Dates and numbers: There are 30 days until your due date on December 21, 2009.
You are 250 days pregnant.
You are 8.2 months pregnant.
You are in your 9th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: March 16, 2009 to June 14, 2009. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: June 15, 2009 to September 27, 2009. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: September 28, 2009 to December 21, 2009. (28 - 40 weeks)
Your baby now weighs over 5.5 pounds and its crown-to-rump length is approximately 13.2 inches. Your baby's total length is around 20.25 inches at this point. Your uterus is now 6 inches from the bellybutton and the average weight gain is approximately 24 to 29 pounds.
Most pregnant women begin to feel cramped and heavy around this time and often become tired of being pregnant. Some women feel like they do not have to room to breathe or eat. You should eat small, but frequent, meals and rest as often as you can throughout the day. Your cervix will begin to dilate and efface within the next few weeks to make room for your baby's head to emerge from the birth canal. Your cervix needs to be 10 cm dilated in order to deliver your baby.
This week of your pregnancy your baby's fingernails will have definitely reached the tips of his fingers. When your baby is born, his nails may look long and pointy. Your baby is less likely to scratch himself at this point because of the lack of room in the uterus. Fat deposition will still continue and your baby is getting chubbier and rounder. Your baby's shoulders are plump at this point.

adriana03 - Congrats on being so close! I don't think I'll go anytime soon. I just hope not to be in the hospital for Christmas. If it was my first I wouldn't care but I have a toddler at home. Last year he had no idea what Christmas is. This year it's a little more exciting although I know he still doesn't get it completely. Next year will be much more exciting. But still it's Christmas with my son.
adriana03 - 53 minutes ago
Yup well I'm home, with a couple of uncomfy contractions now. They said if I have them regularly and more painful to come in again. Due to my history of fast labors. But I'm happy that I've progressed now ill only have to suffer for 7 more cm's. I really want my baby now. I'm 36 weeks and measuring 37 so I think she's done cooking. Lol
Elizabeth21 - 3 hours ago
Yep I was 3-4 cms for a week with my first.
laurissa71 - 3.2 hours ago
Adriana - My dr let me hang out at 4cm for 2 weeks with number 2. When she came it was FAST!!!!
Bri - 4 hours ago
jenb32 - All I can say is hang in there. I got a steriod cream that really helped last time. Also, cold oatmeal baths at night, then wrap cold towels around your legs, mid section and arms. It really helps. Don't scratch, I have tons of scars from burst welts. I feel for you! I had PUPPPS for over 8weeks last time. It was crazy. The pharmists knew me by name cause I was in there every other day getting new meds to try.
adriana03 - Has your water broke yet? If it has then they won't release you. But if you are having false labor they will. Some women hang out at 3cm for weeks. Probably not the most comfortable but it looks like when labor actually begins you'll be in good shape. Good Luck!
Double, I think this guy goes up and down. I sometimes feel him in my pelvis, especially when I cough or sneeze. That hurts because all the pressure goes right there. But there other times I feel him right under the ribs too. Makes breathing difficult. Maybe he's just big, who knows?! It won't be long now! I'm thinking the 16th of the month sounds good to me. HAHA! I know I can't plan it but....it's plenty of time before Christmas and he will be old enough to come out. We'll see. Maybe some long walks come winter time. I would say sex but with my veins I can't even think of it. He'll come when he wants to. I'm not worried.
Elizabeth21 - Have you been doing pelvic tilts and such? I got my little guy to turn that way. Good Luck! Remember only 3% end up breech at the end. Hopefully yours won't be one of those.
adriana03 - 4.2 hours ago
That was my thought exactly. I'm surprised that they said I could go home. They're probably gonna check me one last time and then decide. But the baby hasn't dropped at all. Maybe that's why... who knows....
doublemama - 4.6 hours ago
3cm puts u in active labor..im surprised theyre sending u home..but i guess with irregular contractions theres not much to do.
im still having mine pretty frequently and he feels engaged. i can feel his head in my pelvis when i walk..which is a bit uncomfortable but it totally beats not being able to breathe. hes finally off my lungs and i dont have to huff n puff anymore lol. all iwant to do is sleep all day as if its my first trimester again..kinda hard with a toddler to keep busy. she is 'cooking' now in her play kitchen so im get a break :)
adriana03 - 4.9 hours ago
Well I'm still in the hospital and will be going home in a couple hours I think. Anways I got the progress I had hoped for. I'm about 3cm and still contracting but not regularly.they're more painful then this morning but times are all over the place. I'm looking at a 7lb baby already. Wow. I don't even think I should go home I have a feeling ill be back tomaarow
jenb32 - 5 hours ago
Just got back from my final Ultrasound!!! Baby A is 5.7 lbs and Baby B is 5.10 lbs! That's basically 11 lbs of babies I'm carrying around! Whew!!! Dr. sent a request to L & D to schedule my C section. He said 2 weeks which will be Dec 2 or 3rd. I can't wait!!! Don't know if I can hang in there with the PUPPPS! It's itching is driving me MAD!!!!!
Elizabeth21 - 5.3 hours ago
I'll take some baby turning dust please!!!
Martha03 - 5.3 hours ago
GoodLuck Adriana!! I feel as though I have grown to know so many of you.. and here it is time for us to be having our babies!!! This is such an amazing website... labor dust my girls!!!
Bri - 5.6 hours ago
adriana03 - Good Luck! I hope all is well. It's a little early to be giving birth but many are known to do it.
Double, I'm with you. I want him to be home for Christmas but I also don't want him to be born before 37weeks. Pretty much mid-December would be fine for me.
Only woke a couple times last night. Kind of refreshing. I'm still tender down there but I don't expect that to change until after birth. I'm happy, I feel completely worry free now. Nothing to do but keep house and watch my little guy. It's very nice to finally be able to just relax and enjoy my son and pregnancy. He does seem bigger then Kekoa though. Maybe I had just forgotten because I was comsumed with the PUPPPS that I couldn't focus on what was going on. He seems cramped all the time and push me to have a straight back. I was propped up in bed and couldn't do it for long because it was just too much on my lungs and such. Hmm? We'll see in another month or so.

zephyr, thanks so much. I totally forgot to wash the car seat liner. I am washing everything else. Also, don't forget to use a dye free, fragrance free softner like downy. That breaks down the fire retardant chemicals. I still am not convinced that my son will catch on fire or that having all that chemical on eerything that touches his skin (clothes, blankets, liners, ect) out weigh the risk of him catching on fire so I am attmepting to wash it off evertyhing. The Dreft site says fabric softner breaks down the fire retardant chemicals although I am not using Dreft because it has too much fragrence. I bough ALL free and clear.
gorogo - 8.6 hours ago
Zephyr: I have a graco car seat from my first and we just washed it using baby detergent. It seems to be fine with no smell.
adriana03 - 12.9 hours ago
Not sure if I'm gonna make my appt later today. Today at 1:50 am woke up with pain, and now its going on 4 and have had contractions 5 mins apart since waking up. I'm about to call doc and see what he wants me to do. The contractions are like clockwork but don't hurt much. So who knows. Will let you guys know later.

adriana-I have been experiencing extreme numbness in my fingers and pain in my elbow and wrist (only in right hand n arm), usually only at night and early morning for a couple weeks now. My doctor has given me a brace for the day and one for night that has helped a lot. Also I have found relief from cutting back on salt in my diet and really making sure I drink an adequate amount of water! It's easy to get behind on the amount of water we should be drinking because of the constant pressure in our bladders and bathroom runs. I found the best relief with my carpel tunnel was making sure I am constantly drinking water to prevent access water retention which in turn causes pressure on the nerves. My bonus therapy is having my husband massage my arm at night, thanks honey :-)

today i had a terrible shooting pain and my stomach(well preggo belly) hurt so bad to any slight touch mostly around my belly button, finally i look to see if its bruised, and my belly button which was normal this whole time has almost all the way popped out! wondering how it happened within a half day and if thats what the pain is. so weird, and im kind of sad i want my belly button back! hope everyone else is well

We never had a problem with our Graco that I had for my son. It's still really nice looking since we have a travel bag (for air travel) that we stored it in. I do need to clean out our stroller. Now that thing is getting nasty. HAHA! Kekoa still uses that so it gets crumbs and all sorts of stuff in it. Yuck! I also need to have my husband move the straps down to the lowest level again. It's at the highest right now. I have no idea how to do it. Oh well! We have time. Maybe I'll have him do it next week since he'll be off the entire week.
doublemama - 22.4 hours ago
that flame retardant is also linked to adhd according to some study.
Elizabeth21 - 1 days ago
zephyr- I put a liner like a sleeping bag sort of thing in my carseat. Of course we live a very cold climate being in Ottawa. But I think you can still get something that fits over top that's light. I know I've seen them. The straps and everything thread right through. That's what I do. I have Peg Viaggio and never had a problem but she was never in it without the liner and then we got an Alpha Omega seat for the car.
rlspregnancy3 - 1 days ago
Zephyr- I keep dreaming my hubby is having affairs too. It happens everytime I am pregnant - I think it's just because I feel so vunerable when I am expecting.
I'm shattered today, but we've had an ace time. It was my eldests birthday today so we have had 11 pre-schoolers for a party at the house, she loved it and it was so nice to see. She only started pre-school a few months back and never did nursery so we were worried she would find I difficult to make friends etc, no worries though, she loves it and her new friends are ace!
zephyr - 1 days ago
Oh, the joys of pregnancy... remind me again how much longer of this we have?
On another note, has everyone been washing their car seat padding? I want to, but I hesitate to because when I did it with my son's, it smelled REALLY strongly of chemicals and no matter how many times I washed it, it never went away. That was a Chicco... now I have a Graco, not sure if that makes a difference. Also, to let you girls know, my son for the first few months of his life struggled with REALLY bad areas on his skin which to me looked almost like burns and rashes, but the dr said it was excema. Nothing helped. UNTIL I did a little research on car seats and found out that they spray them with flame retardant. Each carseat has different levels of it on them. Once I changed car seats, his rashes started going away. It was funny because it was on all the exposed areas of his skin, not in the creases like excema usually is. That's what got me thinking about what he touches. There's a report on it at www.healthycar.org.
zephyr - 1 days ago
adriana03 - please let me know what your doctor says about the numbness... feels a little extreme for CTS, also why when we are sleeping only?
Bri - 1 days ago
zephyr - Dreams are completely normal. If you think about it, we are consumed with what's going on in our bodies and the anxiety that goes along with it. If we go to bed thinking about baby which i'm sure most of us do, especially when they are kicking us! Then we are bond to have funky dreams that may upset us. They don't mean anything, just fears. As for being weak and breathless while laying down, it happens to me a lot . There's lots of pressure on the lungs, even when we are on our sides. One thing that is said to help is to sleep propped up. I can't sleep sitting but I have known women to sleep in recliners because it was the only way they could sleep.
Bri - 1 days ago
trstbmbk - My breasts were never sore because my son didn't wean until three months ago. But, they did deflate a bit after the milk stopped. This past few weeks though they have been filling back up. I've also been experiencing the tingling sensation that you feel during let down. I've checked a few times to make sure I wasn't actually letting down, which I wasn't. They're full again now but not leaking. At least I fit into my bras correctly again.
zephyr - 1 days ago
Oh, and that's another thing... anyone else having horrible psycho dreams? I dream about my husband having an affair at least once a week, the last one he was in a threesome, and the next night, I dreamt my older son got killed during soccer practice, and last night I dreamed I got in a horrible car accident and my younger son got his arms and legs all messed up, but they didn't look like his arms and legs... they looked darker and like a newborns... WTH!! Also for a long time now have been waking up feeling like I can't breathe and my body aches all over and I can't move and I am very weak.
Bri - 1 days ago
zephyr - The difference is that this is on the labia. It's not as deep as the bone itself. I'm also swollen down there, which actually gets better when I'm not hurting and resting. Pelvic pain can be normal and does slow us up while in the last couple months of pregnancy but it's no where near what I have. I feel like there are hundreds of needles or knives sticking into my labia, deep. Not a fun experpience. If you are really concerned about your pain I'd talk to your doctor about it. I called on Monday about it and decided to wait for my doctor on Wednesday. I'm glad I finally was able to be seen and got the cream for it. I vacuumed today and spot treated the carpet. Little by little my pit I call home is becoming pleasent again. HAHA! After a week or two of not deep cleaning it was awful. But again, I have to rest a lot so I do one thing and then rest, then another. It's nap time now so I'm relaxing a bit. I guess I should lay down as well but I feel like when I sleep during the day I can't at night.
adriana03 - 1 days ago
I love that were experiencing the same things!!! For the past two day only ONE of my boobs hurts sooo bad. Its kinda weird and I thought crap labor is coming soon too. We'll see. I'm going to the doc tomaarow and defff gonna ask about the numbness.
zephyr - 1 days ago
trstbmbk - my breasts are very sore, too and HUGE!!! Veins all over!!! Feels like my milk is coming in or something... not sure if that means labor will start soon??
zephyr - 1 days ago
On the whole labor and delivery issue, my hubby and I got into it the other day because I had to go to the hospital for kick counts. He was out of town for the weekend again, and I wanted to leave my children with his brother who is a couple of miles from the hospital, which is 30 miles away from me, and he gave me an ultimatum practically when I told him that... he wants me to leave them with his parents, which I DON'T want to do, first of all because they are just as far from the hospital as I am, and also because they are VERY elderly and they don't understand food safety and their home is full of hazards... I've caught them several times giving him cheese that has sat out for an hour or milk in a bottle that has sat out for an hour, or juice with mold growing in it, etc, etc... also I personally got food poisoning from eating their food when I was 3 months pregnant... NOT looking forward to cooking food for my little one to eat while I'm in labor... I ended up leaving him there because my husband was so angry, but did not like it in the very least... not to mention, I am only somewhat comfortable leaving him there when my 10 year old is there, too because my older child knows exactly what I do and acts like a little mother when I'm not there, and not to mention my little one is VERY attached to me and our routine, and is only mollified by my older one being there... problem is, my older one is supposed to go to his dad's 4 hours away for Christmas break and that is right around the time I'm due... I really want him here to watch after my little one since he is such an awesome brother.... a little stressed about that too... On top of it, labor and delivery told me to be ready because since I had a baby recently, it might happen very fast. OK, bitchfest over...
trstbmbk - 1 days ago
During early pregnancy and up until about 25 weeks or so I had very, very sore breasts. From then on, they were only sore if one of the kids pinched me or pressed really hard. Now the last few days, they are very sore again to where when I move my arms I just want to cry sometimes! Is this a sign that labor will start soon? We only have 4 weeks to go, but hubby and I are hoping she will come in the next 2 weeks.
zephyr - 1 days ago
Bri - How is that pain different than pelvic pain? I'm just confused I guess to what I'm feeling... it feels like the bone hurts down there... I've cut out park trips for a couple weeks now... I just don't have the energy to chase him up and down the playground equipment and go down the slides with him because he's too little to do it himself. Unfortunately, mine is a very active little boy, so he is not content with books for any length of time... that and my 10 year old and husband has him hooked on SpongeBob (ugh!!) so it's a distraction game keeping him from asking for tv all day long... running out of things to do... my backyard isn't too kid friendly yet and neither is my front yard with the rosebushes and all... need some fun indoor ideas for him, poor guy... I'm sure it'll get worse for him once the baby arrives. By the way, you are a brave one cleaning the cat litter and turtle tank... I make my husband do the cat litter, pregnant or not... I hate it!!
adriana03 - My fingers and whole hands and arms go numb every night for the past couple of months... drives me nuts!!! The tip of my nose sometimes goes numb and tingles, too, but not always at night.
Bri - 1 days ago
doublemama - We have 'Crazy Aunt Murika' to come over if anything happens. HAHA! She is a 36yr old single woman. She's a lot of fun and works a lot but she has no idea how to raise a child. She is our last resort and it would only be until my MIL gets there. So it would be an hour or two max. If it's at night then she can just sleep and not have to worry about actually changing a diaper or anything. As for meds, I usually get Keflex or something along those lines when needing anti-biotics. It was negative last time so I'm sure it will again. My sister had two children and was postive on her third which was weird. I'm not worried about it though.
Adriana, my sides go numb while I'm sleeping or reading. It sucks! My husband wonders why I can't just lay on one side during the night. It hurts to roll over because of my whole vaginal problem. I'm having to use my leg muscles to turn me but it means stressing my nether regions. I love our Tempur-pedic bed because I don't have back pain but...it is sooo hard to get on and into place while pregnant. Rolling over sure takes practice. I'm sure I'll love it even more once the baby gets here but right now I need a fork lift to get me into the right position and then to roll me over every night a limb falls asleep. Although, if it's something that is happening during the day I would talk to your doctor about it. Limbs going numb is poor circulation and with our weight it's no wonder it's happening while sleeping but during the day? I'm not sure if that's normal or a sign of anythng more serious.
doublemama - 1 days ago
so i looked into what would happen if i went into labor before the group b strep test came back (mine is at 37 weeks for some reason)..seems they just go ahead n put u on penicillain anyway just in case. just thought id fyi cause sometimes u have to do the docs job n tell the hospital stuff. bri, i know ur allergic to the cillains..hopefully urs comes back negative but in case its positive be sure to let em know that at the hospital. they suck sometimes at putting 2 n 2 together.
doublemama - 1 days ago
i do have some friends that can come stay. most of the ones i would prefer are moms with their own lil kids so i would feel like its a bit much to ask of them..i do have some single, on their own ones i could use. if anything i just need hubby for the delivery itself, if it comes down to him needing to stay home with her thereafter im ok with that. the hospital is 6 minutes away so they can always shuttle back n forth to visit...so far they arent banning siblings of the baby from visiting..hoping that doesnt change.
adriana03 - 1 days ago
Has anyones finger been going numb? Mine have been going numb at night for the past three days and today for the fisrt time in midday. I was reading on it and it says its carpel tunnel ughh
Bri - 1 days ago
zephyr - I don't have pelvic pain but vaginal pain. I have vericose veins of the vulva. It's not rare but not common either. It is also something books and only a few websites talk about. It kills! She gave me a lidocaine and prilocaine cream that I put on twice a day. It is working along with lots of rest. I'm not on bed rest but when the pain starts I can't walk so I need to elevate my legs. Today has been good. I've been able to change out the water in my turtle tank and change the cat liter. YAY! They were getting a little mad. But, it's also only 10am here and the pain usually doesn't start until I've been up for a while. It's just the blood flow down there. The good news is that it should all go away after birth. So, only a few more weeks of it. It is bareable now that I have the cream. I'm starting to slow down anyways so it just means more books with the little guy and less park time. It's raining all week anyways so we can't go out anyways.
zephyr - 1 days ago
Bri, did the doc tell you what your pain was?? Because my pelvic pain is starting up... it's not excruciating yet, though.

Martha, most of the babies in my family are late too. My son was evicted early because of PUPPPS so I don't have anything to go by in my body. But, we didn't think he'd come for another two weeks at least if we didn't. That would have made him late as well. I'm not counting on him being here before Christmas either, but it's nice to hope a

Do you have a friend who could come over and just spend the night? I worry because my inlaws are an hour and a half away....more if it's night. During the night the ferries don't run so they'd have to drive around which could take several hours. So, I have a friend who would come over and spend the night while we head off. She wouldn't have to do anything but sleep and listen for the little guy if he woke up. It's during the weeks days that are scaring me. What if I go into labor while my husband is at work, MIL is at Hula (several hours away) and FIL is working (on base)? I'll have to take my little man to Bellevue with me and meet my husband there. Then it also means until someone can show up to take him I won't have a labor coach. Ugh! Oh well, it will all work itself out.
doublemama - 1 days ago
im getting worried cause there is a 3 day stretch in december where there will be no grandparents in the state to watch my daughter in case i go into labor. my parents are going outta town and my in laws wont have gotten in yet. ill be 38 weeks also. we have a ton of friends around thatll take her, but i really preferred for her ot be at home with grandparents in case its the middle of the night or something. i guess ill have to start lining up a plan of action just in case.
Bri - 1 days ago
mami2be1209 - You're right, there is no telling when they will come. Yes, I would love for him to be here for Christmas. I would love for him to come at 38weeks so I am fully healed during Christmas but who's to say. He may be a 2010 baby for all I know. I'm not going to rush things just because I want him on my schedule. I do want to avoid the hospital on Christmas at all cost. I have a 2yr old. I want to spend that time with him, either fat and pregnant or with a newborn. Christmas morning just wouldn't be the same if I were in the hospital. At least if I was he is too young to remember it...

at my ultrasound a cpl weeks ago, the baby's head came out to be 5th percentile while everythign else measured normal. of course i freaked out and wanted to run home and google but before i did the doc reassured me that when the head is so low, they just get a circumference of whatever they can see..which soemtimes isnt the widest part of the head so it isnt always accurate. things like that can throw off the weight estimate. i think if we listen to our bodies we can kind of tell how big the babies are. just from knowing what my firstborn felt like who came out to be 7lb 2 oz...i can tell this one is gonna be bigger..we'll see :)
gorogo - 1 days ago
Hi everyone! Just a note on ultrasound measurements: a friend of mine was told her son was going to be over 9 lbs at birth when the did an ultrasound right around 39 weeks, and he came out 7 lbs. And our hospital is ranked 7th in the nation for women/pregnancy, so they are pretty good. So definitely take ultrasound measurements with a grain of salt.
