Dates and numbers: There are 29 days until your due date on December 23, 2009.
You are 251 days pregnant.
You are 8.2 months pregnant.
You are in your 9th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: March 18, 2009 to June 16, 2009. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: June 17, 2009 to September 29, 2009. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: September 30, 2009 to December 23, 2009. (28 - 40 weeks)
Your baby now weighs over 5.5 pounds and its crown-to-rump length is approximately 13.2 inches. Your baby's total length is around 20.25 inches at this point. Your uterus is now 6 inches from the bellybutton and the average weight gain is approximately 24 to 29 pounds.
Most pregnant women begin to feel cramped and heavy around this time and often become tired of being pregnant. Some women feel like they do not have to room to breathe or eat. You should eat small, but frequent, meals and rest as often as you can throughout the day. Your cervix will begin to dilate and efface within the next few weeks to make room for your baby's head to emerge from the birth canal. Your cervix needs to be 10 cm dilated in order to deliver your baby.
This week of your pregnancy your baby's fingernails will have definitely reached the tips of his fingers. When your baby is born, his nails may look long and pointy. Your baby is less likely to scratch himself at this point because of the lack of room in the uterus. Fat deposition will still continue and your baby is getting chubbier and rounder. Your baby's shoulders are plump at this point.

Jeremysmummy-My doctor told me the best way to rid yourself of water retention is to drink more water. You wouldn't think so but it works.
Bri - 38 minutes ago
Kris1209 - Where's your brother live? My mom is in Richland and my sister is in Newport (North of Spokane). I grew up in the TC as well. The passes are pretty nasty lately anyways. You don't want them coming over anytime soon! We haven't even discussed my mom visiting once the baby is born. I suppose she can get a flight from Pasco to Seatac but we'll see. Stupid Snow and Ice! Having formula is a good idea. I have a can as well. Just a sample can that can get us through a night if need be. Things happen and you want to be prepared. My BIL had to run to the store their first night home with my neice. She just wouldn't sleep because she wasn't getting enough. My sister had complications and her milk wasn't coming in the way it should. After that I learned to have some in the pantry just in case. Which hospital are you going to? NorthWestern? I'm going to Overlake when the time comes. Can't wait! I had an awesome experience the first time around and I'm not worried about it.
MyBabySuprise - 42 minutes ago
Jeremys Mummy, lemonaid is a natural diaretic and so drink up. Also, my doctor told me to get compression hose. They are $12 at Motherhood
Bri - 43 minutes ago
babybellybliss - They do have pads but I would pack ones that you are comfortable with. The hospital grade pads are pretty thick and like diapers. I would pack breast pads. I don't think my hospital hands those out. They do have lanolin samples and even nipple shields if you are having troubles breastfeeding. As for the pump, as you planning on pumping only? If you are planning to breastfeed it is better to have baby suckle you. The baby's suck is different then the pump and will help your milk come in faster. The hospital will also want to see you feed and make sure you aren't having any trouble. I'm not planning on bringing the pump. As for diapers, the hospital will provide those for baby. I would pack a few in your diaper bag just because it is better not to go anywhere with baby without them. Another thing I'm packing that I didn't last time is baby nail clippers. Most hospitals provide a baby nail file but not clippers. I'm more comfortable clipping the little razor blades then taking the time to file them down. I find it's easier to nurse the baby and clip the nails at the same time. That way they aren't wiggling around.
Jeremys Mummy - Best ways I know how to reduce water retention is kicking your feet up on the couch and avoiding salt. I'm sure there are other ways but I know that every book I've read said to lay down with your feet up to reduce swelling. Salt is also known to hold onto water so by reducing that can help.
jessica111403 - My first son was content to just sleep all day. I didn't feel much kicking during the day. I felt his kicks usually once a day at 8pm. This little one gives me about an hour a day rest. He's constantly kicking, punching, head butting, and rolling to different sides. It's incrediable how different each pregnancy is. As for pressure. I haven't felt too much pressure this time either. Last time I did get a lot of head butts to the cervix which made me cringe. I don't remember when those started to happen though. I think it was later. Not looking forward to it though. Those hurt! This little guy definately doesn't like me to hunch over. Anytime I do he stretches out and pushes me to sit up straight. Already bullying me around! HAHA! Oh well.
Kris1209 - 46 minutes ago
I am so ready for these boys. The mailman dropped off a package from my brother that I asked him to send rather than driving over the mountains. It had my portable breast pump and all of the assessories and bottles, and sterilizer. I only need the inserts for the car seats and some emergency formula. Planning on breast feeding but with two I want to be prepared.
MyBabySuprise - 47 minutes ago
babybellybliss, you can bring your own pump to the hospital because the lactation consultant and nurses can help you use it correctly. You want to use their pump when you will have a baby in patient that you are pumping for when you go home because it will pull more out and help your milk come in better. However, your lil one won't likely need you to use a pump for awhile so forget their pump and bring your own.

Hello mommies!! Last day in week 35 for me :) Week 36 here I come. I am in super nesting mode. Cleaned the entire house, did all laundry (sheets, rugs and usual), did the grocery shopping, almost done xmas shopping and got all the xmas decorations up this weekend! This is my second baby and I dont remember the kicking and intense pressure being this bad. I think I am having BH contractions but dont know. I was induced with my first bc of ITP and dont think I ever had real contractions. I have the low platelets again and am kinda hoping that they will induce me before they get too low. Has anyone else ever had ITP??

Does anyone know how to make fluid retention subside a bit? I'm so swollen in my arms and lower legs I can't remember where my ankles were. The pain wakes me up at 4 every morning. The only thing that gets rid of the achy feeling is to get up and go for a walk. Frustrated!
babybellybliss - 2.8 hours ago
I am wondering if i need to pack things like diapers, pads, breast pads, nipple cream, for the hospital or will they have those things? i even read somewhere not to bring my breast pump, that they would rather you use the ones they have there, does anyone know if this is correct?

Morning ladies! Been real busy. I'm so glad because it makes the time go by faster! Can't believe Thanksgiving is this week. We're excited and planning a meal for about 20people so I've been everywhere this weekend and planning out my day for today. Lots of cleaning and such. But I'm feeling good. Had a great nights rest and the little man has been a very good boy all weekend. I'm excited that it's right around the corner. Hope everyone is doing well. Haven't been able to keep up with the conversation so hopefully all is well.

So just found out it's a big possibility that my hubby is leaving in Jan for 7 months. Argh...........this makes me grumbly. I'm trying not to concern myself with anything that isn't confirmed but for some reason in the past couple of weeks I've turned into a complete worrywart. I usually let things roll off my back very easily and I don't tend to worry about things until I absolutely have to. I just can't stop my anxiety and worrying this time around. It's keeping me from sleep. Very off for me.
michelle007 - 3.8 hours ago
HollieNJax, That is exactly what is going on with me, except if I do finally fall asleep , then the LOUD snoring starts, and my husband can't sleep and he wakes me up- last night I moved to the couch so we could both get some rest, but I forgot a blanket and froze, so heres another night of no sleep! I have gotten so big my arms and legs have been going numb and sometimes I get pretty dizzy! I can't wait for him to come out! I am too old for this. I feel like a big SISSY! LOL! Hope everyone is having a good day!

Good afternoon ladies and Hello week 35! So my doctor has finally cleared me of having any UTI's (urinary tract infection) but she says I'm dehydrated, which I'm having trouble understanding when I've been drinking water like a flippin fish! I'm having some hard core pressure going on and just feel miserable. I'm totally ready for this to be over, my 18 month old isn't taking it easy on me. I so don't think I'm ready to have two kids under the age of 2...UGH!
zephyr - 5 hours ago
Yes, I have been at the hospital alot lately, but mostly for kick counts... the pelvic pressure seems to have subsided a little today and not sure if I'm having BH contractions or not... trying to take it easy today... good luck with my little 20 month old!!

Wow I can't believe I'm about to be a first time mom! Its such a wonderful feeling! I thought I would never be able to experience this bc me and my husband tried for 2 years. Then when I gave up BAM! The Dr said I was pregnant with a baby girl!can't wait till she gets here! My husband is going to be wraped around her tinny little finger!

try...ur blood pressure is right at the high blood pressure category (anything above 140/90)....also could the baby have bruised ur side? i would say its the uterus stretching but with it only being one side it seems like it could be another reason. anyway it doesnt hurt to call in tomorrow morning, even if u have an appt tues maybe they would wanna do an ultrasound and this way they can get u an appt for that as well so u can be seen sooner than later (esp with thanksgiving n doc offices beign closed etc)

Hey guys! hope everyone's doin okay... i know everyone is miserable right now. but, hey, we're that much closer to meeting our new little ones, huh? :). Anyways, I hope I describe this right so that I can get as much of an accurate answer as possible before my dr appointment on Tuesday... But I think I may have pulled something, and I've never been any good at getting good results on google or anything , soI thought I'd try here first.. Okay, Here goes: My left side from just above my pelvic bone all the way up to my breast bone feels bruised. It hurts to cough, to take deep breaths... anything. Should I be worried? could I have just pulled something? I have been doing some major nesting, so I could have pulled it cleaning something. Who knows, but it hurts! I would appreciate any advice anyone has... also my blood pressure has been like 140 over 91 for the past few days. any advice would be greatly appreciated, like i said i have a dr appointment tuesday morning, but i just need to know if i should call in the morning or not.

zephyr..seems like ur at the hospital alot lately? glad everythign seems to turn out ok ever time
as for pack n plays we had one with my first n used it for about 3 months. she got too active to sleep in it so we moved her out and ended up selling it. i tried using it as a playpen when she was older but she hated that concept. i wont be rebuying one this time, just gonna use a bassinet in my bedroom till the baby nurses less at night then its off to his room he goes. maybe even before hes sleeping thru the night cause i want him used to being in his room early on like my daughter was. it works out great for us.

So, I had an interesting day... since about 10:30 this morning, I had been having really strong pelvic pressure down low... about 2:30 I called Labor and Delivery and they told me to come in... turns out the pelvic pressure was contractions... I was monitored for about an hour, and they were happening every 5-7 minutes... when I first got there, my blood pressure was a little high, but it slowly went down over time... I also had some protein in my urine, so they put in a catheter and completely drained me, and it came back fine that time... I am not dilated at all, and her head is really high, not near engaged. Even though they are happening every 5-7 minutes, they sent me home because they are not strong enough... told me to come back in when they are stronger... as I was watching the monitor, I noticed the pelvic pressure would come and go with the contraction, which I could not tell that before I got there... they felt pretty constant before that... so anyways, I left the hospital, and they got a bit stronger, but I went home because I didn't think they were that much stronger. So, here i am at home again. They don't seem to be coming every 5-7 minutes, but then again I have been very busy with my 20 month old and have not sat down to notice... they were never that strong to begin with. Just a lot of pressure. So, we'll see... oh yeah, they also advised me not to go out of town.

Ans Michelle-- I don't think I have slept well in at least 2 months. I have pretty much just accepted that it's gonna be this way for a long time!! I'm just so big and uncomfortable right now. It hurts so bad when my lil guy is moving around. I feel like there is no possible way I can stretch any more so he has to be cramped and it hurts everywhere in my belly, all my organs and stuff just hurt when he gets to moving around. I toss and turn all night and get hot, then cold, then heartburns, then have to pee. I'm just so over this!! I will be 36 weeks Wed....I hope he decides he wants to be here around 38 weeks or so but just going from my past, it's probably not gonna be the case. I was right at 40 weeks or over with my other 3 so.....uggh!
HollieNJax - 21.8 hours ago
babybellybliss-- We have a pack and play and it's a play pinz/other things so it works but the actual play pin part I think we have used once with 2 different kids! Definately don't buy one now, if you see later down the road that you would use it then yea but there's no need right now since you have a bassinet, the pack and plays have a place on top that they can sleep/nap, some have a changing table part attached as well so they are useful for other things besides the play pin part. Mine has held more laundry than kids LOL

Hi Ladies! How are the mommies today,I found out the other day that my C-section is scheduled for Dec 22 (tues)at 12pm but have to be there at 10am. That is like 1 month a way. I'm so excited! Anyways, I did not sleep at all last night I just tossed and turned , I could not find a side comfortable, is anyone else having trouble sleeping?

week 35 today! we picked up the swing today, and installed the car seat base, the only thing we have left to get is a can of formula in case she wont breastfeed or my milk wont come in. i have a question, we have a crib, and a bassinet that she will use in our room for a few months, is a play pen really necessary? or i guess i should ask how useful or handy one is? i wasn't going to get one right away

My water broke before I went into labor with my first. I did not start contractions until we were on our way to the hospital and it was several hours before the contractions were painful and regular. I feel my babies moving around but they are very active but very few of their movements or kicks are painful like others have described. You may be one of the lucky ones that are able to go through labor without pain meds.
doublemama - 1 days ago
mybaby..im the same as u..i never got period cramps with my first pregnant. i wouldnt have even realized i was in labor if i wasnt awake..the first 5 hrs didnt hurt at all. had i not been on the computer chatting, i probably wouldnt have realized i was contracting 5 min apart for an hr. that being said..the thing with labor is that it doesnt stop, so at some point ull realize and notice whats going on and with this being ur first u know u are likely to have time to spare as first labors take a while usually. i wasnt convinced i was really in labor till they got to 3 min apart..thats hwne i got around to calling the doc, packing last min things etc..and mind u the hospital was about half an hr away as well..all was fine cause like i said it takes hours :)
hollienjax - 1 days ago
MyBabySurprise-- I think you will be able to tell that you are in labor. Its not that it starts out really intense but its the timing. They are like clock work when your in real labor. Whether its 4 minutes apart or 7, they will be right on the money everytime. I laid in bed for an hour with my 1st timing them. I still wasn't sure that they were contractions because they didn't really hurt, just my stomach gettinf tight and a slight tinge feeling. But they started every 5 minutes on the money so I figured that's what it was and went on in. Even if you don't feel a lot of pain, your stomach will harden and you can feel that from the outside. I was expecting like a huge gush of water and them horrible pain (what the movies show!) And it was nothing like that when it first started. I went and showered, straightened the house, finished my bag, stopped for gas and doritos ( I know...wasn't supposed to be eating LOL) and drove an hour to the hospital. It started at 1am and we didn't get to the hospital til after 5am and I had him at 130pm. I think you will have plenty of time to distinguish what's going on and get to the hospital. Just go in with the slightest thought of labor, if its not they will just send you home. Can't hurt.
MyBabySuprise - 1 days ago
I am so confused. I never have had period cramps. Does that mean I won't know I am in labor until I got a baby coming? I noticed most of you say that is what you are getting and thats how you know labor is coming. So, what if I have those feelings but don't feel it? I also don't feel baby unless he is in a certain position. The us shows him moving and kicking hard on the doppler but I don't feel anything. I am worried that I am insenstive to the uterus and won't know if I am in labor or anything. Anyone else never had period cramps? I had a miscarriage once and had no idea it was coming. I was actually misacarrying and bleeding before I felt anything and then all the pain was in the vaginal area. None in the uterus or above. I thought that was normal but now I don't know. I guess I need to talk to the OB about that. Since I live alone and don't have anyone to rely on, I am afraid that I may end up giving birth totally alone if I don't have these sensations.

Hey there, thanks for all of your comments regarding false labour, I really appreciate it.
I've been cleaning heaps, but not because I particularly feel like I'm nesting, just because I know that if I don't clean the fridge properly or clean out the pantry properly it won't get done in the next six months and everything will just build up and I'll feel down. Today I finished my pantry and I'm soooo happy. A weight has been lifted from my shoulders.
Regarding the exercising thing though I have been so slack. My back, groin and hamstring have been giving me hell. I walked every day in my last pregnancy until 39 weeks. I haven't walked in over a week now and it's driving me insane. Oh well as you guys reckon though, not worth waking in the middle of the night in agony and trying to keep up with a 20 month old.

im also just so blah. i hate being so useless. i hate feeling like a terrible mom to my daughter. i hate having a to do list fill my head with no energy to get it done. i really hate getting dressed or seeing a body that isnt mine in the mirror. i dont mean to sound full of hate but im just in this funk, and really i dont feel like doing a thing about it. getting some cleaning done made me feel good this morning but those moments are getting fewer and farther between when i can actually get mmyself to be productive.
Kris1209 - 2 days ago
Slowly is the key to getting anything done. I managed to make breakfast, chicken broth, banana bread, and fold one small load of laundry (that is still on the couch). After that, I was too tired to make dinner so my DH managed to get dinner for my daughter and her 'big sister' our best friend's 6 year old who is spending the night so her parents can go out. Most of my friends are at a Cherry Poppin Daddies show tonight but I knew there was no way I was going. I am parked in my chair timing contractions that are all over the place. Having lots of them but no pattern. I took the meds to stop them so we will see. Tonight would not be a good night.

doublemama - I'm with ya! I was so active and then with my little vein problem it slowed me down. Now that I'm back to moving and grooving I feel the weight. It sucks! We went to the mall today and I could barely handle it. I felt so tired and heavy. Just about died when we got back to the car. Then went to eat. I drank so much and had King Crab. Hmmm! Yummy! But I'm beat. I know it's healthy and need to keep walking but wow it's exhausting.

ugh i was so good about the walking until last week i think is when i just couldnt anymore. i literally waddle bent over from how low he is..i can feel his head with each step. i have all these things i want to get done, but it just is too much effort to do any of em. itll all get done..slowly but surely
Rachael1209 - 2 days ago
zepher~ i have had the same thing going on. the period like feeling...and in the middle of the night. it's weird...i just assumed my belly was growing, more! i am definately to the point of wanting to do a bunch of nothing which isn't my nature. but i have no control. i havent walked in a week and was walking 5-6 times a week. i just get so sore and it's not worth waking up in the middle of the night and feeling like i've been kicked inbetween the legs. so anyway, i'm going to be induced with a csection by the 17th of dec. and i'm soooo ready!
doublemama - 2 days ago
tx...sex (let the semen stay in there as thats what ripens the cervix), eating lots of fresh pineapple (something in it mimics the effect of the meds they use to induce labor), lots of walking....id id these three things, i did get labor started..but that doesnt mean it continued! my labor stopped, and i ended up being induced in the middle..and lets just say it wasnt fun from there. i dont advise starting up labor, though i know how terribly tempting it is. my baby was NOT a happy camper, and had tons of issues as a result as well. just not worth it. i know hwo hard it is to wait..im so uncomfortable, for all the reasons u listed, im dying to try n start things up on my own as well, but im trying my best to stop :)

Hey ladies~ I'm so excited that i will be considered full term on wednesday at 36 weeks!! I am getting really impatient and wanting her to come already! I am hoping and praying that she comes really soon cause i dont think i cant handle waiting anymore as i can hardly breathe, my tail bone is killing me, sleep is like a guessing game and just to shave my legs at this point would probably be pretty entertaining to watch.. My due date isnt until dec 23rd and its my second child (i have a 8 year old daughter) and i dont remember hardly ANYTHING from my other pregnancy as i was very young and it was so long ago..anyone got any ideas on how i could send myself into labor, i want her to come in her own time but a little push never hurt ha ha....
Kris1209 - 2 days ago
zephyr - ask them to check you. I expect if you explain why they will do it. It is not a definative answer but they should be able to estimate cervix length and dilation with an exam.
doublemama - 2 days ago
i wish they would give us the ffn tests at our weekly appts that tell u if ur likely to go into labor within the next 2 weeks. that would at least give some time frame. id love to be able to go out of town n just get away..but too scared of the whatif's.
zephyr - 2 days ago
It certainly felt like my baby had dropped last night, but my belly is back today!! Just not sure if it's in the same position as it was before (high or low) and as big... anyways, I remember when I was induced with my last one, the contractions felt like alot of pressure, not sharp pains, but they were definitely in waves where I could time them... this, however, was just a deep, dull ache and warm, like you get when you are on your period... who knows!! I'm supposed to go 200 miles away for Thanksgiving for 4 days and I'm a little concerned as it's kinda a rural area and the nearest hospital is like 45 minutes to an hour away... my doc appt is on Wednesday, but at this practice they don't typically check you for dilation at all... wondering if they would if I asked to see if it's safe for me to go that far away for that long.
Bri - 2 days ago
zephyr - That's cool that your baby dropped! I would love to breath again but I know once they are in the pelvis it becomes harder to walk. The pregnant waddle! HAHA!
Hope all is well for everyone this morning. It's a pretty uneventful day for me and I suppose that is great. I became an insomniac last night but now I need sleep. The little man is going down in 20minutes so I'm excited to say....so am I!
mrsmom - 2 days ago
zephyr--sounds like your baby dropped--from what you described. Braxton Hicks create a tightening feeling. You may be having 'false labor'. Contractions do feel similar to REALLY REALLY REALLY bad period cramps. If they are in a pattern (same minutes apart) or you have more than (I think it is) five in an hour, call your dr.
