Dates and numbers:
There are 92 days until your due date on January 11, 2009.
You are 188 days pregnant.
You are 6.2 months pregnant.
You are in your 7th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: April 06, 2008 to July 05, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: July 06, 2008 to October 18, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: October 19, 2008 to January 11, 2009. (28 - 40 weeks)
By this week, your baby's crown-to-rump length is approximately 9.2 inches. Remember, that is only from the top of his head to his bottom and does not include his leg measurements! Your baby weighs almost 2 pounds and is beginning to put on weight. Your uterus is about 2.5 inches above your bellybutton and you will continue to grow approximately 1 cm each week. If you have been eating a well-balanced diet, you probably have gained about 16-22 pounds so far. Because your baby has moved further up, you may get occasional pain underneath your ribs.
After a month of having his eyelids sealed shut, your baby begins to open his eyes again this week. Your baby's eyes are almost completely developed. Your baby's eyes are blue in the womb and may change colors later in life. This is true for all races because the pupils do not have their final color until a few months after birth. However, some babies are born with darker or lighter shades of blue. Your growing baby will continue to put on layers of fat until he is born. He is still lean at this point of the pregnancy though. By the time your baby is born, he will assume the typical newborn's plumpness. Your baby's skin will still be wrinkled and red, but the fat continues to fill the skin out.
Finger and toe nails continue to grow.
Blood vessels start to develop in the lungs to prepare the baby for life outside the uterus.
Your baby's blood circulation is completely functional. The umbilical cord system continues to grow and thicken as blood travels with considerable force through the body to nurture the baby. The placenta is now almost equal in size to the baby.
Even though it is still way too soon for your baby to be born yet, the chance of survival without severe abnormalities is now 70% provided it is born in a hospital.

so i failed the 1st glucose testing and they put me on a sugar monitor and diary. i had to go see a diatician, crazy didn't even have me do the 3 hour test. anyway now i have to prick my finger 4 times a day and watch what I eat. I have only gained 12 lbs so far but i guess they are just concerned.

Last night Joel moved positions.. finally :) he was up/down for the first time ever. This morning I wake up and he's right back to side/side lol any suggestions on what I might be able to do to coax him into the right position and stay there? I ask this because I've seen what my mid-wife does during labor with a breech baby and I so DON"T want to go through that!AquaPeach -

Woot woot! Week 26, and it's a long weekend in Canada due to Thanksgiving. As much as I want to just stay home and relax, I was invited to two turkey dinners and couldn't say no to either, so it will be a busy weekend. My doctor always performs the glucose test. I'll be getting that next month.SazaUK -

Landons I know how you feel I am finding myself tired a lot as well. Feel like I could sleep the whole day through. Anything I do I have to do in short bursts and then rest for a bit because it makes me really short of breath and tired. Its really annoying when I just want to clean the house or go to work and I'm constantly yawning.emilyandbaby -

Had my dr appointment yesterday. She said she would only do a glucose test if I had immediate family with diabetes or any symptoms. I have neither so she doesn't think I need one. Fine by me! However, she called me a few hours after my appointment to say that the urine test showed I had a slight infection and some extra protein in my urine so I went back in today and so that they could take a urine culture to see what's up. I was not impressed because I only had half an hour to duck out of work and they gave me the wrong cup to pee in so I had to wait until I could pee again into the right cup and I was late getting back. I won't find out for a week the results of the culture but as I feel normal, I assume all is going to be okay with little Mara Jade. As for weight gain, I lost 2 kilos in the first trimester so I'm up 3 from my starting weight or 5 since June. ~amy~ -

I've seen several different weeks for the trimesters so I just picked the one in the book I was reading :) the 'higher-ups' really should just decide on one and set it so I won't be so confused! Anyways.. anyone elses wedding rings not fitting anymore? I have a ring with a wrap and I can't get the wrap on anymore so I'm just wearing my engagement ring around.. seem really weird not wearing the whole thing!sweetnika83 -

I also have to make an appointment for my glucose test within 2 weeks. Ugh. He also measured my uterus and it is at 27 cm? Does that mean I am 27 weeks??? For those of you wondering about the glucose test being mandatory..I asked my doc about it bc I have not history of it in my fam. and i've always been healthy etc..anyway he said it's not mandatory..they can't make you do anything...you have to be willing..anyway my doc said I didn't need to bc I'm young, thin, and healthy..however if this baby comes out big then i'll reconsider it for our next pregnancy.sweetnika83 -

My belly button is funny some days its an inny and sometimes its an outty....I think it depends on where the baby is in my stomach....Right now it looks a little weird...the top part is an outty and the bottom is an inny...lolsummababy -

Hey ladies, today is the end of my week 26, so I will be off to week 27. I just got back from doctor and he had already spoken to the specialist and has already ordered the 72 hour CVC test for my sugars; my doctor is so nice and assured me today that he was going to do everything possible to get diabetes under control. He actually wants me to eat more, sounds crazy to me, but hey I am happy with eating!! Go back next Thursday. I have gained 20 pounds so far and none of my doctor's have said a single word about it. I have asked all three of them if they thought I was gaining too much and they all three have said I am doing fine. It must be different with everyone. How much I gain I think is the least of their worries! Gotta go cook supper--YUCKmrsdenney -

Ethansmommy- last time around i asked if i was required to take the blood glucose test as it can really mess with my stomach and leave me in pain all day. he said that it was not manditory but that they highly recommend it. so i declined as he also said i didnt have any of the risk factors and showed no signs of it. this time around im not sure if he will make me do it or not. but i was told i had to do an H&H blood test and i am scared too because last time i had my blood drawn (at 16wks preggo) i about passed out as well... then when i came to i started spewing vomit everywhere... sorry if that's TMI but i wanted you to know youre not alone! summababy -

Amy: I don't know who would be doing the treatment for you but I have had Orkin since my first was a baby 3 yrs ago and they are completely safe. Safe for a child and a pregnant momma. I think the only not safe thing that they do is like flea bombs or something like that. But just ask if your having it done by a pro or if doing it yourself call the company about it w/ what ever product your using.~amy~ -

Question- two weeks ago we had people move into the town house next door and management treated the house for ants (it's been empty for months) now the ants are all over at my house! They are everywhere! The raid spray has made me sick and the gel didn't do a thing.. I'm nervous about them putting a treatment in because I am home all day and will be constantly smelling it.. but I can't take the ants anymore. Do you think the treatment would be safe?~amy~ -

Twins are actually determined by the mothers side..as there is no way the man can determine whether or not the woman releases one egg or two or more.....Identical twins is when the egg splits, which again, is not determined by the males sperm.....The man only contributes his sperm and only one sperm fertilizes an egg....this means that 2 sperm cant fertilize one egg and make twins....And fraternal twins is what is passed down as some are more prone to release more than one egg......Every woman in my family....grandmother, mother, and both sisters have all had twins..I am a twin myself and have not had a twin and not going to have any more children to find out.
To put it a bit more simply, the male only provides the sperm, whereas, the female is the one who either ovulates two eggs (fraternal twins) or one egg that splits (identical twins). That's why a woman can still inherit the hyper-ovulation gene from a grandmother, aunt, etc. on her father's side. But her father would not have had any hereditary chance of having twins himself when he had his child/children.

So I always though that acid reflux was when your throat was burning so badly that it felt like it was on fire and junk. Well I looked it up and it said for heart burn and acid reflux that it was more of a chest burning?

Went to the doctor today and baby is developing on schedule. She is 2 pounds exactly, which means she isn't getting too big, which is a concern with my high sugars. Specialist had a suggestion for my other doctor to try regarding high sugars, so I see him tomorrow and hopefully he will want to try the suggested test that should explain what is going on. Who knows. I feel much better tonight and am determined that my little girl is going to make it and hold on until she is healthy enough. I am going to try and take it easy. Good night all and thanks for all of you who keep praying. Mrsdenny--you are in my thoughts and prayers. kaykayxox -
