Born & Birth stories

Dates and numbers:
There are 43 days until your due date on January 04, 2009.
You are 237 days pregnant.
You are 7.8 months pregnant.
You are in your 8th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: March 30, 2008 to June 28, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: June 29, 2008 to October 11, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: October 12, 2008 to January 04, 2009. (28 - 40 weeks)

Your baby weighs about 4.4 pounds at this point. The crown-to-rump length of your baby is approximately 12 inches and the total length is around 19.4 inches. Measuring from the top of your uterus to your bellybutton is 5.2 inches. Total weight gain at this point of pregnancy is usually 22 to 28 pounds.

With the exception of crying, your baby is capable of doing everything that a newborn baby will do. Your baby is restricted now inside of the uterus, but still can kick and move. Your baby sleeps a lot of the time, just as newborn babies do. Your baby's eyes move in the manner of REM sleep and researchers believe that babies can dream vividly in uterus. When your baby is awake, she is listening, feeling and learning. There are billions of neurons in the brain that make trillions of connections. Your baby will probably have settled into the birth position by now and your caregiver can most likely tell which way your baby is presenting. If your baby were to be born now, the lungs would probably be strong enough to function properly, but your baby may still need extra care from specially trained doctors and nurses.

During these last few weeks of pregnancy, most women experience an increased urge to urinate. The uterus puts a lot of pressure on the bladder and can send you to the restroom frequently. Your uterus has actually grown 500 times throughout your pregnancy! Red blood cell production catches up with the production of plasma and physiological anemia may begin to fade at this time.

Your baby's eyes open during alert times and close during sleep. The eye color is usually blue, regardless of the permanent color as pigmentation is not fully developed. The final formation of eye pigmentation requires exposure to light and usually happens a few weeks after birth.

This is interesting ... So at my breastfeeding class the other night, I learned that unless you want to have another baby right after this one is born, you better be careful. Apparently, we don't have periods for a couple of months after birth but we still ovulate!!! I believe the nurse even said we're extra fertile. So! That's just something to keep in mind in the months following the birth of our babies.

tanyamadiderek - 21 minutes ago
They told me I could drink while breast feeding I just had to pump and dump so talk to your lactation specialist.

MyFirstBabyGirlOlivia - 33 minutes ago
Good Morning ladies...tommorrow I will be at week 34, the safety zone is what I call it. My doctor said that at 34 weeks your baby is safe to come out so I have been waiting for this day so that I can relax and not worry about preterm labor. I don't have a real reason to worry anyways but you know how things go, things happen. I'm also looking forward to my baby shower tommorrow. Time is going by so fast now for some reason. Maybe it's because the closer it gets the less you feel like you are ready. I have been in such a nesting fase lately. Energy like you wouldn't believe. Finally my ear infection is not bothering me anymore but I still have some temperary hearing loss in that ear from it. It's slowly coming back though. Well, I hope that all of you ladies are doing well. Hang in there. We are all almost there and almost to the point when we can have our bodies back again. I was wondering, would I be able to have a glass of wine if I'm planning to breastfeed?

Violetts - 45 minutes ago
I just got back from my appointment. Baby is doing great. He's still breech, but she assures me he still has time to move. Also, I didn't gain any weight. I'm exactly where I was at 2 weeks ago. She wasn't concerned because I'm still measuring right at 33 weeks. She said some people gain more weight in the beginning and then taper off in the last few weeks. Anyways, everything went great. I hope every one else is doing well also.

33 Weeks YAY! More heartburn than ever now and a feeling of being full all the time even without eating. I seem to wake up at 3am every night with acid reflux and in need of lots of rolaids grr. I am so happy we are almost there. My mom thinks I will have him 2 weeks early just after christmas I wonder if there is a way to tell?? I sure hope not I want him to go all the way then I know he is healthy and not under cooked lol

cissy - 1.2 hours ago
Oh I got so peeved at the husband last night, he was cold and he made some comment about not wanting to go out to smoke but he wanted to smoke, I was not happy, but since his name is on the house and not mine according to him I do not have a say in anything that goes on. He lit up a smoke in the laundry room, makes the house stink, there is no window in the room so it just sits in there and filters to the rest of the house. He doesn't care, when we lived in our apartment and I was pregnant he never smoked in their and the next winter when we were still living in there he didn't smoke in there but yet he thinks that he can just light up again this winter he also did last winter. I told him he is gonna have to get used to the cold because when the new baby comes he is not smoking in the house, he never said anything to me he just walked away like I never said anything. I seriously hate how he thinks that he is the best and nows everything. There is no snow on the ground yet, yes we have had snow but it has all melted what is he seriously going to do when there is a foot of snow and it is negative degrees outside where in the world is he going to go smoke then.

cissy - 1.3 hours ago
I know when I had my son the only thing that I really had in my bag were some extra clothes and tooth brush, tooth paste, brush, extra undies, socks. I don't actually think I put a bra on while I was in the hospital and I just wore my shoes around the hospital. Last time I actually had clothes for my kid though and this time I don't so I guess if I get to the hospital and I do not have an outfit for him to leave in I will send my sister or mom out to get something, I do not trust the husband to get a good outfit.

mummyummy - 1.3 hours ago
Hello lovely mothers and mothers to be, I have leaky boobs, i keep finding unsightly splotches on my tops if i dont wear a bra. Is this early to be leaky? (almost 34 weeks) does it mean she's gonna be ready for coming out sooner rather than later? Has anyone else had this in week 33-4?

liznzad1 - 1.5 hours ago
I packed a toothbrush, toothpaste, shmpoos, conditioners, deoderant, hair brush, some make up, comfy bras, nursing pads, a change of clothes, baby's going home outfit and last minute I should throw my charger in there for my phone. It's in the baby's crib.

cissy - 1.6 hours ago
I have not even thought about packing my bag for the hospital, I can't pack the baby bag because I do not have anything for baby. I do not even know what bag I am going to use for my stuff, hmmmm just hopefully I will be home when I start having contractions so I can pack then. Maybe I will be the one going to the hospital with a plastic grocery bag.

veesalazar - 1.7 hours ago
I hope for all of you having your little ones early due to complications that everything turns out great and that you and your babies are just fine! My little guy will make his apperance right before Christmas according to the dr, and I counted that and it seems I only have 4 weeks and 2 days to go. WOW! Seems like just the other day I was telling hubby we gotta hurry up and get things ready because baby will be here in 3 months. I am so excited its going to be wonderful having a baby in my arms again.

prissypell - 2.3 hours ago
That is the exciting part of things. Luckily the baby is a lil over 5 pounds now and looks really good so it could be as close as 2 weeks and she will be here.

bean01 - 2.8 hours ago
prissypell i have been recently diagnosed with pre-eclampsia! It looks like i'll have to have my baby early to depending on how severe it becomes! i hope you don't have it but on the positive side your get to snuggle your baby a bit earlier x

mollymae006 - 3.7 hours ago
Morning Ladies--went to the doctor yesterday for my regular weekly appointment and ended up having to go to the hospital and have testing done. Doctor says it is necessary to do the hospital testing weekly from this point forward so that he can make sure baby is doing okay. The testing took about 2.5 hours and the hospital said that it went really fast this time and not to expect it to go to quickly every week. UGH... Good news is that my little girl is doing well and blood sugars are down this morning. Hubby is still very sick with pneumonia and my doctor insists that he wears a mask at all times for my protection. Hopefully he will get well soon. Glad it is Friday--I need the weekend. Have a good day.

prissypell - 4.2 hours ago
Morning everyone...Bwest thats great! I was stunned to have extremely high BP yesterday. So my doc wants to confirm after tests on next Monday whether or not its Pre-Eclampsia or not. If so I will deliver in 2-3 weeks!! :( Im happy but hate to have a problem also she is breech so that means I do get a C-Section!! :(

bwest - 4.9 hours ago
morning ladies! everyone suffering through problems i hope you all get better!!! As for me i went to my specialist yesterday and NO C SECTION anymore! They said that everything is ok now and not to worry! SO i get to go on my own!!

veesalazar - 5 hours ago
All my contractions are mostly in my lower back and they hurt like crazy. Yesterday I had to rush hubby out of the store because I couldnt walk anymore. I had to sit with a heating pad for a while for it to calm down. I just started taking antibiotics for my bacterial infection so I guess I know to expect neon pee and some yellow discharge, thanks, see that is why sometimes tmi is necessary. My hospital bag is mostly packed i am just mising a couple of items like my toiletres, nursing bras, and jeans or sweats to wear home.

CarBel - 5.2 hours ago
YAY!! HERE I AM! I am so excited one more week down...not much more to go!

amynicole - 5.7 hours ago
my stomach hurts so bad this morning. been hurting since bout 430. woke me up. feels like i am gonna start period

I-Make-Army-Brats2 - 6.3 hours ago
Oh wonderful, contractions...bleh. Here I am timing them seeing if a L&D visit is necessary. I think it's just stress...but the only thing that's alarming me is where they are (belly and thighs). The last 2 times I had these it was preterm labor, and with my daughter the only time I had them like that was hours before labor started and my water broke. I do NOT want to go back there...UGH.

lemonysickness - 7.8 hours ago
Off to week 34 tomorrow... Or I guess later on today since it is 5:44AM at the moment o.0'

akr - 8.2 hours ago
Mynameisellie - Your comment about your dream about the hairy guy made me laugh so much a bit of wee nearly came out! Ha ha! That's brilliant!

twins4me2009 - 10.3 hours ago
well all.. my heart burn is dissappearing I am going to go back to sleep.. its after midnight here

mynameisellie - 10.3 hours ago
Ugh. It's 2 a.m. and I'm wide awake. My menstrual-like cramps finally went away after a few hours , but now I'm left being really dehydrated and my feet are still swollen. The bottoms of my feet feel almost numb! And, I'm having some weepies/baby blues. : (

NicolePS - 13.6 hours ago
I really wish they would have just left me on it so I wouldn't have to worry about stupid uti's and if they were gone or not butnow don't they have to take you off of that at like 36 weeks b/c its the last 4 weeks of preg? anyways I am off to bed its 11 pm for me.

amber0225 - 13.8 hours ago
Well ladies tonight was my lastnight in this week.. moving on to week 34 see you all there!

baby2preggo - 13.8 hours ago
hello ladies...is anyone else having regular intense contractions everyday but not in a certain pattern?

amber0225 - 13.8 hours ago
well I havent packed my bag yet but do have a list of things that will go in it and I have bought the things to go in just have to pack it!

mandabelle22 - 13.9 hours ago
k, who has their hospital bag packed, and what's in it? I'm not sure what to pack

mandabelle22 - 14 hours ago
yes, I have to take macrobid everyday. I have been for quite awhile, but I haven't had a uti since... just neon stuff lol...

mungoinjan - 14 hours ago
that totally makes sense about the meds making the discharge change. I'm on meds for my back and the color just started changing . I have no signs of any infection.

NicolePS - 14.1 hours ago
yeah I don't think there is a such thing as TMI since we have been through this from the begining for most of us and we are all here for each other and have prob heard it all LOL

NicolePS - 14.1 hours ago
it really prob is your anti! I remember your on one for your whole preg b/c of uti's right? Well anyways I just got doen w/ another uti w/ another round of macrobid and it made my pee neon too!

mandabelle22 - 14.3 hours ago
I've had greenish/yellowish discharge for awhile, but they tested me for infection and I was fine. They think my antibiotic is causing the color. who knows... my pee is like neon yellowish too.. lol.. sorry if that's tmi.. but at this point come on. i think we can handle it.

I-Make-Army-Brats2 - 14.4 hours ago
my little dude was partying last night! lol around 3 am i woke up to him wiggling, kicking, and punching like CRAZY! and since i was on my side and the skin on one side of my tummy was really up against him, i felt his little hands and feet right up against my palm. i decided to poke him back and that made him wiggle even more, hee hee. ^_^ this has been such a hard pregnancy, but i'm really going to miss having him in there.

cissy - 15 hours ago
lemonysickness - The only time that I ever get acid reflux is when I am pregnant. Now I know how my son feels though when he has it, good thing he has meds for his. Tums to seem to work for me though.

mollymae006 - 15.2 hours ago
Hello week 33! What a day I have had. Going to bed...night ladies

MyFirstBabyGirlOlivia - 15.9 hours ago
I think that greenish discharge is a sign of an infection. You should consult your doctor right away because the infection if not treated can send you into a premature labor.

naomi88 - 16.3 hours ago
the pains are all in my lower pelvis, like almost in my crotch

naomi88 - 16.4 hours ago
Ok so I am at work and I have been getting sharp pains along with some cramping/ contractions. Pretty painful. No specific pattern, but getting quite frequent. Should I be worried?? I go to the doc on Monday, but I am wondering if I should call or if I am just freaking out.

MUNGOINJAN - 17.4 hours ago
YES I THINK MY BABY IS A SPAZZ! LOL HE NEVER STOPS MOVING AND I OFTEN YELP OUT BC HE KICKS SO HARD OR SUDDEN IT STARTLES ME.. QUESTION...AND WAY TMI...TODAY I NOTICED SOME LIME GREENISH DISCHARGE...BUT IT WAS ONLY ONCE...HASN'T BEEN LIKE THAT SINCE? IS THAT ODD? WE WENT ON A NATURE HIKE TODAY AND I AM SURE I OVERDID IT BUT IT FELT SO GOOD TO GET OUT THERE AGAIN...ANYWAY I HAVE BEEN CONTRACTING QUITE INTENSLY TONIGHT..BUT NOTHING REGULAR OR OF A PATTERN..MORE IRREGULAR. SO I'M NOT WORRIED..BUT THE GREENISH YELLOW DISCARGE WAS WIERD BC IT WAS ONLY THAT ONCE?

lemonysickness - 17.4 hours ago
Yeah I guess mine would be more like acid reflux as well. Never had either before so I just assumed it was heartburn but when looking up symptoms, it sounds more like acid reflux. Either way, horrible stuff!

mandabelle22 - 17.5 hours ago
great, i'm glad i'm not the only one going through this. i thought she moved a lot before, but this is crazy. And, I'm constantly having to run to the bathroom and wipe. it's so gross

cissy - 17.7 hours ago
I do not get heartburn but more of a acid reflux, that was bad at 2:30 this morning that one time it burned and was nasty. For movement it depends on the day, he is moving right now but sometimes I really don't feel him all day I think it just depends on what I am doing. I have noticed that at 2:30 every morning when I wake up he is awake and I think also at 4 and 6 or so, I do have to say this little guy is gonna have to change is sleeping schedule because I need my sleep. I only can hope he will be like my son and only wake up during the night to eat and go back to sleep.

NicolePS - 17.8 hours ago
lemon: you could still have a baldy LOL that heartburn/hair is just another one of the old wives tales.

tanyamadiderek - 17.9 hours ago
Lots of discharge is normal just watch to make sure it doesnt turn yellow or have an odor as that could be a bacterial infection or white with texture could be yeast but if it is just like a lot of normal discharge you should be fine.

amber0225 - 18.5 hours ago
Is your heartburn just not starting? I think I'm getting heartburn?

lemonysickness - 19.2 hours ago
They say that heartburn means a head full of hair... Well I prefer her bald now =( I haven't been having trouble with heartburn really till the past two nights; I've had it so bad it has kept me up till 7AM, it is horrible!

veesalazar - 19.2 hours ago
My guy is still normally active about the same as hes been. As for discharge blah yup I got it, its just white. I gotta wear liners cuz of it. 1 more month to go LOL.

amber0225 - 19.5 hours ago
I just see the discharge when I wipe. As for movement I didnt really feel this little girl much until now.. wow she gets to being so active now days!!!
