Dates and numbers:
There are 48 days until your due date on February 25, 2009.
You are 232 days pregnant.
You are 7.6 months pregnant.
You are in your 8th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: May 21, 2008 to August 19, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: August 20, 2008 to December 02, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: December 03, 2008 to February 25, 2009. (28 - 40 weeks)
Your baby weighs about 4.4 pounds at this point. The crown-to-rump length of your baby is approximately 12 inches and the total length is around 19.4 inches. Measuring from the top of your uterus to your bellybutton is 5.2 inches. Total weight gain at this point of pregnancy is usually 22 to 28 pounds.

With the exception of crying, your baby is capable of doing everything that a newborn baby will do. Your baby is restricted now inside of the uterus, but still can kick and move. Your baby sleeps a lot of the time, just as newborn babies do. Your baby's eyes move in the manner of REM sleep and researchers believe that babies can dream vividly in uterus. When your baby is awake, she is listening, feeling and learning. There are billions of neurons in the brain that make trillions of connections. Your baby will probably have settled into the birth position by now and your caregiver can most likely tell which way your baby is presenting. If your baby were to be born now, the lungs would probably be strong enough to function properly, but your baby may still need extra care from specially trained doctors and nurses.
During these last few weeks of pregnancy, most women experience an increased urge to urinate. The uterus puts a lot of pressure on the bladder and can send you to the restroom frequently. Your uterus has actually grown 500 times throughout your pregnancy! Red blood cell production catches up with the production of plasma and physiological anemia may begin to fade at this time.
Your baby's eyes open during alert times and close during sleep. The eye color is usually blue, regardless of the permanent color as pigmentation is not fully developed. The final formation of eye pigmentation requires exposure to light and usually happens a few weeks after birth.

Right under my chest, I am always numb like pins and needles. My dr said it could be that my little girl is on a nerve. Has anyone else experienced this? It is like the top of my tummy has fallen asleep. It is really uncomfortable. tracy6207 -

How's everyone's BP doing? I just got back from MW check and mine is 130/70 which isn't shocking apparently and she wasn't too worried about the top number being high as I've been under a lot of stress lately but she said the lower number should be going down and it isn't, but 'nothing to worry about' since my sample was fine and I have no other symptoms of Pre-E. But you DO worry don't you? So what happens if the bottom one doesn't lower? Is it dangerous? I'm getting rechecked in 10 days but this new info and a few palpitations are scaring me a bit which she also said to see GP about if they continue. All been so good so far, I'd be gutted if it all went tits up now! Bernice777 xluckywhite -

I am now looking at buying a swing for the baby. We also want a seat that has vibration. I found a Graco swing that does both, vibrate and swing. I was wondering if it is a good idea to get the swing that does both which is more expensive or to get a swing and one of those seperate bouncers for the baby that vibrates? Any thoughts? What are you doing? gemzc -

My little guy seems to be right in the middle. Neither left nor right. I feel the most movements up by where ur ribs start to come together. If he's in the correct position for delivery, then what I should be feeling is his feet pushing up by my ribs. And when he hiccups I feel them down in my lower abdomen. 1stbabywatson -

Among the many old wives tales we have here, the most believed is that boys prefer the right side and girls prefer the left side. My baby curls on on the left too and I am wondering if there is any truth in this tale. Other mommies too, please tell me your experience regarding this. I am really curious now as to whether I am having a boy or a girl.feb2009 -

Hi everyone. I slipped and fell on the stairs tonight:( I started leaking fluid and had to go the the birthing centre. They monitored me and baby for 3 hours. I also had an internal exam. They are unsure if my water is leaking or not. I am 1 cm dialated though. I have to take things easy and go back if I notice any more fluid. I see my regular OB tomorrow so I'm sure she'll have some good advice. So far I'm still going to Metallica on the 13th!! I just won't be carrying any more laundry up and down the stairs! My BF already said he'll take over the difficult chores, and my Mom will come over to clean my bathroom and stuff. Anyway wish me luck that nothing else happens! I want my baby girl to stay in there at least another 2-3 weeks!!first babyboy -

KL2~ I'm just peeking ahead from week 32... I won't be 33 weeks until Thursday but wanted to tell you that I've already dropped as well. Just this past week... he's much lower & putting lots of pressure on my cervix. But the doc says it's okay... that it's normal and he doesn't expect me to go any sooner because of it. I don't understand why it doesn't necessarily cause you to go sooner because you would think that more pressure would equal a weaker cervix. None of it really makes any sense to me. I'm going to pack my bags this weekend just incase he comes early and then I guess we'll just hang out and wait for him to make his debut. :) Hope you're all enjoying week 33!MommyKourtneyandPrincess -

Jodi-I like the name Carly. Its cute but edgy, and not over used.
MC KING- My sister was told she would have a 9 lb. baby and so when they did her c section her cut was large and she endedup having a little 7 lb baby..she was upset that they cut her so large and the baby ended up being small..When the Docs do the external check for wright they compare it to a 5 lb bag of sugar to estimate..some people are just larger and so it can be off..my sister looked like she was carrying a large baby but she has always been alittle thicker (as she calls it) normally. Im not saying thats the case for all women but in her case thta mightve been what made them think her baby was going to be big. Anywho..my carseat was shipped in to the store today! yay!! So i have to pick it up tomorrow..seeing it is just going to make this feel that much more real. Im excited but scared at the same time about how close its getting. Either way ladies..its fast approaching from here on out.

KMO-I was told my baby was going to be quite large, I am measuring two weeks ahead, which lead them to believe she will be a 'difficult delivery' (thanks a lot, that doesn't make me nervous or anything!) but anyway my MD says ultrasounds are too unreliable to actually predict the babies size at this rate b/c it has to do with height/weight of mother, etc. I dunno if your MD is the same but I won't have another ultrasound the rest of the time, havent had one since 20 weeksKL2 -

Has anyone dropped? Does that mean you will deliver early? My boss swears that I have dropped. I am also pretty sure that I lost part of my mucas plug, though I am not entirely sure. It was not tinged at all with color, but it was a huge glob of clear and white. Grossness I know. I know that doesn't really mean a whole lot either though.smmom2b -

Hey Ladies.. This is my first day in week 33 and I have a question. I think my lil guy is going to be not so little. My husband was over 11 lbs and I was over 9 lbs and I feel like he is huge already. I havent had an ultrasound since my 20 week appointment and I wonder how the doctor will know if he is too big. Will I just have to push until he doesnt come out?? I've thought about going ahead and having the 4D ultrasound done so that we can see how big he is, so we have an idea at least. We had originally ruled out doing the 4D b/c we could use that money for something else, but I'm scared to death I am going to be trying to push out a 10 lb or larger baby and I am pretty small framed. Is ultrasound the only way to get an estimate of the baby's size? What would ya'll do? I forgot to mention, my dad was a 13 lb baby and I have an uncle who was 15lbs. Large babies run in my family!!! LOL! babyblues -

Hello ladies! I have been experiencing these tingling sensations in my belly. Sometimes I think they are braxton's. Have you guys been experiencing them more often now? If it continues or happens again should I go to the emergency room? Im jsut getting a little nervous. I don't want my little muffin butt coming sooner that he is suppose to..bernice777 -

lol good to read I'm not the only one missing out on the 'action' though. I'm not frustrated, just angry...how bad can it be for gods sake!! They new it was coming and seen enough preggo women before! Well that's OK, just remember to return the favour & ignore THEM when they look like they may've put on a few pounds or not taken very good care of themselves lately. Make them feel inadequate and unwanted! You probably guessed I'm hating men right now! lolbernice777 -

Hey ladies. Anyone in the same boat here?? If one more person blames MY hormones for my partners selfish uncaring ways lately I'm gonna probably NOT scream as that'll be my hormones right? lol My fella seems to be getting off easy these days. I can't remember the last time I had a hug or anything 'close' for that matter. He barely looks at me or talks to me which ruined xmas and new year, the year of our first baby. He's keeping me at a safe distance & despite all my efforts to try and resolve, he remains cold. We've been together 15years and a child is all he's ever wanted! I've never cried so much and I feel sad for the baby whenever I do. He's never been strong with emotions & I know how men can be but I'm not sure I can forgive him for going this far at what should be the most special time of our lives. Why the hell would I want him at the birth now? What use is he gonna be when he can barely look at me let alone touch me? I'm very scared for our future right now *sigh* Here's hoping your partners are much more supportive than mine. New year blessings to you all, B7xmommydearest -

my babys constant movements make me so naucious..and im always sore and in pain...and of couse the BH contractions are annoying as heck. lol..the baby will stretch its feet into my ribs and then i feel prsssure from its head on my pelvis..she's actually doing this right now. I dont see how she can possibly fit in there muhc longer. I too have been having mucus plug chunks come out..but just a little bit at a time. Mostly when i get alot of BH contractions i will have some come out. Anywho..hope all is well with all of you mommas!machen -

babyblues--my boys movements have slowed down too. Instead of the dramatic 'kicks' I'm getting squirmy feelings that are a little more subtle. I think it's normal for the movements to slow down as the little ones run out of room. Try not to worry too much. Keep track of the movements, though and let your caregiver know.babyblues -

Has anyone else felt less movements this past week? Not sure if I should be worried or not. I mean she must be squished and cramped for room but I'm not sure. She used to move alot and now its about cut in half :(

nikki - was it a jelly-like substance that came out? I lost a part of mine and it looked like a hunk of vaseline mixed with a bit of blood. Apparently, the whole plug is quite large so if you lost the whole one, you would know!
As for a good nights sleep, it's a distant memory for me too. I don't sleep for more than 1.5 to 2 hrs at a time. I have to get and pee and then I can't find a comfortable position again, so it's a constant battle all night. Thankfully I have a home office so if I need to close my eyes during the day, I can. I just want baby to come so I can sleep, but that makes no sense really b/c he will keep me up too and then I have to try to get the 2 of us back to sleep, not just me. I guess I should just give up the dream of a good sleep for the unforseeable future...
