Born & Birth stories

Dates and numbers:
There are 66 days until your due date on January 29, 2010.
You are 214 days pregnant.
You are 7 months pregnant.
You are in your 8th month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: April 24, 2009 to July 23, 2009. (0 - 12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: July 24, 2009 to November 05, 2009. (13 - 27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: November 06, 2009 to January 29, 2010. (28 - 40 weeks)

You may feel as if you have been pregnant forever at this point. It might be hard to imagine being pregnant for another ten weeks, but your baby still has a lot of growing and developing to do! By this time, your baby's crown-to-rump length is a little over 10.8 inches and the total length of your baby is about 17 inches! Your baby weighs about 3 pounds now. Your uterus can be felt about 4 inches above your bellybutton. Your uterus, baby, placenta and the amount of fluid will get larger over the next ten weeks. You should be gaining about a pound a week at this time.

Because you are getting larger, you are probably becoming slower and clumsier. You should try to be careful to avoid dangerous falls. Good posture when sitting and standing can help you feel better during your pregnancy. You also should be rolling over on your side to get up after lying down because your muscles have stretched to accommodate your growing uterus.

Even though your baby is cushioned by the amniotic fluid, she can feel and respond to pain. Your baby now does `practice breathing` to get ready for life outside of your womb. If you have an ultrasound at this time, you will be able to see this. If your baby swallows amniotic fluid down the wrong passage, she will still get hiccups that are noticeable by you. If your baby were born at this time, she would be able to keep herself warm.

The skin begins to smoothen as fat deposits accumulate underneath. The fat insulates and is an energy source.

My name comes from family 'Travis' was my late faters name, and 'Joseph' was my husband late grandfater. My dad died when I was 18 (he was only 42) So I figured what a special gift to give to the baby boy whos grandfater whould have spoiled the mess out of him.

pampam - 24 minutes ago
Ib71, I am also having the feeling of going to the bathroom constantly. But I feel like he has dropped. Because I am feeling pressure. I don't think it has anything to do with the contractions but we will find out Tues. when I see the Dr.

lovinglayla - 2.9 hours ago
rayray- i tell people its a ten dollar charge to touch me-- i cant stand it, why do people like to pet us, we are not on display lol

rayray - 3.2 hours ago
Thank God nobody just comes up and grabs my belly yet! I think I would freak out if some random stranger did that, or even a person I was not very familiar with. Most people just ask and if they ask I dont mind, my mother-in-law always wants to feel him, I can't ever get hi to kick for her, but my sis got to feel it the other day and was tickled to death! Sometimes when he's kicking I just grab whoever is around by the hand and stick it on him cus I think its cute, I think I freaked my dad out cus he didnt know what I was doing til he got kicked n he teared up a little in the eyes, but I think it was a good surprise! Been over 20 years since he got to feel a lil baby kick!

emisamommyagain - 5.6 hours ago
LOL too funny! I haven't had anyone touching my belly this time...oh except my 6 year old daughter, and even with her it drives me nuts. She pushes on it and stuff and it is just uncomfortable. I did have an old man at a grocery store, when my daughter was an infant, grab her little hand and instinctually she started putting it in her mouth. I told him to stop and was sooooo grossed out!

tonie - 5.9 hours ago
As for the belly touching with strangers, I told some lady the other day in the grocery store who just walked up and start touching my belly, just assuming I was prego, that I was just plain old fat and I thanked her for bringing it to my attention. After a while it just gets so annoying!! Especially during the flu season and some peoples hygiene habits. Maybe its just my horomones!! LOL!!

emisamommyagain - 5.9 hours ago
This is my 3rd as well. My second's head was engaged and I was dilated to 3 for 3 weeks before she was born. I finally went to the hospital at 5 and she was a few days before her duedate, which was nice since I was toxic and overdue with my first.

tonie - 6 hours ago
youngmummy2b2- This is my 3rd pregnancy. With my 2nd her head was engaged around 35 wks or so, but with this pregnancy the dr told me her head is already engaged. I have been having tremendous pressure and pain down there and the dr now checks every 2 wks to see if I'm dilating. You would think it would be easier since we're pro's...lol.

rickettsrules - 6.1 hours ago
Hahaha, I KNOW! What is it with everyone all of a sudden feeling as though they can touch and rub your belly???? It's not like a touch on the arm, your belly is a pretty personal thing! A lady at work unexpectedly started rubbing my belly and I did a big jump backwards and apparently offended her! Hahahaha, whoops, bad luck!

lovinglayla - 6.9 hours ago
twogreatkids- i iwsh i would've kept the sex and name to myself, they bug the hell out of me thinking that they are gonna know everything going on with my baby---his mom made a little area for the baby to have, but shie is in no physical strength to pick up and hold a baby, i dont want to hurt her feelings, but she cant even use her hands, and im not about to put my child in that kind of danger

emisamommyagain - 7.2 hours ago
Ib71~ I have been feeling that way too and found out I have the beginning of a UTI. Doc said even though it's not bad yet, best to treat it at this point in pregnancy.

twogreatkids - 7.6 hours ago
Oh I forgot to mention... I don't like them so much that I didn't even tell them my EDD. I figured one less thing that they know about and can bug me about. Not even my husband has said... Sometime in Jan.

twogreatkids - 7.6 hours ago
Lovinglayla- Your in-laws sound like mine... nosey and love to gossip. They suck, I'm glad they think the 15 minute drive to our house is too far for them, so we never see them

lovinglayla - 8.4 hours ago
omg mamamason!!! i have tears in my eyes lol--- thats sooo funny

mamasoon2b2 - 8.4 hours ago
Loving, I know what you mean about mean in laws. my first husband's parents were so freaking rude to me. The mom was so mad that if we had a boy we weren't naming the middle name after the father in law like she did with both her boys. Thank goodness we had a girl! But they dont even try to have contact with my daughter now. Again, thank goodness. But the new in laws do like to tell everyone their business. And always want to see my bare belly. It looks the same in my shirt. I am private and don't like to go whipping my belly out. And I really don't like people touching me. The secretary at my daughter's school is always groping my belly. I am putting bear traps on the front of my shirt I swear! lol

lovinglayla - 9.3 hours ago
im very emotional right now and i feel like im being a total bi*ch...i dont even want them holding my baby, id ont want to see any one until after the baby is born,---his family is to involved in our personal life and space and i feel like im being stripped of my privacy and security within in my home.

lovinglayla - 9.4 hours ago
thanks girls, i guess im going through a mental thing, but really the only reason im thinking of a name change is because im tired of his fmaily knowing my every move---im a very private person and i feel like that is being taken away from me because they have no boundaries on what they tell each other--they know everything we buy the baby, eveyrthing she need, I wouldnt mind if they were knowing to help me, but they are nosey because thats what they do and will turn anything into a gossip session---how can i raise my daughter around them, my rule is what happens at home should stay within the home, my bf doesnt not understand that---theya re driving me crazy

lb71 - 9.6 hours ago
PEE. Is anyone else all of a sudden having to go every 20 minutes?? I think I'm wearing a path to the bathroom this weekend -- even if I've just gone, I feel like I have to go again almost right away. Is this typical at this point? My belly looks the same so I don't think the baby has dropped (but would I even know?).

twogreatkids - 9.7 hours ago
Speaking of the whole name thing and members of the family being rude. My family basically says it your kid, you name the child what you want. Everyone else got or gets their turn. My husband's mom has always been a bitc* to me and when she heard our name she made racist slurs, which I am Dominican and she always has made racist slurs to me, and I had to yell at her. It then turned into my brother-in-law telling me and his entire family how mean I am to his mom and how he hates me. Great! One less person to worry about during the holidays! It has turned into his family being managable to them making my skin crawl. Luckly my husband knows how his family is and has been completely supportive of me, but I would say don't say what the names are going to be, and if they already know it and are being a-holes I would say 'screw off!' Opions are like a-holes, everybody has them!

youngmummy2be2 - 9.9 hours ago
lovinglayla - i do like lavender, but i too love violet lol.. I love girls names beginning with L i think they are really pretty, my fav are Lola and Lily

youngmummy2be2 - 10 hours ago
Just wondering if any of you are third time mums + or just happen to know, does the baby become engaged second time round? Everywhere i read it says it only happens with your first but i my lower abdomen near my bladder is really sore to touch and i am feeling loads of pressure down there, does that sound like the baby being engaged or something else?

lb71 - 10 hours ago
p.s. I like lavendar; I like violet even more, not sure why. I'm not up on stripper names so can't help you there, lol.

lb71 - 10 hours ago
lovinglayla, only my husband will attend the delivery with me. (And he's not promising to remain conscious, lol!)

lovinglayla - 11 hours ago
what do you ladies think of the name Lavendar for a girl---does it sound like the name of a stripper lol???

lovinglayla - 11.4 hours ago
I NEED SOME ADVICE PLEASE-- I dont want any one at the hospital when I go itno labor, I actually prefer for people to come after I have the baby, its just I feel every one has been involved with their opinions, 'expert advice', and know every move we make when it comes to the baby (my bf tells his family EVERYTHING)...i want this moment to us to have this moment to ourselves..i dont think eveyrbody needs to have memories of how i gave birth, how i handled it, or what i looked like lol

Naaster - 11.6 hours ago
You might have a UTI, they can also cause contractions. And that would explain the urge to go, the pressure and the pains. I'd drink a TON of water and really take it easy today. If your undies aren't wet it's probably not your water broken, but urine leaking. But only time will tell. If you drink a lot of water, put your feet up, you can call you doc in the morning, but if the pain gets worse or you start wetting your undies while your sitting there, I'd say go LD!

Eloises-mummy! - 11.7 hours ago
hey ladies, i was wondering if you could help. Ive been having some pains which i got from about 35weeks onwards with eloise, a real sharp pain in my hoo-haaa lol. I was told this was my cervix getting ready etc which worries me but ive also had a lot of preasure when im standing, it feels like half preasure and half needing the toilet even though i dont as i had gone 2 mins earlier. Also i went to the toilet this evening and there was a little blood. not much and it has stopped as far as i am aware, this is tmi i know but i also looked into the toilet while i sit there and something drips and makes little cloudy spots, but my undies arent wet so i dont know. Sorry for the TMI i just thought i would ask what you all thought. Cheers x

Eloises-mummy! - 11.8 hours ago
mummy tummy, they normally recommend it from 37 weeks. thats when i started it last time. I would say 36 weeks is fine, if yoru already engaged that the time id wait till 37 weeks.

evenbecause - 12.6 hours ago
amber-lamber: My mum doesn't like the name we have for our son either. After we told my mum the baby is a boy she said 'Just don't name him Zia!' We have two names picked out for our son, Zia being our favourite, just as we had a couple ideas if we were having a girl. It comes down to, if people ask, tell them it's a surprise =)

lovelyluney - 12.9 hours ago
HELLO LADIES! hows every1? i hope your all doing good! 30 weeks were getting there! gosh i remember clicking on the 6th week lol. people keep asking me if im going to get pregnant right away after this ones born, hah! hell no- ill wait at least a year and a half thank you..

amber-lamber- im so sick of the name game too. i keep every1 the name will be picked out when he is born! i have a few in mind and people just curl their lip up or tell me crap about it, so annoying and i really dont care what they think but its my baby were talking about and i dont want to hear n e thing negative!!

i had my shower last night and it was fun. i got a ton of clothes and diapers!!

cathylynn00 - 13.1 hours ago
kristielynn~thank u for your comment...did you get your money back? We are trying for the second time next Sunday, and if we cant get a good picture at that time either, I dont really want to try again...My fingers are crossed, but it is up to my baby girl :)

mummytummy09 - 13.3 hours ago

lucylu10 - 13.8 hours ago
My husband and I can't decide on a name either. We're on team surprise too so we're trying to come up with a short list for both genders and I'm thinking we'll wait until we see the baby to choose one.

kristielynn - 13.9 hours ago
Cathylynn, we have tried several times, my little one literally puts her hand up in front of her face whenever there is a camera around!! (I know it's not possible that she knows....yet Im starting to wonder) I finally decided that I will just have to wait till she gets here to see that little face :-( The best we got was a profile.

nutnut - 14.9 hours ago
id walk up on her porch and remove the light bulb when she was out LOL! jk. but its a funny thought. =)) just so you know with my daughter we didnt have a chosen name we had ideas. we didnt name her until she was born. when they put her on my chest she just looked like a jordyn to me so that was the name we went with. =) we narrowed it down to about 4 different names, and thats how it went. This one i knew the first name since day one for sentimental reasons we chose David. we had issues with the middle name choices and my family didnt care for what we were throwing around. LOL but they will get over it. they didnt care for the name Jordyn at first either, but i really dont think any other name wouldve suited her. it will work out. we havent told them the middle name yet lol.

amber-lamber - 16.7 hours ago
Sublime--we don't have a name yet either.. Im getting really frustrated trying to pick one out, and im at the point where I don't talk about it with anyone but my boyfriend. Everyone has an opinion and I'm really kind of sick of hearing them. My mom is so rude, anytime I see her she asks about names and then when I tell her any of our ideas she goes, 'oh my god, no! Anything but that one.' Isn't that just horrible?! It makes me so so mad. And everyone seems to think that their ideas are better than anyone else's ideas (including mine and zachs). Gosh, I needed that vent, thanks. I just wish people would mind their own business sometimes, or at least not be rude about something so sensitive! This is gonna be his name for his whole life whether or not you like it mom!! Ugh!

mamasoon2b2 - 17.1 hours ago
Oh and about the name, we have chosen Hendrix. Haven't said it before cause I don't think it's common and when I said I wanted to name my daughter Madison, there was a new Madison in the local births everyday! lol Anyway, my gram in law wants to nick name him Henry! I am soooo mad. So we keep tossing other names in there; but we just don't like any others.

mamasoon2b2 - 17.1 hours ago
oh, this neighbor has known for 6 years her lights are bothersome. I have complained to the management who have advised her to turn them, I am calling the township tomorrow to see if they have any regulations. I was hoping we would have a house by now and not have to worry about this woman anymore. But since that fell through, we are at stage one looking again. Oh and this woman isn't nice. She leaves her poor dog in her house from 5am til 9 or ten pm! And she doesn't walk him anymore, she just let's him do his thing on her porch! It smells sooo bad!

lb71 - 17.3 hours ago
preggoagain - why don't you just make his lunch ahead and leave it in the fridge for him, or else... he could make his own lunch... We pregos need our sleep!! :)

youngmama - 17.4 hours ago
Sublime- I don't have a name yet either. There are a few that are possibilities but nothing set in stone yet, thats for sure. It is actually starting to stress me out. What if I am early and haven't thought of one so I rush and end up picking something that I don't like? Me and my boyfriend just can't agree on anything and we have been talking about it since I was 10 weeks. I look through so many names and name sites and nothing, I don't know, maybe I am making this into a bigger deal than it is, I just want something perfect.

lb71 - 17.4 hours ago
mommy2b - I would go talk to you neighbor in a very kind way first. I would hope she doesn't realize that your family feels like deer in headlights b/c of her light. She might even be embarrassed that you've been living with it for 6 yrs and she didn't know.

ashsmum - 20.8 hours ago
hehe, thanks ladies for all your advice about my 'father-in-laws' comment, I even had a bit of a giggle about spreading noses and ice-cream trucks! So thank you, I feel a bit better! In answer to a couple of questions, the father-in-law made the comment to my husband who ended up telling me! He told me not to worry about what other peoples opinions are and to just get over it, but he would never actually stand up for me when it came to his father... I think it's true that men never actually fully 'leave the nest'....

preggoagain - 1 days ago
im so sleepy but if i sleep i have to get up in a hr to make my husbands lunch. so im going to try and stick it out....ugh!! i hate when my husband has to work grave shift luckly its only one night a week excerpt this week he had to do it twice:(

littlesunshine - 1 days ago
We had 39 in Canberra the other day. Thank goddness it is not to bad today. The worst thing is we are not even in summer yet. I hate to think how hot it is going to get.

clauds1st - 1 days ago
rickettsrules - tell me about it! The heat here is unbelievable. I think they said it was 41 degrees (106 farenheit)here in Sydney. My husband and I have been at the hospital all day doing the childbirth and parenting class and walked out and were hit with the hot, dry heat. I think there's plenty of bushfires around.

MOMS OF 2 OR MORE KIDS.. PLEASE ANSWER POLL(s)!!! http://www.i-am-pregnant.com/vip-polls/hopeafloat2009

cathylynn00 - 1 days ago
So I had my 3d/4d ultrasound today and my baby had her face planted into my placenta the entire time :( The ultrasound tech had me drinking juice, jumping up and down, bending, twisting, poking my belly...and nothing helped :( I go back next Sunday and HOPEFULLY we can see her face. I am just really sad because we were so excited for today. Has anyone else had to go back for a second ultrasound?

kristielynn - 1 days ago
Steph, I haven't experienced it but a friend of mine did and her doctor was not concerned either.. as long as there is no cramping. As long as it doesn't get worse, and the doctor is not concerned, I wouldn't worry.

Eloises-mummy! - 1 days ago
mamasoon2b- i agree with momo, you should probably speak to her first then if that doesnt solve it then go on to childish behavious lol (made me giggle) atleast it will we fun for you then lol. Sublime - we have yet to decide on a name, actually we have yet to really talk about it. I have one i like and he has one he likes lol but thats all we'd said.

rickettsrules - 1 days ago
It's so hot here. I went for a swim yesterday down the bay and felt so big walking down to the water. I just bought some cossies from ebay, hope they fit and make me feel a bit more feminine on the beach!
