Dates and numbers:
There are 71 days until your due date on December 22, 2008.
You are 209 days pregnant.
You are 6.9 months pregnant.
You are in your 7th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: March 17, 2008 to June 15, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: June 16, 2008 to September 28, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: September 29, 2008 to December 22, 2008. (28 - 40 weeks)
At this point in your pregnancy, your baby's crown-to-rump length is approximately 10.4 inches and the total length of your baby is around 16.7 inches. Your baby weighs about 2.7 pounds and continues to grow every day. If you measure from your bellybutton, your uterus is 3.5 to 4 inches above it. Total weight gain at this point is usually between 19 and 25 pounds.
Babies that are born prematurely can be very tiny. Even a baby that is only a few weeks early can be very small. Your baby will grow rapidly from now until week 36, and then at a slower rate thereafter. Generally, boys weigh more than girls at birth. The average baby's birth weight at full term is 7 to 7.5 pounds.
You might notice some leakage of colostrums from your breasts around this time. Colostrums is a sticky, watery substance that provides your baby's first food if you choose to breastfeed. Milk does not come in immediately after delivery and colostrums is high in calories and enough for your baby's first few days of life. Your baby is stimulating the production of colostrums. The baby's body is ensuring that there will be a readily available food supply after delivery.
Your baby will continue to open and close his eyes in the womb and may be able to see silhouettes of objects or even people in the right amount of light. Your baby should be moving many times throughout the day. Some of your baby's movements will be predictable and if you notice a decrease in fetal movements, you should lie down and do a fetal kick count. You should feel your baby move approximately ten times in an hour. If you do not notice the proper amount of movements, you should contact your healthcare provider.
Research has shown that your baby is not only able to hear, but also able to recognize your own voice. This shows that your baby can already learn, remember and recognize.

I swear australia is the only country that doesnt have a maternity policy. Even africa gets more time off than we do!!! AFRICA!! No offence to people in africa...and it annoys me that just because I dont work I'm not even entitled to maternity leave but its not like I can get a job, plus im a student. If men were pregnant, there would probably be 2 years of paid maternity for everyone! *humph* hahasexyery85 -

mommy sounds like your mucous plug, if you have already called your doctor i wouldn't worry too much about it. I read that it usually happens around week 31-32 but maybe it is just happening a little early for you. If you have any worries though maybe to reassure yourself you should go to labor and delivery.spudjc -

in the us,in ny state at least, you are allowed through the fmla act 12 weeks unpaid leave after the birth of a child. All jobs are different, but most that I have heard of allow moms to be out with some form of their paycheck for 6 or 8 weeks depending on if they have a c section or not. Then the addistional 4 or 6 weeks that you would take would be completely unpaid. I think it is great that the uk gives parents this much time.mommy2b18 -

this article i've found says their trying to increase uk maternity allowance to 1 year but are worried it'll make woman less likely to get employed.

My husband and I have our own business and we always are closed Nov., Dec., Jan., and Feb. So, I am very lucky to have a good bit of time previous to her arrival to finish getting ready and also a good bit afterwards to spend time with her. I am thinking of not going back to work though. I might decide to work from home doing bookkeeping for other business' besides our own.
I have so much heartburn and acid reflux right now it is crazy. I feel like crap today too so I left work and came home to rest. I am also constantly on the toilet. I still feel like I have to go to bathroom even after I've just gone. I don't know if she is head down or not yet but she is putting a lot of pressure on the ole' bladder.spudjc -

39 weeks? where do you live newlife? I only get 6 weeks maternity leave, and my doctor is taking me out of work 2 weeks before the due date but I dont get paid for that time. That is awesome that you get that long. Since the doctor moved my due date to the 17th that will take me out on the 3rd of dec and as long as I have the baby on the 17th then I will be back to work on Jan 28.newlifehopes -

@Kazr, so you're starting your maternity leave, i cant decide when to begin mine.. i really want to stop work asap but i only get 39 weeks leave so obviously the sooner i take it the less time i get with the baby. but i think the beginning/middle of november may be about right. when's everyone else starting theirs?newlifehopes -

hello ladies! I fell soooo sick today. My boyfriend has been really sick for the past week and now I have whatever he had plus my whole stomach feels really gross. I am at work now but I dont think I will last the day the way I am feeling. Hopefully the boss realizes that I feel like crap and sends my butt home. I wondered why i slept so good through the night last night, must be my body finally giving out on me with the flu. mandybrooke -

mine doesnt stop moving either, my other 2 wernt as active as this one. i had a dream last night, i was sat down, and suddenly this foot shape was sticking out my side, it came right out, and i showed my husband, and it was that much stuck out, we could see all 5 toes. it was weird. its proberly because im not looking forward to when baby streches its foot right out of my side, i hated that, with my last pregnancy.may2099 -

Got a call today and have to go back in for the three hr GD testing. Until then I will try to lay off the sugar. I also get plenty of exercise so I hope I pass it. It causes your baby to be big but that is kinda wierd because I measured 2 smaller than what I should be for 29wks. Any suggestions?

I am having bh contractions and feel like I have to pee all the time. it only started when I was cooking dinner about 5 pm. I don't know I just feel funny and I had a couple bouts of my head feeling kindy of woozy. I hate to panic and then call the dr and look like an idiot since this is my 3rd pregnancy. Maybe my defense could be that this one has been COMPLETELY different from my 1st 2. mandi-will-have-3-kids -

hey all, i had my U/S today to see how bug the biy is for 29 weeks. They said he is about 3 and half pounds and measuring between 32 1/2 -33 weeks. What exactly does the measurement mean. Do they induce early for measuring big? They said he is now in the 80th percentile. just wondering if bigger babies come earlier? my first was average and 3 weeks early, my second was 8lbs and 2 weeks late. Any comments would be appreciated.newlifehopes -

BTW girls, i totally recommend a birth ball if you haven't already got one. there like exercise balls but burst proof. you can sit on it and rock your pelvic floor muscles or go on all fours while leaning on it.it also encourages the baby to go into the optimal birthing position (as its back is the heaviest part). its soo comfy!mamabear0608 -

I was told to eat or drink nothing after midnight to be on the safe side.--also, really weird, last night i couldnt sleep hardly because i think i was having contractions through out the night, i woke up and for about 3 hours i haven't had any but now im getting them again. Im not sure how to react to them, if they are just BH or if they are the real thing. My pelvic bones are getting worse and worse everyday and at my u/s on Tuesday she was head down and ready to be here. She is a little over 3 lbs right now, but im still so worried~! I hate it when stuff like this happens. Seems like im always worrying over something?!sara-in-oregon -

@ Qweetnc21 - maybe you could have them delay your test by an hour or two? I had honey nut cheerios on the day of my test. About 3 hours before drinking the drink, and it was fine (they told me i could eat up to two hours before).Nishaw -

Qweetnc21-I forgot about the no suger thing too before my test and I ate some gummies three hours before and I failed my test and had to go back and do the three hour test and I passed that one. I would suggest rescheduling your appointment so you dont have to do the 3hr one because it is no fun at all!Qweetnc21 -

ok, i have my glucose test in a hour and i forgot the one rule-No Sugar! I get into work and a coworker has me a piece of toast and sausage like she sometimes brings me. I cracked open a pack strawberry jam and ate it. Then my friend wanted me to sample her sweet potatoe pie that she made (first time) so i did (only a sample). Then I went on and ate my cereal that i always add sugar too. But that was suppose to be my only sugar today-Will I be ok or did i blow it?justine -

The only way to describe Braxton Hicks is that your tummy tightens....just for a few seconds...like 10 seconds...and it kinda blows out like a balloon and goes rock hard. You can feel it happening but it's not painful...you just get this tightened sensation !chellebob -
2 days ago
I have the same feeling of tightness and at first I thought it was the baby spinning round in a funny way, but I think they are Braxton Hicks now - I get a few an hour at work as I am moving about and bending a lot and less at home when resting. I teach 26 5 year olds so not much time for resting at work!AshleyD -

If it makes you all feel better, I am sitting in the hospital and had NO IDEA I was having contractions until they ran in here with a shot to stop my labor. I thought my bladder was acting up again. In fact, they monitor me 2 times a day and unless they have the straps tight I cannot tell or feel them at all, but the time they were bad like I said it just felt like pressure on my bladder. Very confusing!
