You still have approximately 13 weeks left of your pregnancy, and during this time your baby must continue to grow and develop. If your baby was born at this time, she would have several complications that would require special attention. Because babies do not have adequate amounts of fat at this time, your baby would have to be kept inside of an incubator for warmth. Because the air sacs in your baby's lungs do not yet have surfactant, she would require an artificial respirator. Your baby's brain, liver and immune system still need to develop more also.

Make sure you take good care of your teeth. So-called `pregnancy gingivitis` affects most pregnant women to some degree, and generally occurs in the second trimester. If you already have gingivitis, the condition is likely to worsen during pregnancy.

Sweet Baby - I'm starting to feel the pressure on my pubic bone as well. With my first pregnancy the pressure was terrible, I couldn't even put pants on unless I was sitting down because the pain was so bad. Turns out I was two weeks overdue with my girl and had to be induced so I don't think it means premature labor, of course I would ask your doc just to be sure.

Wow that game had some really bad calls in it. I was rooting for the Sooners, but oh well... I have had this pain where I'll be laying down and I go to get up and I can't move because of so much pressure pain in the groin area. Anyone know what this is? I've had it for awhile but it just seems to be getting worse. I've heard if you feel too much pressure down there you're probably going into labor, but I don't think that's it because I don't have any other symptoms of premature labor. And thoughts would be nice. Thanks! Sarah

Finally bought some things for baby this morning. I took my two six year old girls to Babies R Us and of course they wanted to buy their new sister to be everything. We bought two outfits. I really shouldn't buy much since I now am going to have three baby showers. I only wanted one (this is my first pregnancy--all three of my other children are adopted blessings) but my friends in Oklahoma want to give me one and my family in Texas is giving me one there when I go home in November, and now my coworkers have asked if I mind if they give me a shower at school since there are so many teachers that want to have a shower. I probably won't have a baby shower and this is my first baby. :( i am not really worried about the gifts i just want the get together..but i live 900 miles away from family so the only way i would get one is if i went home! And i can't do that cause i am high risk, plus we only have one vehicle. Dh needs it for work! This is kinda a sore subject for me. It makes me sad. I just want to celebrate her...that is all! Cake and punch would be fine with NO gifts...i don't really mind! I have the big stuff...like the crib and carseat, the mattress..now all i need is diapers, wipes and the little stuff like ointments.

Baby showers are great! I won't get one since this is #2 and another boy... But anyways it is so nice to have one and get some of the big stuff bought for you :) I have all my stuff from my son so don't need much but still getting diapers and clothes is a big help too :) At my baby shower my sister had it for me and one of the games was to pick a partner and at the same time you fed each other pudding with a baby spoon! It was a race and it was so funny! I couldn't stop laughing I laughed so hard I cried! My mom and mil won :)

woo hoo... my baby shower is a week from tomorrow. I'm going to my cousin's wife's shower tomorrow and I'm so excited. lol.. she's having a girl too and we registered for some of the same things. ;D Crap is so expensive though.. I spent like 60 bucks and it doesn't even look like I got her anything. :( But, it's like 2 hours away and I drive a navigator so that's gonna be like a hundred bucks in gas. :( again... lol.. no, it's okay my whole family lives in the area so I'll get a good bit of use out of the golden gas. After my gluclose test I fainted! They made me fast for 12 hours and then I had that nasty drink. I had to wait an hour and 5 minutes before my hour was up I started to feel really bad(seeing white spots). So then I had my blood drawn and I fainted after they drew my blood! Lucky my DH was there...my hero! The doc said my test was at 137 and passing was under 140...I am not sure if they are going to make me take it again.

I have been reading all of your messages for weeks and finally decided to sign up so that I can be part of it.I turned 27 weeks on wed. I had my doctors appointment on the same day and I had my glucose test done. Thank god it came out to be ok. she did say that my iron levels were slightly low though. Did anyone else experience this? I can't wait for my baby shower. I don't even know when it's going to happen because my family is keeping it a secret and won't tell me. Anyways hello to everyone and looking forward spending these couple of months with you guys.

I just got back from the 3 hour glucose tolerance test and I passed out! Of course hubby thinks the fact that I passed out indicates that I am diabetic, but I think it has more to do with not being able to eat for 12 hours and then being subjected to 4 large tubes of blood being taken out of me! I hope that I never have to do that again!

I just got back from my doc appointment. I need to recalculate my weight gain. Now I'm up to 26 pounds. AWESOME! The good news is everything looks great and baby and mommy are perfect right now. I'm measuring right on target. So, the extra weight is all in my @ss.

They want me to call and set up a date for the glucose test. I hate it when they draw my blood! I almost passed out last time! I get so scared and nervous and then it makes me light headed and i almost black out. My urine has been fine each time so I wonder if I should call and ask if I really need it done

Also, my little girl moves sooo much during the day. They aren't just kicks. She presses herself hard against the wall and you can't see which part of her body it is but you can see a bulge that stays there and chills for like 35 seconds. It's soo amazing and funny. I poked where she was a second ago and she gave a hard kick back. She obviously is head down bc all kicks are up high and to the right side a little.... I hope she doesn't get silly and turn breech after all this time of being head down...

You should be between 3 cm of how many weeks pregnant you are so 27cm=27 weeks, so your just right :) No worries. I see a lot of woman leaving messages about gestational diabetes test. You may want to look into this test in more detail. I have a midwife informed me that the test is only about 50% accurate, and many woman go through their pregnancy misdiagnosed. She also mentioned that if you are feel your are eating healthy there is not much that can be done to prevent you from having a larger baby. Also if you aren't spilling sugar in your urine when you see the doctor and are measuring ok then their is not much to worry about. I have decided not to take the test. I guess this is a positive about having a midwife informed choice vs informed consent.

Ethansmommy09- I also measure 2.5 weeks ahead. It does not mean that the baby will come 2 weeks early, or that you are really 27 weeks. It is weird I know. My doc said it could be a thicker uterus, gestational diabetes which makes the baby a little bigger, too much fluid... but I get tested for the GD on the 21st so I'll know then. At first when I found out I was measuring ahead, I was like yes! Maybe she will come even sooner! lol. She still could.. u never know. Sometimes people just measure bigger and all is normal... U/S gives the real due date by 99%.

Well my son has decided to be a night person. During the day I rarely felt him yesterday in fact I was even kinda worried. Well come night time and he wakes me up about midnight kicking and squirming and just dancing the night away. I tossed and turned till 4am, he finally settled down enough for me to get 2 hours of sleep. Every kick and punch feels like heaven but its obvious I will be up with baby all night long LOL.

My baby moves ALOT, all the time and gets the hiccups a couple of times a day. I always feel the rythmic tap by my pubic bone, thats how I know he's head down. I can see my stomach stretch and skew now, the kids think it's cool and my husband thinks it's scary. He makes these horrible faces and then looks at me sympathetically and asks 'didn't that hurt?' lol

najeen, are you having a home birth? I'm having one! I'm from week 30 and saw your comment. I wouldn't ask about negative birth experiences at home if you are. It will just scare you. There are always negatives with everything. Hosptials don't always do the best things either.

I gained 50 with my first son, 26 with my daughter, and now so far I had gained 12 lbs but just stepped on my scale and lost 4 lbs so I am at an 8 lb gain so far with this one. Of course much heavier now than I was with the first 2.

Made it to 27 weeks!!! My baby girl is really active one day and not so much the next. Wednesday was her most active day, yesterday she was moving, but not all that active, this morning she hasn't stopped moving. I asked my doctor yesterday if that was normal and he said that it was. I have gained 21 pounds so far, and my doctor told me yesterday to eat more at night to try and control my blood sugars. Sounds backwards I know, but he explained it to me...I just hope I don't gain too much weight, but am happy with the you need to eat more suggestion! Hope you all have a good day...I am so happy that it is Friday and that next week I only have to work Monday and Tuesday--fall break at our school!!!

I gained like 60-70lbs with my first pregnancy! And then got pregnant again 6 months after that! I can't remember how much I gained with that pregnancy but I know it was too much! LOL What can I say I love to eat! And then with my third I did much better and only gaind like 35 lbs. This time around I am doing good so far I think. I am at 15 lbs total weight gain and I will be 28 weeks tomorrow! It is soooo hard for me not to over eat. I have been walking 5 days a week for about 45 min each time. So I really think that is helping me not put on too much. So to all you ladies who are putting on a little more weight than they should don't worry too much about it. I have been there and it all works out okay. Well I am off to go have my Gluocse test and Rhogam shot done! Fun fun! Hope you ladies have a great day! Oh and I am off to Disney World tomorrow!!!! :0)First time for the whole family, should be a blast!
