Dates and numbers: There are 15 days until your due date on December 09, 2009.
You are 265 days pregnant.
You are 8.7 months pregnant.
You are in your 9th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: March 04, 2009 to June 02, 2009. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: June 03, 2009 to September 15, 2009. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: September 16, 2009 to December 09, 2009. (28 - 40 weeks)
You are considered full-term now and your baby's final touches are being made. The crown-to-rump length of your baby is now 14 inches and the total length is around 21 inches. Your baby weighs approximately 6.5 pounds. Your uterus may be measuring about the same as it has been and is probably about 6.5 inches from the top of your bellybutton.
This week your baby should engage into your pelvis. If this is not your first pregnancy, it may happen later. When your baby engages, his head drops down into your pelvis and you might feel a slight sensation called `lightening` as the pressure on your ribs eases. As your baby drops into the final position for delivery, you may experience a buzzing feeling and shooting pains in your groin and leg. Normally, you will be able to breathe and eat easier. However, your uterus pushes down harder on your bladder and you will have an increased urge to urinate more frequently. Even if your baby engages now, you still possibly feel his feet in your breastbone around week 40.
Your baby is now fully mature and ready to be born. However, your baby is still growing and developing every day. Fat is still being laid down at a rate of a half ounce a day. If this is your first pregnancy, you can expect to deliver closer to 40 weeks or shortly thereafter. If this is not your first baby, you might go earlier than 40 weeks! Make sure that your bags are packed for the hospital and remember to preregister for admission.
Your doctor may begin doing weekly pelvic exams to evaluate your cervical changes and progression. Your healthcare provider will make sure that you are not leaking amniotic fluid and will also examine your cervix to check for effacement and dilation. Before labor, your cervix is thick and 0% effaced. During labor your cervix thins out and right before delivery it will become very soft and 100% effaced.
Research shows your baby can be affected by stress hormones. Make time to relax, to have fun, and to rest.
Your baby has learned to coordinate sucking, swallowing and breathing so it can do all three when breastfeeding after birth. Babies practice shallow breathing before birth, using amniotic fluid.
Almost there! Did you know that we also have a month by month calendar for babies? You can find it in the menu under `Babies`: Month by month

I look like the Michelin man, swollen everywhere! I have taken to sticking my feet in cool water which does help. I'm thinking of bringing out a line of frozen socks for expectant Mums, because as soon as my feet are out the water they start to swell again. Not only are they painful but they look horrendous. Oh well, the end is nearly in sight.
jamielynn1980 - 4.2 hours ago
shamekab > could be amniotic fluid. I'd call the hospital or go there to get checked. I have A LOT of pressure down there too and was pretty sure last night was the night but then they stopped after laying down for a few hours. Losing amniotic fluid and not knowing it is never good if it is indeed that. Call and make sure please. Doesn't hurt to get checked. My Dr. would rather me be safe than sorry.
kelley77 - 4.3 hours ago
Shamekab, sounds like maybe your water broke!

ilovemyboy-- getting my sweep today didn't hurt too too bad.. Its like a period cramp.. And I've been cramping and contracting since.. They are steadily getting stronger too! So tonight I maybe headed to L&D!
one.of.each - 6.8 hours ago
Swollen limbed ladies - the obvious things like resting with feet up work. ALSO, swimming is a recommendation for adema because the pressure of the water (in the pool) can be enough to push the water back out of your tissue space and into your vessels. I don't swell really bad, if I do, I run a bath since I have zero desire to get in a swimsuit. I just soak in there before I go to bed.
ilovemyboy - 8.3 hours ago
I am STILL 2 cm dilated and have been for 2 weeks. I swore I was in labor on Sat. I was having painful; contractions every 2-3 minutes for an hour but then they went away. No progress today so maybe they were real contractions?? They hurt, that is all I know. Does it hurt to strip your membranes? Maybe she will do that next MOnday for me.
angelaz - 9.8 hours ago
Mainemama and Mrs Udezeh: I have swelling in my feet, ankles and hands too! My doctor suggests doing the obvious things (keep feet up, drink lots of water) but says it is normal and isn't concerned as long as my blood pressure stays under control. The good news is that I hear that it goes away very quickly after giving birth!
k20cl5 - 10.1 hours ago
Well- got my membranes stripped today :) having lots of cramps and contractions that are strong but not too bad.. Doc told me to stay moving and to do some nipple stimulation.. Also she gave me the wrong date for my induction.. She will induce Dec 7th if I haven't already had Lilly.. Doc thinks I will have her before then tho cause my odds for the stripping are good since it worked with my 2nd baby.. Yay! Fingers crossed for baby soon :) gonna go walk and do the dirty :)
jamielynn1980 - 11.9 hours ago
I haven't swollen since this summer and it's back in my feet and ankles badly. I wake up with it too and I also gained 5 lbs since last week. Told me just to keep an eye on it. I have low blood pressure so I don't think it's a blood pressure issue. We are almost done! That's the only thing keeping me going.
christinaa - 13 hours ago
With my first I was a fingertip dialated until 41 weeks. They swept my membranes and went from 0 to delivery in 24 hours.
Mrs Udezeh - 13.2 hours ago
mainemama: I am having the same issue with swelling. I have gained 5 lbs since my lst doctors appt last monday i saw the doctor today and he said its normal they will just keep an eye on me. My ankles are soo swollen and my face is unrecognizable :( want it over
barbi - 13.7 hours ago
expandingwaistline - I used nothing besides my everyday lotion for both my first and this pregnanacy and never got any stretchmarks with either. My doc told me it is genetic and has to do with how elastic your skin is and to not waste $$ on products because you either get them or you don't.
expandingwaistline - 15.3 hours ago
Hi ladies, i'm from week 16, was just wondering what you used to prevent stretchmarks and whether it worked or not? Not long now for you guys :) good luck many thankss x
barbi - 15.4 hours ago
MaineMama - inform your doc of this, could be a sign of pre-enclampsia

Wow i am totally exhausted. my 8yo daughter has been complaining of a sore throat since friday night. i have been keeping a check on it. it has been a little red and i figured if it was not better by today we would go to her regular dr. last night she was complaining and when her dad and i looked her throat was almost totally swollen shut. so we whisk her away to the er. spent 4 hours there waiting on a strep throat diagnosis and did not get home until 2:3O am. and the entire time we are @ the er my lo is kicking up a storm and my BH contactions were really starting to scare me. i know the er is probably the best place to go into labor but i was not at the hospital my dr delivers at. lol i had to beg her to chill out. i told DH our luck we would get home from the er and my water would break. lol didnt happen though. too bad. happy monday ladies. and for those of your hosting Thanksgiving- i feel your pain. im just trying to figure out what the hell was going thru our heads when we got that bright idea. food? lol
MaineMama - 16.6 hours ago
Anyone else having swelling issues? Over the last week, my weight has gone up 3.5 pounds and I know it's water. My fingers are so swollen that I can't even make a fist and my feet keep falling asleep. Even my face looks puffy! I rarely eat anything too salty and I drink tons of water! Anyone have any advice?
emma1973 - 19.6 hours ago
Ok so I was kept awake by strong irregular contractions last night then woken very early by my 14 month old son. I have no patience today. OB appt this afternoon and last US before baby arrives. Hope they can tell me something is happening cos I am SO fed up of being pregnant right now!!

I reckon ive had a pretty good preg. so far, but now im just in plain agony, it feels as though there is a knife being twisted in my ribs, and not just at night now, all day and night.. i take paracetamol and put ice cold pack on it, but it is pure agony.. Then to make matters worse when im standing or walking I get a shooting pain down my right bum cheek and straight down my leg, and it literally makes me fall over.. it actually brought me to tears tonight, and poor hubby tries to help but there doesnt seem to be anything he can do :( I just hope baby comes sometime this week, my life feels like groundhog day at the moment.. Congrats bbygirl1986 - wonderful newson your birth.. lets hope we are all next xxx

jessicar...i had my husband's fam for thanksgiving today...wow...not good at 9 months pregnant...i cooked, spent 5 minutes eating and then said goodbye and took a 3 hour nap! my feet and ankles were so swollen from standing to cook all day and night i almost couldn't bare the pain! good luck dear!
hjwelch - 1 days ago
Around 11 last night I rolled over to go to sleep and was in so much pain I started screaming. My left side ribs/back were in SO much pain they felt bruised. I could not move at all. Called the doc who suggested heat pad/tylenol but that was not helping. Made it through the night with some pillow biting and screaming and then made my husband take me to the hospital this morning after talking to the doctor again.
Spent the morning in the hospital and the baby is fine. I am 2 cm dilated and 60% effaced, and there was quite a bit of uterine activity which I couldn't feel. They gave me a shot of something for the pain right before we walked out the door and 4 hours later I woke up in bed at home...screaming. They have me on Percocet, but now I am throwing up after everything I eat so I have kept nothing down all day....this totally bites! 20 days to go until due date? yeah...okay!

37 weeks, hooray! What a great milestone. I was going to do so much on the weekend but got hardly anything done because it was so hot! 40 degrees C yesterday, I spent most of the day with my feet in icy water. I was going to repack my hospital bag but that will have to wait. Hope I don't go into labour this week, hubby has a huge job interview on Thursday. I really, really, really want him to get this job. Baby is crazy active today.

Just wanted to announce that i had my baby boy Jayden! He was born at exactly 37 weeks and weighed 7 pounds 7 ounces. Will post birth story later. Baby was transverse and ended up being an emergency forceps delivery after pushing for an hour since babies heartrate dropped. All ended well and baby is beautiful Good luck to all.

Ok weird ? for everyone. I noticed in the shower yesterday morning that my nipples had like a line (maybe veins)? there were black. Not the whole area, just one or two lines that are, I mean pitch black. Would that be veins? Or what? Anyone else had this? I never noticed it before yesterday so I don't know how long they've really been there, etc. I go to the doc Tuesday, I'll ask her then, but I was just curious if anyone has every experienced something like that? Thanks!
mamacas26 - 2 days ago
37 weeks today! I am so relieved that I made it to 37 weeks, because now we can have a homebirth. However, I am SO not ready to be done with this pregnancy and am hoping to make it until at least December 1st. This next week is my birthday, then Thanksgiving, then we have to get our tree and decorate for Christmas! Then the baby can come! But I am pleased that the baby is healthy and able to come if it wants or needs to...

Supernova- My sister had Group B Strep and when she delivered they just made sure to give her an antibiotic for it during delivery... Brantley my nephew was born with no complications what-so-ever... Just be sure to tell your nurses that you did test positive for GBS.
abbyh - 2 days ago
supernova, Group B Strep is nothing to panic about. It should not harm your baby. They give you IV antibiotics during labor and delivery, so that your baby doesn't experience breathing issues after delivery, which can happen as a result of exposure to the bacteria. The antibiotic should clear things up so your baby isn't passing through that bacteria. That has been my understanding of it, at least. I tested negative for it, but this is what we have learned both at my appointments and at prenatal classes.

Was in hospital Tuesday and Wednesday for high blood-pressure. I am now sooooo ready for my LO to come. Yesterday started having diarrhea but it's weird cause my stomach is not cramping (TMI sorry). Could this be a sign of something happening ;O) Baby is also not moving as much as I'm used to, but I'm not worried cause hb was monitored in hospital and is perfect. He can come after 27th cause I want to go watch Twilight LOL..., I'll take my bags with just in case.

Today is my last day in week 37 and off to week 38. Only got 9 more days b4 I go in to be induced!!! Can't wait I just want this out of me...
barron06 - 2 days ago
Hello ladies I delivered my baby on the 18th.. Dr induced me but it happened all so fast and I didn't even have to push she just came out.. but the pain was CRAZY!!
momof609 - 2 days ago
shamekab- labor can start and finish in a days time meaning you can dialate, thin and baby engage all quite suddenly... thats why thera are a lot of drs that dont like to do the weekly checks because it gets moms frustrated... Ive had docs tell me I wasnt close and I had baby 3 days later... I had drs saying I wouldnt make it to the next appt and I was at the next 3 scheduling inducement... Drs/midwives dont know everything and even they cant tell us when baby will come... after a few kids drs stop trying to predict because they know moms with experience know they arent all knowing. ALSO same for having a fast labor or even two... nothing saying #3 will be fast too.... Every labor is unpredictable.
babykake - 2 days ago
hmmm ok ive been having BHs all day rather uncomfortable but not getting stronger no mucus plug yet feel sooooo tired and sore now i just hope this is a sign of things to come
supernova - 3 days ago
lmgibson- I also tested positive for strep B. It's really hard not to freak out about it. But my Dr. seems to think it's nothing to worry about at all. Apparently 1/3 of us will test positive...seems so strange to have such high numbers and so little useful information about it.
hjwelch - 3 days ago
Yay! 37 weeks and full term :) Doc yesterday said all continues to look good. Some days I am in a hurry to have him here and other days, I feel that I can wait. Everyone says he will come when he is ready to come. Still teaching and my student teacher (who will actually take over for me when I leave) has permission to finish her assignment a week earlier on the 4th so that she is ready to assume the long term sub position. We have our baby/lamaze class on December 5th since we did not plan on taking it due to a scheduled C Section, but now can have a VBAC so needed the class...hope we make it that far!

I have to say being induced is not all it is cracked up to be. I have been induced with my two prior children and once they break those waters - BAM! IT'S ON! I had my youngest daughter in one hour and 20 minutes and it was fast and intense from the get go! It might sound wonderful getting it over quickly but I could not stop shaking for the next hour after she was born. The thought of that again - knowing it will probably be even faster is the cause of all of my anxieties - ouch!! I would so love to just go naturally - I have 12 days left for this to happen before my doctor gets his needle-like instrument out to burst that balloon!
linzigenavieve - 3 days ago
Does anyone else really hate this waiting game? I'm not wanting to make any plans cause its like, well, I might be in the hospital having a baby. lol I just wish a date would show up on your belly letting you know when it's going to happen. :)
