Dates and numbers:
There are 80 days until your due date on February 10, 2009.
You are 200 days pregnant.
You are 6.6 months pregnant.
You are in your 7th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: May 06, 2008 to August 04, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: August 05, 2008 to November 17, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: November 18, 2008 to February 10, 2009. (28 - 40 weeks)
Your baby's crown-to-rump length is approximately 10 inches and the total length of your growing baby is around 15.75 inches. Your baby weighs about 2.4 pounds at this point. Your uterus is a little more than 3 inches above your bellybutton. Your weight gain at this time should be between 17 and 24 pounds.
Blood vessel in the umbilical cord. For several months, the umbilical cord has been the baby's lifeline to the mother. Nourishment is transferred from the mother's blood, through the placenta, and into the umbilical cord to the baby. If the mother ingests any toxic substances, such as
drugs or
alcohol, the baby receives these as well!
You will probably begin visiting your caregiver once every two weeks. Week 28 is an important week for testing. You will probably be having your glucose tolerance test, an iron level test and if you are Rh negative, you should have an antibody test. The antibody test will determine if you and your baby will have any reactions to each other's blood differences. The glucose test will check for gestational diabetes.
Your baby's brain continues to develop and is now forming the folds and grooves of a fully developed brain. The amount of tissues within the brain also continues to increase in large amounts. The hair that covers your baby's scalp is also getting longer. Your baby is now large enough for presentation to be determined and your doctor might be able to find out if your baby is at risk for being breech. If your baby is breech, don't panic. There is still time for the baby to rotate.

steponroach - I love the baby food idea! I'm planning to make a lot more of my own this time. I have heard of the icecube trays before! Also have heard there are some you shouldn't make as they can loose the nutrients.. Do you know which they would be? I canned homemade apple sauce and am excited to use that too! Planning to use our Vita mix to mash and mix several veggies and fruits.. Then put them in the icecube trays and then seperate freezer bags.steponroach -

//FOR ALL YOU LADIES OUT THERE...
A great way to make your own baby food....
Bake your potatoes in the oven....boil the carrots...whatever....
Mash them up really good, add water (needs to be moist for the baby)...
Then FREEZE in ICE CUBE TRAYS.
Once frozen, take out, put in ziplock bags....
then feed you baby a 'CUBE' of potatoes, a 'cube' of carrots, ....of course...
defrost!
My soon to be pediatrician gave me the idea.dezmar123 -

I dont think I have had BH contractions..? YAY 28 weeks! flybear -

I woke myself up to whining this morning at about 5:30. BH contractions are starting to get really uncomfortable. They don't really 'hurt' but it feels like I worked out my abs at the gym for like 3hrs and the muscles are all tight and I just want to relax them but can't. So not a 'hurt' but definitely not pleasant at all. I normally find myself short of breath a lil and whining some before I realize that's what's going on. I'm only having about 2 a day or something right now though so I'm assuming this is all normal? Anyone else having them? Does that sound about right? Patty, I feel you. I had to take the 3hr GTT yesterday and I have very hard veins to get at which has over the years caused me to fear needles so it's a bad combination. I was stuck 6 times yesterday and they didn't want to keep messing up so they decided to just keep using the same vien that they seemed to be able to get at easily. My poor right arm is all bruised up. That vein is probably in shock. lolnatty1982 -

CRAP!!! I just had the worst appointment! I'd just left work and the hospital rang saying I'd missed my appointment. I checked my book, nope it said 4:15, not 2:15, the girl wrote it down wrong, so it got moved back to 5:45. I got there and drank that ghastly drink, then she did the usual checks, and the battery on the doppler was on the blink! Then I had to wait for an eternity for her to take my blood, she stuck it into my arm - no blood! she missed the vein! So another lady came in and took it from the other arm which killed, then about an hour later I had to have my Rh d injection and oh boy, I don't remember it hurting that much at 7 weeks when I had some bleeding! I actually said how sore it was and I'm not usually a needle sook. So I've got 2 sore arms and a leg right now :(Aussiemum2be -

oh boy...im totally bummed. my poor fiance had to be rushed in for surgery today to have his appendix removed. he had some pains last night and they just got worse today along with getting the chills and a high fever so we went up to the ER and it turns out it was his appendix. We've been at the hospital since noon and its 11pm now and i just got home. i would have stayed the night with him but he has a roommate in his recovery room so i couldnt. he feels great now and the surgery was a complete success so im extremely thankful!i just feel so helpless. luckily he NEVER gets sick or hurt so hes handling it really well and he's going to be discharged tomorrow so he'll be home but he cant work for at least 10 days. we havent spent a night apart in years so im gunna miss having him next to me tonight. sorry i just had to vent. i had a long worrisome day :o(Aussiemum2be -

My baby can't be diagnosed with it tommorrow, but since it runs in my family now, they can check something on his stomach or such and find a sign of it. It was scary to go through with no warning.mommykruse -

Aussiemum2be- It is hard to explain through a computer so I looked it up online to get a definition.
Pyloric stenosis is a narrowing of the pylorus, the lower part of the stomach through which food and other stomach contents pass to enter the small intestine. When an infant has pyloric stenosis, the muscles in the pylorus have become enlarged to the point where food is prevented from emptying out of the stomach.
Also called infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis or gastric outlet obstruction, pyloric stenosis is fairly common - it affects about three out of 1,000 babies in the United States. Pyloric stenosis is about four times more likely to occur in firstborn male infants. It has also been shown to run in families - if a parent had pyloric stenosis, then an infant has up to a 20% risk of developing the condition. Pyloric stenosis occurs more commonly in Caucasian infants than in babies of other ethnic backgrounds, and affected infants are more likely to have blood type B or O.

HELP!... I have been having a little dilemma (or big maybe?) But I CANNOT find a bra that fits! My boobs are so HUGE. I have been to 3 different bra stores...including Victoria's Secret... I have been measured... each store gave me a different size!! I have tried so many different sizes on and still can't find something that fits! I am so frustrated!! I was a 34 DD before pg. Now I have no idea what I am and I can't find a bra that fits let alone a nursing bra! I tried online too but I am so reluctant to spend that kind of money when I don't even know if it will fit! I could really use some suggestions and who better to ask than you guys?!?! I move to 29 weeks at some point tomorrow so if you could reply to my profile I would be soooo appreciative. Thank you ladies! Aussiemum2be -

Hello everyone! I just have a funny story to share :) My hubby and I just got back from child birth class where they had us watch a movie on labor and delivery (totally freaked out now by the way!! haha) Anyways, he always wanted it to be just the two of us in the room when I give birth. Well that was until he saw the movie! On the way home he changed his mind and now would like someone else in the room just in case he hits the floor (he turned white watching the movie) :) I keep telling him to relax..I am the one that needs to do the work! No one is going to force him to watch!! But he is so nervous now. It's so cute! blondie30 -

leniv- I have HORRIBLE heartburn all day everyday. My doc put me on prevacid and it help but I still have to chew on tums regularly. Recently I have been getting acid reflux while I sleep and I wake up to myself 'regurgitating' it makes me sooooo sick!! my doc there is nothing he can do for that, he only suggested taking liquid malox before bed so it calms the burning sensation in my throat once the regurg. starts and to sleep propped up... I hope that helps :)kaydences-mum -

Tums did not a thing for me either. Gavisgon works and my heartburn was sooo painful.
With my 1st i gained 45 pounds and i am 5ft. I had not 1 stretch mark and i lost it all nursing. My dr used to reassure me not to worry. This time i am not keeping track at all!Nikolle -

The one thing I have learned since losing my best friend when I got pregnant with my first is to not let anyone steal this joy from you. Not every woman gets to experience this blessing. Be thankful everyday and to heck with anyone who chooses not to be a part of it all. It really is their loss. liquidxx -

I used to have it so bad that as soon as i swallowed anything (including water) i reacted to it so i am now faithfully taking nexium once daily in the morning and it helps ALL day ALL day no lie. Hope that helps. P.S Tums Didn't do ShyT for me lolleniv -

Thanks ladies for the chat regarding the 'friends'. I figure if they want to ignore me and not contact me, at the end of the day it's their loss. This is a happy time in my life with my bub on the way and i'm not going to let unsupportive freinds bring me down. Although it does get lonely, I still have my growing baby and you ladies to talk to, and i'm thankful for that. :o) I have my partner too, but sometimes I don't think men get it. Or is that just me? patty76 -

Ladies, with the friends thread, I am blessed with some wonderful friends, all special for different reasons but I have lost friends along the way too, some cos I've done something I regret, and some cos they've done something I can't forgive them for. But with this new baby on the way, I know there's some that I'm going to become closer to some of my existing friends and others that may drift from but there are going to be a whole new set of people come into my life after my baby's born. I mean, just this website I have met some wonderful girls that I chat to regularly that I would never have spoken to had I not been pregnant at this exact stage... What's that saying about friends that come into your life for either a reason, season or a lifetime? I truly believe that! :)pregalicious mami -

allrass- I too am dealing w.excess weight gain. I have gained 29 lbs so far and although that may not seem like alot, I'm only 5 feet tall and it's taking a toll on my body and I'm having hip problems and had to go see a specialist and do stretching exercises and they're talking about induction. This is the most weight I've put on w.all my pregnancies and it's mainly in my bottom half so I've been having trouble walking. I sympathize with you girl!allrass730 -

I was staying right on track with how much weight I was supposed to be gaining but from my 6 month check up on, my weight has sky rocketed and I've now gained about 35 lbs. My GD tests were borderline and so I had to see a dietician and go on a diet where almost all the foods that I love have been practically elimintated (I can have them in moderation but that word seems to no longer exist in my life). Since they've told me I need to start eating like this, it's like my cravings are getting even stronger and consisting of more junk food. I don't know what to do. I quit smoking for the pregnancy and I'm sure that has a little to do with the weight gain but I'm starting to feel really bad about myself and I was just wondering if anyone else is dealing with this kind of stuff as well. I've struggled with my weight my whole life and now I feel like I can't stop eating! I'm scared that if I am one of those women that gain 50+ lbs during their pregnancy, that I'll never get the weight off.arcs33 -

I have been really lucky in the friend department. I have only lost one but that is a tricky situation. She got divorced from my husbands best friend and since he's not going to stop hanging out with him and I'm not willing to stop hanging out with my husband.....She said it was to painful knowing that I hang out with her ex-husband and his new girlfriend. Her choice though and nothing I can do. I have so many other supportive friends and I feel very blessed. I'm sorry for you ladies that have found out who your 'true' friends are and how lonely it can be. My family lives very far from me and I feel very lonely without them especially now that a baby is coming! I want my mommy...lol!Taylin-N-Alyssa -

I've been lucky to have ONE friend that even though she just had her baby a month ago, she is in contact with me. So we still compare notes, so to speak, and she has been supportive. But that's about it. I joined this board for that support. I found it! It's sad when you realize that a friendship isn't a true one. It's all about them and not a two-way street. I'm really picky about that stuff. So, yes, very few good friends and those I tend to keep close. :) arcs33 -

luvmybumpxoxo -i feel the same way about my friends. Most of them dont talk to me anymore,i guess they are not really good friends. One i was with her during her entire pregnancy, also got a friend who stole a guy from me and some who just needs me if they wanna borrow money.Oh well who needs so-called friends if they're just got stress us out. I have few friends but most are not near my area,I would get to talk to couple of them every now and then.
As for the baby,i dont feel that big at all, most people tell me that Im kinda small for 28 week,i dont waddle yet.Like most of you, Im also having a hardtime sleeping. Been worrying on how i'll survive having a child by myself. Im sure ill be just fine. This baby has a reason for coming into my life. To all of you here, thank you coz you all help keep me sane. I love checking messages here,i dont feel that alone.luvmybumpxoxo -

BAH!! Can't sleep a wink tonight even though the night is still young (10.30pm Aust time). I can't get comfortable at all. If i lay on my side it feels like my belly is really heavy and being pulled, even with the pillow between my legs. I can't even get my pillows comfy for my head to lay on. On top of that i'm pissed off at few things today, regarding family. They go on with so much shit and im sick of hearing it. I'm feeling a little lonely to as my friends don't contact me anymore and i was always there for them to talk to through there pregnancy's, but there not here for me to talk to. It makes me feel like they used me until something better come along! Oh well, i'll get over it! Some friends come and go, then you find out who your true friends are, right?. I'm just having a crap day and night! Hope fully I will sleep after getting that off my mind! Aussiemum2be, thats a good idea about wearing a mask to try and stop the fumes. I'm still unsure though.

first of all... i am hugeeeee sooo huge that when i take pictures of myself i cant believe it. but i love it for sure. its slowing me down like you wouldn't believe.
i am so over any kind of work. i feel like i wake up everyday and anything i had cleaned or straightened up is just as messy as it was to begin with and i just have to do it all over. like 1 day can really make things that messy. oh and not to mention that its 5:30AM and i have been up since 3:30AM. ill be too tired to function here in about an hour so ill probably end up sleeping till about 10 or 11AM which makes me wake up in a panic that i have to do a ton of stuff. its wild.
speaking of being huge again ive gained 30 pounds. i cant completely figure out where it all is, but im guessing my boobs, legs and butt. and not to mention the massive child i must be growing haha. i dont mind the weight gain at all. i get a good laugh when i see some of the moms say... well ive gained a total of 8 pounds. hahaa no offense at all. its just weird to find myself gaining so much and not really knowing where it is. patty76 -

Yeah I'm massive - I'm waddling like a duck! Also copped a really strong kick in the ribs today, it took my breath away! Hey is anyone else completely over work? Hello to all! First day in week 28 for me! Went to the doc last Monday and all is fine - looks like a long baby. I cannot believe that in 12 weeks he'll be here - where did the time go?? I am now on iron supplement - anyone else taking it and noticing digestion problems?
I also laugh at everything - I always used to laugh a lot, but now even more so. The most stupidest things can provoke the giggles with me - and it's been like that throughout the whole pregnancy! I've sterted to notice the extra weight I'm carrying (15kg) and I'm more tired since a week. Funny how it happened exactly at the last trimester, so accurate! The doc has forbidden me chocolate and pastries and that with x-mas coming up, haha), cause of so much weight gain. But to be honest I've not been sporting much lately... Lotes of love to all! About the glucose test... Here in the Netherlands they don't do it routinely, but only if there is high blood pressure. They don't check the urine either. When I asked to do the glucose test anyways my midwife agreed, but it was only a blood test, no sugar drink involved. I guess each practice has their own preferences.luvmybumpxoxo -
