Dates and numbers:
There are 54 days until your due date on March 02, 2009.
You are 226 days pregnant.
You are 7.4 months pregnant.
You are in your 8th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: May 26, 2008 to August 24, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: August 25, 2008 to December 07, 2008. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: December 08, 2008 to March 02, 2009. (28 - 40 weeks)

By week 32, your baby weighs nearly 4 pounds! The crown-to-rump length of your baby is approximately 11.7 inches and the total length is about 18.9 inches. Your uterus is now 5 inches above your bellybutton. Some doctors do not see their patients every other week until now. So, if you were going to the doctor monthly, you may begin going once every other week now.

Sleeping boy. the baby sleeps 90-95% of the day, and sometimes experiences REM sleep, an indication of dreaming.

Now that your baby has grown so long and your uterus is higher, you might notice a new discomfort. Your baby is probably head-down and may occasionally stretch out and kick you in the ribs. The pressure on your rib cage can make you sore, especially if one of your baby's feet becomes caught. You can prevent this by sitting up straight as much as possible. Because your baby's demands for vitamins and minerals are higher than ever right now, you should continue to take your parental vitamins for the entire pregnancy.

This week your baby's movements will peak. You should continue to monitor the fetal movements daily and address any concerns with your caregiver. The wrinkles in your baby's face are disappearing and fat is still being deposited throughout the baby's body.

The body growth slows down from now on.

Because of the lack of space in the uterus, the legs are drawn up in what is known as the fetal position.

As a preparation for breastfeeding, your baby has learned to root for the breast. The baby will turn its head if touched on the cheek and open its mouth if the bottom lip is tickled. By this time the baby can also suck and swallow in a coordinated way.

Ok, I'm going out to dinner now. I have to take DH to Claim Jummper for his birthday. I'll see you tomorrow.

lilmamaaua - 9 minutes ago
Good plan Prettyp. Regarding the whole Wendys thing, I don't wanna know!! I am not a chilli girl but am a fan of the chicken burgers and baked potatoes with sour cream.. yum now am hungry again!

prettypenny - 14 minutes ago
miriam....oh NOOOOOOOO! Not the chili!

prettypenny - 15 minutes ago
lilmama, I was wondering the exact same thing! Maybe someone who has already had a baby in the NICU knows? Maybe we could ask the question in the Q&A section?

miriampnut - 16 minutes ago
lol penny i dont wana badmouth wendys but i know someone that works there...lets just say...don't eat the chili...i used to love it too...not anymore!

lilmamaaua - 20 minutes ago
I wondered about maternity leave policies. If someone was to deliver a few weeks early and the bub was in the nicu, would that mean that the mother was expected to go back earlier than her original dates of her maternity leave?

lilmamaaua - 22 minutes ago
gsummer they only do it if they have any concern or reason to. I get them done for kidney issues and some people get them done if they have too much protein in their regular pee tests. My urine tests always come back with protein levels over 1000 and they should be less than 300! It's just because my kidneys are spilling them into the urine but my haemoglobin levels in my bloods are ok.

prettypenny - 28 minutes ago
Lilmama, I bet your Dr will try to induce you before then...just so they can go on vacation. =(

gsummertime - 31 minutes ago
kara, you didnt have an U/S at 20 weeks?? only at 12 weeks?? thats kinda odd, yes?? also, whats this 24 hr urine test everyone is talking about?? do we all do that?? Ive not heard of it. I do pee every time I go to the dr.

prettypenny - 31 minutes ago
Jennys, your heart is normally a little slanted to the left. I'm not sure it moves that much during pregnancy but I know your lungs sure get compressed due to the diaphram being pushed up. Makes it really hard to breath! ....I wonder if that is why I'm constipated? I always get constipated right before my period and then once it starts(or by the 2nd day) boom diarrhea. So then does everyone else who have hormonal BM issues get diarrhea before their periods??

lilmamaaua - 32 minutes ago
I bet I have just jinxed myself now by posting that suggestion and I will be the bitter one sitting on my ass alone in week 41 twiddling my thumbs!

jennys - 39 minutes ago
actually some women get loose BM's just before their periods and labor it's the bodies way of clearing it's self out your absoulutly right..ok one more thing while I'm on hte subject then I'm outta here I got an upset stomach the other night and my belly was rumbling and I was in the bathroom all night but instead of the rumbling down low where I normally have those sounds coming from they where coming from just under my breastbone and down the left side, I remembered the talk a few weeks ago about our organs being displaced and squished around to make room for the baby..guess it's true. I once seen something on the discovery channel that said your heart actually is pushed so it is laying sideways rather than up and down but all the other organs pushing up... it's amazing all the changing our bodies do while we are pregnant

lilmamaaua - 40 minutes ago
Oh wow Prettyp!! Really!? That is so exciting!! I'd rather have him wait in there a few more weeks to make sure he's all ok but I definitely feel more and more at ease about things now. I watched a baby story today and a woman delivered at 28 weeks and the baby stayed 7 weeks in the nicu and then was home. I think once we reach the 35 week mark it might be fun to start a pool within our week on who might be next to pop! Think we should wait until we're a few weeks further on and then we can relax more and not freak anyone out! What do you think?

prettypenny - 40 minutes ago
Jennys, that is cool that your lab/dr gave you a 'Hat' (the thing that sits under your toilet seat lid with cc's and oz on it and has a pour spout on it) I wasn't as lucky. Those red beer cups hold 16oz and I filled up at least 1 1/2 in the morning. I was shocked! I was also dehydrated when I took that darn test. My pee was almost orange! pretty crazy.

prettypenny - 49 minutes ago
Thanks. I read that diarrhea around this time is pretty normal. It is the body's way of getting ready for labor. I have the opposite problem due to bedrest(normal). It freaks me out whenever I have to poop because I'm already dialated and effaced. I keep picturing him falling into the toilet whenever I go(now that is TMI). I wonder when we're going to start delivering? If we deliver now the babies would still have to be in the NICU but should do really well and might even be out of the hospital in 2 to 3 weeks. Although I still would really like to wait until 34 weeks when he might just come straight home!

jennys - 50 minutes ago
they always give me a neat little collection thing that fits under the seat of the toilet when I do my 24 hour urine, it's marked in oz. who knew after putting it off one night and not getting up to pee until I was about to burst I peed 26 oz!! lol...and those jugs are huge but I've filled one of those up plus another small cup once. I did one of those at the beginning of this pregnancy nad my creatine(spelling?) level was @ 350 ..normal is between 200and 300 I think he told me ..so he said your kidneys work great, better than most and you pee a lot!... but I could have told him that without taking the test =) well it's 9:30 here my Husbnad is back to work after 2 weeks off , my 5 year old is watch word world dvd going to sleep and my 13 month old is cry himself to sleep I go back in every 3-5 minutes and lay him back down but he is a fighter, I have to get him sleeping well alone before the baby comes or I'm gonna be really stressed out... I think he's stopped so I'm going to bed now too... good night

lynz40 - 55 minutes ago
Ugh I just got home after working 8 hrs and then sitting in class for 3 :( I'm so tired! I hope I can get a good nights sleep so I am not dead at work tomorrow. In class, Avery was moving around like crazy...but it's definitely different movements...more like a wavelike/rolling sensation or something. Anyone else feel that their baby's movement has changed? It's like she is having a mini spasm in there lol

lilmamaaua - 1 hours ago
Prettyp I think a lot of people this week have definitely noticed changes. This guy is definitely down lower and seems to be balled up and laying very low down. I also feel the pressure lower down and I need to pee constantly and also I've had diahorrea(tmi sorry) quite a bit and have a very frequent need to poop during the past two days. Sorry for all of the detail, it's almost as if my body is clearing itself out of everything that was backed up to make more room for him.

prettypenny - 1 hours ago
LOL lilmama, I can just see him drinking....yuck. How do you explain THAT one.

lilmamaaua - 1 hours ago
Good thinking batman! I have some of those somewhere. The container is kind of like a large juice bottle and is sitting in the door of the fridge. I had to tell bf that it is not juice as he has a habit of drinking from the cartons in the fridge! Now that would be something!

prettypenny - 1 hours ago
Anyone else think that their babies have dropped? I swear I have gotten fatter and I really feel him in my pelvis whenever I cross my legs, stand up or even when laying on my side. Sleeping is getting so much harder to do.

prettypenny - 1.2 hours ago
When I had to do my 24hr urine test I found that peeing in one of those big red throw away cups(think college beer cup) was the best way to do it. They are flexible and you don't dribble =) I had to do that in the first trimester for a baseline test due to my chronic high blood pressure.

lainyj - 1.3 hours ago
thanks lil' I needed to hear that, Ive been feeling down since my appointment.

prettypenny - 1.4 hours ago
I've been going to my NST since week 28. My tummy has had to be zapped a couple of times because the baby sleeps during that time. They really aren't so bad, and since I'm still on bed rest it gives me something to do besides reading.

jennys - 1.5 hours ago
last pregnancy I got so use to going in laying there for 30 minutes at a time 3 times a week listening to the babys heart beat that I asked them to lower the blinds and turn off the lights I would rest, hey it wasn't the beach or a spa but it was a few minutes alone

jennys - 1.5 hours ago
U/s sounds are not always 100% accurate either ladies ..thy told me at 37 weeks last pregnancy that my baby would be 11-12 lbs and was really long he was 10lbs 1oz, which was big but they where off my a whole pound and 21' which is pretty normal. and my SIL was told her baby would be about 7 lbs at birth and he was 8lbs 14oz... my NST start at 34 weeks and I'll starting going twice a week at that point... NST are pretty easy make sure you eat something and drink before you go, you recline on the bed and they put 2 straps around your belly that has a monitor on it which is attached to a machine that prints out a paper with the babies heart rate and your uterine contractions. and they give you a button to push when you feel movement. they care checking to make sure the baby is moving enough and that the heart rate doesn't drop when you have contractions or after movement which could signal distress. if the baby isn't moving enough they will give you some water to drink or juice and if that doesn't work they 'zap' you belly with this little shocker thing..which I had done once and I hated it... the baby freaked out and got the hiccups.

prettypenny - 1.5 hours ago
Hey now, no bagging on Wendy's...they are one of the only fast food places I go too =) Yummy chili and potatoes.

lilmamaaua - 1.7 hours ago
lainyj the u/s can often be off when estimating size and weight so don't worry at all. You should be proud that you are looking after yourself and feeding your little bub so that he/she is growing nicely. I'm sure if the docs were concerned at all they would have mentioned something so be proud mama!

lilmamaaua - 1.8 hours ago
lol Bonbon they did! For once!!

lainyj - 1.8 hours ago
I had an ultrasound today and they said baby was weighing 4 lbs 10 oz - and then she said I would have a big baby, and baby was measuring 1 week and 5 days ahead! I wanted to cry I felt like I had done something wrong. What is everyone else measing at?

Bonbon81 - 1.8 hours ago
Lilmamaaua did Wendys at least get your order right? haha

Ina - 1.8 hours ago
Claudja, I just realized we have the same due date. Are you delivering at women's?

amber242 - 2.7 hours ago
week 32 woo hoo time is going fast, which I love. Can't wait to meet little Elijah

lilmamaaua - 3.2 hours ago
ok so how important is collecting every pee in the 24 hour period? I am doing the 24 hour test today and went to get takeout with the bf. Well We also had to go to his parents house and then drop dvds back to the store and by the time we got to Wendy's I couldn't hold it any longer and had to run in and pee. Will it make much of a difference?

juno - 3.5 hours ago
claudja I am the same way it takes almost nothing to leave me completely exhausted!

KaraleeM - 3.6 hours ago
jennys-Yes, I did pass my GD test on the first try. He said it was close, though. I'm hoping for lots of fluid, not a large baby, but as long as he/she is healthy.......The doctor is pretty relaxed about it all, but I can't help but wonder about a difference that big when I was right on at 12 weeks. My weight gain has been okay. I started at 192 at 8 weeks (I'm 5'6, size 14 to start), dropped to 183, and am now back up to 207. It's all in my tummy, too!

claudja - 4 hours ago
I feel like I ran a marathan and all I did was walk up the steps! whew

Ashley1562 - 5 hours ago
lil i feel your pain. I was up all night and i couldnt sleep and then my stomach back and side started hurting. I didnt close my eyes until 5am and i was right back up at 8 wide awake i went back off and on but it didnt do anything for me. UGH i just hope these weeks come along

cheyenne - 5.4 hours ago
Karalee- Wow I never heard of such a big difference. At 32 weeks I was measuring 35 but by my next appt. I was only measuring 1 week ahead and at my last appt I was right on. So, it really isnt 100% accurate. I would be pushing for an ultrasounds before 37 weeks though. Are you absolutely positive of your LMP?

juno - 5.4 hours ago
Karalee I'm measuring 3 weeks ahead and my dates are right too so I may be having a bigger baby -- I don't know. I kind of want to ask for another u/s just to check in on the little guy. If I were you I would definitely request an u/s now so you don't worry for the next 5 weeks!

stargazer530 - 5.5 hours ago
lynz - Sounds like he was going to do the 24 hr study just to double check because of your BP. I would tell you not to worry, but I know that's impossible. I am sure everything's fine tho. We have so much more blood and fluids and stuff going on. The pre-e says the big sign is swelling in your hands and face. I would watch for those. And if you still don't feel reassured, talk to your doctor. Better to ask and get an explanation than to keep quiet and worry. :)

lynz40 - 5.6 hours ago
Star- They check my urine every time I go in and it has been fine (except once when my appt. was at 8:30 in the am and didn't have enough time to drink water) He mentioned the 24 hr urine test but then cancelled it when my BP went down at the end of my appt. Holly- I have heard of the NST but what exactly do they do? My dr didn't mention it...just mentioned having another U/S.

holly222 - 5.8 hours ago
lynz...my b/p at the last appt on the 29th was 152/72 and then it went down a little it has been fluctuating, i have been going last week and this week to get a non stress test to monitor the baby's heart and make sure that their isnt any fluctuations in her rate, so far so good and he just told me to take it easy, he put me off work as of 12-10-08 due to my job being a hospice nurse its hard to bend and roll and or lift patients, so basically he said just relax rest take it easy let people wait on you..haha poor fiance.. i said its doctors orders u have to wait on me! but my pressure has been good 130s /70s so he is pleased i called him with my log i have been keeping of it at home! hope everything goes well with you!!

lilmamaaua - 5.9 hours ago
I'm doing a 24 hr urine test today and let me tell you, it is so much harder to pee in the container at this stage! Baby is sitting on my bladder and everytime I go to the fridge, pick up the container, take it to the bathroom, hover over it and then... dribble!

babymomma143 - 5.9 hours ago
lynz40- I am measuring very small. I have GD and the ysent me in last wek for another ultrasound to make sure baby isn't big. It's just the opposite. She is small. Right at 32 weeks she weighed 3lbs3oz. She was supposed to weigh more like 4lbs. they say she is in the 20th percentile. They are worried and say that if she goes down to the 10th percentile then that is called an IUGR (interuterine growth restriction) baby. they said they may hospitalize me if that happens. I have an appointment scheduled twice a week for the next 8 weeks. They say she is where she is supposed to be right now developmentally just small. So if you are measuring only 1 or 2cm off, I would think you are ok. Good luck.

mummynadette - 5.9 hours ago
I had my appointment today, everyone seems to be concerned about the BP mine today was 140/80. My doctor said that was fine although it was a little bit higher then two weeks ago. Nothing to worry about so far.

jennys - 6.1 hours ago
karlee yeah that's odd they haven't ordered you another U/S yet hum... either it's twins, you have uncontrolled GD which I doubt because you pasted your sugar test right? or you have a lot of amniotic fluid . my last baby was a 10lb baby and even with him I only measure 3 weeks ahead. probably just fluid ..and it's better to have too much than too little

stargazer530 - 6.2 hours ago
lynz - measuring +/- a week or so is normal from what I have been told. My BP has been 135 or so over 90 every time I see the doctor - what was your pre-pregnancy/ in your first trimester? Have you done a 24 hr study before? My doctor did one early to get a baseline on what's normal for me - I had to do it in the first trimester. Do they check your urine every time you go in?

monjadety - 6.3 hours ago
wow karlee.. those measurements astounding... I would ask my dr too for another ultrasound

lynz40 - 6.3 hours ago
Thanks jennys...I guess I am just a worry wart to begin with (and this is my 1st child lol) but I feel that my dr is very lax...but I trust that he will do whatever he feels necessary. I just can't wait for my U/S but definitely a little bit nervous because I had it set in my mind that I wasn't getting anymore so now I hope everything is ok.
