of non stop pain (my contractions never stopped,no time inbetween, it was like a 16 hour long contraction that just got more and more intense) I finally decided to have an epdural. The epidural relaxed me some and actually helped my labor progress more quickly Crystal907 -

I had back labor, too. Even with the epi, my back killed me. I even puked during labor from the pain. When it was time to start pushing, this evil nurse jumped on my stomach and my baby shot out super fast. I tore extremely bad. I even had to have stitched on parts of my va-jay jay. That nurse was lucky my legs were numb, because I was ready to jump off the table and cause her some extreme pain!
I don't know why she did it. We were about 15 minutes from shift change, so I'm guessing she just wanted to get out of work on time.
crystal - you're probably right. It's probably just growing pains. they are growing more rapidly during these last weeks.Crystal907 -

Eeks. Liz, why do babies face down cause so much more pain?Liz3 -
8.3 hours ago
well I thought I had been thru enough physical accidents in my life that I cld go natural but one thing I MUST add is both my babies were face down so I had ALL BACK LABOR!! that may be the difference as to why I hurt so much more than other women. But I dont care if this baby is face up or down they better drug me.. LOL... Just dont completely rule out assistance with an epi.. I wanted to enjoy the birthing moment. You can ask Ray he will tell you, I was in so much pain that he cldnt even deal with the baby for at least an hour after she was born becuz I was in so much pain. He was so worried about me. The docs said the baby was fine etc. He focused completely on me... He said that he cld never see me in pain like that again. So when our son was born I had some pain but the epi came much quicker that time so it was easier for him to deal with.. Crystal907 -

greeneyes, I get crampy menstral like feelings when my baby is going through a growth spurt. It's funny, I'll get a side stitch one day... then it changes to cramps... then it feels like my uterus is bruised... then the next day it itches... then I pop out more. Maybe you're growing! :)greeneyes -

I vote for heading to the L&D just to be checked out.
Especially with your history of the dry birth.
Urine has a definite smell, and if it didn't smell like urine, then you should be looked at.
Don't feel dumb. I would be the same way. I'm dealing with these crampy pains that I'm assuming are BH, but they haven't really gone away and its been 2 hours. I'm starting to freak myself out, but I know I just need to go to bed. Or at least lie down for awhile.
At the very least, call your doctors office and see what the on call doctor has to say.Crystal907 -

Liz, no I WANT your advice, it scares me to keep hearing the same thing over and over... women who were against it or didn't want it somehow always end up with it. Where are the women with natural birth stories, they're far and few out there. Crystal907 -
8.4 hours ago
nanners your not dumb! I'd be asking the SAME thing. I agree with Liz, go ahead and call and ask, better to know and have them send you away then tell you 'you should have called us!' Liz3 -

Crystal- its all in pain tolerance. I could not handle it. The reason I am so hoenst with yall about it is bcuz I wanted to NOT have an epi. I was against it. but when I dialated to 6 and them contractions were on top of each other that was it. I screamed for drugs and they said that the anastetic guy went home and they had to call him and if he didnt come in time then I wld have to go natural. I screamed that they better get me drugs bcuz I cldnt handle it.. I wont lie. Some women like being in touch with their bodies etc.. Not me, drug me up.. As for side effects I was so excited my baby was here that I didnt even notice if I had any. I had Ray at my side and my baby in my arms and that was all I was consumed with.. Everyone hadnles things differently.. But I want the drugs ASAP. even if it does slow down labor. I need drugs bcuz I cant handle the pain.. :o) XXXXHUGSXXXXnannersmama -

I don't know, as I was wearing pj pants...so I don't know what colornannersmama -
8.4 hours ago
No, it wasn't a lot...and I know that sometimes I have to pee soon after, so I've been making a point of pushing all the extra out. Last time, I didn't have any fluid left, which is why they had to induce me, and while they had to break the bag, there wasn't even a trickle...it was a dry birth.Crystal907 -

nanners, in my childbirth class they told us to note what color the 'water' was. Was it clear, pink tinged or green at all?Liz3 -
8.5 hours ago
nannersmama- You need to go to L&D if you dont think it was urine. I sneezed once and peed all over myself and went to the hospital bcuz is gushed and I thought my water broke.. turned out I just peed. better safe than sorry!!! also there is another girl in our wk that thought she peed and when to L&D and her water broke and she is still in the hospital.. I wld head up there or call bcuz you cant be too safe! and it is NOT s stupid question!greeneyes -

Was it alot of liquid??
I've peed on the potty and a few minutes later had to pee again. I barely made it a few times. If it was alot of liquid, I'd say it could be your water broke.
I had my water broken when I was induced and it gushed everywhere. I didn't smell it, so I can't help you there! LOLnannersmama -

Crystal, I didn't puke with my epi, or feel sick. In fact, I walked from the delivery room to my private room 2 hours later....slowwwwwly, but still under my own power!nannersmama -

yay for epis before feeling contractions!!! That happened with #1, and it was great....anyways, here's my ?.....I don't know if I peed myself, or if I need to head into L&D....Went pee on the potty like a big girl, went and sat on the floor. All of a sudden, warm and wet...and it didn't feel like it came from the pee-pee hole. If you know what I mean. I think I've lost my plug over the last few days, and baby has def. dropped. I've been spending parts of the last few days feeling like I have cramps, but it's obviously been a while since Aunt Flow knocked. Ps, we smelled my pj pants, and kinda sweet. DId I pee myself, or what? What does it smell like when water breaks?Crystal907 -

I'm going to go as long as I can without an epi. But I'm sure I'll cave...Crystal907 -
8.6 hours ago
Oh god Liz don't scare me... I'm afraid the pain will be unbearable... I really don't WANT an epi but if I have to so be it. I'm more worried about the after affects. Puking, numbness, tired...greeneyes -

Real contractions are more painful.. However with my daughter my labor was induced before the epidural and they hurt so bad I screamed for an epidural and almost had a stroke bcuz I cldnt take the pain. With my son my water broke on Sunday and I was to be induced on Monday. Those contractions hurt just as bad and as soon ad I got to L&D they gave me my epidural so I didnt have to go thru nearly as much pain with him as I did with my daughter.. LOLgreeneyes -

I was induced with my daughter, so I never felt contractions. I didn't even feel them when they induced me. The machine kept showing contractions, but I never felt them. They gave me an epidural and I didn't feel anything after that.
I guess if these were real, they would be more consistent. this is just annoying. and my baby keeps doing karate kicks to my bladder, so that doesn't help. Crystal907 -

I would think REAL contractions would be more painful but maybe I'm not one to respond since I'm a first timer... Or maybe it's really consistent non-stop and gets worse and worse?Deborah Kurczek -

OMG! My comment just posted like 4 times! My computer was acting really funny. I believe it locked up. I had to reboot! Sorry for being a little redundant! Hah! Yawn, it's nearly time for bed, but I'm trying to make it until hubby gets home in an hour and a half. Maybe I'll raid the fridge or watch one of our old movies (Netflix didn't deliver any movies today. Darn.)greeneyes -

greeneyes, I've heard that along with your stomach getting super tight for a couple minutes. greeneyes -

I guess I'm having BH contractions tonight. They aren't real intense, but they are uncomfortable. I didn't experience these with my first daughter.
Can anyone else give me a heads up on this feeling? It's like bad period cramps that come and go. Is that BH?Crystal907 -

SARA I JUST BAKED CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES!!!!! I finished the batch from yesterday. I heard that refrigerating the dough overnight helps but not sure if they came out any better than yesterday's batch. Funny. Now I just need to freeze some so I don't eat 2 dozen cookies!Crystal907 -

I was in bed for two and a half months with my first one. It seemed so long...I must have read like hundreds of books and played Sonic the Hedgehog and Donkey Kong for hours (this was in 1993). I also watched a lot of Melrose Place reruns (you may not remember that show). I couldn't wait until I could get out of bed. Now, it seems like all I want to do is lie in bed. lolDeborah Kurczek -
