Born & Birth stories

Dates and numbers:
There are 64 days until your due date on January 28, 2010.
You are 216 days pregnant.
You are 7.1 months pregnant.
You are in your 8th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: April 23, 2009 to July 22, 2009. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: July 23, 2009 to November 04, 2009. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: November 05, 2009 to January 28, 2010. (28 - 40 weeks)

You may feel as if you have been pregnant forever at this point. It might be hard to imagine being pregnant for another ten weeks, but your baby still has a lot of growing and developing to do! By this time, your baby's crown-to-rump length is a little over 10.8 inches and the total length of your baby is about 17 inches! Your baby weighs about 3 pounds now. Your uterus can be felt about 4 inches above your bellybutton. Your uterus, baby, placenta and the amount of fluid will get larger over the next ten weeks. You should be gaining about a pound a week at this time.

Because you are getting larger, you are probably becoming slower and clumsier. You should try to be careful to avoid dangerous falls. Good posture when sitting and standing can help you feel better during your pregnancy. You also should be rolling over on your side to get up after lying down because your muscles have stretched to accommodate your growing uterus.

Even though your baby is cushioned by the amniotic fluid, she can feel and respond to pain. Your baby now does `practice breathing` to get ready for life outside of your womb. If you have an ultrasound at this time, you will be able to see this. If your baby swallows amniotic fluid down the wrong passage, she will still get hiccups that are noticeable by you. If your baby were born at this time, she would be able to keep herself warm.

The skin begins to smoothen as fat deposits accumulate underneath. The fat insulates and is an energy source.

has anyone got the wall pops from home depot to decorate the baby room?........we finally got the walls finished and ready to move all the stuff in and i was wandering if anyone knew where else to get some wall pops cause the ones at home depot are huge and they only have one size

babygirl- honestly I always feel stupid, but that doesn't mean that she has to be rude and point it out. Being pregnant and then having the baby really takes something out of you. Every time I deliver it takes me a good couple of months to get out of the 'DUH' stage.

babygirl0330 - 16 minutes ago
Pampam - Good luck! Try to relax the next 2 weeks.

babygirl0330 - 17 minutes ago
I just feel really stupid ): Ugh...I really can't wait to go on my leave. It's been so awful here!

twogreatkids - 24 minutes ago
babygirl- I think I would have cussed her out! I have minimal control over insulting people. I can't believe you didn't kick her in the forehead!!!!!

twogreatkids - 28 minutes ago
babygirl- I don't think so. My first was big and I went over, but my second was only 7lbs and she came 2 weeks early. My doctor doesn't do the due date thing. She goes by weeks, but when the baby comes it comes. She isn't into inductions or anything, so we'll see. Unfortunatly I live in Minnesota by baby may not want to come out it will be so cold

babygirl0330 - 31 minutes ago
I'm having a freak out moment...I made a minor error at work and my boss was so mad she said to me 'I guess being pregnant makes you stupid. I guess you were just having a baby moment'.....and walked off. She wasn't even trying to be funny. When does maternity leave start again??

pampam - 43 minutes ago
Went to Dr. She told me today if I can go at least 6 more weeks she would not stop the contractions at that point. Sure can tell I have done alot today because the contractions have been more. She gave me the ok to titrate my trebutaline do if I feel the contractions getting out of control I can take it a little earlier. So that keeps me from going to hospital and them basicly doing the same thing. I don't go back for another 2 wks, so we are hopng for a smooth 2 weeks.

shellybelly81 - 1.1 hours ago
I was looking through my cell phone and found the snap shot I took of my positive pregnancy test back in May, I was so excited thinking, back then I had no idea what was going to pop up on that screen and now I have a little girl with a name ready to be born in less than 2 months !! :)

tonie - 1.2 hours ago
They told me at my u/s that my baby girl was measuring 3lbs.8oz. My son was 8.6 and my daughter 7.6...so they told me its most likely to be in that range. No matter the size, we are all going to be screaming, 'get him/her out!!' LOL :)

kadeezangelz101 - 1.3 hours ago
I am from Week 38 and am having a flash back moment looking back to remind myself of what i have been through for the last few months, lol. However, i would like to comment on the big baby issue. My Sister was told that my nephew was 10lbs when she was 38 weeks, so they induced her and he weigh'd in at 6lbs. 2 oz. My little guy at 36 weeks weigh'd 7 1/2 lbs already and i was concerned, i also have GD,and am worried to have a big baby as well. I wouldnt worry to much at this point being that you still have a ways to go. Your little bean could very well gain slowly until the very last few weeks, and also the weight is not accurate, it is estimated give or take it can fluctuate up a lb or down a lb. However in my sis's case the baby fluctuated 4 lbs. Besides my last baby was over 9lbs, and i am small, and i delivered her vaginally with no stitches or tares. So relax, hun it will be okay...best wishes

babygirl0330 - 1.4 hours ago
twogreatkids - Did they say you might deliver early since you are measuring 3 weeks ahead? I am measuring 2 weeks ahead but i'm not quite sure what that means exactly?

twogreatkids - 1.5 hours ago
Ib71- I am measuring three weeks ahead and at my lat appointment the est. weight was 3.5 lb. I would try to return some of the newborn clothes and get a bigger size. I don't think you should be stressed about a c-section. With my first I was 18 and I vaginally delivered a 9.3 baby boy. I think by you getting scared it will stress you out for no reson. Relax! When you grow a baby a lot of times it will fit. I am sure that even on here there is more than just me who has hada big baby vaginally. You can do it. Don't worry about things you can't control!

lb71 - 1.6 hours ago
One of my friends made the comment that b/c my baby was 3 lb 3oz at 30 weeks, 'he's going to be a big boy!' So ever since then, I've been feeling stressed about how big he's going to be, how hard that will make labor, how it could increase my chance for a c-section... I really haven't stressed about anything with the baby until this. Is it normal to flip out about this, or do I just need to 'get zen' with it, lol? (Cuz not like I can really do anything about it anyway.) And this is stupid, but another reason I want him to be little is my friends keep giving me these newborn size clothes that are for wee tiny babies up to 8 lbs!! Why do people give NB size clothes for singletons? Even if they do fit, they won't long! and some of them are so dang cute, it'll make me so sad if we can't use them! OK, yes, now I know I'm being silly. Well... off to the dr, and by the time I get home, MIL will have arrived for her eight-day visit. :-0 Happy thanksgiving, everyone!

yummymummybecci - 1.9 hours ago
im really happy to be here week 30.. im starting to get nervous now and im going to get bits for the hospital bag tomorrow i think to start preparing now otherwise il leave til last min! is everyone ready? just to think it could be less than 10 weeks or more than 10 weeks till our babys are here!!

babygirl0330 - 4.3 hours ago
amber - I bought some scotch for a friends bday and I got the WORST looks from all of the people at the liquor store. I decided not to do that again.....LOL. And I saw New Moon on Sunday and LOVED IT! I didn't even notice that the chairs were uncomfortable I was so into the movie. It was great! Pampam - Good luck! Keep us posted! Holly - I think it's more then OK to go to the director and express your concerns. You have a very valid one. The people that we choose to leave our kids with should make us feel secure not completely uncomfortable. It's clear that she obviously doesn't know what the proper kind of behavior is around children. I would say something now because heaven forbid this would escalate to something worse. Good luck to you and Hannah!

LilBoy4Jenn - 4.8 hours ago
lovelyluney - LOL.. i skipped to week 31 to check out that picture and that baby IS huge! that can't be accurate.. can it?!?!

amber-lamber - 4.8 hours ago
pampam--goodluck at the doc today!! I have my fingers crossed for you! heather--that is SO SWEET! I've been having trouble sleeping just starting this week pretty much and my BF just sleeps like a rock through all of my tossing and turning. It drives me nuts!! I'm starting to wonder if he's even going to wake up when the baby cries?!?! lexysmom--I'm in the same boat with you :(

amber-lamber - 5 hours ago
So I was sucessful in buying my boyfriend's beer yesterday, but I did feel really silly walking into a liquor store! LOL I told the clerk it was my 21st and being able to buy liquor was about all I COULD do and we got a good laugh out of it(and it gave me a chance to babble about my bub a little lol). And I went and saw New Moon with my brother's GF, it was SO good!!! You should definately go see it. I thought it might be uncomfortable sitting in those chairs for 2 and a half hours but I didnt even notice. The movie was that good :) totally worth the ridiculous theatre prices.

emisamommyagain - 5.1 hours ago
I have found such cute baby clothes on ebay yesterday and today. I know it's crazy, but I am just now starting shopping. I'm getting him lots of cute monkey themed clothes, receiving blankets and burp rags. For some reason I am just feeling the monkey theme and I even got him a monkey wubbanub. Monkey bunting, sleepers with monkey faces on the feet, etc I can't wait!

lexysmom - 5.4 hours ago
heather09- that is the sweetest thing. I toss and turn from the top of the bed to the bottom and my husband never stirs until I get out of bed to rock the baby into a different position. Then he says ' are you alright'. By that time I'm so frustrated because he's said nothing for last three hours I just say 'yes'.

hollysnum2 - 6 hours ago
Good luck pampam! I'm sure everything will be great!!!

pampam - 6.5 hours ago
Ok, going to get ready to go to doctor. Thinking good thoughts!

hollysnum2 - 6.6 hours ago
babygirl- I think I am going to go talk to the director about it. I thought maybe I was just blowing it out of proportion, but even my DH is fed up with this lady. And he is the most laid back person. But she SHOULD know better. She is about mid thirties, and also she is philipino(sp?) so I thought maybe she was raised to be more touchy feely than I was since I was raised in the south. But I realized she isnt like this with the other kids, at least not that I see. But my DH thinks I should wait to see if something else happens, since we did already talk to the head teacher in the room. But Im not sure I want this woman around my child. I mean she started crying when I told her that I didnt have to check in with them if I wanted to keep Hannah home for a day. I mean it feels like a completely unstable attachment to me!

babygirl0330 - 6.9 hours ago
Oh holly - that is SOOO inappropriate. How old is this woman? She is seriously crossing some lines. Have you talked to her boss? That would make me feel so uncomfortable if someone was that interested in my child. How you have not let the preggy hormones take over and freak out on this lady is beyond me. I would have lost it by now!

heather09 - 7.2 hours ago
Hey ladies....Hope eveyone is doing well. I had my first night of not sleeping well and it was awful!!...But this is the funny but sweet part lmbo...At 4 this morning I woke up to my husband pushing my leg up and putting presure on me and I was thinking to myself at first...what the hell is he doing...once I came to I realized he had taken one of his comfy pillows he sleeps with and was trying to put it between my knees so I could try and get more comfortable...lmbo....thought it was really sweet of him =)

Hey guys, i was wondering if any of u could possibly send me some baby shower game ideas to my profile, as im havin one on sunday and really needed some fun games to play.... ive got a few ideas but not many???????? thanks xxxx sarah

♥MommyCamille♥ - 11.4 hours ago
Hi ladies please take a look at my babyname pole and tell me which one you like most! the first name is definite but the middle name is probably going to be changed a million times lol my poor babygirl haha.. =)

hollysnum2 - 13.2 hours ago
Rayray- I definitely thought she was trying to make me jealous, but then I thought maybe my hormones were taking over. But no, I seriously think she has lost it! I feel like she is trying to take my place. Also I forgot to mention that at one point she interrupted my DH while he was telling DD to stop running so that she could tell DD to stop and she asked DH if DD asked for Her at home. She looked shocked when he said No. No boundries!!! I'M THE MOTHER!!!! grrr

LilmamaAsh - 15.3 hours ago
twogreatkids, thats horrible about the daycare. I have thought about using daycare but i get nervous for that reason, you never know whats going on when your gone. I worked at a daycare for a little while during my last pregnancy and when they hired me, no background check or drug test, I couldnt believe it! I think that is a must, there is no telling what kind of people could be watching your children.

lucylu10 - 16 hours ago
P.S. I just added my first two pictures on here! haha They're both 30-week photos. Let me know what you think! This is my first pregnancy. :)

lucylu10 - 16.2 hours ago
Had my 30 week appointment today and all is looking well. It's funny though because I just got back from England (so glad the 10 hr flight is over!) and I was sure the baby rolled over or something during the flight. At the appointment, the doctor put her stethoscope where she normally does to hear the heartbeat.....nothing. lol So she goes to the other side of my stomach and sure enough, there it is! 140. Now all the kicks are on my other side, it's so weird!! The only bad thing about my appointment was that even though I passed the glucose test, the results showed a low hemoglobin level and larger than normal red blood cells. Anemia runs in my family so I'm thinking that's what it is. Anyone else have this? I have to go back for additional blood tests in the next few days. Fun fun.

urnchstephie - 16.6 hours ago
my crib is a Delta crib too, but luckily it doesn't have a drop side so I'm in the clear from the recall! yay

lovelyluney - 17.4 hours ago
pampam isnt it sweet, i wonder what theyre doing in there. im sure theyre listening to us and the Tv blinking their eyes and feeling around. theyre so smasked in there i bet theyre trying to get cumfy. do you see how huge the baby in next weeks pic is? lol is that accurate?

pampam - 17.8 hours ago
So tonight little Travis has been moving up a storm. I just lay there and amazed how distorted my belly gets and wonder what are you doing inside there honey. This is the part of pregnancy I LOVE. Now if I could have a day with NO contractions I would be doing better. He needs to stay in a little longer!

onetimemom - 18 hours ago
hollynum2- umm i would be pissed!!!!!!!!!!!!! what happened to boundaries?

lovelyluney - 18.1 hours ago
sucks about the Delta dropside crib recall! thats the kind i put on my registry! good thing i found out before somebody bought it!

lb71 - 18.3 hours ago
To turn a breech baby, here is a link that someone on this site posted.. maybe someone in this week; I forget where I found it. http://pregnancychildbirth.suite101.com/article.cfm/turning_a_breech_baby. And just fyi, my SIL is due at xmas, and her baby was breech two weeks ago, but now has turned again. So while I'm sure it's stressful to hear your LO is breech right now, there's also still lots of time for him or her to turn around! (unfortunately also lots of time for head-down babies to turn breech, but apparently that's less likely?)

rayray - 18.5 hours ago
I used to work in a daycare and there are some crazies that work in those places! I always hated it when the kids would try to kiss me on the mouth, Blah! And they always wanted to do it when their noses were runny too! It is hard working in a daycare, but I would have thought it as an insult to declare to a parent that their child was my baby, that's not appropriate behavior nor is it in good interests for the child's mental well-being. Sure we were supposed to make sure they felt love and were comfortable, but I was always tickled to death when it was time to go home! Maybe you should complain to the director, that's what they are there for and the daycare will lose money if you take your child elsewhere. It is not a daycare employee's job to make sure you know your kid loves her and they dont get bonuses for every hug and kiss a kid gives them, its almost like the girl is trying to make you jealous or something and is not suitable behavior. If not, maybe she is trying to gain your trust that she can take care of your child, but is going about it the wrong way. I had some kids that wouldnt go into the class without crying unless I was there and some kids would just come and give me a hug and a kiss on the cheek, but I never pushed anything on the little toddlers. Some parents would tell their kids to give me a hug or say bye bye, but I usually sat for them outside of there and was really close.

lovelyluney - 19.3 hours ago
twogreatkids- wow! thats crazy..lady is awful. poor baby..

smurf yea you should take off , go in crying and really putting the emotions on thick! lol. your almost 8 months pregnant the last thing you need is stress!

preggoagain ive never heard that a breech baby might turn with ice packs..thats cool and intresting! i hope the baby turns for you also. my sister had to get her DD turned at around 8.5 months and she said it was not painful..

preggoagain - 19.8 hours ago
takeyshaw i had my 30 week appt today and come to find ou my baby is breech. and i have been feeling strong kicks in my pelvic area they kind of hurt! doc said he still has time to turn or they can try and turn him. but they say that sometimes there is a reason for baby being breech such as the cord being to short and things like that. they told me to think about what is more important having a vag birth or the babies health. my baby was head down las at 25 weeks but i believe recently he turned cause i sisnt feel the kicks down there and my stomach has become flatter then it was 2 days ago. doc also sai i could lay on my back and elevate my legs or try putting ice packs onthe top of my stomach to get him to turn. hope this helps but man i am worried as well.

twogreatkids - 19.9 hours ago
Lovely loney- that daycare did have cameras.... some people don't care

smurf91 - 19.9 hours ago
So boss at work doesnt take in consideration that I can't be in 4 places at the same time, deal with mentally ill/physically disabled client's and keep their records in order with no staff help...and everytime I am at work the braxton hicks come on every 30 minutes..stress is the cause...so tomorrow I am going to the dr to see if I can convince him that stress is causing me issues with the pregnancy and he will pull me out of work within a week or 2! Wish me luck or I might go postal and kill the boss!!!! now I know why all my clients are on psych meds...I might need some!!!! Goodnight! Thanks for letting me vent!!

lovelyluney - 20.5 hours ago
lovinglayla i cant even think of being pregnant again and starting all over again n e time soon! lol. pregnancy is a great thing and a beautiful process but dang its hard! i forget what its like NOT being pregnant too. haha. i just dont feel myself and im having manic bi polar outbreaks!

THANKSGIVING is making me hungry! devild eggs are so damn good and ive been craving them and spinnach dip! i want to buy a honey baked ham this year ohh man i can smell the stuffing already! my mom usually makes a traditional southern dinner but i want to bring a plate

does n e one have n e recipes?? sweets or n e thing ill try

lovelyluney - 20.6 hours ago
yuck that story i sick! i would go crazy and kick som ass if i saw a daycare provider do that to any child! the only daycare i put my son in had online cameras so i dont think the care givers would even try knowing the parent could e watching. gosh unless they had a hidden corner. =/ i plan on working in daycare or running my own i just have to finish up with school..it is hard trusting other people to watch our kids and do the right stuff.

twogreatkids - 20.8 hours ago
Maybe it is the people from the Islands that can't make deviled eggs, I don't know. I hear it isn't that hard, and people who eat my food say that my food is harder to make than deviled eggs. My granma always wants to put in some crazy stuff, like celantro and goya seasoning. Hollys- I actually did daycare, I went to school for Early childhood development, but I have to say there are only a hand full of people that work in daycares that can handle it. I feel a lot of places hire people at a low pay with no education. I have had countless parents complain to me about 'crazies' in the daycare center. When I was working in one daycare I went into my son's classroom to help put him to sleep, when I was in there the teacher had a child about 2.5 laying on his stomach and he was squerming. She put the blanket over his head and held him down by the back of his neck. I complained to our supervisor and guess what? The girl actually got promoted. Just to let you know I actually went to school for nursing droppe out with less than a year to graduate and went to early childhood development. The reason: I could not imagine leaving my child at a daycare without knowing what really was going on. I was right working in daycare def. opens your eyes. I have to say though, you can find a great place, just look hard. I also HATED when other daycare people would kiss the children on the lips... hello??? Not your kid!

hollysnum2 - 21 hours ago
babygirl- you are right, I know that it isnt the way things usually are, but I am already having issues with this classroom. The daycare itself is awesome, and in Hannahs class there are 4 teachers who are split in half with the kids. So there are 2 teachers with 6 kids. But I am having problems with one of the teachers. She isnt even a teacher in Hannahs group, but I feel like she is crossing a line. She keeps telling me how Hannah is her Baby(multiple times a day), I went to pick Hannah up and she wouldnt let her go til she gave her a hug AND kiss. Another time DH picked her up and the lady wouldnt let DD leave til she said I love you! Maybe I am just being touchy, but the Temp thing just pushed it over the edge for me.And whats sad is that we LOVE her actual teachers. :(

babygirl0330 - 21.2 hours ago
Holly - I would be beyond upset! Try to remember that it was a temp and not how things are all of the time. I hope this didn't shake little Hannah's confidence ):

hollysnum2 - 21.3 hours ago
I am soo angry! My Hubby went to pick our DD up at daycare and found out that she had had an 'accident' in her pants. Come to find out they had a Temp in the room while the kids were taking a nap and the other teachers were in a meeting, So Hannah woke up after a 2 1/2 hr nap and the temp told her to lay back down on her bed. So Hannah had an accident on her bed, and when they questioned the temp, she said she thought Hannah was going to play, not going to the bathroom! But we have been working on potty training for about 5 weeks, and she hasn't had an accident since that first week. It just frustrates me that this woman made my DD wet herself! The daycare did repeatedly apologize for it and said they wouldnt leave a temp in ANY room alone again, but that doesnt really make me feel better. Sorry for ranting, but thank you for letting me vent! :)

As far as dishes during thanksgiving... no matter what I always get asked to make my famous redskin gouda and horseradish mashed potatoes. Sounds fancy but they really aren't... just really yummy. :)
