Dates and numbers: There are 55 days until your due date on January 17, 2010.
You are 225 days pregnant.
You are 7.4 months pregnant.
You are in your 8th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: April 12, 2009 to July 11, 2009. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: July 12, 2009 to October 24, 2009. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: October 25, 2009 to January 17, 2010. (28 - 40 weeks)
By week 32, your baby weighs nearly 4 pounds! The crown-to-rump length of your baby is approximately 11.7 inches and the total length is about 18.9 inches. Your uterus is now 5 inches above your bellybutton. Some doctors do not see their patients every other week until now. So, if you were going to the doctor monthly, you may begin going once every other week now.
Sleeping boy. the baby sleeps 90-95% of the day, and sometimes experiences REM sleep, an indication of dreaming.
Now that your baby has grown so long and your uterus is higher, you might notice a new discomfort. Your baby is probably head-down and may occasionally stretch out and kick you in the ribs. The pressure on your rib cage can make you sore, especially if one of your baby's feet becomes caught. You can prevent this by sitting up straight as much as possible. Because your baby's demands for vitamins and minerals are higher than ever right now, you should continue to take your parental vitamins for the entire pregnancy.
This week your baby's movements will peak. You should continue to monitor the fetal movements daily and address any concerns with your caregiver. The wrinkles in your baby's face are disappearing and fat is still being deposited throughout the baby's body.
The body growth slows down from now on.
Because of the lack of space in the uterus, the legs are drawn up in what is known as the fetal position.
As a preparation for breastfeeding, your baby has learned to root for the breast. The baby will turn its head if touched on the cheek and open its mouth if the bottom lip is tickled. By this time the baby can also suck and swallow in a coordinated way.

Hey ladies. has anyone else stopped gaining weight. I haven't gain any weight in almost a month! I'm calling my dr first thing in the morning.
louisec - 2.8 hours ago
all this mucus talk, I think its all to do with flushing out the bacteria of the vag. Its quite normal. there are glands in the vagina and this is where it is produced, only if the smell becomes offensive and looks green do you go and see your health care person.

first-time-mom1449: This is my first baby after miscarriage, so I kind of know how you feel. I was also worried about excessive discharge early in my pregnancy, like boogers as you say. Turns out it's quite normal and common to get this. I'm 32w now and I still get what I call 'crotch snot' every day! I wear a panty liner to keep an eye on the amount and colour...

Hello ladies, Im so Happy just got home from my baby shower. It was so awesome and Im glad its over ebcause I have been so stressed about it. I got 1 thing off my registries and everythig elwe was random but cute. Lots of gift cards and some cash too so we'll be going shopping for the rest of the things we need. Has everyone already packed their hospital bags? When are we supposed to do that? Anyways I'm so upset that streatch marks have finally set in across the bottom of my belly. UUGH! Im glad that at least they're on the bottom (in case I opt for a tummy tuck, they can all be cut off) Hopefully she'll come at 37 weeks and not have much more time to wreck any more havoc on my poor body.

That's what I thought (about the appt.s). My mw is not seeing me again until 34 weeks. I'm kinda pissed. It seems like she is pretty busy these days too so I don't think I'll get to see her on a weekly basis once I hit 36 months. Ugh, how frustrating!

Also thank you so much for responding to my ad ladies means so much to have caring people out there... This is my first baby and i'm super nervous (had too many miscarriages)
first-time-mom1449 - 17.5 hours ago
the color of my mucus is see threw almost but it did have a light light tint (just like a booger) which was what i was referring to when i said color. I did look it up and everyone seemed to have the same shade but some have blood luckily mine has had no blood but this stuff keep coming (not like the first time but its still coming out) sorry I didn't state that better

first time mom--i'm not a doc or anything, but i'm pretty sure that yellow and green is always a sign of infection. infections are very common in pregnancy, i would phone your hospital right away and ask to speak to a nurse. they will tell you if you need to come in right away or not. good luck!

first time mom- Sounds like yu may be losing a part of your mucous plug. I don't know all that much about it but when mine came ut with my daughter it was very sticky and thick. I know some ppl lose them early and I don't think its that big of a deal but you should contact your health care provider and google mucus plug. Good luck

chrisplus2: I see that you are having a C-section out of personal choice. In the U.K This is almost impossible to do unless you are a private patient, which goes to show that the high risk of complications with c-section's compared to a much lower risk for natural delivery is ignored when money is involved.
This is why the U.S has a 30% rate of c-sections. compared to a much lower rate in countries that have a non profit making health service.
I just wonder whether all the real risks of severe complications, that can endanger your life have been discussed with you in detail by your care provider.
Every person undergoing any form of major surgery has to be have knowledge of the risks and facts. This is the only way you can make an informed choice.
I am a nurse and i have dealt with patients that had complications from a c-section, that initially went fine at the time of delivery, but shortly afterwards the mother developed heart problems as a consequence of the major surgery. She didi not have a history of heart problems. She could not go home for 2 months and her husband had to look after the baby.
I am not stating that this is a common occurance, i am merely pointing out the fact that this is major surgery with more risks attached than having a normal delivery.
which is why in my country , there has to be compelling grounds for it such as the baby is so distressed that there is a risk to its life or a risk to the mothers life.
just adding a link that may be of interest to you.

redlipstik i started seeing my doc. every two weeks after my 28th week appointment...and after 36 weeks i think i will see her every week
redlipstick - 2 days ago
Question, at what point should your doc/mw start seeing you every two weeks. I was under the impression that at 8 months, you'd go in every two weeks and then at 9, every week? My mw scheduled my next appt. for one month. What's up with that?

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to be here in week 32. Have felt great up until this point but this week have noticed that I am getting quite a bit of swelling in my feet and ankles. Has anyone else noticed this?
Mama2B 01-10-10 - 2 days ago
gloria--i haven't checked mine, but you made me curious. i might have to take a peek now! i did just ask my fiance though and he said it looks the same lol. pregnancy has definately left it's mark for me though... my boobs will never be the same! they were big before and they're huge now, and my nipples are so big and dark! alright i'll stop now.

ok, here's a personal Q/ I dont normally look down there, but after my showere tonight, I did. It kinda freaked me out a bit to see a difference in the vaginal opening, it looked lowere and bigger. Has anyone noticed any visual difference down there?

7 weeks to go or less! Last day in week 32. I cannot wait for my baby to arrive! I washed and his little clothes today - I was gushing the entire time. Boys clothes are so cute!
Mama2B 01-10-10 - 2 days ago
i love the picture in this week. when we had our last US this was how our baby was positioned... head down, with all hands and feet by the head! i'm really anxious for my next appointment. i just did a 24 hour urine collection to test for protein since i have high BP (160s/100s). on a side note, my hospital is not allowing any visitors during or after delivery due to concerns with H1N1, and there is no nursery for viewing either because they firmly believe in 'rooming in' with your baby.
redlipstick - 2 days ago
Quesiton, how many of you are planning to do uninterrupted skin to skin contact for the first hour/90 mins after birth? I really want to do this this time, but I need to talk to the midwife first because I also really wanted to make this a 'family' event lol. I am having my husband and 15 yo daughter there while I deliver but my 12, 8 & 5 yo boys will be in the waiting room and would like to have them come in after I've delievered and all...except that I'm kinda wondering how that will work...not sure if I will be covered up enough or not. I would also like to have DH hold her skin to skin for a bit so maybe the boys can come in while he's holding her so that I can get put together some lol. I am getting so excited about labor. Sounds masochistic, but the prize at the end of the road is worth it!!!

reneemg - I also think it might just be discharge and urine, however, being as how I have now had BV and a bladder infection in the last couple of months, it doesn't hurt to have your doc do a speculum check. I didn't even realize I was having a bladder infection, or BV for that matter, so just for your peace of mind, maybe you can have the doc check you. Plus, they have to do the GBS test soon so they might just go ahead and do that at the same time. Good luck! I'm on Day 3 of anti-biotics for the bladder infection, and the pills are big :o(

sil-n-carlos0110, I am having a really hard time staying asleep eventhough I am exhausted all day. I did the dishes at 2a.m. and a load of laundry the night before last.

Hello ladies!!! I am so excited to be writing to you all! I had my doctor's visit yesterday, and she was shocked to see how big I got in the past two weeks. She is having me do a growth ultrasound next week because I measured at 34 weeks instead of 32. So I hope that this means my baby will be here sooner! I can't wait to hold her! I keep on feeling like she will be here before the new year! I really wish it goes that way. As far as pain and all that goes, i'm feeling a little lower back pain from time to time. Also the lower vaginal pain. My nightly sleeping patterns are so disturbed now. I fall asleep for like three hours and i'm up for three or four. By the time it's time to get up I am feeling so exhausted and I only get like five hours of sleep total. Then during the day I cannot nap at all!!! Any of you other mommies having this problem?

What can you do for a shower if you will not know the gender prior to birth? Any idea or anyone who has done this please comment on my poll. Thanks.
MyBabySuprise - 3 days ago
mommy2many, I can't wait to read your birth story. reneemg, sounds like discharge and urine. I could be wrong so you should check with the doctor
LivingMyDream2GIRLS - 3 days ago
Had an ultrasound a few days ago...Our little girl is head down and weighs 4lbs. 5oz. Estimated birth weight is 7lbs. 5oz. according to ultrasound tech. I am measuring 10 days ahead, but they won't change my c-section date. Tech confirmed gender again because I am so convinved my Princess is going to come out a Prince ( I REALLY, REALLY wanted this one to be a girl) and she could show us in great detail that our baby is indeed a 'she'..LOL. So surreal seeing the ultrasound. She went from a little bean who we could barely see to a huge baby that wouldn't stop kicking the techs device. Can't wait to meet our second little Princess.

chick ~ my first was with drugs went into labor on my own at about 37.5 weeks. i'm hoping to make it to 37 weeks this time but my lil man is measuring 3 ahead and has been for the last 3-4 months and i will be doing drugs again. i just dont think i could handle the pain. i also felt the ring of fire with my first as my epi did not seem to work during her head. lol
mimi2b2aboy - 3 days ago
renee ~ that could just be ur mucus plug your starting to lose. when your water breaks or leaks it is not slimmy. :)
reneemg - 3 days ago
This is TMI but I have to ask. I'm leaking a watery discharge and its somewhat slimy. Is that amniotic fluid or just some type of discharge. I have had all c sections so my water has never broken and I don't know anything about it. Help.

Re: restless legs, yes, I've had it for weeks and it's been a right pain, I have found however, that showering right before I go to bed seems to relieve it for long enough for me to get to sleep at least.
mommy2many - 3 days ago
Had my midwife visit yesterday and both girls are still head down and I'm doing great. After Dec 18th I am good to go for our home birth. I don't think they are too eager to go anywhere soon because neither one has even dropped into position yet. It is so neat to feel them pushing their hands towards each other and playing.
sarahmcc - 3 days ago
With my first baby I went into premature labor during my 32nd week, we were able to stop me from delivering until week 36. Now that I'm at week 32, I admit I'm a little nervous. I just hope that this one is a little more patient about meeting the world.
3rdOnBoard - 3 days ago
chickster- Yes the count down is on. I am hoping for a natural drug free labour. The midwives forced the gas mask on my face with my first and I hated it. My second was drug free and I felt much more in control. I have a feeling this one may arrive early but my hospital only takes you from 34 weeks onwards...so one more week and I'm safe. Of course I hope I get to 37 weeks though.
chickster - 3 days ago
an(ela- can you get bio- magnesium or a magnesium-calcium supplementy where you are? 3 per day initially and then after a week 2 per day sorted me out- and the extra calcium is always handy!!
an9ela - 3 days ago
anyone else get restless legs? any suggestions how to overcome it?
chickster - 3 days ago
Wow, week 32 just crept on me- 5 weeks till we're full term girls... I'm starting to recall the 'ring of fire' with DD- eeekkk.
What sort of labour are you all going for? I've had 2 drug free VB- first pain free, second induced and EXTREMELY painful!!
I'm hoping for a spontaneous VB this time- no drugs. xx

checkin in from week 30, the baby in this pic is really crammed in there now huh! lol.
chrisplus2 - 4 days ago
I live in the Middle East and method of delivery is the patients choice, and yes it was covered by insurance although more expensive then vaginal birth. The doctors sometimes push for a 'normal delivery' but in the end it is the womens choice. yeah to choices!!!!

All of you ladies should go to parents.com and take the 'am I going into labor soon' quiz. I did it and it was so fun. Yall should try it.

reneemg - 4 days ago
Ok I swear that at any moment I will look down and I will have a lil foot or hand hanging out of me. Lol. It seems like he's trying to claw his way out. Which isn't good at all considering I have had all my kids by c section. This baby is already a handful. Can't wait to finally hold him. Me and fiance have a net goin on who he will look like. Hair and eye color etc. Ready to see who wins. Lol
M2G - 4 days ago
jessmonoz ~ with my first I lost 30lbs having her. With my second I lost about 25lbs in the hospital. I am praying I lose atleast that much this time. I am weighing right now what I weighed when I delivered #2....And I still have 7 weeks left! I hope I don't gain anymore. I hate being so heavy. And breastfeeding did not help me one bit to lose the weight.
M2G - 4 days ago
chrisplus2 ~ where I live in Canada you are NOT allowed to choose to have a c-section. Unless there is an underlying medical concern that would require a c-section. MyBabySurprise & Mama 2 B ~ it's amazing what your body can do to birth a child. My sister is about 105lbs, 5'9 and delivered my nephew vaginally, he was born weighing 10lbs 9oz and 24' long....So anything is possible!!!LOL A recovery from a c-section can be easier or harder then a vaginal delivery, it all depends on how your body heals and everyone is different. With 2 little ones at home I can imagine that my healing process this time around may take a little longer and be a little harder. But there isn't much choice....
3rdOnBoard - 4 days ago
Just letting you know that I had my refresher birthing class last night and I asked about the stabbing pain below. ALL of the girls in the class are having the same problem so we are not alone. The midwife said that it is just the pressure of the baby pushing down combined with the muscles and ligaments starting to relax in preparation for the birth.

Well ladies, I will be moving to week 33 tomorrow, hope to see you all there.

HERE I AM AGAIN!! 32 WEEKS. We went to the dr. today and I now weigh 178. I gained about 40 pounds so far. Which is actually good considering I'm having twins. So I will be delivering in about 6 Weeks, which is the week of Dec. 28th. Well I'm ready, we are ready. This pregnancy has been awsome so far and I can't complain. I ate 5 slices of pizza today, But i dont feel bad since this is the month they will gain fat. lol.
