Dates and numbers: There are 36 days until your due date on December 30, 2009.
You are 244 days pregnant.
You are 8 months pregnant.
You are in your 9th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: March 25, 2009 to June 23, 2009. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: June 24, 2009 to October 06, 2009. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: October 07, 2009 to December 30, 2009. (28 - 40 weeks)
Your baby's crown-to-rump length this week is approximately 12.8 inches and the total length is around 19.8 inches at this time. Your baby now weighs almost 5 pounds. From your bellybutton, it is about 5.6 inches to the top of your uterus. Measurements of your uterus vary from woman to woman. You should not worry if you do not measure the exact same as your pregnancy friends or family members as long as you are growing appropriately. When your uterus grows and gets larger at an appropriate rate, it shows that your baby is growing well inside of your uterus.
Braxton-Hicks contractions are going to get stronger and more frequent within the next few weeks. Braxton-Hicks contractions feel like a tightening at the top of your uterus that spreads down and then relaxes. Many women mistake Braxton-Hicks contractions for true labor contractions, but this is rarely the case. Braxton-Hicks contractions will diminish if you get up and walk around and they should not be painful.
Your baby's hair continues to get longer and thicker. Your baby's hair color probably is not going to be the same color from birth onwards, so you should expect it to change in color. Your baby is shedding most of lanugo, but the amount of vernix caseosa is increasing. Your baby is taking calcium from you to lay down lots of bone. Continue to take your prenatal vitamins and drink milk to ensure that you receive enough calcium.
If you were to deliver your baby now, it would probably be called a pre-term infant instead of premature. The only difference is in the maturity, particularly lung maturity. A pre-term baby is less likely to need intensive care because its lungs have developed. Doctors can test lung maturity with an amniocentesis that checks levels of surfactant.
The baby now rests on your uterus and is no longer floating.
Fingernails now reach over the finger tips and the baby can scratch itself.

kirarus, take the clothes back to the store for store credit. That is what I am going to do
lafo - 13 minutes ago
So after feeling the way I did this morning, i had a dr appt and she did a NST. Turns out I was contracting every 4-5 minutes and babys heartrate was going way too fast. So i got to spend the rest of the day in the hospital getting monitored. My dr wants me to get an amnio next week and wants to induce me shortly after that.. at 36 weeks.
kirarus - 34 minutes ago
4thBABY4me- I completely understand about the shower. Even though I had a large turnout for my shower, I only received 5 things off of my registry! My son has tons of clothing, so when people asked what I needed, I told them NO CLothing! But still, thats what most people brought to the shower. I am greatful for what they bought but now there is still so many items that I have to purchase before the baby is born.
sfrizzell1 - 35 minutes ago
alittle88, I'm going in tomorrow for the c-section. NST's are a pain but you'll be done with them soon enough. The first few we had Sophia always fell asleep as soon as they hooked the monitors on. I'm glad she behaved herself with the last two. I guess she figured she might as well since she'll meet everyone soon. ;0) - - Ladies I cant believe that tomorrow at this time I'll be in recovery and Sophia will be here. It's just crazy and the days go by so fast...... I'm appreciating and enjoying every single kick she gives me tonight.
alittle88 - 37 minutes ago
yea, i asked the ob today and she said it was completely normal. her feet are there and getting caught? it's either my ribs hurt of I have major pelvic pressure. its just too fun. lol
MyBabySuprise - 46 minutes ago
alittle88, why do your ribs hurt? Is she still sitting high eventhough you are dialating?
alittle88 - 1.3 hours ago
Yay, bri- i was going to ask you if your boy was still breech or not. did that natural therapy you were talking about work? the sticks? sfrizzel- I am so sick of these fetal nst's. I do them twice a week and today i sat there for 45 minutes before she passed, on thursday she failed the test and they did an ultrasound. she just so happened to be sleeping both times! I am trying to mentally prepare myself for this induction on december 14th. are you still going in tomorrow sfrizzel? Good luck hun, i think about you everyday! Bed rest has been nice. I was working so much before, so nice to be lazy :) My amniotic fluid levels are still low. they fluctuate between 4.5 and 7cm so delievering at 37 weeks is just a must. I am already 2 cm dialated. she said I might not make it! but she thinks it will all be okay. hope everyone is feeling good! my ribs hurt!!

mybaby...i dont know the full dynamic of u n the father, but i would be gaurded as u said u would be...and if anything either he has had time to change and u two can be a team for the baby, and even a couple...or should it happen to not work out u would be able to tell ur child that u at least tried to work things out for the child's sake. ud also probably always ask urself if u should have given him a second chance. just tread carefully :)

momof609 - Dislocation happens with vertex babies too. My sister was 11lbs and delivered breech. If you have the right doctor things can go well, but like I said, many doctors today are not educated in breech deliveries. They are more complicated and require someone that knows what he or she is doing.
momof609 - 2.8 hours ago
I would never allow them to deliver my baby breech... my sisters daughter who is now 27 years old was breech and she came out with dislocated hips that required 2 years worth of casts and harnesses and my poor sister never really had a newborn baby as she was cast as soon as she came out.... and after TRYING to deliver breech... they ended up taking c sec... I think a c sec is a MUCH LESS of a risk to baby then a breech delivery.
Bri - 3 hours ago
sfrizzell1 - Don't worry, you won't be cold! You'll be numb and they also have blankets for you. No worries! Good Luck tomorrow. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
sfrizzell1 - 3.8 hours ago
Hi Ladies, we went in for our final fetal non stress test today and Sophia behaved herself once again. We didnt have to spend all day trying to get the 20 minute reading they need to approve us to go home. After the NST my nurse showed me the operating room and the area where the neonatalogy team will take Sophia as soon as she's born to make sure she's stable. While she's in that area they'll let my kids and family go back to see her. Then the'll bring her to see me and then off tot he NICU she'll go. I feel a little better now that I have seen everything but it's freezing in the O.R.! I know some of you warned me but you didnt say it feels 20 below in there! LOL -

Not many doctors will turn a baby like that. They'll do an ECV at 37-38weeks but they don't stick their hands up there. It's too risky for mom and baby. If you go into labor early they either will deliver breech or do an unscheduled section. Talk to your doctor to find out if they do deliver breech. Some doctors (especially younger ones) aren't practiced in breech delivery. My doctor is older and back in the day they used to deliver breech all the time. It wasn't routine to just do a section for a breech delivery. So, I was confident that I could do a breech delivery with her if that happened. Of course he turned the other week so I'm jumping up and down! So so thankful! Remember only 3% remain breech by delivery so you have plenty of time. My sister was 10days over when her first was born. This means Anna was breech up until 6days over! Good Luck!
MyBabySuprise - 4 hours ago
mrs.mizer, if my doctor thinks the plan is to shove his hands up there and turn my son then he has lost his mind. I will go to another hospital to deliver that he doesn't practice in. That sounds AWFUL! Bri, Nopey, and Hollinjax, thank you for the support.
Bri - 4.1 hours ago
MyBabySuprise - I'm glad he now wants to be a part of your life but I would be weary with my feelings regarding him. He really acted like an ass. I know it could be from fear that you are having a baby but honestly that was the wrong way to go about it. You are a smart girl, be careful with your feelings. Don't make any irrational decisions while pregnant. As for waiting until 39weeks. Some babies will turn at 39weeks. My sister's first child was breech up until the end. She turned only a few days before labor began. Also, I know you've heard me say it many times, but some babies do need the full 40weeks to cook. Some just aren't done at 38weeks. Your doctor is smart by playing it by ear. Let nature take it's course and only doing a section 'if' it looks like he won't turn. I know you want him out now, so do I! But, we just have to wait.
mrs.mizer - 4.2 hours ago
mybabysurprise: the last 2 ultrasounds ive had ( 4d and one schedualed by my doctor) in both my baby was breech too. my doctor said if shes that way by the time i give birth he'll have to stick both hands up there and physicaly turn her around..( talk about oouucchh ) i even asked him why not just c-section her out but they wont inless smething goes wrong, so a c-section is pretty much last on the list. so im hoping this ultrasound ( i have one this comming wed ) shell have turned. last 5 6 weeks shes been all in my ribs, so im praying its feet! good luck with everything!

MyBabySuprise : I'm happy you are going to try to make things work. I just hope he appriciates you. I'm sure he feels bad for everything he has done and said.. but you need to be strong... and BE happy!!!
hollienjax - 4.4 hours ago
MyBabySurprise-- I'm happy for you. I hope things can get better for yall. Of course your feelings are still there, your carrying his child. I really do think people deserve 2nd chances and sometimes more if their really worth the trouble! People will probably judge but no one knows how they will react to certain things until they have been there. Even the most 'perfect' people might surprise themselves when faced with turmoil. Again, best of luck to yall and I'm happy for you and your son!

I just got back from the Dr and baby is about 6lbs (OMG- my biggest niece was 6lb 3oz at birth) and he is NO WHERE near dropping. His head is under my right rib and his but is on my left side. THey are going to do a US in 4 weeks (week 39). Why would they wait so long? If he is breach, then I thought they would take him out in week 38 or 39. I guess I will have lots of appts between then and now and they can change the us date. Also, the Father of my son and I met last night and we are going to start trying to patch us back together. He gave me money for the crib mattress, which was a big relief. I kind of feel like a loser giving him another chance after how he has behaved but when I saw him I knew my feelings were still there, regardless that I am also hurt. He said my stomach was huge but kept his hands on it most the time. I am hoping this will be a start to a postive relationship between me and him and him and baby. I am somewhat hesitant still though. We will see as time will tell.

It also helps your uterus shrink quickly back to size and decreases bleeding after pregnancy.
jaygee - 5.6 hours ago
Red Raspberry leaf tea won't induce labour. It tones the pelvic floor muscles and uterus, making contractions more efficient. It also contains a lot of vitamins and minerals beneficial in late pregnancy - calcium, iron, vit c and others. It is recommended to drink 1 cup in the 1st tri, 2 in the 2nd tri and 3 in the 3rd tri.
estellablu2 - 6.1 hours ago
speaking of reflexology - I think there are certain pressure points you can do on yourself to help induce labor too...not sure if it's an old wives tale but google it. I remember doing that in my last pregnancy to help get my labor started....i was so desperate! Nothing helped me though...but maybe it'll help some of you - of course, when we're full term!
estellablu2 - 6.2 hours ago
I drank Rasp Leaf Tea with my 1st pregnancy - didn't do anything for me! I had my baby a day before my due date and only because I had a scheduled c-section! I heard that it doesn't actually INDUCE labor, it only helps tone your uterus.....and relieve menstral cramps if you have your period.
mugs - 6.2 hours ago
It is so good to know so many of you are experienceing the same things I have been this weekend....I have an appointmnet this afternoon but have been having menstrual type cramping all weekend, increased discharge and pressure down there as well as braxton hicks tightening. It's driving me nuts! It is a relief to hear most f you are having similar symptoms thoguh...sorry for you but it makes me feel better!
mamakerry - 6.3 hours ago
Oh and ive also got a reflexology foot massage booked for a week before my due date, so looking forward to that!!! :)
mamakerry - 6.4 hours ago
babybellybliss: I've heard that you should try the raspberry leaf from 4 weeks before your due date, it is not only supposed to encourage labour, but its supposed to help tone your uterus so that your contractions are more effective. I have got the raspberry leaf tablets and plan to start taking them from 36 weeks :)
NOPEY - 6.8 hours ago
babybellybliss : I'm going to drink some tea at 39 as well - never tried it. it's my first pregnancy =)
babybellybliss - 7 hours ago
has anyone tried the organic raspberry leaf tea to induce labor, i am not sure it would work. would love to hear if any one has tried it in previous pregnancies, i am thinking about trying it after 39 weeks, if it doesn't work it sure sounds like it would last good lol
jessica holt - 7.8 hours ago
NOPEY- I am thinking about doing the same thing. For one, I want her here and second I could use a good massage :)

I can't believe im 34 weeks now, novemeber went by fast. 2 more weeks untill my DH comes home from work So far it's been 6 weeks since I have felt him, cant say since I've seen him cause he has a web cam , so he can see the babys :P ......This weather is killing me, it's the end of november and where I live we normally have about 2 feet of snow by now at the least.... normally it starts snowing the begginging of november , But it's been warm, and gloomy , not a single day without overcast & rain , we havent seen blue sky here for a while. I'm NOT complaining its good for now. I dont have to worry about falling in the slippery snow.

I'm so ready that I'm seriously thinking in getting a 38-week natural labor induction massage (it's a prenatal massage that boasts an 84% sucess rate at naturally encouraging labor to begin on its own within 2-5 days following the message) Can you help me say I'm ready for my baby to be here!

They say most women get to a point where they are just ready to get their pregnacy over with... Well I'm to that point! Between contractions(which doc said are real ones now), the constant, what feels like period cramps, the big belly, the presure on my bladder, and everything else... I'm SOOO ready for this lil one to just come out! I hope these next few weeks fly by! I got 3 more weeks till the doc makes his call on the induction... I can't wait till that appointment! Thank God Novemeber is almost over! Bring on December!
estellablu2 - 9.5 hours ago
sounds like we're all on the home-stretch of being miserable! The last few weeks are always the WORST!
estellablu2 - 9.7 hours ago
hollienjax - i know what you mean. I probably will end up not going early and being miserable the next 4 weeks!
hollienjax - 9.9 hours ago
Estella--ive had the exact same feeling. Its really weirs cuz I can't explain it but its like my body is getting ready and trying to tell me! It could mean nothing but it still has my mind wandering! I will be 36 weeks Wednesday (this week is way more active so I chat here as well!) Anyways, I've just had these cramps and BH way more frequent and they get pretty uncomfortable, right when I say OK I'm gonna time them they stop. I'm so big! It hurts when he moves. I just feel like I did when I was due with my others. Its probably nothing and I will just be feeling 'weird' for another 4 weeks haha. But maybe...

Morning LadieS: I guess I'm not the only one with the horrible pain.. my weekend was painful... Back to work and I cannot wait to get off from work. We finished child birth class on saturday. It was a really good class. I'm glad we took it...
lafo - 10.8 hours ago
I keep getting cramps, and I know they dont mean anything because they arent regular, but Im seriously gonna cry. I cant deal with this anymore.. not sleeping.. the pain.. I know Im a whimp but I just want her out. I wanna feel normal again.
estellablu2 - 11.1 hours ago
Phew, I only have 4.5 weeks left until my scheduled c-section...however I have this feeling my baby might come sooner! I've been feeling 'odd' lately and having alot of weird pains and lots of contractions....not to mention that i've had an increase of thick discharge....ewww, i know!
estellablu2 - 11.1 hours ago
babyluv04 - I have a couple of girlfriends that had babies in week 34 and 35. The one in week 35 had her baby and he was completely healthy and didn't need to go into the NICU at all...he was completely developed and perfect - just a tiny peanut at a little over 5 lbs tho! The other one had a baby and she was still hairy and had to stay in the NICU for a week or so...but still turned out perfect! :) At this point in our pregnancies, if a baby were to be born, the chances of major issues are minimal...but it's still good if the baby cooks a few weeks longer! :)

Good morning. Worst. Sleep. Ever last night! We got a new bed, but didn't get a mattress yet...so we set up the bed, and just slept on our old mattress in the livingroom. I was awake every hour on the hour. I would just turn from side to side..which is hard as you all know. My hips and lower back were in so much pain. I went for my morning walk this morning too..legs were killing me..more than usual. I'm just plain sore down there..my walk is definately a waddle now. Man I hope I go early. My sister lent us her cradle. It matches our crib! Like a dark oak color. Anyhoo, thats about all thats new with me. Have a good day.

My baby shower is Dec. 13...kinda close but my girlfriends are taking me out...they said to be ready at 11:30 and that I'll be home for 6:30!!!! Wonder what they have in store? It's my second so I didn't want a traditional shower - I would have loved some cake and tea w/ my girls so they decided to treat me but I have no idea! I hope there isn't too much walking involved b/c at 2 weeks b/f delivery, I know my ankles are going to be stumpalicious!!
babyluv04 - 18.4 hours ago
Hi all, congrats to all who had their showers! I also don't get a shower lol I have had 2 babies in one year so don't need anything besides Diapers and rec. blankets anymore, trying to make a list to pack the bag, I woke up with severe pressure down there and now having contractions with more pressure, I went to the bathroom and a large part of my plug,,it was clear and gooey like boogies or something lol, but a big glob came out, kinda scared I want her to stay in until at least 37 weeks, thats when we had my son and he still had jaundice and was pretty lethargic, I want a healthy big baby so I am aiming for 2-3 more weeks but I think this one has other plans for me. Anyone know of others that have had their baby in weeks 34-36 and the baby being ok?
Sfizzel...you and baby sophia are in my prayers for Tuesday, God will be there watching over your little angel!

whitney, the sharp pain in ur pelvic area could be a number of things. pressure from the baby dropping, baby moving around and hitting something, cervix dialating, etc if it becomes unbearable or interferes with ur life talk to ur doc.
doublemama - 20.7 hours ago
we used a pack n play for about 3 months, she got too active around that time n it would shake with her in it so thats when we moved her out. it was quite convenient before then.
sfrizzell..ull have to keep up with us week by week even though you'll reach the finish line before us! ive been thinking of u and i know ill be anxious to find out how everything went so please make sure to update when u have the chance. itll also be good for u to talk about the whole thing. we're all here for u :)
4th, im glad ur shower went well. good thing ur set on clothes, one less thing to worry about!
Avocat29 - 22.7 hours ago
kate, I used a pack and play as DD's main bed until she was 4 months old at which point we transferred her to a crib. She's still in her crib so we're going to use the pack and play for the baby until he's about the same, 4 months. Plus I'll be nursing and it's so much easier to have the pack and play next to my bed...as for basinettes, we had one and it was gorgeous and designer and she and we both hated it. It was all enclosed and kind of stuffy looking...she did NOT sleep well in it and it seemed like air did not circulate well in it. So we got rid of it. Also DD is a tall girl and she would not have been able to be in the basinette for any amount of time.
sfrizzell1 - 23.7 hours ago
Congrats on the baby showers ladies! They are always so much fun and gotta love getting the free stuff, lol. - - - - - katesyb - I used Rasberry leaf tea with my 2nd pregnancy but it didnt work. I waited until week 38 when I knew we were going to induce in week 39 in hopes of not needing the induction but I was disappointed. - - - - - -wwhitney - I think what you are feeling is the pressure from baby. I think I can speak for everyone on here when I say we all feel the same pains. - - - - - estallablu2 - I dont remember it hurting that bad when my 2 kids dropped. Sophia has decided to turn breech again so I wont have to deal with that this pregnancy. I hope she flips herself back around for the c-section on Tuesday. How are you going to manage with all the pressure now and with 6 weeks left to go? Do you have a maternity belly belt for support? - - I'm really going to miss being pregnant and going through all this with you guys!
4thbaby4me - 23.7 hours ago
wwhitney...I get those pains too and its caused from my babies head being very low and putting pressure in the pelvis. Not sure if its the same for you but its my guess, ask your doctor if its unbearable. Had my baby shower today. Everyone showed up that was supposed to and got alot of clothes, diapers, and blankets. Didnt get anything from my registry so I was a little bummed about that. I spent hours doing the registry and it was the items I needed most but at least I got a really good start on clothes! The entire shower went smoothly and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves but it really tired me out! Having the shower really helped to put into perspective just how close we are to having our baby girl here with us. Cant wait!
estellablu2 - 23.8 hours ago
aww, for those of you that had baby showers - COngraTS! That is so much fun and really makes everything seem so much real! Since this is my 2nd baby - I don't get a baby shower :( That's ok...don't really need anything anyways :)
