Dates and numbers: There are 20 days until your due date on December 12, 2009.
You are 260 days pregnant.
You are 8.5 months pregnant.
You are in your 9th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: March 07, 2009 to June 05, 2009. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: June 06, 2009 to September 18, 2009. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: September 19, 2009 to December 12, 2009. (28 - 40 weeks)
You are considered full-term now and your baby's final touches are being made. The crown-to-rump length of your baby is now 14 inches and the total length is around 21 inches. Your baby weighs approximately 6.5 pounds. Your uterus may be measuring about the same as it has been and is probably about 6.5 inches from the top of your bellybutton.
This week your baby should engage into your pelvis. If this is not your first pregnancy, it may happen later. When your baby engages, his head drops down into your pelvis and you might feel a slight sensation called `lightening` as the pressure on your ribs eases. As your baby drops into the final position for delivery, you may experience a buzzing feeling and shooting pains in your groin and leg. Normally, you will be able to breathe and eat easier. However, your uterus pushes down harder on your bladder and you will have an increased urge to urinate more frequently. Even if your baby engages now, you still possibly feel his feet in your breastbone around week 40.
Your baby is now fully mature and ready to be born. However, your baby is still growing and developing every day. Fat is still being laid down at a rate of a half ounce a day. If this is your first pregnancy, you can expect to deliver closer to 40 weeks or shortly thereafter. If this is not your first baby, you might go earlier than 40 weeks! Make sure that your bags are packed for the hospital and remember to preregister for admission.
Your doctor may begin doing weekly pelvic exams to evaluate your cervical changes and progression. Your healthcare provider will make sure that you are not leaking amniotic fluid and will also examine your cervix to check for effacement and dilation. Before labor, your cervix is thick and 0% effaced. During labor your cervix thins out and right before delivery it will become very soft and 100% effaced.
Research shows your baby can be affected by stress hormones. Make time to relax, to have fun, and to rest.
Your baby has learned to coordinate sucking, swallowing and breathing so it can do all three when breastfeeding after birth. Babies practice shallow breathing before birth, using amniotic fluid.
Almost there! Did you know that we also have a month by month calendar for babies? You can find it in the menu under `Babies`: Month by month

Today is my last day in week 37 and off to week 38. Only got 9 more days b4 I go in to be induced!!! Can't wait I just want this out of me...
barron06 - 3.7 hours ago
Hello ladies I delivered my baby on the 18th.. Dr induced me but it happened all so fast and I didn't even have to push she just came out.. but the pain was CRAZY!!
momof609 - 4.5 hours ago
shamekab- labor can start and finish in a days time meaning you can dialate, thin and baby engage all quite suddenly... thats why thera are a lot of drs that dont like to do the weekly checks because it gets moms frustrated... Ive had docs tell me I wasnt close and I had baby 3 days later... I had drs saying I wouldnt make it to the next appt and I was at the next 3 scheduling inducement... Drs/midwives dont know everything and even they cant tell us when baby will come... after a few kids drs stop trying to predict because they know moms with experience know they arent all knowing. ALSO same for having a fast labor or even two... nothing saying #3 will be fast too.... Every labor is unpredictable.

lmgibson- I also tested positive for strep B. It's really hard not to freak out about it. But my Dr. seems to think it's nothing to worry about at all. Apparently 1/3 of us will test positive...seems so strange to have such high numbers and so little useful information about it.

Yay! 37 weeks and full term :) Doc yesterday said all continues to look good. Some days I am in a hurry to have him here and other days, I feel that I can wait. Everyone says he will come when he is ready to come. Still teaching and my student teacher (who will actually take over for me when I leave) has permission to finish her assignment a week earlier on the 4th so that she is ready to assume the long term sub position. We have our baby/lamaze class on December 5th since we did not plan on taking it due to a scheduled C Section, but now can have a VBAC so needed the class...hope we make it that far!

I have to say being induced is not all it is cracked up to be. I have been induced with my two prior children and once they break those waters - BAM! IT'S ON! I had my youngest daughter in one hour and 20 minutes and it was fast and intense from the get go! It might sound wonderful getting it over quickly but I could not stop shaking for the next hour after she was born. The thought of that again - knowing it will probably be even faster is the cause of all of my anxieties - ouch!! I would so love to just go naturally - I have 12 days left for this to happen before my doctor gets his needle-like instrument out to burst that balloon!

had my baby on wed. morning at 6:07am. it only took me a half of a push and a laugh to pop him out. it was so quick (litterally 4 seconds) the nurse told me i shouldnt tell anyone what a cake walk it was cuz they would all hate me:) i hope all of your deliveries go smoothly too!

Still suffering lots of BH contractions. I say 'suffer' not because they hurt but because the tightening leaves me completely breathless and I am so over it! It was over 40 degrees here yesterday (celsius) so I try not to venture outide too much - urgh - except to have a swim late afternoon which is glorious to take gravity away for a while but I wait til my husband is home and put up with the 3 year old nagging of my daughter the rest of the day. Today would be a great day for my lo to make an appearance - I am so done with aches and pains - we are both squashed and uncomfortable I think! Congrats to the new mums on the site and best of luck to the rest of us still hanging in there!

babyonboard - I love the name Aniya. We were going to choose that for this next one, but it just doesn't feel right. lol I'm so wanting to be done with this pregnancy, but I really hope she doesn't come until Dec. :) I'm just picturing sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner and my water breaking! lol
vickywoodhall - 2 days ago
today has been the weirdest day, tmi alert! i woke up very wet with watery discharge this morning but im sure its not amniotic fluid, my boobs have been really sore again and they had soaked me through too i have felt slightly off it and sickly and have had plenty of braxton hicks plus cramp in the top of my leg when i stand up lol its all fun i cant wait to get my own body back!

I gave birth to Ava Marie yesterday 11/18 at 11:08 am after about 10.5 hrs of intense labor. T(I will put up my labor story) She is a healthy and beautiful little girl weighing in at 7lbs 14.3oz and 20 inches long. I am so in love! Labor dust to all and I hope your labor goes well.
Ava Marie - 3 days ago
Marinewifemommy - I met a woman the other day who was put on bedrest at 3 or 4 months for the same thing. She was taken off bedrest a few weeks ago and is now 7.5 months along. Everyone is different but It is possible to recover if you take bedrest seriously. Don't push it ok.
lucy2009 - 3 days ago
I had an eventful night on Tuesday. I started having contractions every 3-5 minutes and lost a small amount of amniotic fluid. The hospital sent me home at 1am and said come back when you're in established labour, but the contractions stopped at 5am and my waters didn't break properly. Now i'm having regular braxton hicks, but they don't hurt any more. I guess he's not ready to make an appearance yet after all.

Update on NIKKI.E - She delivered a healthy baby girl (Jayde) on November 18th. She is going into surgery tomorrow to fix her badly broken leg. Please send some love to her page. I know how much she loved everyones support on this site. I can only imagine the challenges she will face being a new mom with broken leg. She would appreciate the support and messages when ever she gets around to making it back online. Thanks ladies - Labor dust to all! xo

styx- I took 4 intelligender tests and all of them said girl... which I found interesting that atleast 1 of them wasnt a boy and they were taken at 8wks, 9wks, 10wks, 12 wks. I will find out at a 16 week scan what they have to say about it.

Don't worry yourselves about names. With my first we had his name picked out right away and when he was born we decided to call him something else and never ever gave that other name a second thought..
marinewifemommy - 3 days ago
Hey ladies, I am here from week 11 and have a question. I am pregnant with my second baby but at 7 1/2 wks was diagnosed with a placental abruption (where theres a tear between placenta and uterus). Happens 1 in 200 pregnancies and not really known why. I had a miscarriage in Aug then 2 weeks after d & C got preg with this one. I have had very heavy bleeding twice in the last month but baby is still ok. I just have to be on strict bedrest til it heals completely which could take several months. I am just wondering if anyone or anyone you know has had this and if so how long did they have to be on bedrest? did it eventually heal? Did they go onto having a full term natural birth? Was baby ok? I am just worried and my dr wont give me a lot of answers. It's frusterating. He said it could go either way so I am just not looking forward to my baby being here til he/she is actually safe in my arms because I am almost 3 months pregnant. It will be devasting loosing a baby at this point or when I'm 4,5,6+ months pregnant. Please write me on my page and let me know if you've had this same thing happen and what the outcome was whether it was good or bad. Please. Thank you!

Today is the first day my hands and feet have gotten a little swollen. Went shopping with my sister and all of a sudden my fingers looked like sausages! Sat down for lunch and it subsided a bit. Guess this is my body telling me to slow down a bit.

I'm feeling pretty low right now! just seems like a lot of complications in this pregnancy! Tired of being pregnant! just flip and come out! oh and i am 2cm!
