Dates and numbers:
There are 155 days until your due date on April 26, 2009.
You are 125 days pregnant.
You are 4.1 months pregnant.
You are in your 5th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: July 20, 2008 to October 18, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: October 19, 2008 to January 31, 2009. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: February 01, 2009 to April 26, 2009. (28 - 40 weeks)

Your baby's weight has doubled in two weeks and now weighs about 3.5 ounces! The crown-to-rump length of your growing baby is 4.4 to 4.8 inches. If you spread your hand out opened wide, you can see about how big your baby is.
Your uterus is moving up and is now approximately 1.5 to 2 inches below your navel. You are showing more now and there is a noticeable swelling in your abdomen. At this point in your pregnancy, a 5 to 10 pound weight gain is normal. Other people can probably feel the difference in your lower abdomen if they were to rub your tummy. To be the most comfortable, you should be wearing maternity clothes or clothing that is too large for you. You may have felt your baby move already. However, you might not feel it move every day at this point. As your pregnancy progresses, movements become stronger and more frequent. Feeling your baby move can help reassure you that your baby is doing well. You might also notice that your gums or nose bleed occasionally. This is from the increased blood volume that puts pressure on small blood vessels and capillaries.
Huge changes continue to take place within your developing baby. This week fat begins to form and will continue to do so until he is born. Fat is important to the body's heat production and metabolism. Right now, at 17 weeks, water makes up about 3 ounces and fat 0.018 ounces of your baby's body. In a baby at term, fat makes up about 5.25 pounds of the total average weight of 7.7 pounds. The placenta is continuing to grow at an amazing rate. The placenta will continue to develop in tandem with the fetus and it will weigh more than a pound at birth! By this week, the placenta is large and well established with a network of blood vessels that exchange nutrients and waste.

The eyes are facing more forward. The ears are now close to their final position.
Your baby is more flexible with ability to move head, mouth, lips, arms, wrists, hands, legs, feet, and toes.
Fingerprints are forming now.

Chava81- Funny ypu say that about names! I think if it is a girl, we are going with Ava, or Isabella! The boy name is already agreed with! Well this lil one is always moving around at night, last night it was kicking and moving, during the day, not so much movement...that will have to change by birth day! lolaugustbaby07 -

mame3-It could be nothing but I do recommend you call your doctor. I started bleeding two weeks ago and I went to the emergency room where they diagnosed me with placenta previa. It's good that I know about it so my doctor can monitor it. If it doesn't resolve I have to have a c-section. So get check out. It could just be something very small or it could be something serious. They also checked me to make sure that I didn't have an incompetant cervix.mame3 -

I've never heard that peanuts can cause asthma, but I heard it can cause peanut allergies. In fact I was told to try not to eat any nut or popular allergy food in excess while pregnant.babyhilton -

Lol girls names were easier for us...honestly I went through school with a name that a lot of others had it wasn't too bad easy to joke around with fun to have friends with ur name lol at least in hs. I'd suggest stay away from names that sound a lot like other words the word calcium always got me cuz my names kelsey and the calci part killed me in chemistry!
On another note...is anyone else having breathing problems? I've been having a hard time getting all the air I feel I needchava81 -

Ha! My hubby did he same thing with the boys names on girls! And also with all the Aaden, Jaden, Caden names that seem to be so popular right now. I want something normal, but not really popular for a girl. I really like Ava, but I think its too popular right now. I dont wantmy kid to be in class and have 15 girls with the same name as her, but I dont want her to have a weird name like mine either. AHHHHHH!!! Hopefully it will be a boy and this whole discussion will be pointless =)kmb09 -

I eat nuts...lol I had never heard of any such thing that u can't... As for girl names we picked out alyson nicole for our girl name but I really like boys names on girl like Kodi or Kori I just like em cuz they're different but my fiance put a big NO stamp on those lolchava81 -
13.2 hours ago
Oh and a few more things... We are trying to pick out girls names too, and having horrible times with it, so any suggestions are great! And second, whats the deal with eating peanuts or peanut butter? I like to eat almonds to get the extra protein from them, but everytime someone sees me with them, they say something about eating peanuts while pregnant can lead to athsma in the baby later. What do you guys think? I havent heard this discussed in any books or anything....chava81 -

It sounds like Emily, but bigger odds have been beaten! Either way I'm sure that everyone is going to adore that little baby! My husband and I would really like a boy so we can name if after my brother who died a while back, but a girl would be great too since he has no sisters or anything. It would be the first girl in his family too. Either way it will be great, and I just pray that the baby is healthy! Ultimatley thats all that matters!jacquelyn -

Well my fiance's family has only had ONE girl born into it in the last 5 generations!!! Sooo...that pretty much sets me up for a boy that is why I would like to beat the system and have a girl! :) I think it is a boy, but either way I am happy as can be! Those of you who say they can feel/see the baby on certain sides...I can too! It is weird he/she moves around from one to the other and sometimes in the middle which feels really weird. He/she isn't real active, but I do feel it when I lay down at night just little flutter like hits against my stomach! (LOVE IT) Those of you who haven't felt it yet do not worry you will soon! You might be 4-7 days behind some of us too which means you could feel it in a week or so! Soooo..back to the 5 generations thing, do you guys think I am set up for a boy or what????? :)Tejay2 -

Jacquelyn- They will do an exchange or a store credit if you still have the receipt and its only 10 days since you purchased the stuff. Maybe you could get a store credit and get some cute tops or something like that, but dont just let the money go to waste!jacquelyn -

shamrock- I am so upset about those pants. We made a special trip to the mall just to get some pants that fit, and as soon as I got them home I couldn't wear them because if I bend over once they're practically around my knees... And of course motherhood doesn't return anything so I'm out however much those pants were and I still don't have any pants that fit. Grrr.chava81 -

Hey ladies..I am from week 25 but was just checking other pages out...for those of you who are worried about movement don't stress. I felt movement for the first time around 16 weeks...and it just felt like a muscle spasm or twitch. A lot of people said it feels like going over a hill but I never got that feeling. I didn't feel a noticeable 'kick' until around 20 weeks and even then it was very sporadic. Remember that the babies still have a lot of room to mvoe in there. Also, I found out during my 20 week scan that my placenta is in the front (anterior) so it blocked some of my baby's movement. I know it's hard to listen to other people and trust me I worried a lot about the movement too!K.T. -

Hey.. I'm not feeling any movement yet either I can't wait I was also getting worried.. I keep thinking any time now I will Feel my bump move..ayla912 -

Very frustrating to hear how many people are feeling movement - I know there are at least a few of us out there who haven't felt anything yet!! Wish the others had more to say but I guess what is there to say? I keep being told it's more normal to feel movement during a first pregnancy around 20 weeks... so how come so many of you feel it now? Darn it.JJCanada -

Mine favors the upper right. It's strange, but if I am laying flat on my back, my belly will sometimes look lopsided. There is definitely a more pronounced bulge wherever the baby is curled up, and it's rarely in the middle.thenorthcutts -

Mine seems to move from right to middle to left all the time... It definately favored the right side at first but now it is moving all over the place! Its funny when I try to find the heartbeat with my doppler, I will find it and then all you hear is it kicking and then I will feel it move away to another spot so I know exactly where to go look for it... Its hilarious... Kinda makes me wonder if it doesn't like the doppler though?augustbaby07 -
