Born & Birth stories

Dates and numbers:
There are 192 days until your due date on June 02, 2009.
You are 88 days pregnant.
You are 2.9 months pregnant.
You are in your 3rd month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: August 26, 2008 to November 24, 2008. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: November 25, 2008 to March 09, 2009. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: March 10, 2009 to June 02, 2009. (28 - 40 weeks)

Your baby's crown-to-rump length is almost 2.5 inches and she now weighs between 8 and 14 grams! In just three weeks, your baby's size has more than doubled and begins to look a lot more human. Even though you won't be able to feel your baby moving at this time, you can stimulate him and he will squint, open his mouth and move his fingers or toes.

By the end of this week, your uterus is too large to remain completely in your pelvis. You might be able to feel your uterus above your pubic bone. The uterus will continue to grow throughout your pregnancy and will return to its usual size within a few weeks after delivery. Before pregnancy, the uterus is almost solid and holds less than 0.3 ounces. During pregnancy, your uterus will become a thin-walled, muscular container that will hold the fetus, amniotic fluid and placenta. Before pregnancy, the uterus weighs approximately 2.5 ounces and when your baby is born, it will weigh almost 40 ounces!

Because most of the structures are already formed at this point, few will be formed after this time. The structures will continue to grow and develop throughout the remainder of your pregnancy. Your baby's skeletal system now has centers if bone formation in most of the bones. The digestive system is capable of making contractions that push food through the bowels and it is also able to absorb sugar. The pituitary gland beginning to make hormones. You will probably be able to hear your baby's heartbeat with a Doppler at this time!

This week may be the first week that you begin to feel better! Morning sickness often tends to improve or diminish at this time. You may begin to show slightly, especially if this is not your first pregnancy. You will feel more comfortable in loose clothing, such as maternity clothes. In addition to your tummy getting larger your breasts, hips, legs and sides may be getting bigger also.

Your baby develops reflexes and the skin is very sensitive.
The brain is fully formed, and the child can feel pain. the baby may even suck his thumb. The eyelids now cover the eyes, and will remain shut until the seventh month to protect the delicate optical nerve fibers.

Hi ladies, I am in weeks 12 a couple of days ago but my doggie has been very sick and had surgery with complications. I also have a cold and feel like you know what :) I hope you are all well and hope to catch up on things very soon!

Anesha - 1 hours ago
Andy21 I felt the same thing last night. It felt like an arm stretched out and moved along the sides of my stomach. I felt it behind by navel and out to the side. I was not going to mention it because people will think you are naive or something and say what I felt was gas so I just dismissed it but it did happen. This is my 2nd pregnancy. Idk

andy21 - 1.6 hours ago
hello there fellow 12 week-ers!!! so, i dunno about you guys but i swear that i felt my baby kick me on Wednesday morning!! it felt like someone poked me or flicked me. but from the inside of course =] and if i lay really still at night, it feels like the baby is moving around in there. so i dunno if it’s all in my head, or if i’m really feeling my little baby! any other moms out there experiencing this too? or any veteran mommies that wanna help a newbie out??? good luck to you all and i hope your morning sickness has passed now!!

newbaby09 - 1.8 hours ago
That's what I was worried about too. I haven't had MS and I did today plus the pains, especially in my lower back.

babyhallsmomma - 1.9 hours ago
well ladies, I am off to week 13 today!! YAY! See you all there..

TangerineGal - 2.2 hours ago
newbaby09--- I'm at 12wks & 3dasys and this morning I woke up with pain really low in my pelvis and feeling nauseous. The pain isn't cramps, but a 'burning' type pain that I hope is just stretching. The feeling sick part is a little weird since I haven't had any ms yet. All of this is pretty normal right ladies? As for massages, I know they are ok for the most part, my friends hubby specializes in prenatal massage and can actually help position the baby later in pregnancy to help prevent breech. It's pretty cool!

newbaby09 - 3.1 hours ago
I just wanted to see if anyone else is in a lot of pain. My stomach hurts and my lower back is killing me. I cried so much last night my eyes are almost swelled shut! Normally I feel great, but last night and today I am miserable. Is it June yet? Does anyone know if it is ok to get a massage?

Joyce49788 - 7.4 hours ago

i feel so sad today. ireally dotn like the midwives at my hospital. i went for an ultrasound and ihad my h usband and 10month old son wiht me. no i know htat children are not allowed in the us room but i am living in a country where i dont speak the language so i needed my husband there to translate for me and we are new in town so we have no friends or family wihtin 500miles so i had nobody to leave my son with. my appointment was 45min late the nurse cmae in witout and applogy or even a hello and just started going on and on at me that i shuoldnt have my son there and that she shoudlnt do the ultrasound with him in the room, i dotn know what she expeted me to do. she was so rude and nasty i was in tears. was i supposed to say im not having any ultrasounds because my husband has to look after the baby and they dont speak english? sorry for the rant but im so annoyed at the attitude!

ally08 - 9.9 hours ago
hey mummies - regarding finding out the sex - with my son we found out at 13 weeks 2 days he was a boy and i have my NT scan at a fetal genetics specialist on monday so will let you know if we can see then... you can find out earlier but i just think its more difficult to see? perhaps more specialised people can move the baby in such a way to see? i dunno.. hope that helps anyone who was wondering :)

Nicolette R. - 11.8 hours ago
WendySue:remembering my 1st pregnancy I got the heartburn pretty late, like around the 7th month. This time I got it very early too.Same like omgrucreeus ...tomatoe soup, tomatoe paste or sauces makes me real sick. Not to throw up,but yeah...close to it.How about memory though?Same like last time,I cannot remember some names and not talking about numbers either. Not good, not good.I can put stuff down, turn around and not remember where did I put it.Read somewhere that for pregnant woman that is normal...just a little memory loss,ha ha ha.It will come back though(hopefully)!!!!LOL.

elizam - 15 hours ago
Yea Im not to keen on flushots either, or much of medicine from the hospital for that matter. I have never had the flu and I have never had a sot either. I hope my dr. dosent try to make me feel like it is mandatory now. Im scared that if I get then I will get sick.

sarahsmurfette - 15.9 hours ago
In regards to the flu shot - I work in a hospital and was actually chased down by our employee health nurse who was trying to give me the shot. Here are my two cents on why I won't get it. I have one word for you 'thimerosal.' This is the preservative that is in the flu vaccine. It contains mercury. I learned this from the CDC site itself. Even the 'preservative free' flu vaccine DOES contain a very small amount of this. And while they can neither prove nor disprove the safety of this - they still recommend it. But if I won't give the flu shot to my 2 year old daughter just in case it does end up being as poisonous as some suspect, then why would I give it to my fetus by giving it to myself. As far as I'm concerned, I am aware of my own health. If I get sick, or if my daughter gets sick, I know it. I watch it. I take care of it. We are not otherwise immuno-compromised, and I believe to scare the public into getting vaccines they don't need is a disservice. I just said no.

babyhallsmomma - 16.4 hours ago
Jann29.. Just a thought about the flu shot. Many Doctors will make it sound as if you dont have a choice. That is not true. I told my doctor I was not getting one, and she didn't like it, but its my choice. The imunization argument will go on till the end of time. Just remember, there are 10000s of strains of the flu virus, and when you get the shot, you only get protected against the 5 strains that they think are going to be the worst. It is not a sure fire thing you will not get the flu from the shot either. My family all reacts violently to it, and get sick for months. That is why I chose not to. For some women the security of getting the shot means more. My advice would be make an informed decision, and not just based on popular opinion. (Just a side note. I understand I am skeptical of modern medicine, if you dont agree with what I think, its kewl, and I don't think less of those who trust it.) Happy pregnancy mommies!!

WendySue - 17.1 hours ago
Nicolette R - soon we'll be needing tums for heartburn? I've been having bad heartburn since I first found out I was pregnant. It was one of my first symptoms. Has anyone else been having it this long or is just me??

omgrucreeus - 17.5 hours ago
Still having the icky symptoms, although they're letting up *some* I don't seem to have the all day nausea that I had before, but the smell sensitivity is still there (now worse than ever--today I smelled tomato soup and threw up my lunch for no apparent reason other than that smell made my stomach curdle). The other thing that still plagues me is the fatigue. I thought I'd be getting more energy, and I did...for about 2 days. Now, I'm more tired than ever! What's up with that?!

Nicolette R. - 18 hours ago
cheer999: do not worry,u will show sooner or later. The baby do not grow to the inside. With my boy(my 1st pregnancy),no one believed me I was pregnant until the 6th month.I just hadno stomack at all.And then it popped out real quick.

Nicolette R. - 18.1 hours ago
Aboout the spicy food.Yeah, with my first I also craved it,even though I never ate it before. And now my little one loves don't mnd it either.Enjoy it,because soon we will all sit on TUMS from a hearthburn.

2Good2BeReal - 18.2 hours ago
I read in so many places that caffine in any amount can contribute to a m/c, so I cut out all caffine as soon as I found out about my little one. I even gave up chocolate! I told myself that if I made it to week 12 I could start incorporating chocolate (in small doses) back into my diet. Soooo, I couldn't help myself at the checkout tonight and grabbed a twix bar. Mmmmmmmmmmm, that tasted like heaven. Then I wanted a box of assorted chocolates and just wanted to sit on the couch and eat the whole box. I refrained from getting the box and was satisfied with my twix bar, but I'm starting to wonder if eating that was such a good idea. I hope chocolate isn't my next craving 'kick'!!!!

foxgirl - 19.9 hours ago
wow I keep getting told between 18 and 20 wks we will find out.. I so wanted it to happen before xmas so we could share with our families but that doesnt look like it will happen...

maciandmiasmommy - 20.1 hours ago
LoL that is so funny b/c i was just sitting here eating a spicy burrito and have wanted mexican food all week! Its also a coincidence b/c i was referred yesterday to a neurologist for my headaches also..but they have been prescribing me lortab 7.5 for pain all month. and yes! i am thrilled to find out on Dec. 17 the sex of the baby..hopefully HE will show himself ;)

foxgirl - 21.5 hours ago
Hello Ladies... I crave spicy mexican food all the time LOL I wake up wanting a bean burrito LOL. I had my 12wk apt today. It was great my husband had to work so my mom went with me and she was so excited to hear the heart beat. I too got a flu shot and everything seems to be going great!

kimberleydawn - 21.7 hours ago
cheer9999-This is my 3rd baby and I still get wierded out sometimes when I really sit and think that there is something alive and kicking and growing and eventually going to be all squished up with no room in my belly....:)

Janice2369 - 21.9 hours ago
Just got back from my doc appointment and everything is great! Heard the heartbeat and they scheduled me for the NT scan. I told them about migraines and they would not give me any medication, but referred me to a neurologist. I am excited!

mamadrama - 22.2 hours ago
Is anyone craving spicy food?? I went and had tacos with my mom today and I just kept putting on the hot sauce. Then I stopped and thought jeez this is hot and I couldn't stop eating it even though my mouth was so hot! I usually don't even like spicy food! Weird!

WendySue - 22.6 hours ago
The flu shot is safe after the first trimester, but you don't want to do the mist version (which is a live flu virus as opposed to the shot which is a dead virus).

cheer9999 - 22.7 hours ago
jann29- My dr told me to get the shot not the mist. I got it and i am glad i wont be stuck with the flu

cheer9999 - 22.7 hours ago
and i was wondering if I am the only one not showing??? I have had two girlfriends have babies recenlty and looking at their 12 week pics, they both looked pregnant! I can feel my uterus but nothing popping. I'm scared what if something happened and thats why my belly is not growing to the size of this picture....???

cheer9999 - 22.8 hours ago
Ok... So I am so excited about this baby. I am 12w1d. I have genetic testing next tues. and then its a while before the next u/s. does anyone have an appt to find out the gender befre xmas? I would love that!!! also, am I the only that feels weird about the reality that there is an actual baby inside our bodies.. It is weirding me out when i sit and think about it... I love it, but it is weird!!!

jann29 - 22.9 hours ago
does anyone know if its okay to get the influenza shot? ive googled this and some sites say its safe, yet some say its not!!!!

cheyenne - 22.9 hours ago
nwilliams- usually the earliest they can tell is 15 weeks but even then it is not 100%. they will not give you that ultrasound until at least 18 weeks but usually they wait until about 20.

nwilliams - 22.9 hours ago
I have a doctor's appt today and I wonder if the doctor will be able to tell what I'm having. I seen on a site that this week is when the genitals start to form. Does anyone no if its too early to tell?

nwilliams - 23 hours ago
TO MOONS: I understand how you feel about the big belly. I'm 12 wks pregnant and everyone who looks at me says I must be having twins or I can't be just 12 wks. I think I'm just going to have a big baby.

BrandaN - 1 days ago
((Moons)) remember that every pregnancy is different and you cannot compare yourseld to anyone else. Me on the other hand, I feel like I am 12 months! lol but its all in my head...lol

antsmom - 1 days ago
WHAT A RELIEF!!! I FINALLY got to see my little one today. I was spoiled during my last pregnancy as I got to have an ultrasound at 6 weeks. This time around I had to wait 'till 12 weeks. I was so thrilled to see him/her bouncing all around!

moons - 1 days ago
i m new to this site. i m also 12 weeks pregnant. however my belly size is too big for 12 weeks pregnancy, as ive seen in the pics. i am too worried if its normal or not coz everyone whoever sees me says i must be six month pregnant. this is my first pregnancy so it is very unusual n terrifying for me. please suggest if its normal or not.

Frine - 1 days ago
OMG girls... thank God I am not the only one about the pain.... I woke up at 3:30am to use the toilet and after that I couldn't go back to sleep because of the pain... I was about to call the Dr. but after reading you output made me feel normal...lol Have a bless day everyone!! ;)

foxgirl - 1 days ago
I am 12w4d today and feel like I have seriously done like 600 sit ups is this just stretching pains because everything is moving?? Also the last two nights I havnt been comfortable on my tummy which is horrible because Im a tummy sleeper...

mommy2be - 1 days ago
dmelone- i wouldn't worry too much, as long as you're not bleeding everything should be fine. i actually had the samething this morning (but mine was on my left) and a few weeks ago, when i went for my ultrasound tuesday the tech said everything looks fine and unless it's real bad cramping and bleeding i shouldn't be alarmed. I'm sorry about your losses, i can only imagine how devastating that is. this is my first pregnancy and I have no idea what to expect, so every little thing i think way too much into it. you're body is going through so many changes right now. My pain stopped, and so should yours, but if you're concerned just call your doc.

dmelone - 1 days ago
I am new to this site and am twelve weeks. I have had two previous losses and am very nervous. Had some short shooting pains (not super painful) on my right side this morning and through the night, a little worried but I don't want to be paranoid, anyone else have this?

Pinkexecutioner - 1 days ago
Lisamary38, My man's friends do that all the time! I think it's a guy thing. When my man told his one friend that we were getting married the guy was like ' are you sure you wanna do that' Like I wanted to reach over and choke him! Good thing my man was like 'Of course' Otherwise I woulda choked him too!! LOL, I just think it's a guy thing. I have a friend who is 23 and he has 4 beautiful children. It doesn't matter, don't let them at you!

lisamary38 - 1 days ago
Just went to the doctors yesterday to hear the heartbeat. It was a strong 165 bpm! Does anyone believe the wives tale that you can tell the sex of the baby by bpm? I would love to have a daughter, since I already have a son (of course would be extremely happy with either.) I too get to find out for sure on Dec. 17. I am so excited! Also, I need your opinion. I overheard one of my husband's friends ask my hubby, after my husband told him that we are expecting our second in June, 'Wow-how old are you?' Well, my hubby is 28 and I am 31. My husband's friend tried to make my hubby feel as if he was too young to have 2 children! Can you believe the nerve of some people! We have been married for almost 5 years and have been a couple for almost 10! Do you all think we are too young to have 1 and another on the way? Our son will be 3 in Feb. by the way. I guess I shouldn't let what others say get to me, but it is kinda hard. Also, I am scared this guy is going to get to my hubby. Sorry to ramble, but I just had to get it off my chest.

jamie lynn - 1 days ago
Good morning mommies, I hope you allk are felling great and have a wonderful day. I keep getting craps although I know they are just growing pains I still don't like it and hello pregnancy gas LOL you got to love it right.

samba - 1 days ago
Just uploaded my scan pics if anyone interested x

foxgirl - 2 days ago
Hello ladies... Since it is so cold im my neck of the woods I can not seem to get down the daily amount of water or liquids we are suppose to be drinking any suggestions??? I love juices and stuff but know the sugar isnt good so I have tried staying away from them. I was just not a water drinker to begin with so it is hard to get it down now as well...

maciandmiasmommy - 2 days ago
I went for my 12 week appt today and all went great! :) The nurse picked up the babys heartbeat w/the doppler as soon as she touched it to my belly and it was about 170bpm...compared to 148bpm last month. On Dec 17th they said we will get to find out what the sex of the baby is yAy! He is sending me to a neurologist for my headaches though...just keeping me on lortab until then. Maybe all will go well though. Oh and no weight gain..i've actually lost almost 10 lbs since ive been so sick.

Janice2369 - 2 days ago
I read somewhere that the baby is the size of a plum. If there's a plum size baby swimming inside of us, I think it's possible to feel it. What I feel is very faint, but I feel something. Even if I'm jumping the gun a bit, it's still fun...

tcd77 - 2 days ago
danellyh- I swaer I feel my baby too....this is my 3rd baby, and I am almost positive I know the difference between gas and movement. It doesn't last long, and I can mostly feel it on my left side. When I get up in the morning and start moving around I can usually feel is swimming around a bit...maybe it's just in my head...I know it's sooo tiny!

newbaby09 - 2 days ago
Well I just got back from getting my scan and everything looks great. They measured the baby at 12weeks and 6 days but doc said she was going to keep me at 12 weeks 1 day. Oh well. She said that she couldn't tell the sex for sure, but if she was betting she would say it was a boy! Yea!! She said she could tell by the folace (sp). Does anyone know what that is?
