Born & Birth stories

Dates and numbers:
There are 92 days until your due date on January 07, 2009.
You are 188 days pregnant.
You are 6.2 months pregnant.
You are in your 7th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: April 02, 2008 to July 01, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: July 02, 2008 to October 14, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: October 15, 2008 to January 07, 2009. (28 - 40 weeks)

By this week, your baby's crown-to-rump length is approximately 9.2 inches. Remember, that is only from the top of his head to his bottom and does not include his leg measurements! Your baby weighs almost 2 pounds and is beginning to put on weight. Your uterus is about 2.5 inches above your bellybutton and you will continue to grow approximately 1 cm each week. If you have been eating a well-balanced diet, you probably have gained about 16-22 pounds so far. Because your baby has moved further up, you may get occasional pain underneath your ribs.

After a month of having his eyelids sealed shut, your baby begins to open his eyes again this week. Your baby's eyes are almost completely developed. Your baby's eyes are blue in the womb and may change colors later in life. This is true for all races because the pupils do not have their final color until a few months after birth. However, some babies are born with darker or lighter shades of blue. Your growing baby will continue to put on layers of fat until he is born. He is still lean at this point of the pregnancy though. By the time your baby is born, he will assume the typical newborn's plumpness. Your baby's skin will still be wrinkled and red, but the fat continues to fill the skin out.

Finger and toe nails continue to grow.

Blood vessels start to develop in the lungs to prepare the baby for life outside the uterus.

Your baby's blood circulation is completely functional. The umbilical cord system continues to grow and thicken as blood travels with considerable force through the body to nurture the baby. The placenta is now almost equal in size to the baby.

Even though it is still way too soon for your baby to be born yet, the chance of survival without severe abnormalities is now 70% provided it is born in a hospital.

Is anyone else having a problem with everyone constantly tell you how huge you are?I get it all day EVERY day! They say WOW are you sure your not having twins!? Wow your really big! I accually had a lady ask me if the Doctors are trying to find out why I am so big for 6 1/2 months pregnant! I don't know maybe i'm just to sensative, but it's really starting to offend me more and more. Please someone tell me i'm not the only one with this annoying problem.

summababy - 31 minutes ago
amynicole - thanks that is so sweet. annie3 - I admire you for sticken to what you belive is the best and that is breastfeeding. I am also planning on breastfeeding and returning to work about 5 months after the due date and my MIL says I need to use formula as I will disturb the kid. A hello ever heard of a breast pump you numpty(MIL). I understand that it is every mothers personal choice I just want to breastfeed if I can, why spend another few dollars if I can produce it for free and it is better for my little angle. Everyone - hubby was so excited this morning he kissed my tummy to say goodbye to Joslyne and she just gave him this hard kick on his jaw that he jerked up and asked me was that her kicking him and I had to burst out laughing.

mrswood - 57 minutes ago
ReRe78- If it's really important to you, you could call around your area for a doctor who will let your son in the room. It's not too late. I think that should be your decision, not hers- your the one delivering! About the name thing. We had a name we liked and when we told a relative they gave a name they liked better. I didn't like that so now that we have decided on his name we are telling NO ONE. I don't want anyone's opinion! :)

sunshines-bundle - 1.5 hours ago
Hey Ladies I am not sure if any of you have the store Baby Depot in your areas, but they are the devil! LOL. I swear everytime I go there I buy something. They are located inside most Burlington Coat Factories, but have great prices. Anyhow, just wanted to share. And NicolePS, I feel much better :) I think it was a bug too.

im not sure what position my baby is in....i think he moves according to his mood. the ultrasounds so far have said he is breech. i go again wednesday for another ultrasound. i get one at every appointment. every 2-3 weeks. im so glad i have good insurance. we started getting our invoices and every peri appointment costs $1100, plus 600 for the ultrasound and 600 for the ultrasound tech. craziness.

veesalazar- Joel is side to side.. he likes to kick my stomach.. makes me want to puke sometimes :( most of the time I can feel his little head on my right side he always yanks it away when I try to rub on it though lol!

ReRe78 - 3.4 hours ago
I had my dr appt this week and she told me that my son will not be allowed in the delivery room with me =( He is going to be soo upset....She just said that she had too many bad experiences with children in the room.....*sigh*

veesalazar - 4 hours ago
its so funny, i absoluetly love to feel him hit me, even the painful ones. :) I have a dr appointment tomorrow, at my drs office you pick your primary dr then there are 4 or 5 other drs that we have to see just in case they are the ones on call when you go into labor. Fortunetly for me I will probably be going in for the csection at 38 weeks so it should be my primary dr to see me.

Violetts - 4.4 hours ago
VEESALAZAR~ I swear baby Chace lays with his head on my left hip bone. (Painful? Yes!) Then his feet and knees continuously kick the crap out of my right rib cage. So, I totally feel your pain.

bwest - 4.5 hours ago
well ladies i am off to take my 2 year old to the eye doctor. I think he is developing lazy eye in his left eye which is so upsetting...it runs in our family bad...hoping if thats what it is i can catch it early!! I will let everyone know later or tomorrow the outcome! Hope everyone has a good day!

bwest - 4.6 hours ago
cissy-I love all those names...my 2 year old is Lucas CAYDEN....it would have been Cayden for the first name but his dad didn't like it! lol

cissy - 4.9 hours ago
With the doctors I don't actually know how many doctors are at the office I go at or even the hospital. I see 2 different doctors at the office and then at the hospital you have who ever is there to deliver the baby. One of my doctors came to the hospital to work a couple hours after the 2 year old was born so I ended up having some doctor that I do not even remember his name.

cissy - 4.9 hours ago
bwest- Brayden should be in my daycare I have 2 other kids that are named Hayden and Daeden. That is not a hard name to say, only if you could change her name some so she could now how it feels.

bwest - 5.7 hours ago
omg---i drank coffee this morning and Bray has NOT stopped moving since 8 this morning!! It's now 10:30 lol...

annie3 - 6.3 hours ago
ps- wouldn't have actually hit her!!!!

bwest - 6.4 hours ago
Sometime i believe he is actually grabbing a hold of one. You can see his little fist and it hurts like he**!!!! lol

bwest - 6.5 hours ago
my little one is Up and down and you can tell exactly where is is. I can only feel and see him on the right side and i swear he has bruised or broke a rib punching me. Since he is still breech!

veesalazar - 6.5 hours ago
Anyone else feel like your baby is sideways? I get hit on each side of my tummy at the same time. Its like hes laying down sideways and kicking and punching me at the same time LOL. Hubby finally got to feel our little man kick him, not just once or twice but 3 times in a row. FINALLY!

annie3 - 6.7 hours ago
bwest- my bf's mother (thankfully no relation as yet!) really bugged me when i had my first. i was breastfeeding and had a bit of post natal depression. i was worried about my baby, was she getting enough as you can't see how much they are getting. well the baby nurse was out with me and weighed her and said she was doing brilliantly already weighed more than she did at birth. she was six days old. NONE of his family had seen her or rang and asked about her. well he talked me into bringing her up to his mothers so they could all see her and all his mother done was say i should be bottlefeeding!!!! 'she's not getting enough, she's hungry you should give hera bottle. milupa was good enough for the rest of the grandkids blah blah blah' i called bf outside and told him to shut her up or i would hit her! i was so proud of myself feeding her as not many people breastfeed here, mainly older mothers and i was 21 and the nurses and midwives were so happy with me and then i had this woman telling me i wasn't doing it right!!!!

~amy~ - 6.9 hours ago
So I bought the baby doppler thing from babies-r-us yesterday! I haven't heard his heartbeat yet.. which may be because of the placenta... but I can hear his kicks and stuff. He doesn't like the doppler whenever I stick it on my stomach he kicks at it. I was balancing it on my stomach this morning trying to avoid the static sounds that my fingers make on it and he kicked it right off my belly!

~amy~ - 7 hours ago
najeen- I was very disapointed with my first doctors (4 in a group practice) after they told me that they couldn't get me in for over 2 weeks when I had a really bad yeast infection at 8 weeks pregnant - that was just the last straw. Have you considered having the birth at a birthing center vs. a home birth? I'm having a natural birth with a midwife at her birthing center.. and yes the no drugs scares me but they have so many different ways to manage pain there that I think I can do it. My midwife is covered and you have to think that a midwife birth (where I live anyways) costs a third of what you would be charged in a hospital.. and that isn't even counting a c-section birth! Maybe mention that to your insurance company (including the rate of c-section at your hopsital) while you are trying to get approved for coverage.

najeen54 - 7.2 hours ago
So I'm having a big dilemma. I'm becoming increasingly dissapointed and angry with the 3 doctors in my practice. In addition, I have learned that in 2007 the csection rate at the hospital I'm supposed to deliver at is now at 50.9%!! Insurance in the US rarely covers home births and midwifes, but I think I have found the right person who will be covered (I have to lay out the money until my insurance pays but will get preapproval and such). I never ever once thought I'd consider a home birth or even a midwife birth, but the stats in the US are awful. I already had to sign consent forms agreeing to the use of pitocin, and then to csection 'if necessary'. Expecting the baby right after new years probably increasing the chances of induction and csection, simply because docs and hospitals want time off for the holidays. Having a home birth means no epidural, which scares the hell out of me, however, I think about all the women who make it through it every day. Have any of you had a home birth? What was your experience? As a side note, the midwife we are considering is the wife of my high school track coach and is a member of my church. I couldn't think of a more caring care giver.

Hi ladies how is everyone doing?? On the topic about rude things people say...My 1st child by a previous relationship is a spitting image of me when i was his age. LOOK just like me and weigh 6 lbs 15 ozs, WELL my MIL thinks that this child is going to look JUST LIKE HIS DADDY!!! (which i wouldn't carfe until now) AND that i am going to a have a HUGE baby because Dustin(my hubby) was HUGE and had a BIG WATERMELON head!!! SOOO she says my child is going to have a HUGE head be FAT and Look just like him!! and i better be glad that i am having a C section because he was going to TEAR me up!! OK LADIES i have only gain 7 lbs for one, and i am tiny...SO i do not see so far a HUGE baby coming out!!! AND just for spite and meaness i hope this childs comes out looking just like me and my 1st child just to show her ass!!!! SHE makes me soooo mad!! I really wouldn't care if Bray came out looking like his dad but now after hearing her run her mouth EVERY single day about his size it really gets on my nerves!! AND the name thing...i wanted his name to be Brayden so when i told my MIL about it she said i can't prenounce it!!! NAME HIM SOMETHING ELSE!! I was like MY GOSH...BRAY....DEN....come on now NOT rocket scientist!! SO whenever she comes around she will say how is Broden...I AM LIKE HIS NAME IS BRAYDEN!!!!! UGH i really dislike her!

Yay, another week down!! Hello week 26.. Little Kamryn woke me up along with my alarm clock this morning. I swear she's going to be a kickboxer! :)

GOOD MORNING FELLO PREGOS!! Wow 13 weeks to go before we meet face to face with our lil soccer players/break dancers/new chapters in our lives! I'm so excited! My mom wants me to see if I can be induced on my due date or if I can pick a day close to it. January 10 is my dads birthday so that's perfect for me...I just hope he doesn't decide he wants to come sooner! Last week I told my dad that he gets to pick the baby's first name bc he wants the baby to have my initials: J.L.B. My mom jumped in and helped him pick a middle name as well. Here's what they came up with...Drum roll please....Joshua LaDarius..Cute huh?..with 13 weeks to go I'm sure someone is going to change their mind about something..as long as daddy is happy with the name, so am I! Yaye!

amynicole- shipping on a plane was the only way I could get my teacup chihuahua Molly Baby here (costly though). She came in a teenie tiny dog crate.. it was so funny we had to go to the airport, wait for her to land, and pick her up like we were picking up my sister or something.

woobies-mom - 9.1 hours ago
My baby kicks the strongest around 1030 every morning. I think its because Ive had a full breakfast and its settled in and given him a extra boost...not sure if thats truth but it sounds good haha...

amynicole - 9.2 hours ago
summababy-if i could send one thru mail without kitten getting hurt i'd send you one as soon as they were old enough.

babygnumber1 - 15.8 hours ago
I had a busy day today, spent most of the day at the mall with my sister... I got really tired! And then went to visit to my BIL's and my niece accidentally kicked me on my belly... Now i'm cramping, it kind of comes and goes and i'm also having a lot of painful BH...

stacidrake - 16.7 hours ago
Speaking of Babies R US, I went online and applied for seasonal (xmas) help, I wonder if I got hired what kind of a discount you get??

summababy - 17.1 hours ago
jessie89 - yeah it is norma. Mine does the same some days she kicks hard others not so hard. Depends on her, I also realise taht she does not kick me so much during the day if it is on a day I am not working, whereas if I am working and stress levels go up she goes stronger and more. But if it goes on for a few days maybe just mention it to your doctor.

Jessie89 - 17.5 hours ago
I havent felt my lil girl kick as hard as she usually does today.... Is that normal?

mum4the1stTime - 18.1 hours ago
Hey NicolePs I live in Australia and have seen some episodes of Garlfield trying to send Nermal in the mail and we have his comic in our paper every day I love him..Thanks Amy for responding I will talk to my midwife when I see her next as I got the report after I saw her..

NicolePS - 19.2 hours ago
hey that reminds me of the cartoon Garfield! He was always trying to send Nermal off in the mail. Prob only US people would know what I am talking about even it was years ago :P

summababy - 19.3 hours ago
amy - thanks, she was such a beuaty the thing I wil miss the most is her cuddling with me in bed while DH is still up watching TV. amynicole - you can post one to NZ for me

NicolePS - 19.3 hours ago

~amy~ - 19.5 hours ago
so babies-r-us is just a horrible place to go lol I wanted EVERYTHING! I'm going to have to go back over my list and take some things off lol

amynicole - 19.6 hours ago
my cat had 6 kittens today...dunno what we're gonna do wtih them

~amy~ - 20 hours ago
NicolePS- I was wondering the same thing.. my sister has been working clinic hours up on the baby floor at the hospital and it seems like there are a ton of preemies being born!

~amy~ - 20.1 hours ago
mum4the1sttime- Joel’s placenta is anterior.. my midwife didn’t say much about it at my last appointment so.. I’m just glad that it moved up :) it was down over the cervix amynicole- glad your baby shower went well! I registered today for mine :) was a lot of fun. summababy- I am so sorry to hear about your cat :( I was devastated when I lost my Chihuahua and had to pack her things up (kept the box in the corner so I could still see it) just to avoid breaking down all the time. I’ll be thinking about you this week!

veesalazar - 20.1 hours ago
I think its just anybody. My husbands coworkers wife went into labor and lost her twins at 21 weeks and she had 2 regular full term pregnancies before. :(

NicolePS - 20.5 hours ago
Question can anybody just go into labor and have their baby this early or is it usually people that have had pregnancy complications? It just scares me to see what seems quite a few people having their babies at 24-25 weeks.

veesalazar - 21.1 hours ago
My story happend at the hospital where I am going to have my kiddo. I was visiting a friend who had just had hers and going up to her room one of the cleaning ladies stop me and asked me who far along I was. So I told her and she said 'and your that big already, imagine when you come in to deliver you are barely going to be able to move' stupid lady! I hope she has to clean my room when I am there cuz I will make a HUGE MESS lol. jk

twinbabiesjanuary - 21.7 hours ago
jenimyers - I wasn't even a size 12 in junior high, I am VERY sensitive to being with. I'd have slit her throat with my eyeballs and words....

mollymae006 - 22 hours ago
Okay, so I have a question for you all. Does your body seem to ache a little after sex? It seems like every time we have sex that the bottom of my belly hurts. Just wondering if it was normal.

juliealisesmommy - 22.3 hours ago
so about the hormones right about now.. we just got a puppy a couple days ago for my lil girls first birthday and he is 8 weeks old. he is too cute and i love him BUT we live in an apartment so we have neighboors.. sometimes the puppy gets lonely and will pout a lil. not loudly tho, apparently our stupid old lady the lives next door likes to run her mouth and tatletel on everyone about their problems. my land lord just told me to keep my pup quiet BUT WHAT business is it of hers to whine about my pup pouting a lil bit? i was sooooo mad at her, i didnt act it bc i knew i'd be rude but o the things i wanted to say! (ps. i dont usally talk mess about older ppl bc i love them but she is 2 faced and talks about everyone and acts like she doesnt bother anyone, she also has a dog that she abuses btw!)

summababy - 22.3 hours ago
jenimyers - well tell me about it. OUr cat got killed this weekend and I spend the whole sunday crying because of it. The minute I see her stuff I burst into tears.

jenimyers - 22.4 hours ago
I've already had two babies. My daughter was my first and she was 6lbs 15oz. I gained 50lbs with her and barely showed. My son was 8lbs even, I gained 30lbs and was HUGE!!!! So...I'm expecting him to be about 8lbs. Anyways...I would have gone off on the woman but she was an older lady. I just closed my mouth out of respect and walked away. It was REALLY hard to do. Pregnancy hormones are a beast to control.

summababy - 22.5 hours ago
jenimyers - i am so glad it was not me I properly would have slapped her and tell her at least I have an excuse for my big bud and how I look. No offence to those bigger girls - I am one myself I just hate it when people judge people by their size. And also don't know if you heard this but it does not mean you are going to have a big baby if you carry big it all depends on the amount of amnotic fluid you have. I had a friend that carried quite big and her baby was so small as she had more fluid.

summababy - 22.5 hours ago
CarBel - I saw your comment to cissy regards the name thing. Well I know exactly how you feel especially with the MIL. When we started to talk about names before we knew what I was going to have I said to my DH, MIL and MIL partner that I really like the name Xander for a boy. MIL partner said to me what a F-en dumb ditchman name is that - ok I got quite offended cause I am dutch decend and told my DH after we left that it really offended me and that anyway we will decide what we like and not them. He phoned his mum and told her taht I was offended just so they know and she caused this huge fight and say that I want to come between her and her son and went on and on. Well after that I decided I wont tell anyone anyname, however me and DH decided after we found out it was a girl we love the name Joslyne and I told everyone that is what we gonna name the kid and if they don't like it they don't need to see the kid as it is not about the name they want but what we want and if they can't except it and shut their mouths they don't need to see they kid either. Well they shut their mouths now and me and DH love the name. If your MIL is not happy tell her where to fly. Good Luck and remember it is you and the partner that decide what you love for your kid stuff the rest.
