Born & Birth stories

Dates and numbers:
There are 125 days until your due date on May 12, 2009.
You are 155 days pregnant.
You are 5.1 months pregnant.
You are in your 6th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: August 05, 2008 to November 03, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: November 04, 2008 to February 16, 2009. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: February 17, 2009 to May 12, 2009. (28 - 40 weeks)

Your baby's crown-to-rump length is approximately 7.6 inches and your growing baby weighs about 12.25 ounces now! Your uterus is about 2 cm above your bellybutton and you probably feel comfortably pregnant. Your growing tummy is not yet large enough to get in the way and you should still be able to bend over and sit without much trouble. You might be enjoying your pregnancy more than ever at this point if morning sickness was an issue in the early weeks.

Your baby's body continues to grow and develop every day. The organ systems in your baby's body are becoming specialized for their particular functions. The fetal liver produces different enzymes than it will produce after delivery. The liver is responsible for breaking down billirubin, which is produced by the breaking down of blood cells. Because the life span of a fetal red blood cell is shorter than that of an adult, a fetus produces more billirubin than adults do. Billirubin passes from fetal blood to the placenta and then into your blood. Your liver helps get rid of fetal billirubin. A newborn baby that has high levels of billirubin may show signs of jaundice. Jaundiced babies have a yellowish tint to their eyes and skin and are often treated with phototherapy.

Your baby's senses are developing daily. The fetus now has a full complement of neurons in the brain and is learning about her body and surroundings through touch. Touch is one of the first senses to mature and your baby may stroke its face or feel her arms and legs.

Your blood volume has increased more to meet the demands of your pregnancy. Most of the increase is in the form of plasma, the liquid part of your blood. This has the ability to dilute your blood and give you physiological anemia, which occurs during pregnancy. The measure of blood dilution is called Hematocrit and the levels reach their lowest points this week. You should check with your doctor to make sure you are not developing more serious forms of anemia.

Your baby now shows an extremely rapid brain growth (which lasts until five years after birth).

The ovaries of female fetuses contain primitive egg cells, all of the eggs a woman will have for her entire life. The uterus of female fetuses is also fully formed.

prettylitlginger- same here...If only i could have some pounds..

katelyns mom - 1.1 hours ago
I do the same thing sometimes and my doctor said the baby is well protected inside. Unless you are hitting your belly really hard, your baby is perfectly fine. I only wonder if I annoy her sometimes.

Baby O 2009 - 1.3 hours ago

Can - n. soul, life, lifeblood, vitality, spirit, esprit, beloved, darling, heart, precious

TheHappyGirl - 2.4 hours ago
Yes, His name will be Can Frederick. Can is a Turkish name, pronounced John and means beloved. My boy will be half Turkish :)

katelyns mom - 2.4 hours ago
Congratulations happygirl. I remember the day I found out I was having a girl. I cried in the doctor's office because inside I already knew. I'm so happy for you. Have you picked out any names?

TheHappyGirl - 2.6 hours ago
My intuition was correct, I am having a boy!!!!! He is looking great they told me. What a wonderful day. I am so happy and relieved to finally know. My cousin brought me a 'It's A Boy' myler streamer at the hospital gift shop and I have it hanging on my bedroom door :)

TheHappyGirl - 8.1 hours ago
Two hours until my ultrasound. I am so excited!!! I am hoping that it will show me my healthy boy or girl. Off to fill my bladder and won't forget to take along that cup of OJ to get the baby moving :)

prettylitlginger - 16.6 hours ago
I'm negative ten lbs and hope to be in positive numbers soon. I'll gladly take some of those extra lbs, ladies. =]

dollhouse - 17.3 hours ago
I've gained about 10 as well. My doctor says, 'not too little, not too big'. I'm good with that! It was my first day back to work today, so I'm off to bed! Nighty, night!

hoping2bmom - 17.9 hours ago
I've gained 10 pounds and will be 23 weeks tomorrow. The Dr. was happy with that and said to expect 25-30 for the entire pregnancy but like everyone else has said IT VARIES...it's different for everybody. You shouldn't worry as long as your Dr. is happy with however much you've gained. I have a friend who has gained 27 pounds and her Dr. is happy with that as well. Everybody's body is different : )

momofeight - 19.5 hours ago
I just wanted to say that unless the docs are concerned with your weight gain you shouldnt be :) Women who are smaller gain a little more and women who start out heavier gain less. I started a little heavy with this pregnancy and have only gained 7 lbs so far and I am pregnant with twins. That being said the babies are both on track with their growth and the doc said its fine. I'll put on more in the next month and I eat when I'm hungry. I think pregnancy is stressful enough with out us being too concerned on our weight. Just a thought from one mom to others :D Good luck mommies!

zendy - 19.8 hours ago
Babymed.com has a great tool that tells you if you're on track with your weight gain. You type in your height, starting weight and current weight and it tells you where you should be and a projected final weight gain at 40 weeks. It's easy to get a little obsessed with it, but it's really helpful for me to see if I'm on track each week. Here's the link: http://babymed.com/Tools/Pregnancy/Weight_Change/Default.aspx

katelyns mom - 23.2 hours ago
On my last doctors appt which was 12 days ago, I had gained 17 pounds. He said that was fine. I'm assuming by now I'm a little more. I figure if I am due in 16-18 weeks and my doctor says ideal weight gain is 25-35 pounds, even if I gain a pound a week, I'd be within normal limits. I wouldn't worry too much. Your doctor will definitely tell you if you need to be concerned.

jenn5193 - 23.3 hours ago
Springbaby-I have gained about 20lbs as well. As far as what my dr. says as of my last appt. that it was fine. I would only be concerned if the dr. was and you would def. know if he/she was. Hope this helps at least a little!

SpringBaby09 - 23.3 hours ago
Hello everyone!! so I am going to ask the dreaded question cause my doctor wont really help me with it. I want to know where I stand (too little, too much, on track) with my weight gain.. I have never gained weight ever before and I have currently gained about 20 lbs is that normal for 22 weeks? and how does that compare with everyone else? I truely dont care and my doctor says there is nothing to worry about but she doesnt tell me if its 'on track' exc exc.....

genesgirlie - 23.8 hours ago
greenebaby09_ I had the same problem a few days ago and was trying to poke him to make him move. I just felt nothing at all. Then he stirred the next morning and was moving like crazy. I think they can be positioned to where you cant feel them either. I just started feeling this week like I can feel him kicking 'backwards' if that makes sense. it doesnt feel the same, but like a little thud sometimes toward my bottom :)

greenebaby09 - 23.9 hours ago
SO right after i posted my comment, I felt him move. Its just a little but its enough to make me stop worrying! Thanks everyone for your support! Off to week 23 tomorrow!

lashon12 - 1 days ago
HappyInvention- Do you feel her kick low?

happyinvention - 1 days ago
greenebaby, i noticed my baby wasn't 'moving as much' this past week and was worrying. well, it wasn't the baby not moving- i was just busy and hadn't been noticing. also, she's definitely a night baby- and my husband and i are in bed by 9 almost everynight... last night we were up till 11- and she was dancing and kicking and tumbling for about 15 minutes before i fell asleep.
baby is probably fine, just on a weird schedule :)

katelyns mom - 1 days ago
I can completely relate to not sleeping through the night. I can always fall asleep, but I get up at least two if not more times a night. Usually I'm up for good by 4 or 5, so I move the couch so as not to wake Ken and watch TV in the dark. Sometimes I can actually doze off for a half an hour or so before I have to get up for work. I suppose this is practice for when the little one comes. I have a feeling I'll be much more tired then.

momofeight - 1 days ago
greenebaby, try to eat some peanut butter and drink some apple juice, see if stirs the baby up. The baby could be just growing and deciding to move at night whil you are sleeping. If it is a major concern call your doc, don't be afraid to ask, thats what they are there for. Hope this helps :D

lisasgoin2bamom09 - 1 days ago
yay this week il be in my 22nd week so ya bout the bra sizes i had to buy a new bra the other day i was a 34 A n now im a 36 B/ C it depends on the bra like every1 else i cant really sleep n i have gained a good 20 lbs i used 2 weigh 115 lol big transistion they sed it mite b a girl n we picked Paige Lilyanna for the girls name n Damien Alexander for the boys name my bf is so happy tht were goin to have a baby YAY! lol

greenebaby09 - 1 days ago
Okay ladies, I need your help. Today I havent felt any movement and yesterday It was very little. Normally I feel him all the time. Should I be worried? I'm freakin out.

genesgirlie - 1 days ago
I am having the big bb thing too. I was a 34 B/small C now I am a D and filling it up every bit. Never had large ones and I dont like them either! they feel very in the way. On sleeping, I am having that trouble too. If I lay on my side, I pull the blanket so I have a bit extra and tuck it under my belly area. that seems to help.

xkirstyx - 1 days ago
The boobie thing is ridiculous! I have went from a 36C an E (well, more than that now, I need even more bras!) and they are growing more and more every day! I actually wonder if they'll ever stop! I just feel like one big pair of breasts!!! I think my bump looks fairly small cos of them, if I had my normal boobs I'd probably look huge!!! My boyfriend read something last night that says they'll get even bigger around 28-32 weeks when the body starts to get ready to fully produce milk - he says they'll be no more room in the bed for him!!! : S Oh dear!!! x x x

baby1onboard - 1 days ago
good morning...YAWN! i am also having trouble sleeping. falling asleep at bedtime is not a problem, it's the lack of sleeping thru the night that is killing me. i don't mean waking up once to use the bathroom. i mean waking up several times before i'm up for the rest of the night. like lastnight for ex. up 2 times before finally being wide awake by 3:30!!! never went back to sleep after, now i'm at work....yawn!!! i bought a body pillow hoping that would help, not really. any suggestions? also on the whole BB thing, i started out as 34A and now am 36C!! now i know why my BF says i have monster boobs.! lol...oh also started leaking a few days ago, weird!

jtrn - 1 days ago
I hear you on the big bb thing....I was a DDD prior to being pregnant and now, god only knows!! I am also having this sharp pain in my sternum if I sit or stand too long....it is KILLING me!! I have to lie down to even get any relief...so much for the 'enjoyable' second trimester....

katelyns mom - 1 days ago
It's funny everyone is talking about bra sizes, I just had to go buy a new one this weekend. I started out 36C before pregnancy and I'm already a 38DD. Scary. To me they don't look it though because my belly is bigger. I can't imagine what they'll be after I give birth. I'll be lucky if I can stand up without tipping over. LOL

gonllau77 - 1 days ago
I noticed you guys were talking about bbs. I'm so sick of mine. I've always had big ones, but they are totally overshadowing my bump! I have to wear two bras- to keep them up and also because they leak (since week 14) I can't wear the nursing pads because they make them look even bigger! I do EVERYTHING I can to minimize them, but they usually don't even fit in my clothes! I hate this part- I wish I was like a 'perfect' C.

Hello ladies and bumps! Hope you all had a wonderful New Year. 18 weeks left! I am so excited but sooo nervous, we are going to be moving in about 1 week to a new home and I am overwhelmed by the moving , packing and stress of preparing for our girl. We have most all her bedroom stuff all we need now is clothes (the best part) and I am good to go. Or atleast thats what I think. But so far I am still dischargiing 'milk' and feeling very uncomfortable. Cant breath much and get very tired. Well God bless!

americas-next-top-mommy! - 2 days ago
OK so I have been havng some weird symtoms (heart beating extremely fast, heart palpitations, nauseated after meals, dizzy, short of breath, ect.) and I spoke to the nurse about it and I had to go in on Friday for a bunch of testing to see if they cold find anything wrong... They think that I might have Hyperthyroidism because my mom got has it and it didn't really hit her until she was pregnant with my sister. Now I am really worried and scared I will have to get surgery like my mom did. I go to the dr on Tuesday to follow up with all the tests I had done and to have my 23 week checkup... Does anyone know anything about hyperthyroidism or have any experience with it?

Megan Kay - 2 days ago
I am on my last day of my 22 weeks!! wooohoo. only 17 weeks and 1 day to go until we get to meet our baby girl! yay!

happyinvention - 2 days ago
hmm923, just let him know how you feel before-hand? give him some sort of warning that you might get emotional about it, lol. whenever i feel down about myeslf (or good) i tell my hubby so that he can step cautiously, lol!
your bf will probably think you are more beautiful than ever :)
also, do yourself up, so you feel great about yourself :D

prettylitlginger - 2 days ago
Hello, week 22. Another week closer to meeting my baby boy! Yaaay!

amyandflump - 2 days ago
Maybe you could talk to him about how you think your body has changed and warn him how you are feeling? I'm sure when see pregnant women different from how we do! My new hubby just sees the bigger BBs!! :)

hmm923 - 2 days ago
Need some advice - I haven't seen my BF for almost 7 weeks, but will see him next week now that he's returned from Australia. I'm REALLY nervous. My body has changed a LOT in this time. He's looking forward to seeing me, but I can't help thinking he's going to freak out a bit. Then I'm afraid he won't tell me I'm pretty and that will upset me since I'm a big hormone. Any advice?

wifeofUSMCsgt - 2 days ago
I've added my latest u/s pic and my latest belly pic. I'm looking into getting a 3d u/s done; gonna talk to my doc about it to see if there's any places to have it done around me.

amyandflump - 2 days ago
Wow you can see hair in a 4d scan? I've got one booked for three weeks time. I'm now oficially a married woman. Had a lovely day but I was so tired and felt sorry for baby in the hold inn knickers lol! 2009 has gotten off to a fab start, hope it has for the rest of you too! See you in week 23, I'm finally going to eat what the heck i like!

happyinvention - 2 days ago
krissykeeth, amby beds only last up to 40lbs, so it wouldn't make it to 2 years old, poo! it was worth a shot :)

dollhouse - 2 days ago
I was thinking about the pack n' play, too. I just think it's more practical than buying a bassinet, because I can use it everywhere else even when he moves into his crib. Can you do the same thing with co-sleepers?

carterscutie85 - 2 days ago
I had a color ultrasound too and they are pretty cool. We only got to see half his face though because his little hand was covering the other half. My baby doesn't have any hair, though! Looks like he'll be a little baldy just like my bf's son was.

hazy31 - 2 days ago
i had my 3d scan & its a girl for me. Got loads of 3d pics & a 4d dvd. We could see her yawning & pulling on the cord. It was amazing!
