Your uterus is moving up and is now approximately 1.5 to 2 inches below your navel. You are showing more now and there is a noticeable swelling in your abdomen. At this point in your pregnancy, a 5 to 10 pound weight gain is normal. Other people can probably feel the difference in your lower abdomen if they were to rub your tummy. To be the most comfortable, you should be wearing maternity clothes or clothing that is too large for you. You may have felt your baby move already. However, you might not feel it move every day at this point. As your pregnancy progresses, movements become stronger and more frequent. Feeling your baby move can help reassure you that your baby is doing well. You might also notice that your gums or nose bleed occasionally. This is from the increased blood volume that puts pressure on small blood vessels and capillaries.
Huge changes continue to take place within your developing baby. This week fat begins to form and will continue to do so until he is born. Fat is important to the body's heat production and metabolism. Right now, at 17 weeks, water makes up about 3 ounces and fat 0.018 ounces of your baby's body. In a baby at term, fat makes up about 5.25 pounds of the total average weight of 7.7 pounds. The placenta is continuing to grow at an amazing rate. The placenta will continue to develop in tandem with the fetus and it will weigh more than a pound at birth! By this week, the placenta is large and well established with a network of blood vessels that exchange nutrients and waste.
The eyes are facing more forward. The ears are now close to their final position.
Your baby is more flexible with ability to move head, mouth, lips, arms, wrists, hands, legs, feet, and toes.
Fingerprints are forming now.

Ladies I need your advice. I am a photo journalist for a small newspaper. I just found out that we are expected to have a major flood in our area and I am expected to be out in it getting photos. We had a similar flood just over a year ago but we had two other photo journalist shooting as well as me. Now it is only me. My problem is that I don't want to put myself or me twin babies at risk. I am already feeling the pressure to put in long hours and put myself in possible dangerous situations. Last year we had to be air lifted out of the flood waters. I am mad at them for thinking it is Ok to force me into this situation which could but me and my children in danger. What do I do? How do I set limits on what I am willing to do without leaving my job?

I am sooo depressed. I was originally scheduled to have my ultrasound on the 22nd, but due to conflicting university/ob schedules I had to push it back to the 30th. Now I have to wait even longer to see my bug! (note: the nickname bug came about when I was still puking 4+ times a day, but the name stuck). Oh boo.

funny story. So i was cooking supper last night and i needed to go potty but i decided i needed to wait until the rice started boiling so i could turn it donw and avoid boil over. while waiting Karma struck!!! i sneezed and piddled on myself some! it was so embarassing! i just said 'aww sh*t' and DH asked what happened he giggled and said 'well isn't that supposed to get worse??'... lesson learned... deal with boil over and go pee ladies!!!

YAYYYYY my work is having a sales conference on jan 21st, 22nd and 23rd and my boss requested that i change my appt(on the 22nd) if i could so i called and they moved it up to that tuesday the 20th!!! so only 2 weeks now till i find out what sea turtle is!!! yayyyy i am so excited!

Hey girls..i forgot to tell you...asi was reading about everyones pee.. :) My doc said the darker your pee the more dehydrated you are..in addition to the pre-natals...make sure you are drinking all your water!

i went to coldstone ice cream and got an oreo explosion ice cream in a waffle cone over the weekend!!! soooooo good!!! it was sweet cream ice cream, with crushed oreo and fudge chocolate chips all in it!!! so good!

Sslove-my doctor measures me-from the bottom of pubic bone (I think) to top of uterus in inches-she says that the inch is pretty close to how many weeks I am. For example13 inches= about 13-14 weeks. Try measuring to your belly button-maybe it will be close for you too!

I could really go for some chocolate covered strawberries or oreos yummy. My mother worked at a chocolate factory for 17 years and recently retired. Boy do I miss it now.

is it safe to take other vitamins? i feel i'm coming down with a cold and want to take a high vitamin C and B+ to try and get my immune system to beat it into submission. i figure they are fine since they are vitamins but i just want to be sure.

Princess-nose bleeding is normal-snoring,congestion etc... It's because of swollen membranes in nasal cavity-you can google it.

Princess I know the answer to your question. No, it is not bad for the baby it is absolutely normal. The reason is there is more blood pumping through your body. I read it in the signs to look for when pregnant.

MOMMY>>> The only thing that has ever helped me with headaches is the chiropractor. Each preg it worked. I suffered for the first 3 months with my first and after my first visit... gone!!! My second baby, I went every Friday for my 3rd month and I barely get them anymore (only if I sleep to much and eat too much junk (choc))

The OB i went to before I moved to FLorida swears by the heart rate thing also. She delivered my mom....and me..lol this lady is old..a.nd swears she has never been wrong! is it a string and ring using your palm or your belly???

Anything over and above 150 is a girl... anything 145 and below is a boy... 145-150 they still are not sure as it is half and half.... Both my boths were 147 and 143. When I went to the doc, once it was 165 and i was thrilled but last week it was 140.. Maybe SHE was sleeping...lol

baby griffin- i find that after i take my vitamins my pee is almost a florescent yellow color. its normal for the color to vary, i hear this is because your body takes the vitamins it needs and leaves the rest so in essence you're peeing out the unabsorbed vitamins. that is just what i heard though, i dont' have any info to back it up.

Ladies, this maybe TMI but I was wondering if this is normal or not. My uring is quite darker then usual. When I drink this much water (over 8 glasses a day) my urine is normally clear. I'm wondering maybe there's something missing in my diet or something's wrong. It's been this way for the past couple days.
